    I have one that I bought from Lidl. It's a gorgeous little thing, and I bought it because I loved the name and the story behind it. However, I never put any of the vital research or time into it. I started studying Ag. at UCD, and thus have learned a little more about plants. It's doing really badly right now, so I'm hoping to kick the little fella back into shape. I of course need to change the pot because as per usual, Lidl sold it in a pot that was much too small. I think I may need to change the soil as well because root rot was instantly a problem.

      If you have to be careful with the watering why can you grow it fully in water?

    Thank you for this video. I mistakenly overwatered my old clusia houseplant recently and I’ve watched the leaves fall off all the top branches. The bottom ones can probably be rescued if cut them off and propagate them. I had no idea how to go that but then I found your video, yay! Gonna try both soil and water and hopefully at least one of the branches will survive🤞🏼🙏🏼🌱🪴

    Thank you very much for your video, very informative.
    Do you have any good tip for getting the plant to flower? I hear you say that it is not likely to flower indoors, I will move it outside as soon as the temperature will allow me to do so. Any other suggestion? many thanks!

    Just dropped $709 on 53 Clusia for my backyard to replace the ugly cherry hedges that came with my new house. That’s a lot to me but still less costly than a new fence. So wish me luck! Greetings from south Florida / north miamj!

    Hey! I have a question, my clusia rosea has developed some small brown spotts/dotts on some of the upper leafs, what does that mean? Why has that happened and how do i care for it?

    • @smartgardenguide2550
      @smartgardenguide2550  3 роки тому +2

      Clusia often get brown spots on the upper leaves due to trauma to the leaves, but its hard to be sure without more info. They're fairly disease resistant, so its unlikely to be this, especially on upper leaves. Excess direct sunlight could also cause issues with brown spots on the leaves, as could pests.
      ope you manage to get the problem worked out.
      Best wishes
      Andrew :)

      Hi Stephen
      Thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely be doing a video on citrus trees soon. I'm a huge fan of indoor citrus trees, whether fruit bearing or not. One of my favorite projects has been growing a lemon tree from a pip over the last few years. Such a delight to grow.
      Best wishes
      Andrew

    I've had several cuttings in water and soil for a month and nothing happened. They continue growing for a while but after a while the stem gets brown and it dies. I've tried to put them fresh in water, I've tried to let them dry for a couple of days and I've tried letting them dry for 2 weeks. No difference.
    No rooting hormone so far though.
    How do I troubleshoot? Any tips?

    I rooted a leaf and it grew nicely. Just noticed rust spots underneath the leaves. The front part is totally dark green. I think it might be infected ?? Wondering if I should get rid of it and try a new cutting. What would be the reason ?? Carolyn Mack. Thank you

    Hi! Thank you so much for this video. My autograph tree is kokedama which I find works really well and looks great. Today however I noticed one of the leaves snapped and at the edges where it snapped there’s lots of orange goo like sap, and i’ve noticed these orange spots appearing on some of the other leaves too. Is this something to worry about and what could I do to help this?

    Thank you for making this video! Very informative as always! I have one of these at home and I want to propagate when the winter is over. You mentioned that propagating is easy to do via stem cuttings and I know that it's also possible to just cut off a whole branch and put it in water or soil, but my tree is so symmetrical (and also quite small) that I'd rather not cut off that much if it's not necessary. Is it possible to propagate with a single leaf? Maybe if I carve a bit into the main stem when i cut it off? It has one or two leaves that aren't very attractive and I wouldn't mind cutting off.

    • @RosaX305
      @RosaX305 3 роки тому

      I have propagated them several times with no issue. I usually clip a two to three inch branch, and literally stick them in soil, water one and leave it alone. The lower leaves ALWAYS die but the upper lives always survive. In fact, I’ve turn ONE 4 ft Clusias into FIVE plants now in my yard. They do grown, also, They just love sandy soils near where I live in Miami. Wish you the best on your propagation!

    My clusia was doing great, then we put it outside for a couple of weeks in May but the temps at night were above 50. It probably got too much rain. We have had it inside since June now but it is not recovering well. Leaves turning yellow and falling off. Any suggestions?

The stem is covered in a white waxy substance all over. I wish I can send you a picture. I think it might insect damage. Any advice would be great please? Thanks Natalie

    Thanks for the video. I bought one of those cause I felt in love it once I saw it, but I am not being very good at looking after it. It is losing leaves often, though they are not going brown not yellow. So sad :( hopefully it is just because it is winter now.

    Do you need bare leaf nodes on the stem to propagate this plant? Or will the roots just grow out of the stem, like with a ZZ plant?
