      Yeah but the Doctor is always the forgiving one that doesn’t dispense with cool and harsh punishments and certainly not murder. I understand the Doctor has his dark moments and I do love them but I don’t like it when he straight up murders someone or tortures people like he did to the Family of Blood.
      Although I love Dinosaurs On A Spaceship, feel like the ending subverting everything Doctor Who is about. The Doctor is always about outsmarting his enemies and never resorting to the violence that would be such an easy solution and the solution in all action films. The ending felt like a classic conundrum: captured companion, missiles are locked on, and the villain is escaping. This is usually the point where The Doctor comes up with a really good plan that solves all of those problems with no bloodshed, but instead he does solve all the problems but results to murder to do them.

    I don't think any of these are really as bad as they're portrayed in the video as being. I was going to say that maybe I can agree with "The Girl Who Waited," but then I remembered Rory didn't tell Amy which button to press and Amy didn't ask which one she should press and walked into a very clearly empty room after pressing the wrong one. Sure, that doesn't completely excuse the Doctor for lying about him being able to save both Amys but I'm not going to blame him for being put in a situation that could have been easily avoided in the first place.

    • @rinse-esnir4010

    • @adelucas4824
      @adelucas4824 Рік тому +11

      And better for Rory to make the choice than the Doctor. Whoever the Doctor saved Rory would have resented him for not saving the other one or both of them. Rory had to be the one to make the choice as he was the one who would have to live with the consequences.

    • @lindsay3614
      @lindsay3614 Рік тому +11

      @@adelucas4824 And I've also been thinking what would have happened if the Doctor hadn't lied in the moment about being able to take both Amys?
      If he had told the truth about that not being possible, then nothing good would have come of that. Both Amys needed to be cooperating with each other at the time so they could make it back to the TARDIS.
      Still a questionable thing the Doctor did? People can call it that if they want to. But, if he hadn't, then neither Amy was likely making it out of there. And, as you said, better for Rory to make that choice. Maybe this would actually be a "worst thing Eleven has done" if Eleven had decided to make the choice for Rory instead.

      There is also the balance of Justice and Mercy which the Doctor must keep. Basically, he is a de facto godling in this Universe. (Which I think is a mistake, btw. The Doctor should be fallible, should make mistakes and pay for them himself.)
      Since the Time Lord Victorious, (which I think is the Doctor's lowest and darkest moment), it seems to me that the Doctor makes the mistakes and the people around him pay for it.

    Eleven could sometimes be a bit reckless but this falls into the same false narrative that says The Doctor is the most dangerous creature in the universe because he keeps fighting all these different folk and, sometimes, killing them. Daleks, Cybermen, Slitheen, Sontarans, Zygons, The Silence, etc, etc, etc...poor, poor victims who did nothing to deserve their fate. Oh wait, yes they did. Gotta say, it is one of the few things that really annoyed me about that whole narrative, that the Doctor is somehow a bad guy because he prevents all these other bad guys from killing a lot of people, destroying planets, the universe, or time and space itself.

    • @adelucas4824
      @adelucas4824 Рік тому +4

      True. The Doctor has a code against killing because he has killed so many. He's come to a deep understanding of the fragility of life and will try to preserve it at all costs. It doesn't mean he won't allow nature to take it's course or lend a helping hand occasionally though. Most times he lets them die by giving them a choice and if they make the wrong choice then that's on them. It's rare he outright goes out of his way to kill someone and it's only if they are utterly irredeemable (like Soloman) will he make that choice. Even then, Soloman would have been let go if it wasn't a choice between him and the innocents on the ship.

    The Doctor in Doctor Who isn't perfect. Like all of us, The Doctor has a dark side, and sometimes it gets the better or the worst of him and he made mistakes. In "The Girl Who Waited", he shouldn't have lied to Rory about having 2 Amy Ponds in the TARDIS and that the TARDIS couldn't withstand the paradox of there being 2 versions of the same person. In "The Waters of Mars", The Doctor did go too far and realizes he went too far when he saved the Bowie Base One crew which was their destiny and is a fixed point in human history, which an ungrateful Adalaide Brooke berates him for changing her fate and her destiny. The Doctor could be manipulative and cunning. Some of these bad things he did were for the greater good and to help others and his own sense of morality. It makes you question if The Doctor is a hero, an anti-hero, a vigilante or an anti-villain?

    • @corvus1970

      Adelaide wasn't ungrateful so much as appalled and horrified by the Doctor's cavalier and arrogant attitude, and she was right to berate him. He went too far, and he only realized that after Adelaide killed herself to preserve a semblance of the original timeline. "Lived too long" indeed.

    • @Smakka13420

      She would be responsible for inspiring humanity to travel into the stars, and she decided, that the greater good of humanity was worth more than her living longer past her established timeline.

    Few of these aren't the Doctor's fault. Well technically they are, but with good intentions.
    He didn't know about Abigail's conditions, sure a woman frozen in a box, but Kazran's dad started a business with frozen people, forcing their families to pay their debts.
    Punishing Solomon, who murdered all Silurians in cold blood and killed an innocent dino, just because the Doctor said NO to him. A cold blooded mass murderer doesn't deserve to be spared, especially when a missile is heading towards the Arch. The Doctor solved 2 problems here, saved Earth and got the universe rid of a mass murderer.
    I could continue with most points on this list, but I think it's best for me to say, this list isn't the best, you've ever done. Most of those entries are either misconceptions, or reaching hard. Some aren't the Doctor's fault, and some are simply irreversible. Even after finding out the truth about Abigail, he still couldn't do anything about it, or about young Kazran falling in love with her. It's not the worst things the Doctor ever did. Not even remotely.
    I am pretty sure, that the Doctor did far worse things, than ignoring the health condition of a frozen woman, sending a missile after a mass murderer, getting away with a mad space vampire sacrificing herself to her male younglings, disappointing a parent of one of his companions and other stuff from this list. I'm also pretty sure, that he did all stuff in Classic Who, that would make this list going green with envy.

    I’m sorry but your just picking holes in things you personally didn’t like you turning choices that the characters made themselves and putting in the doctor completely wrong and fault
    3:00 he didn’t lead soldiers to their deaths they asked him to come being a expert if anything river was more responsible the doctor didn’t know what he was going into that’s just too harsh on the doctor
    4:33 there are reasons why the tardis didn’t return to the exact moment she left both times we need to remember the silence and the alliance we’re manipulating events which was the bit thing in season 5 and 6
    4:39 that was his own fault he was going to take a innocent woman as his own property he also killed a dinosaur and technically the missles killed him launched from the military
    5:22 Amy chose the waterfall and Rory didn’t say which button to press that’s their own fault
    6:20 no absolutely not that was no way his fault he raised a army to rescue amy and melody no one knew melody was swopped not even her own mother so that’s bull
    7:13 again he tried everything to save them even nearly leveling New York trying ti break through thanks to the angels constant time warping also if Rory hadn’t deserved to randomly look at a grave stone with his name on it he wouldn’t of been zapped again amy wouldn’t of sacrificed herself to be with Rory tho that was sweet nothing was the doctors fault
    8:50 that was his choice he decided that the doctor didn’t want they at all 8:56 that was Amy’s choice (roll credits) she literally volunteered and the doctor said no but Amy insisted not his fault 9:01 that was her choice not the doctors you literally see him running saying no your taking other characters choices which lead to their deaths and putting them on the doctor do more research before making videos because nothing you said was right

    I often disagreed with some of the eleventh doctors actions towards clara oswald in the second part of series 7. In the episode Cold War he allowed clara to put herself in danger with ice warrior knowing that she was trying to prove herself to him. And in the episode The Time of the Doctor he sends clara home by tricking her into the tardis, something which had previously backfired and failed back in the series 1 episode The Parting of the Ways with the ninth doctor and rose tyler. So it was a bit pointless really! 🙈 Still love the eleventh doctor though! Geronimo! ❤️❤️😊

    Did any True Who fans know what I was talking about? Well I guess I'll tell you. It wasn't that Clara's nan wanted to play twister with naked 11. The actress who played Clara's nan, Sheila Reid, was in the Sixth Doctor serial "Vengeance on Varos" (1985) where torture and executions were televised and citizens voted whether the one being tortured lived or died. But along comes good ol' Six and Peri to put and end to it all.

    #2 - keeping the Ponds safe. It's a promise the Doctor always makes and breaks one way or another with each companion that turns out detrimental if not fatal. Rose ended up in a different dimension, Martha nearly lost her family, Donna had her memory wiped, the angels got the Ponds, Clara died, Bill turned into a cyberman and Yaz had her heart broken. So, pretty poor record on the safety thing. Cheers....

    But then, how would they explain how Amy inexplicably aged a few decades?

  • @SmartAlec86
    @SmartAlec86 Рік тому

    9. The Doctor didn't know that she was dying, nor did he make them fall in love. The Doctor didn't know that Kazeran would fall in love with her, nor did he know that she was terminally ill.
    8. Inviting his friends to watch him die was a fixed point in time. That point in time, in order to avoid paradoxes, the documentation of his death was absolutely necessary. However, because that was a fake body, he didn't actually die.
    6.The first time was a mistake. There is an excuse for the second time, but that I'll save for the end because it's an excuse that applies to everything on this Top 10 list (except for 7, which is exclusively unique to the 11th Doctor being forgetful).
    5. The Doctor isn't as forgiving as people give him credit for. And this is not exclusive to the 11th Doctor. The Family of Blood is a perfect example of how unforgiving the Doctor is. Or how about that kid that he dropped off in the present who came back from the future with a hole in his head.
    4. This is complicated because there was no right answer. But technically, by choosing to save Young Amy, Old Amy ceased to exist, so there was no need for her to be saved. This isn't a case of the Doctor being in the wrong, this was simply a case of fate being cruel.
    3. Although I've argued against why previous things shouldn't be on the list, I at least understand why they would be. This is a case where you have to have misinterpreted or misremembered the episode to have any justification for this to be on the list. The fact is that the title of this list, by definition, excludes this as being on the list. The Doctor was not at fault in any way whatsoever.
    2. The problem with making promises, and this applies to anyone, is that you can't predict what will happen in the future. So in reality, the only real promise you can do is to try. And Amy and Rory didn't mean a sad end. It's just sad from the point of view of the Doctor. As the Doctor has said before, the Weeping Angels are the only assassins that will kill you kindly. They send you into the past and make you live to death. Amy and Rory still got to have a happy ending. And keep in mind that River was sent into the past as well. This itself is a paradox if she's incapable of escaping that time. Because she will (or technically already have (and technically will again with the 12th Doctor)) meet the Doctor again.
    1. This is a weird one, because it's either commit genocide, or allow a race to take part in slavery.
    As stated earlier, and what applies to most of this list, The Doctor doesn't think like a human. The actions he takes likely are the result of being able to see all fixed points in time (this has been demonstrated in a 10th Doctor episode). There are many times when the Doctor just knows that there are only a few ways things can go without creating a time paradox. But imagine having that kind of knowledge and not being omniscient. The points in time that are no fixed points are unknown to him. For example, with the episode with the vampires, it is an absolute fact that those aliens don't exist in the future. He may have committed genocide, not because he likes it, because that too may have been a fixed point. The reason those aliens don't exist in the future may be because it has always been the case that the Doctor committed genocide. And if you think of it, if fixed points in time exist, then free will cannot exist. Humans have the luxury of at least experiencing the illusion of free will. But to someone like the Doctor, his nature would allow him to see through that illusion and realize that free will doesn't exist. That would change how you view reality.

    While I don't agree with most of the things on the list since there were genuine reasons for it and they weren't his fault.
    One specific one that ISN'T on the list is: The Creation of the New Dalek Paradigm in Victory of the Daleks. His reckless emotional outbursts against the Daleks who were in World War 2 allowed those remnants to record his voice to gain access to the progenitor device that they needed to literally jump back the Daleks back to near full strength. Granted the Daleks always know how to provoke the Doctor. Even worse is that once the New Daleks were created the Doctor tries to fix his mistake and managed to fight back and had them cornered, however the Daleks threatened to detonate their android bomb back on Earth if he didn't spare them. The Doctor just being too compassionate or being gullible agreed to let them escape but as the Daleks are pure evil monsters, they activate the bomb anyway which made the whole act of compassion pointless anyway. Had the Doctor just committed to killing off this one last Dalek saucer at the time expecting that the Daleks will never keep their word the whole New Dalek Paradigm wouldn't even exist and continue to EXTERMINATE all life. Granted in later episodes there were still surviving Daleks around anyway, but at least this would have given the Doctor and the time of the universe a much long and much needed break instead of another huge skyrocket in Dalek population again.
    Edit: I would like to make a correction of my misunderstanding. The Doctor already knew the whole time that the Daleks would activate the bomb anyway so it's more likely the Daleks would have made the bomb detonate immediately if he didn't spare them instead of the extra time to disarm it in the end of the episode. That being said the Doctor's emotional outbursts cost him his episode.

    I wouldn't necessarily say promising to keep the Ponds safe in and of itself was a bad thing (although he should know from past experience it's not a promise he should EVER make), but I would count trying to drag Amy away from making her own choice to follow Rory back into the past after he's zapped by the Weeping Angel as a pretty bad thing. I always thought the Doctor had a rather unhealthy fixation on Amy, the whole "first face this face ever saw" thing, and his trying to talk her out of being with her soulmate because of that fixation was both bad and creepy. Oh, and I'd also add almost giving Kahler-Jex to the Gunslinger (while holding him at gunpoint) and his even worse obsession with Clara than with Amy, especially when he scared her to death by getting right up in her face an demanding to know who or what she was in Journey To the Centre Of the TARDIS, as pretty bad things too. 11 is my second least favorite, but I do put some of that down to Matt's acting. Sometimes it seems like he was trying too hard to be quirky and weird. One of the episode guide books I have mentioned sometimes he acted like a children's TV show host, and he definitely does.

      @@ladycplum I remember his first interview in a dark ensemble, anyone would’ve assumed he would be a cool or darker Doctor but it was the complete opposite.
      I don’t think Matt is anything remotely like 11 from what I’ve seen but I might be wrong. Maybe he auditioned quirky and wasn’t written like that initially.
      11 definitely has “Blue Peter” or CBBC Tuesday morning programme energy. Cartoonish but not in a funny way like Jim Carrey, just annoying.
      I call him “Mr. Magoo” because that’s the perfect word for it.

    You’re really reaching in condemning the 11th Doctor. Your argument is invalid!☝️😌

    Naah. Rubbish list. Most of them are not his fault. It's just like you try real hard.

    Most of these were accidents and hard to make choices ... strange but ok.
