Nature is not a Disney film about Bambi. Most people know jack about nature. A deer is a herbivore and a prey animal which means they, especially the young, are food for numerous predators.
Yup, but you apparently haven't seen deer, Sheep, Horses, squirrels, chipmunks, spermophiles, etc eating ground or undergrowth nesting birds, their nestlings and eggs, of birds caught in bird bander's nets. Tree squirrels will of course eat birds high up in the tree canopy. Like bears, they have no instinct to kill defenseless prey before eating; it's pretty horrifying to see and hear squirrels and deer eating screaming towhees, Ovenbirds, or birds caught in nets as if they were pieces of plant material. Very few vertebrate animals are completely herbivorous; browsers and grazers ingest lots of insects and other invertebrates even if they aren't engaging in opportunistic predation on other vertebrates.
@@motherlandbot6837 A doe and her two fawns are living on my wooded property as I write this. I fail to see what your comment has to do with mine. What I do understand is nature. Nothing horrifying about it at all. Your affection for avians does nothing to change the predator/prey relationship which has worked quite well for nature for hundreds of millions of years.
@@biggootz You completely misinterpreted my comment. Deer, like most primarily herbivorous vertebrates, are also opportunistic predators. Like most opportunistic predators, such as squirrels, bears, etc, they have little prey killing drive, so they eat animals as if they are plant material. Did I claim anywhere that intentional cruelty is involved? A bear does the same thing as a deer, but most laypeople are unfamiliar with the predatory side of deer, Sheep, tortoises, etc, while the predatory side of bears (which with the exceptions of Polar and Sloth Bears, are mostly plant eaters by necessity if not by choice) is familiar to most people. I cited birds because they are the most frequent vertebrate prey of primary herbivores such as deer and squirrels. Baby rodents and lagomorphs are next on the list. You could see the doe watching from the top after she heard the call. Weird to see them that far apart. On the bright side the bear may have cubs to feed with the meat.
Fawns are easy meals for bears without them bears could possibly go extinct and the whole natural order would fall apart. That or they feed on your pets and children , so which one you prefer ?
To all the fawn rescuers......:this bear isn't a vegetarian....like most humans are not.....for a bear a fawn is a yummy much needed source of food...like we go to a steak place....only difference? The steak doesnt baa....
@Ryan Plethra Nah not necessarily, I actually had no idea what was going on, it surprised me. I have no problem with nature taking course, but would prefer it ate an older animal that was no longer contributing to the gene pool
Bears can be among the most merciless predators. It as if they enjoy hearing the screams of their victims. At least this poor fawn met its end quickly.
I love animals, and no, it doesn't suck. One should learn to understans and appreciate nature as it really is, and not some Disney channel kind of portrayal of it.
Baby Moose, Wapiti, and Red Deer are also called "calves". While there is no scientific basis for the linguistic distinction, "fawn" most often is used for baby deer with white concealment spots, and "calf" for larger species of deer that are more uniformly colored in infancy.
I can't help but be a bit angry at the bear even though I understand it doesn't understand and needs to eat. Maybe my anger is better leveled at the creator - but who am I to judge!?
@@rex-up9ln Well considering reality alters the way it behaves depending on whether we are taking a measurement or making an observation - then yes I'd say there is definitely a creator.
if only we could Arm the Deer. Maybe put them in a Tank or something. German WWII. Get some helmets on 'im. A Blackhawk helicopter with Night Vision might also help. Deer are like "Who drew THIS game up?!" i.e Perp-wildlife get teeth/jaw/claws - while deer get HOOVES. Gee thanks. At the right angle they can kick it - wonderful.

The fawn didn't screem long, so at least it suffered probably a relatively quick death.
at 1:34 you can see mom in the background...she heard her baby but couldn't help.

Hey, Boo Boo! So Mr. Ranger doesn't want to let us have picnic baskets? This'll show him!
Seemed like a very fast kill for a bear on baby situation, wish it was always like that.
Ah, fawns...The cheeseburgers of the forest.
Deer; it's what's for dinner.
Bear; you
Hey, that is a beautiful bear. Still growing and is hungry.
No different from us feeding ourselves cheeseburgers and steaks.
They gotta eat too
Absolutely.
Except we dont watch or completely see the slaughter genius.
I wonder how many vegans are actually in this comment section ?

The beauty of nature at times, can be so cruel. It sucks to those who love animals.
No I don't eat meat at all.
hdolf aitler who asked you..you old fool.
Whete was the cruelty. Bear ate its food source. Natures number one rule..something must die for something else to live

An atv I thought you were on a tractor, you need to have an exaust put on that thing. That bear heard you from fifty miles away.
It's really loud, It's a Gator, very useful but loud.
i gotta hunt and search for deer and this fukr just picks it up in a field!!!! (sooo pissed) >:(
Hahaha love the agony of that fawn. Mother couldn't do anything. Well, sucks to be born into a world only to be eaten as a baby fawn. LOL!
Cubs . Mom what for dinner
Mother black bear .baby fawn for dinner kids

Ugh I just don’t like bears. I prefer when they cannibalize each other.
holy shit! poor mom
Where was this, if I may ask
Bears rule.
No action until 1:35.
Isn't a baby deer called a hind?
I think the female is a hind, but you're right in the sense that I don't think it's called a calf, not sure.
I think it's called a doe
A female is a doe, a baby is a calf or more commonly called a fawn.
Thank you
Scott Perry no it’s called Bambi

I'm hungry now.

Why? Because they're predators? If your going to love nature, love all of it.
