I've found it's less about the size of the laptop and more about the weight. The 15" Air seems to be well within that threshold where you're "carrying" it, instead of "lugging" it. Also, not having to pinch your legs together so much when it's on your lap can make things way more comfortable.
I have the exact opposite opinion tbh. Thickness is the least important for portability, yes it doesn't look great, but realistically that's not the dimension you're limited in, weight is a lot more important but still pretty easy to ignore up to a point (up to 2.5kg is 100% fine, over that gets tougher but is usually tolerable), while the width and height make it hard to fit in many places and, at least for me, harder to use as I can't even balance it very well on my legs.
@@awwastor Weight is the thing I notice most. an extra 1 or 2 pounds may not sound like much, but when it's digging into your shoulder in a laptop satchel, you notice. Similarly, it being lighter means it's easy to move around regardless of size. If you can effortlessly pick it up by the corner, who cares what the width is.
@@iangascoigne8231 I'm not complaining that the Air 15" weighs more, I'm saying it's relative lightness to the Macbook Pro is what makes it a compelling 15".
@@soviut303 If by weighing less it makes you more like to buy it, you are complaining about weight. My point is valid, if it were to weigh a bit more it would put you off from buying it. It’s not my fault that you don’t understand the comment.
Its kinda neat how even with the same access to that hardware and tech (and probably even people) that the main LTT channel has, the MA channel can shoot these videos and have their own completely different feel and editing style. Its a great subtle touch that actual take quite a bit of skill to pull off.
I dunno, I think they are covering all the bases from a marketing angle. LTT channel tends to rubbish Macs at every chance and Mac Address is simply there for this of us who use Macs - despite the rantings of the main channel. I'm not anti-PC - I've used both OS and hardware platforms since the days of Windows 98 and the Mac Clones.
Mac Adress is awesome. As someone who switched away from an iPhone because of how restrictive Apple chooses to be (fdroid/third party store, launcher), these Videos are still great. They objectively talk about the products, while marking their opinion clearly. Most Apple-focused channels I found always shyed away from critiquing them, and only talk about the good things. I never manage to finish such videos. But MA finds a great balance while having great production quality. My device of choice will still run open source Android (GrapheneOS) and Linux, but it's good to know what else is out there.
As a wedding photographer, you nailed it regarding this laptop. It's perfect for the kinds of work I do. I like to rush edit about 20 photos during the reception as a surprise to the bridal party and the size is really great for quick turnarounds and for showing people the finished photos.
@@RealGengarTV Most likely not. 16GB is fine for the kind of shooting I do. Though with camera sensors getting bigger and bigger it wouldn't be a bad option for longevity.
@@RealGengarTVIf wedding photography was my main job and have to juggle multiple gigs at the same time, it would definitely be worth the money. Exactly :) My choice of tech is 16" MBP M1 Pro + iPhone 13 mini. Although I like the screen of iPhone Pros a lot, due to its peak brightness, as it's easier to use and navigate under the sunlight, the size is just beyond comfortable and I'm a regular human 6" tall.
I tend to use medium sizes for both. An iPhone 13 and a 14 inch MacBook Pro. this way its not too small that I'm missing out nor too big such that it hampers my portability
I don't keep up with Apple announcements, so when I figured out this was a thing and the reviews were generally positive I went right out and got one. As a developer, I love the larger screen. So far it's the best laptop I've ever owned. My previous laptop was a 15" plastic HP that mouse clicked every time I handled it because it flexed so much. Mine is the base model that I got for ~$1100 as an open box deal. And of course I got it in Starlight, such a great color.
@@jake.bennett as a computer repair guy, i was shoo'ing people away from those older airs left and right because of the high failure rate of the motherboards with baked in storage, because most people who bought a cheap air DIDNT pay for the cloud backup storage, and they were losing lots of valuable stuff when that board would fail.

Growing up the family computer was always a 15” laptop, it’s just what I’m used to. For the work I do at this moment my 11” iPad Pro more than does the job, but I absolutely see myself upgrading to a full on 16” MacBook Pro within the next year.
The consideration when already owning an iPad is a big one. Having already owned a 10-inch Pro and a 13" MBPr, I'd probably stretch for this 15" Air to fill in the gap where the iPad is too small to be comfortable but I don't want to be locked down to a desktop.
I have been a long time LTT fan, but their change in editing pushed me away. THIS, this is much more my style now. No wonder these videos take time. I can see and feel the care each upload has. Hope you continue to be my defacto Apple-centered content creator. I just the love the vibe your channel teleports me to!
For someone who does some light video editing, but a fair amount of pretty intense coding, the 15" MacBook Air has been incredible! I specced one out with 512GB of storage but 24GB of RAM, simply because I can store video files on a thunderbolt external drive, but my IDE sessions hog memory (thanks JVM/IntelliJ). The screen real-estate of the 13" offerings had me buying MacBook Pros for such a long time, and I was nervous to "step down" to an Air, but my god, I love this laptop so much!
think 24gb 15 inch air good for full stack development? (using spring/mysql/react) asking since you mentioned you use intellij and need ram cause of the jvm
@@TheVikingRaid For a single project using your specified stack, 24GB is gonna be absolutely fine. Might even be ok with 16, but giving yourself headroom is never a bad idea. On my work-provided 16" MBP with 64GB of RAM, I'm usually running with about 50GB used because I have like 10-12 different JVM projects open at once with multiple front-end debuggers and a couple DBs. But, for personal projects, the 15" MacBook Air is a dream.
14 is the sweet spot for me (especially as a frequent traveller). Big enough to be useful but not too big to not get pulled out of the bag in restaurants or on planes.
My 12" Macbook gets the most use, because of it's size and weight. The 15" Pro is relegated to secondary desktop duty unless I *need* performance on the go - its awkwardly big to conveniently carry. Both unfortunately require excessive quantities of dongles to go with them because they're all C-type connectors.
Funny how Mac Address is probably LTT's best channel yet. The production is always consistent and does not adhere to 1 uploads a day that other channels do.
This is absolutely the least problematic channel and the most insightful one under LMG. Virtually drama free and a “stay in my own lane” vibe. I appreciate that about this channel
Fun fact: only after seeing it in miniaturized form on those graphs, did I finally realize the MacBook Air M2’s new desktop wallpaper spells out “AIR”. And I bought one (in silver, of course, I’m old school like that), it comes printed on the box, and I’m a type designer, so you’d expect me to see it right away. 😅
Honestly, I still want them to update the 13” Pro to the new design and keyboard. Or at least give the 13” Air a better thermal solution. The former seems more likely though since I’m guessing they gutted the heat sink on the Air so the Pros compare more favorably in sustained pro work

24GB of memory is only hard to justify because of the absurd margins Apple has on every tiny upgrade. I have not built a PC with less than 32GB memory in probably 8 years now, and the massive difference it makes in how much stuff you can have open and running smoothly is well worth the extra 100-200 bucks vs 16GB. I have a Mac Mini with only 16GB, and it's torture at times. Even basic multitasking becomes impossible, especially as a web developer where having a large codebase and Photoshop or Illustrator open at the same time is a requirement.
I use a Macbook Pro M2 24GB unified memory (shit touch bar model) for work and an M2 Air 16GB unified memory for personal and honestly I can’t tell the difference between the two for my workflows photo/video editing/light gaming

I'm with you on small laptops. My philosophy has always been that everything should be the best version of itself. For me, that means I have always loved the smallest, laptoppiest laptop to ever top a lap. When I traded in my 11" Intel-based MacBook Air for a 13" M1 Air, I already felt I was going too big. But I'm noticing that my eyes aren't quite as young as they used to be, so I sometimes struggle to read the fuzzy squiggles on my 13" screen. I'm thinking it's at least time to check out a larger screen. Like you, though, I'm pretty skeptical of the large size. So we'll see.
Indeed, but it’s still very thin and light, and it’s still a bit cheaper (especially in Europe, where the pricing is completely bonkers right now). I bought a fully kitted out one, because I’m mostly writing and giving classes over the next year, but may want to push the machine a little bit more down the road and want it to last (but, as I have a Studio and decent, 27’’ 4K screens at home, not having a Pro model isn’t that big of an issue).
Apple really does have some weird base model offerings but I guess it’s all psychology. I can’t see buying anything other than a 14” pro to be honest. My biggest gripe with them isn’t base price but how much they charge for upgrades. I think the machines are worth the money but not when it comes it increasing your specs.
I had the same policy as you 14" was the best. It is not because of the screen size, it is because of the laptop size. In around 2015, display's bezel started getting thinner. Making 16" laptop has slightly bigger size than 14"
Back to School advice has never gotten this easier than before. You don’t need to spend a exorbitant amount of money for a overpowered Pro. Get an Air if you need/want a Mac since it’s such a good value.
15-16 inch is absolutely the best size for me. As a designer and photographer and programmer and gamer, I just couldnt get anything done on a screen smaller than that. For the past 7 months ive only had my 15.6 inch laptop to work with, and not my big external monitor to expand it, and it was painful.
I actually downgraded from my M1 max 16” MacBook Pro to the 15” MacBook Air and I absolutely love it. I feel like I wasn’t taking advantage of all the power that the 16” offered and I really like the portability and lightness of the air. The only thing I miss is the other USB-C port on the right side next to the headphone jack so when I’m laying in bed, it’s just easy to charge while watching stuff.
As a photographer, I regularly push against and beyond the 32GB of ram in my 16” M1 Max (Capture One can now use about 28GB on its own), and can drive nearly all cores sustained loads for hours on end. I tried editing as I normally do on my wife’s 13” M2 Air and it saturated and throttled down shockingly quickly. I can’t imagine the 15” would make for a very fun work day.
I'm a huge tech guy. In both senses. I love large monitors, large phones, large tablets, and, yes, large laptops. I used a 17" Dell Inspiron N7110 from 2010 until the motherboard died in 2016... at which time I got an 17" HP Envy. For my music tech minor, I got a 2015 15" MBP to use with Logic, Garage Band, and other music software. It made me realize that 15" is a much better size than 17 inches. If I could afford it, I'd definitely spring for the upgraded 15" Air.
I think you're much better off buying an M1 Pro 14" MBP than any config 15" MBA. I went to the Apple Store on the 15" launch day and I was completely underwhelmed. It feels much heavier than the 13" M1 and M2 MBAs. And the dimensions aren't too far away from the 16" MBP.
@@Senihmo Why don't you go to the store and hold it back to back with the 16" like I did. In practical terms, you'll find there is very little difference. There is a much larger difference between 13" and 15".

Too bad I love my 16inch m2 macbook pro, I love curling its mass but it's still so light compared to previous windows laptops. I used 13" macbooks (pros and airs) since 2010 and the move to macbook air 15" was pretty easy. The bezel is thin so it's not much larger than it has to be, its not too thick and not too heavy, kinda remind me the portability of 13" macbook pro. My main issue with this laptop is that the top of the screen (to the left and right of the notch) is unusable space, the only thing it can show is the macos top bar, and in full screen its just becomes black and unused for content. I don't like the notch but if it's already there, at least let me use the whole screen space around it.
There’s a big problem not mentioned in the video for someone who can benefit from multiple screen productivity workloads: the air can only support up to one external display. Sure this isn’t a problem if all you’ll ever need is 2 total screens, but maybe you already have two monitors, or you want to keep your desk setup clean with two similar monitors. The pro can support two, the air only one. If the air could support two it would be an automatic by for me
A new version of the 12 inch macbook is the thing I've been waiting for ever since apple silicon got introduced. For now I'm using an 11 inch ipad with the keyboard instead.
Form factor is awesome, screen is nice, battery is solid. But this should be the official end of the base models getting 8GB RAM/256GB SSDs. It won't be, but it should. My base model started memory swapping with four Safari tabs, Mail, Pages, and Activity monitor open.
2:30 it gets much heavier when you hold it this way. so if you ever run around with a laptop like this (e.g. film set), get the smaller one. I still wish they would made a 12 inch under 1kg.
Tried everything from 11” to 18”, and I have to conclude that I fall into the “as large as it gets” camp. I’d happily get a new backpack to log a 20” laptop around.
I just got a 13" MacBook Air M1 for $724 at Best Buy... took advantage of the Back to School tax holiday in FL to save nearly $350 total off the price direct from Apple. Perfect compliment to my Mac Mini M1.
Just bought one of these for my photographer wife to replace a 12" Retina Macbook - it seemed like the best fit. The lack of an SD card slot at that price and size is dumb, but I was not prepared to pay the Apple tax for a Macbook Pro with the same specs.
I'm angling to upgrade from my 13" MBP from 2014 and will likely get the 14" MBP when I do. The Air is certainly nice, but as a developer I prefer access to at least 32GB of RAM (maybe with M3 on the Air), but also the Pro CPU is better for compiling, the display being 120Hz makes everything feel responsive, and the inclusion of an HDMI port to connect to most presentation hardware setups means one less dongle to carry around. Like you I very much prefer smaller laptops, though, so the 14" is the sweet spot for that. Sadly lots of employers think oh, you code all day and probably want a bigger screen, so my current employer gave me a massive 17" XPS and the client I was assigned to have me a 15" Lenovo, and I'm all cooooool, I hook this up to a single external display anyway. Fortunately both support USB-C for charging and video so I can use a single cable, but on the (admittedly rare) occasion I have to tote either around it's not fun, especially the 17" behemoth.
Small Laptop guy as well. Loved the MacBook 12 for years, and only let go for the M2 Pro Air 13”. Quite happy. Ditto on the other side TB port. One unknown fact is even with the M2 Pro the 13 and 15 won’t support two TB4 40gb/s devices at the same time, the second device operates at TB3 10 Gb/s speed. If you ask Apple about it bc the specs say two TB4 ports, they’ll just say that the spec site is not wrong, it’s just that you can’t use both ports a TB4 speed at the same time. They will tell you that you need to get a MacBook Pro for that.
I love this laptop. As a professional photographer with occasional video, it might be ideal. I'll just have to test the performance of the 16GB model. My biggest question is: how long during a photo export will it start to thermal throttle the CPU. On paper, it's 2x faster than my 2020 13" MBP. But that doesn't matter if throttling starts after 3 minutes....
The 15 MacBook Air is the first Mac that I bought without needing to watch any review videos. Ever since I let go of my 2013 15" MacBook Pro I've been yearning for a good 15" and this laptop was an instant commitment the first time I finally got my hands on it at the Apple Store.
The thickness brings it back to 15in Touch Bar portability, which recently after getting my hands on one, I forgot about how thin and portable that chassis
For me, the ideal laptop is the 14" MBP, BUT the ideal screen size is the 16". See, I've been a devoted fan of Apple's 15" MBP's since 2009. The older 17" was just too much. 13" was just too small. Then came the 2016-2020 generation. I upgraded from a 2011 that was on its last legs and... hated it. Now, I know that generation was more form over function, but it wasn't the I/O, or the keyboard, or the touch bar, or any of that. It was the trackpad. And it wasn't until I got a 14" M1 Max MBP that I realized the mistake I had been making for the last half a decade. The larger MBP's have, unsurprisingly, a larger trackpad. And that made it incredibly uncomfortable for my hands. Yes, there's palm rejection, but I *still* always found it to move the cursor around unexpectedly or get in the way. So I'd hold my hands at really awkward angles. I wanted to downsize to a 14" - Only 1" of difference from the 15" I knew and loved, and quite a bit of cost savings over the larger 16". Plus I'm usually running docked anyway. And I got it out of the box and realized my hands were comfortable. Like... really comfortable. I didn't know why until I heard someone talk about how they loved the 16" because of the larger trackpad. I looked at existing pictures and... yeah. The older 13" MBPs all had the same size my 14" has now. And I love it. I thoroughly enjoy using my laptop when not docked. And I could've enjoyed it sooner had I just gone for a 13". I still crave the real estate of the larger screen, but I've been very happy downsizing my iPad to an 11" Pro (though the lack of the Mini LED screen is stupid) and my MBP to a 14". I will likely never return to the larger models. The screen size is better, but the portability wins.
I've been using a 13" 2020 M1 MacBook Air that my job gave me for about a week now. It's my first time really using MacOS, and it feels like plenty of laptop. It's very snappy, the battery life is great, and it never feels like it falls short for any work tasks. Sure, it can't really game well, but I don't really like doing a whole lot of that on a laptop anyways. Only thing I've really had to get used to is the control/command button change and lack of numpad, but the keyboard is plenty big and so easy to type on. Display is great too. Coming from a 15.6" Windows 10 laptop that I wasn't too excited about using through college, I think 13" might be enough in this case.

I was actually happy to see the numpad go. I always felt it redundant.
Personally 16 inches is the perfect laptop for me, as I use it as a mobile workstation. The 16 inch m1 mbp is still far lighter than the gaming laptops I used to carry and gives me a full workstation at any cafe or bench I find myself at
I've still been travelling with my 2013 MacBook Air with 11" display. It has been pretty ideal. If there's going to be 13" M3 Air with OLED display, I think it's going to be my next laptop. I kind of already wanted a new one, but have been waiting for OLED because I know I would regret buying anything without. I really need my blacks. Though, I also don't like the webcam arrangement in the M2 so I hope the next one doesn't cut to the screen.
I’ve owned both 16” amd 13” Mac Pro laptops over the years, and when the M1 Max MacBook was announced, I went back to the smaller size. I learned that I prefer to backpack the smaller laptop, and the Pro models can drive one or more Apple Studio Displays or other photographer/video editor appropriate displays. That’s all I need at home or on the road.
I actually do not want to unsub from this one specifically, and that is as a die hard Linux user. This channel is proof that less uploads, but more quality uploads = results.
The 15'' Air is everything I'd want out of a laptop, but pricing in Scandinavia has made it basically a nonstarter, for me at least. After taxes and the always unfair price conversion, the Air 15 base model *starts* at 1800 US. Anything above that and we're talking over 2000 dollars for even the smallest spec bump. Once you hit that kind of cost, you might as well buy a secondhand 14 Pro Max or the like.
At 2:15 you talk about the 15” Air better filling the big laptop pockets of “most bags.” I ended up preferring the 14” MacBook Pro because it goes in the other direction. The 14” MBP is smaller by just enough that it still fits easily into my slim, less bulky bag sized for my iPad and old 13” MBP. And the 14” MBP screen actually has more pixels than the 15” Air, so there is more actual room to spread out work. For 15 years I carried those 15” laptops. Thanks to the 14” MBP, my new rule is, don’t choose a laptop that will make me go back to hauling a bulkier full size backpack. Even though the 15” Air is not for me, I still think it’s great that it is now an option for those who do need something bigger than the 13” Air without having to pay a huge premium to get to the 16” Pro, as you said.
Man, if I were you I would be sure to get at a minimum 512gb of storage and 16gb of ram, that things gonna be used for the next 8 years or so hopefully
How I value a laptop's screen size has changed over time. When I was in college, I daily drove a 2013 15" MacBook Pro and I loved that thing. Now that I don't have as much use for a laptop in a working environment, a 13" screen has become preferable
Was looking at this but then remembered it doesn't have a replaceable SSD. With large pictures and files moving around, that's a deal breaker. Nice laptop tho
I've always gone with the largest laptop Apple makes (well, except my first MacBook Pro in 2007, where I had to settle for a 15" because the 17" at $2800 was just too dang expensive for high-school-me). For me, laptops mainly sit in one place, with the portability just being a bonus for when I want to roam, so getting the largest screen just made sense. But I've never needed the power offered by those larger machines, so it was a LOT of monetary waste to step up. The 15" Air solves that dilemma nicely... seemingly. With the release of the lower-end 14" M3 MacBook Pro, which for only $100 more than the 15" Air actually offers a higher resolution display, *that* could actually be the best way to go, if you're willing to scale the display. I'll need to try them side-by-side in the store, but on paper, it seems to really cannibalize the Air. Either way, when Apple releases the 15" M3 Air, they really ought to drop the price another $100 or so to stay competitive.
Im still stuck with the MBP14 as I need native dual display support. Also I need more then 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. By the time you upgrade the MBA you should have just got a MBP14, so it’s still the MBP14 for me.
We are all starting to forget, but the 12” MacBook was noticeably lighter again. As for screen size, it’s weird to me how people say they notice the native resolution quality but then complain that the pixels are too small when putting more onto a smaller screen. It’s almost iconic how 13-inch screens have become a goldilocks size. (I say this as I use my 51-inch 8K display that, I am sorry to report, feels normal now)
My previous laptop was 13 and while very portable, sometimes didn't feel big enough to see all I wanted to see. Before that I had a 15 and while the screen was a nice size, the system as a whole felt very big. I currently have a 14 that feels very nice, but I could see these latest 15s being good too now that the bezels have shrunk significantly and they've brought the weight down.
In my eye, the 15 inch Macbook Air is essentially the final nail in the coffin for the Dell XPS brand. The Apple Silicon Macs already made it difficult to justify the XPSs over it, but the one thing it had over the Macbooks was a larger display option for a lot less...until now. Now unless the software you use is only on Windows, there's little to no reason to get an XPS laptop anymore since the Macbooks are cheaper, faster, and have miles better battery life.
Hilarious that people make a big deal about unsubbing from a channel because an idiot in the parent company acted like a scumbag while the guy who makes videos for this channel has done nothing wrong. If you're punishing Jonathan's hard work for Linus' actions, then you're doing it in bad faith and in my opinion, it makes just as bad as Linus.
I haven't used too many laptops, but my desktop setup is a Mac Studio with 2 4K displays, so I love having more screen space. My current work laptop is a 13-inch MacBook Pro from 2014. Been thinking about finally upgrading it, not that I need to. It does everything I need for work, but it does need a battery replacement (lasts 2-3 hours, if lucky) and the screen itself is suffering from a defect. No dead pixels, but a layer of whatever is on the display is coming off. Looks gross. The other "issue" with the 2014 MacBook Pro I have is that the value is "ready for recycle", so I won't be able to even get anything for it. Would be more of a donation piece to someone who would maybe want to invest time/money in changing the battery and display.
Amazing to hear that a MBP from 2014 is still working. You really must have been taking great care of it. Well done! Btw if you keep it always plugged in instead of using it on the battery, does it still work? Is there any issue you experience that way? 2-3 hours is not really much so I’m thinking you are just better off it keeping it plugged in at all times and just forget about the battery.
@@evidenceplz I got the MBP 2nd hand from a former co-worker. I've had it maybe 2 years now and I keep excellent care of it. Due to the condition of the battery, I do pretty much leave it plugged in at all times, while in use. On rare occasions that I do need to unplug it to move around my workplace with it, I can't have it off of the charger for more than a few hours before it'll die. Even the system information app tells me to have the battery serviced.
@@Lord_Mangoat nice. If there’s no swelling of the battery or overheating, then just continue to use it plugged in like you are already doing. :) But do make sure there’s no swelling. You really don’t want the battery to explode on you
Nice idea to shot on a local shop, yea! it brings the whole video a sense of live things.. even in close ups you still have those little shadows moving, or the leafs, or a person walking around. Nice!! want more of THIS!!
the first laptop I bought was a 13" HP 360 Envy maybe 4 years ago. start of this year I bought a 15" version. Spec bump aside, it's amazing. I cannot go back to a smaller screen. It's a bit heavy for me but the performance, screen size & touch screen are well worth it. I think I'll be sticking with 15" laptops for the foreseeable future honestly
I typically carry a 15 inch laptop as it’s the best balance between portability and screen size. Most 17 inch laptops that I have seen just have larger screens. And most laptops smaller than 15 inch screens just compromise too much on thermals.
@@serqetry yeah it seems having messed up with the 12 inch, they decided that people don’t want small laptops, instead of people don’t want crap underpowered laptops.
I remember when the very first Intel MacBook Pros, back in 2006, were *only* available in 15" or a massive 17". So when people say this new 15" Air is huge, I get a sense of "oh, honey" lol (although it is def big for an Air)
The Production quality of Mac address video is top notch. LTT's other channels should make this kind of content around public places as well sometimes.
For programmers who code a lot that extra screen real estate plays a huge role in ease of visibility. You don't have to zoom in that much or change the resolution drastically like you do in 13inch mba. I think this should be the go to choice for students who type and code a lot and don't want the secondary monitor.
A laptop may weigh a bit more. Oh the horror!
Found another fellow MA enjoyer!
I keep thinking about this when watching. And then I read your comment. lol

Do you face any difficulty editing photos on a MacBook Air rather than a MacBook Pro?
It's ironic how many go with always bigger phones and always smaller laptops. For me it's the other way around.
How is that ironic?
Exactly :)
My choice of tech is 16" MBP M1 Pro + iPhone 13 mini.
It all depends on the priority. Some people use their phone more and some use their laptop more.
@@Pootleflumpbecause he is the other way around…
I don't keep up with Apple announcements, so when I figured out this was a thing and the reviews were generally positive I went right out and got one. As a developer, I love the larger screen. So far it's the best laptop I've ever owned. My previous laptop was a 15" plastic HP that mouse clicked every time I handled it because it flexed so much. Mine is the base model that I got for ~$1100 as an open box deal. And of course I got it in Starlight, such a great color.
yes, big screen is better. Always.
Fantastic choice, these airs are phenomenally better than the intel based one of years past

I found 16" MacBook Pro a bit too heavy for me, but 14" is perfect for power/weight.

well you still like at least one of the LTT channels so it seems fine but why are some people hating on the other ltt channels

Hope Jonathan doesn’t get the short end of the stick for LMG.
Really enjoyed his Apple videos.
Same except I use an 11in iPad Pro for on the go/daily tasks. I love my 15in MacBook Pro, but it’s just too large to carry everywhere.
I hope they come out with a new macbook 12, since we cant buy the 2017 model any more.
You know all those mini celebrities that leave Fox News or Disney or Buzzfeed or IGN… I can see Mac Address floating away any second now 😂
I noticed that when they started filming the ltt bag repeatedly...
The former seems more likely though since I’m guessing they gutted the heat sink on the Air so the Pros compare more favorably in sustained pro work
13-14 inch is the best laptop size for me as well. At least Apple hasn't killed it here, unlike the iPhone mini (which HAS to come back!)

I have a Mac Mini with only 16GB, and it's torture at times. Even basic multitasking becomes impossible, especially as a web developer where having a large codebase and Photoshop or Illustrator open at the same time is a requirement.

My only issue with the Air is by the time you spec it out to be decent, might as well get the 14"
Indeed, but it’s still very thin and light, and it’s still a bit cheaper (especially in Europe, where the pricing is completely bonkers right now).
I had the same policy as you
14" was the best.
It is not because of the screen size, it is because of the laptop size.
In around 2015, display's bezel started getting thinner.
Making 16" laptop has slightly bigger size than 14"
saturation hits different on this video, and I love it - don’t change it again!
Really wish they would bring back the 12”. That thing was criminally underpowered but would be exactly the right fit for Apple Silicon.

Too bad I love my 16inch m2 macbook pro, I love curling its mass but it's still so light compared to previous windows laptops. The new redesigned body is great because the touch bar is useless

Update: it just arrived and she loves it
I'm angling to upgrade from my 13" MBP from 2014 and will likely get the 14" MBP when I do.
You'll love the screen on the 14 in. pro.-d-
Small Laptop guy as well.
Jonathan please make an EDC episode!
The 16 inch m1 mbp is still far lighter than the gaming laptops I used to carry and gives me a full workstation at any cafe or bench I find myself at
Why would photographers not need an HDR display (eg XDR) if they’re processing RAWs? They need those nits, and probably those darker blacks?
I've still been travelling with my 2013 MacBook Air with 11" display. It has been pretty ideal. If there's going to be 13" M3 Air with OLED display, I think it's going to be my next laptop. I kind of already wanted a new one, but have been waiting for OLED because I know I would regret buying anything without. I really need my blacks. Though, I also don't like the webcam arrangement in the M2 so I hope the next one doesn't cut to the screen.
The video production of Mac Address is so refreshing. I love the other LTT channels but this is another level.
Linus: “look at the raw horsepower! This thing can SCREAM!” This guy: “It fits in a backpack!”
As a student on a budget do i need any upgrades for it and if i do with one cuz i can get only one of the two
Man, if I were you I would be sure to get at a minimum 512gb of storage and 16gb of ram, that things gonna be used for the next 8 years or so hopefully
@@marcusborderlands6177or should I opt for the 13inch Mac?
How I value a laptop's screen size has changed over time. When I was in college, I daily drove a 2013 15" MacBook Pro and I loved that thing. Now that I don't have as much use for a laptop in a working environment, a 13" screen has become preferable
Was looking at this but then remembered it doesn't have a replaceable SSD.
With large pictures and files moving around, that's a deal breaker. Nice laptop tho
Love the weird edit going into the cafe
Thinking about buying a Mac in the coming months. Is it worth to wait until 2024 for a potentially new Mac or get this 2023 M2 one?
XPS are unreliable as hell since for a while, its not a good Macbook alternative even before Apple silicon Macs were a thing tbh
That was a brave choice showing his graduation photo.. He looked like that one kid we all knew in school 😂
But do make sure there’s no swelling. You really don’t want the battery to explode on you
4:14 - Jonathan, did you sneak in a "meow"? 😹
0:16 - CAT, THEREFORE GREAT VIDEO
"Cheap plastic Windows laptops flex when I do this, this doesn't."
Yeah this also costs about three times as much.
I used to be a 15/16 in [windows] guy but the 14 in mbp had been perfect for me
Nice idea to shot on a local shop, yea! it brings the whole video a sense of live things.. even in close ups you still have those little shadows moving, or the leafs, or a person walking around. Nice!! want more of THIS!!
the first laptop I bought was a 13" HP 360 Envy maybe 4 years ago. start of this year I bought a 15" version.
Still love the size of the old 11 inch Air. 1kg weight is perfect and you can comfortably use it on a tray table in cattle class.
It drives me insane that Apple refuses to bring back the 11"... Apple Silicon was made for it.
I got a 17” MacBook Pro in 2011, and never thought it was too big. Made it about 7 years with that thing.
Uhhh that sound edit when it transitions back to the song after the speaker comparison - very nice. Credit to the editor.
For programmers who code a lot that extra screen real estate plays a huge role in ease of visibility. You don't have to zoom in that much or change the resolution drastically like you do in 13inch mba. I think this should be the go to choice for students who type and code a lot and don't want the secondary monitor.
Love MAC address and that you guys always film out in the wild.
0:16 it looks like he’s walking into a laptop screen then comes out of it a few seconds later when he passes the street lamp post.
Guys, should I buy the 15 inch MacBook or wait until the M3 ones will be published?
