hello babies! I loved using this sweet watercolour set! as promised here are the colours that contain some fluorescent pigment: CfM Seashell (only around 1%!) CfM Rose CfM Fuchsia CfM Ruby CfM Coral CfM Poppy CfM Turmeric CfM Moss CfM Glow CfM Lime CfM Cypress CfM Plum CfM Lupine personally, for every day work I love the colours with fluorescent pigment because they're SO LUSH irl, and because I can just photograph them - but for jobs like book projects where the publisher prefers to send the artwork off to a professional scanner, I would have to use something else!
Thanks so much for this, I've seen CfM a lot on IG and was so happy to see this video pop up on my feed! Question: fluorescent pigments also tend to be fugitive/not lightfast, is that correct? So they're not really good for original works that you're going to frame and sell because the colors will change or fade, right?
@@c.m.1311 yes, afaik. Often Opera Pink? Opera Rose? is a professional color with fluorescent addition and it's known to be fugitive. Those might mot be professional quality. For handmade professional, look for Roman Szmal watercolors for example (there for sure are more).
I just love CFM. I live a short BART ride away from the shop and wish I visited more often. When we were having terrible fires here in California, there was a morning when we all woke up to day but it was dark as night. Eventually the skies turned into a crazy color of brown and orange. We couldn't see anything but that color everywhere. CFM made a watercolor paint that is almost exactly that shade of the sky that one day. It's amazing. And you have it - it's called Climate Change is Real!
Most of us are here for art….not to be indoctrinated 😂😂😂 But….since you brought it up 😅 Not sure if you realize this….but “climate change” had been going on since the creation of earth. There have been “ice ages”, deserts have once been tropical rain forrests with lots of water, some scientists believe Antarctica was once a continent of life instead of ice, etc. Today, they believe we are headed towards a hot, dry, and polluted future. But did you know that in the 60s-70s they used to believe we were headed towards another ice age? I remember as a child in the 90s, some scientists, teachers, & people on tv still taught that! You also mentioned forest fires in California. Did you know that there are some trees whose pinecones don’t open unless exposed to the intense heat of a forest fire? Some of these pine tree species, believe it or not, exist in…..California!!! 😂😂😂😂
Oh cool! I’m from San Francisco, and actually was just at the Case for Making store this past weekend! It’s a really cool shop to visit if you ever find your way here in the bay. There’s also a really cute bookshop and general store on either side of Case for Making, plus Golden Gate park is a few blocks away. 🎉❤
I looooove Case For Making !! I’m so happy to see you using their watercolors!! They are handmade here in San Francisco and their shop is the cutest ever !!! Haaaa im so happy to see that 🎉😊
I am personally also a hater of how a lot of brands organise their palettes lmao colour swatches and just practicing colour mixing is always a go to whenever I’m burnt out, I think it’s a great activity that is low effort and looks great at the end
New furry little peach video means I gotta grab my sketchbook and sketch/paint with you ^^ Just exactly what I needed right now hahaha. Can't wait for your tokyo vlog!!
I’ve been in such a creative block as well, but I love your set up of small paper scraps and just messing around. Maybe I need to do something similar to warm up!
I LOOOOOVE CfM, and Alexis is the absolute sweetest. I’ve only bumped into her a few times while shopping at the store, but the chats have had me leaving the shop in a better mood ☺️♥️✨
hi sha’an!! i just wanna say i’ve been watching alllll your videos here on youtube and they are so comforting and motivating and relatable. i appreciate you for sharing what you do ❤
I think your use of watercolor adds another layer of texture and character to whatever subject you paint. it looks really great I cant believe this is you that is burned out wow
I hope you’re having an amazing time in Japan! Absolutely needed this video amidst the hell of moving house - so satisfying ☺️ see you next time xxx stay safe! 💛
I had the same issue with scanning bright colors and it turns out its cause the scanner I have has an LED light in it (they are usually the thin scanners) but I tried some fluorescent colors with this super old non LED scanner and it picked the colors up fine! I hope this helps you capture your beautiful art in the future!
I'm not sure if it's the only thing, scanners can scan a lot more low-contrast or blown out which can affect the subtlety it captures HOWEVER, fluro pencil, crayons and now some of these watercolours show up so faintly. That's why fluro pencils are great for construction lines, because they disappear when u scan or photocopy hehehe
These paints look lovely. I loved the video. The only thing I’d disagree with is saying that watercolours can’t achieve as smooth à gradient as gouache or Acrylic gouache. On cheaper watercolours I’d say sure that can be impossible, but with professional grade ones it’s defo possible ❤️💙💛
Acrylic ink** is what I meant and imo acrylic ink settles itself a lot easier than watercolour does in my experience. You can still get smooth gradients with watercolour but I feel like its almost effortless to get smoother gradients with acrylic ink

for scanning, if you use a ccd scanner you can actually scan the neon colors and get great results! :)

I feel like I don't have any creative ideas when i'm burnt out. This is me and ny old bag of tricks with things i usually draw !!!
i too am a package hoarder when the packing is too cute!
I will look up CFM, which is just across the bay! Thanks Sha'an! I love creamy WC! ❤
really nice greens in that paint 🙂
Love! This reminds me of how much I loved painting with watercolors. Been stuck in digital for awhile :,)
Eee! aw you should dip your toe back in, it's always super refreshing!!!
Beautiful watercolors! ❤️ Thanks for the video.

Ahhhhh this was so soothing to watch 🪐 I've been using CfM since 2020 and loooove them, recently got a bunch new pans from their spring sale :') 🎨🤍✨
I hope you’re having an amazing time in Japan! Absolutely needed this video amidst the hell of moving house - so satisfying ☺️ see you next time xxx stay safe! 💛

@@furrylittlepeach A peach break with have to do the trick...
The gasp I gasped when I saw the price of that set. Thanks for showing it off so I can enjoy its beauty!

I didn't realise that fluro is what makes colours not show up in a scan. These watercolours look so lovely to use though. Loved the vlog

@@furrylittlepeach Oh i see!! Thank you for the helpful info - oooh that is good to know re construction lines!!
I really wanna try handmade watercolours, they seem so different 😊
Seeing Sha’an use watercolour again feels so nostalgic for some reason. Good luck with your burnt out!
I actually feel nostalgic over it too tbh!
I love your New watercolors ❤❤❤
First time catching your video early! I love your work and your energy. 💛
thanks sweet pea!
Thanks for being my lesson planning buddy with this upload today Sha'an!! ✨💛💛
P.S. lmk when you're in SF I'll give u and rocket a tour!
These paints look amazing! Do you have any recommendations for cameras that are good enough quality for photographing artwork?
Have you tried the brands Mijello and Holbein? They scan beautifully.
I've never tried mijello but i have tried holbein before. My Sennelier watercolours scan nicely too but i like how these feel and look better!
I loved it❤,could we make one of acrylic gouche? Will we see a video of your trip?
Wow! What kind of big round brush do you use?
Something new always helps chase the blues or Starbucks
Could you show how you photograph your art one day please❤
📢📢📢📢📢 What camera is she using? Can somebody tell me?
This girl just manage to teleport herself from Tokio to give us this beautiful video 😊
hahahah

I don't think I've ever been this early before. Hope everyone is having an amazing day/night! 💕
hope you do too!
Wait, does the "glow" paint....glow in the dark?
OMG I didn't check that! I thought that it just looked like a glow in the dark colour. Let me check:
@@furrylittlepeach I just looked it up and it doesn't :( but it still looks lovely.
I bet it does under black light!
@@shoopaloop I think all the paints that contain fluro would under black light! but yeah, just to confirm 'GLOW' doesn't glow in the dark
Omg I'm SO EARLY - Yayyy
heheheh welcome early bird! 🐛
hi!!!
hey cutie! ;-)
$304.00. Wow extremely expensive !!
Yeah, especially for such chalky paints
First 🎉
