    Hey a good video would be a used wheel buyers guide and give some stories of what you guys may have seen or heard from being around the car scene. But thats just what I think would be good content for a future video 🤷🏾‍♂️. Love the channel I’m subscribed 👍🏾

    Coming from the trailer industry I've leared that running your finger down a silicone beed to even out the beed is only half of the goal. The other purpose for this is to pack that wet bead down into that creese so that the beed as a whole can maintain its integrity under high pressure for as long as possible. Ive had alot if seals fail pressure tests from a beed not penetrating enough between the two parts.

    I've had one piece wheels that I have turned into multi piece wheels before, but they didn't hold pressure very well....

    You forgot "sandwich mount"! Also, Some 2pc wheels have the face welded to the barrel, and the outer lip comes off! They wheel will then need sealant (BBS RSii)

    Can you do a video explaining “inset”. A-disk o-disk, brake clearance ect

  • @Luis-xd3qg
    @Luis-xd3qg 6 років тому +1

    Some wheels still need silicone such as Rials. The face and half barrel are one piece but the lips are separate and need silicone when put back together. Style 5's BBS have a separate face but lip and barrel are one, no need for silicone.

    Can you guys do an video recommending wheels for muscle cars like the dodge challenger and a video on dub wheels cause I was thinking about getting some but I don't know if they're good or not. Thanks! :)

    Probably being a bit precautios but recommend using a plastic razor blade to remove the silicone so you don't mar the metals mating surface. You can go ham on them with the razor and won't damage the wheels. Also when setting up a work station to dissamble/assemble your wheels put a blanket over the surface your working on (ex. table,desk,counter,etc) that way the lips of the barrels don't get damaged.

  • @400ss
    @400ss 6 років тому +1

    Box cutter/exacto knife and steel wool make quick work of silicone around the mating edges.

    Hey,
    You probably don't have time to answer, but i thought i'd ask.
    On the style five 2 piece wheels can you reverse/ flip face mount for a deep dish look?
    I've heard yes and no, and i just wanted a definitive answer.
    Keep up the fuego videos.

    • @Feamsterr
      @Feamsterr 6 років тому +2

      Yes, the BMW BBS Style 5 mesh wheel is flippable. Other BMW/BBS models such as the style 42 are not flippable.

    If I want to paint the face on a works Brombacher, can I take the tyre off and then remove the face without splitting the barrel? This would alow to avoid having to reseal.

    Also, depending on the valve hole on outer lips, they need to be lined up with design of centre for symmetry............nothing worse than having the valve in 4 different places when rebuilt

    But what I don't understand is - But why?
    It's not like you can just buy different faces to swap them out, doesn't seem lighter, they're more expensive, why buy 3-Piece wheels?

    When breaking the silicone seal, is it possible to make an incision through a point and put dental floss through? From there, run it along the diameter to cut the rest off? Kind of like removing emblems.

    • @KaitouKaiju
      @KaitouKaiju 6 років тому

      widowmaker777 I don't think that floss is going to be strong enough

    • @FitmentIndustries

      the floss wouldn't be strong enough and it would be easier to run a razor blade through it .

    Unfortunately this video is pretty useless for me because it's illegal to disassemble a multi piece wheel on your own in Germany. It has to be done by a professional.
    But anyway, the video was super informative. Thank you!

    • @Sabnoc1234
      @Sabnoc1234 6 років тому +6

      Well if you do it correctly, nobody will notice.
      But if you do a bad job (for example police sees your screws aren't tight enough) your car will lose its operating license and the police will probably impound your car for endangering the traffic.

      Exactly, that's why laws like this actually make sense and prevent botching.

    settle this. Are welded wheels multipiece? Cause that makes even stock steelies multipiece since they are two pieces welded together

    • @shisui7307
      @shisui7307 6 років тому

      Dariune no since you can't take them apart anymore

    • @Feamsterr
      @Feamsterr 6 років тому +1

      There is a difference between welded drag wheels and welded multi piece wheels. When he says old SSR, WORK, etc came welded he means exactly that. Back in the 90’s and early early 2000’s they would assemble the wheel, (as seen in this video) and after building the wheel, rather than sealing it shut with silicone, they would run a weld bead along the point where the lip and the barrel meet. Its actually fairly common practice for someone to come across an old set like this, and take them to a shop that specializes in debeading and grinding out the old weld, converting them to traditional silicone sealed wheels.

    • @FitmentIndustries
      @FitmentIndustries  6 років тому +1

      Depends, I have SSR Koenig's that I relipped and built. They were welded from factory but I cut the welds and split them. So it depends on how the face is sitting and where exactly it is welded. -Jasper

    is it ok to disassemble wheel without markings of how exactly the centerpiece was positioned to outer part? can this cause imbalance?

    • @Feamsterr
      @Feamsterr 6 років тому

      Whether your having lips made for faces you already own, or you’re having proper 3pc wheels made by a modern company like ESR, both the faces and the lips are machined to work in unison. You match the barrel holes to the lip holes to the face holes, bolt them in a star pattern, and the machined precision allows your wheel to have whats called a “true”. He was persistant on being careful when inserting the face during reassembly Because more often than not the face seats flush with the deepest part of the lip.

  • @Stue-e
    @Stue-e 6 років тому +1

    i recently bought a set of SSR Watanabe RS8's having trouble with stubborn bolts, it seems like they are captive, or pressed in somehow, not really sure how to get the face out, unless you're meant to bash the face out and hope the threads dont fck up/buy new hardware??
    anyone know how to remove the face on rs8 wheels? it looks easy but it isnt working out that way

    • @FitmentIndustries
      @FitmentIndustries  6 років тому

      I'm not entirely sure on the bolts but I used a microfiber with a wood 4x4 on top of it and hit the middle with the hammer. This seemed to be the best way of getting it out. I assume this is top mounted but if not you obviously have to take the wheels apart. -Jasper

    • @Stue-e
      @Stue-e 6 років тому

      I've seen forum posts with disassembled ones, but they date back to 2003-2007 (so very low chance they are still around to chat) the bolts would have to come out the same side the face does. because the nuts came out the back. Anyway, Thanks for the reply

    Alex tell the guys thanks for taking the time to help you make this video. Lots of gold nuggets of info in this vid. I have a topic I will like to see made. The culture of 28'+ in rims on donks etc.... A feature on this car culture would be cool to watch. Hmmm "The truth about" feature.??? Lots of people don't know about it either imo. It is a southern thing. lol check this article out for inspiration. www.carscoops.com/2018/07/chevrolet-camaro-32-inch-wheels-just-preposterous/
