We still do that in my country Malta, we call them Figolli. We make the sweet dough but then make shapes with cutters and on one shape then we put almond mix, then cover it with the same shape. When baked then it is decorated either with coloured icing or chocolate and a small easter egg is put on it. These are not only for the children but even given as Easter gifts to family, relatives and fruends. Vi auguro una Buona Pasqua 😊.

You remind me of my childhood in Latrobe Pennsylvania so many Italian grammas that my friends had I was so jealous that my Grammies couldn’t cook everything like they did she cooked a lot but not all. My Mamma use to make these, also baby chicks, dove etc.They looked so real. We felt bad to break them and eat them. I enjoyed baking with her Unfortunately, I lost her 2 years ago. I still keep the tradition going, but its hard and very painful. She also used to sing. OHHHHH the memories I wish I video taped her to share her wonderful recipes she cooked and baked. Cherish every moment with your Mom, trust me its so painful when they are no longer here. I lost my Papa, years ago. It was very painful, however I still had my Mamma and now she is also gone. God Bless !!!!!!!
Brookaleena , I feel the same, I lost my mom 3 yrs. ago ( 91) . I did take pictures of all the steps to make these and all her Sicilian pastries and cookies. Happy Easter 🐣🐣🐣
Joan, sorry for your loss. I have photos of my Mamma cooking and baking, however videos are so much better. To hear her sing and speak in broken English, ohhhhhh the memories. My Mom just turned 86 when she passed . I miss baking cooking with her especially around the holidays. Thank you, have a blessed Easter!!
