  • How to delete the rear heater on a 2nd gen Toyota 4Runner. This creates space for a larger console, more storage. And also eliminates a bunch of components, thus fewer things to break or need repairs!

Thank you for the tip to delete the rear heater core.
I did it & now my truck is running hotter than normal, did you have that issue?

It shouldn't be much different. Since they came from Toyota both ways. I changed so much in mine it's hard to say. It's definitely running hot with AC on, which I never had before. I had to take the offroad lights ofg the front.

You are my hero!! Just got my 2nd gen 4runner and want to give her a make-over but I know nothing about cars. This is really helpful. Thank you!

Thanks for the info! Is the connection in engine bay same for 1st gen? Can’t figure out where the two lines connect. Right now just two lines coming out of the firewall.

Thanks for this. Removing that heater would allow one to either modify the console so it is deeper to hold more stuff, or find one at a junkyard and modify it to mount to the floor bracket and also install the switches that are on the OEM console. It has always bothered me how little room there was for storage in the center console.

You got it. That's the goal. Better storage is more useful than rear heat for me. 👍
