• Van Halen Eruption Gui...
This was 1986 ,he was 30 .Check this solo at 60 years old ,Eruption Tokyo Dome and see how amazing he really was.
There will never be another Eddie !!! Completely changed everything a guitar could be !!!
Eddie was definitely 1 of 1 man!!! RIP EDDIE!!!!!!
There were a few of us who were fortunate enough to see this virtuoso during their heyday...the scary part is that he made it look so easy, and yet, imo, it's uncopyable...he truly changed everything with his innovative playing.
So skilled, he could run and jump all over the stage while playing all those songs, riffs, hooks and solos while staying completely in the pocket. One of a kind.
RIP to the greatest of all time 😢
Yep!!! Sure is!!!
Her reaction was so genuine. You guys should check out the band.
Yeah, but with Diamond Dave as front man. Not Sammy
@@scottlaughlin9897absolutely. Dave made all the videos cool.
I can't imagine going through life and not listening to Van Halen's music it's like living in spiritual poverty ... now u know .. cheers
He was a complete gift to music. RIP Eddie. Thanks for all of the fun memories. 🎶. 🎶
The King....💣🎸🤘........RIP Eddie❤😢
I was fortunate enough to have seen him do this live multiple times. They were my favorite band, and when Eddie would do his solo section, we all knew we were witnessing greatness. RIP Eddie
Possibly never more evident than when performing eruption solo that Eddie was doing what he loved and loved what he was doing.
One of the great moments of my life was sitting 15 feet away from Eddie watching him do this very extended intro. It was amazing. RIP to the GOAT ! EVH!
Had the privilege of seeing them live 4 times. Got better every time. He was amazing to watch. In my opinion he was the GOAT. He loved what he did and you could tell that when ever he played. He was at home on stage and he gave it his all. RIP Edward Van Halen. You are gone but will never be forgotten. You inspired so many and changed rock and roll forever. Thank you for all the great times and memories that I will carry for the rest of my life. A fan forever.
RIP EVH he forever changed the music world.
Yes Eddie was the GOAT & also his awesome brother Alex plays the drums. Van Halen blew everyone away when they launched in 1978 bc when the world heard Eddie they had never heard a sound like that before. They started out with the original lead singer David Lee Roth & in this video shows the second lead singer Sammy Hagar then later on with a third singer Gary Cherone but it has always been a Dave vs Sammy war for years. I personally like them all but Eddie is still my #1. In 2007 the band reunited with Dave in which i saw them all for the first time & along came Eddie's son Wolfgang playing bass. Definitely gotta check out his band Mammoth WVH, Wolfie wrote his music, does the vocals & plays all the instruments in the studio then goes out with his touring band in which they're touring right now. Unchained is one of my fav VH songs, aint talkin bout love, Jamie's cryin, hear about it later, cabo wabo, when its love, poundcake, humans being. RIP Eddie 1955-2020❤️🤍🖤
Was fortunate to see it live and it was jaw-dropping. I miss him.
Saw Van Halen Live 16 times and Eddie blew my mind every time...The G.O.A.T...
I love how you guys appreciate Eddie Van Halen I remember Eddie Van Halen making it big in the early 80s
Unfortunately I never had the privilege of seeing Eddie or Van Halen live but just by watching this, he was an absolute legend and a master guitar player...so much so that after he passed on, RIP Eddie, a lot of other guitarists paid tribute to him and they were in awe of Eddie, even they confessed that they couldn't match upto him!!!
EDWARD THE GREAT....RIP brother. Nice reaction guys ☘️🚬
Great reaction, guys!!!! RIP TO THE GREATEST ROCK N ROLL GUITARIST EVER!!!! Eddie was 1 of 1!!! Long live, Eddie Van Halen!!!
Eddie was bad ass and so cute. I want to cry!
Lucky enough to have seen him do that live three times.
I seen them when i was 16 yrs old eddie at that time was phenomenal...i remember when that first record came out 78 i was 14....couldnt believe that sound...cheers from an old school metalhead..kansas city
This is my first time sitting in with you today, thank you for allowing me to do that! I enjoyed the time I spent here, I subscribed and left a like for you while I was here, continued success with your channel!
Thank you for the heart, I appreciate it very much!
11:27 - It's even crazier if you consider that this part, which is an instrumental called Spanish Fly, was originally recorded with a classical guitar with nylon strings!
I'll tell you two Van Halen songs you've heard before. "Jump" and "Panama". They've been everywhere!
I first saw Van Halen in 1977 at the Oakland Coliseum. It was an all day rock festival. They we relatively new to the music scene and they were the second band up that day. An Australian band called AC/DC was the opening act Followed by Van Halen, then the Pat Travers Band , Foreigner and Aerosmith. I literally remember thinking that guitar player can really play and then the lead singer at the time David Lee Roth doing a standing backflip on stage, thought that was pretty cool
Saw Van Halen many times after that, Eddie changed the landscape of how guitarist played for generation
For a great fun Van halen track to start off with i would recommend I'm the one. Cheers
I always say that it never gets old seeing new people experience this for the first time.
Eddie was special….and the most innovative guitarist since Jimi Hendrix…hands down!
Need to watch the live version of the song 5150. From the same concert 1986. Live without a net concert. The guitar playing that video is amazing.
The top three guitarist in the world Eddie Van Halen may he rest in peace
The last time Eddie played live was 2015 so any video of Van Halen during that tour chokes me up.
Legend! EVH RIP!!
We lost arguably the greatest guitarist to have ever picked up the guitar in 2020 when Eddie Van Halen died from complications from having throat cancer he believed came from the guitar picks that he used and would put into his mouth when he was playing for long periods of time at home. He was known to spend up to 18 hours playing his guitar. He never took any lessons and was completely self taught. He and his older brother took piano lessons as children and he later played the keyboard in their later albums with Sammy Hagar as the lead singer. He built his first guitar because they did not have enough money for him to buy him a guitar. He had bought his first drum set and while he was out delivering newspapers his brother got better at playing the drums so he decided to take up teaching himself to play the guitar. His first guitar was a thrown out second guitar body from a local guitar manufacturer and he picked up second hand neck and electrical pickups and infernal parts of his guitar anywhere that he was able to find them. That guitar was lovingly named the "FRANKENSTRAT". by his fans. He kept it up until he passed away. His guitar's are known for their intricate paint jobs and crazy stripped graphics. When he came onto the music scene in the late 70's no one had ever seen or had ever heard the things that he was able to do and the sounds that he was able to get from his guitar. They were not a well established band so he had to figure out how to make all of these sounds and manifold what the expensive guitar pedals were able to do for the other guitarist's that could afford to buy the expensive effects pedals that the other other guitarist's had. He was truly a gifted musician and an incredible prodigy. Many people called him a Savant and true genius. Many of my personal favorites are from their early one like the song "MEAN STREETS" and "SPANISH FLY". You should check out their first couple of albums and maybe their last few with Sammy Hagar. It was truly amazing and incredible music!!
The late great Eddie Van Halen!
Eddie Van Halen, there is no substitute. RIP
Great reaction! Eddie was the best. Jimmy was great but sadly gone too soon and Stevie is probably the best blue's guitarist ever but Eddie is the greatest Rock and Roll guitar player ever! His innovations and patents with the guitar will last forever. RIP Eddie ❤
We love you we miss you Edward❤❤❤
I was at this show both nights 😊
Check out his interview on, What it means to be an American, where his guitar was inducted into the Smithsonian museum. He explains everything. Coming to America after WWII, couldn't speak English, all the way to what you are watching. And did the guitar solo for Michael Jacksons, Beat It. Free...
Jam in paradise uncle Eddie!
Here's some more great live solos. Stevie Ray Vaughn's TEXAS FLOOD from his live from el mocambo show, Joe Satriani's SURFING WITH THE ALIEN(LIVE) and then the live version of TENDER SURRENDER by Steve Vai. All are amazing and totally different from each other.
*It's not Van Holen. It's Van Halen. And this isn't "Eruption"; this is a medley of his different instrumental pieces, what he seemed to make up on the spot, and a little bit of the beginning of "Mean Streets" also, at least, with "Eruption" spread throughout it. I can't think of what I might be missing. Y'all should hear the real thing, along with the other instrumental pieces (316, Spanish Fly, Cathedral). Also, check out "Ultra Bass", Michael Anthony's solo, which is a live rendition of "Sunday Afternoon In The Park", which is great for cruising, if you have good speakers.*
You might enjoy the Van Halen scene in the 80s comedy Better Off Dead. Funny movie. "Two dollars."
This is the only band I saw 4 different times before and after this tour. I bet you can guess why.
R.I.P King Edward. Missed so much. Eddie was self taught. Eddie didn’t have to learn the guitar. The guitar had to learn Eddie. ❤️
miss him so much 💔
Wonderful reaction. Looking forward to seeing you again.
Y'all need to check out the drum solo from the same show.
Check out "Summer Nights" by them (live version) and you'll see the whole band doing what they do best.
Never too late to discover Eddie!
Saw them in 82 and Eddie was Crazy!!
Welcome to the Van Halen fan club, eFamily! Major conversations happen all the time regarding "best" or "greatest" guitarist in Rock history. When you get to levels of people like Eddie, you realize it's not about competition, but how his passion and personality drive his immense influential power on this instrument. I will list some other guitarists you would really appreciate and that are arguably as great, but in different ways than EVH. Shredding for the sake of shredding is a not attractive to me, Although there are some extremely talented players that can demonstrate instrumental dexterity, it's not something you really want to go back and listen to. EVH was different in that all his work had a clear melodic and general musical attractiveness. He had an innate capability of creating new and different sounds, while still making music. Some of my other favorites are Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmy Hendrix, B.B. King, Jimmy Page (from Led Zeppelin, as much for his production talents as his guitar playing), David Gilmour (from Pink Floyd, also awesome voice), Mark Knopfler (from Dire Straits), Eric Clapton, Robert Cray....there are just so many!!!!
Just because it's 3 days away, give Van Halen - Summer Nights a listen.
Eddie is definitely one of the greatest of all time!
But, if you love solo's, check out some Stevie Ray Vaughan (SRV)
I think... "Look At Little Sister"... might be a good one to start with. If you do, try to get the full version. Some versions start in the middle of the song and not the beginning.
ENJOY the ride!
I watch every reaction to this vid.....I was there both nights on the floor on the right hand side...20 years old with hair down to my ass....I highly recommend you watch the entire concert "Live without a Net"....hell of a show....from what I can remember....I think?......................Peace!
We will definitely check it out thank you!
And it’s so cool that you got to experience this live! I’m sure it was insane in that crowd! 😮🔥
Brother Alex on the skins.
Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, untouchable.
😊 we miss you buddy😢😢😢
The GOAT 🐐
Rip King Edward 🙏🤘🤘
He was in possesion of the Pick Of Destiny. It is the only logical explanation. 😂😂
I saw this Tour in Colorado Folsom at CU and I t changed my Life. I still play but after Eddie passed it was Hard to play those strings and Dance the Night Away!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Stevie ray Vaughn, Texas flood live. He is what you would call amazing.
Crazy story... His brother (the drummer) got a guitar when they were kids. Eddie decided he wanted drums.
One day, Eddie came home from school, and heard his brother Alex playing his drums. At first he was mad, then realized how good Alex was.
His reaction?.. "I guess I better learn how to play that stupid guitar'...
Go ahead man go ahead dig it
The best thing is that if you check the whole concert ( live without a net 1986) after this 13 minites solo the drummer country to four and "I can't drive 55 " strarts right away❤❤❤❤❤
Sorry...my t9 is strict😅 it was "minutes" and "count".....sorry
You should listen to some songs by Van Halen. They had 2 singers (plus a 3rd, Extremes Gary Cherone for 1 album), & both Dave Lee Roth & the Sammy Hagar periods are amazing. So from Dave Lee Roth try Mean Street or Panama, & from Sammy Hagar try Mine All Mine or Pleasuredome. You may become addicted.
R.I.P Eddie!!
Great reaction. I would suggest starting from the beginning and checking out their first album Van Halen I. Not a bad song on the entire album.
Van halens biggest hit was called ' Jump ' you guys have probably heard it & Edward Van Halen was sooooooooooo on fire that even Michael jacksons camp asked him to play the guitar solo on Michaels hit song ' Beat it ' and he did. 🎸🎸👑👑 You guys should now react to a song from Van Halens 1st album....Ain't talkin bout love is my fave of all time cuz......well many reasons...check it out & find out . Enjoyed ya'lls reaction & i did Subscribe 😁😁✌✌
Thank you! we definitely will check out more of their work.
@@EFamilyMedia 👍👍
thank you
Great video. If you liked that you should react to these Van Halen Youtueb videos: Jump, Panama and Hot for Teacher. They are GREAT videos. Take care.
P Beethoven scales if you can play classical guitar you can play anything classical is the hardest to play but he's got the finger tap on the board down too😅 we miss you Edward All them cigarettes got to you after a while I'm going out the same way Love you buddy we love you buddy❤❤❤
Eddie Van Halen was the GOAT!
I like your reaction to this video. I have a couple suggestions, two Canadian bands, one is The Guess Who and the other is The Tragically Hip. Songs, These Eyes by The Guess Who, and Grace, Too by The Hip.
Listen to some AC DC, shot in the dark 😊
R.I.P Eddy
Eddie = The King
Have you ever heard of Nightwish? Ghost Love Score live in Wacken
When I visited the Rock and roll hall of fame I almost got choked up when I seen this exact guitar in the display case.
We miss you Eddie
It was a copy, Wolfgang has the original.
Rip Eddie van halen
Brother Alex van halen on drums 🥁
🙏Eddie💔
So Beethoven❤
Fire... Right here. Watch painkiller by Judas priest lol
Just a little heads up for the video again on my music scholar if you pay close attention most of these music scales are Beethoven a lot of it's Beethoven Beethoven baby😅😅😅
He played the guitar in Michel Jackson song beat it !
I don't get it. To me every time I hear that solo I just hear Eddie messing around in the studio. It's sounds sloppy and lazy and like he just laid down a few takes and the producer chopped it up and spliced it in the tape. I personally think Steve Lukather's contribution to the song had a bigger impact, he's the one laying down the killer grooves. But the studio guys never get any credit, it's always the flashy guitar player who waltzes in and half asses it who gets the glory.
Just the solo, Steve Lukather from toto played the rest.
Eddie was the G.O.A.T. ... period
Anthony Van Halen playing the drums Eddie Van Halen's real brother in real life
Alex
Try the live version of Summer Nights next
Hi, new subscriber here. I liked your reaction to this. You do have to have extensive knowledge of how to play guitar to know it’s pretty amazing. That being said, if you’d like to see some more cool guitar stuff check out Steve Vai (Vi). Tender surrender, for the love of God and teeth of the hydra are all pretty amazing
I own a couple guitars. I also have a picture of Eddie eating a sandwich. That might seem weird, but I have it to remind myself that there was something Eddie could do that I can do too.
He reinvented the electric guitar. He truly is one of a kind. Simply put The King

The three sing use to air on mtv back in the early ‘80’s. Ed’s playing is amazing! David jumps are wild - these three songs are examples of why everyone loves Van Halen.
**The three songs
Eddie is guitar player on beat it Michael Jackson listen and check him playing live with Michael in Dallas concert
Eddie is considered by most to be the best guitarist. It's like him and Jimi Hendrix.
Live without a net is the name of the full concert and the whole concert is on youtube. ua-cam.com/video/MsehEPyyXVQ/v-deo.html
I'm not a big fan of " Eruption ". Although everyone has a right to their own opinion . Just like many reactors when first listening to ACDC " Thunderstruck ". They think it's the best they've ever heard by them. They're forgetting all the Bon Scott and the " Flick Of The Switch " which I think is a superb album and highly underrated .
Has anyone ever charted or tabbed this solo?
Eddie made his own guitars
This one was made by Kramer
@@jeffmanny8246 my bad I'm sorry
