To me, I've decided these will be meta defining. Not meta breaking but they will push many players away from nonAA ships into AA ships to handle the potential of the FDR/Haku + 2 Louisiana platoons. You will see more Vermonts, CCs and heavy hitters to counteract these. They have strong guns, decent fire chance and if played by a good player, will be the reason you win a match. I see many DD players being shut out in games due to the these because they will be constantly spotted. These could create a problem for a bit but I feel the AA buffs part 2 that is coming next patch, might indirectly nerf them.
The AA buffs definitely sound like preemptive balancing. As a cruiser main, I don't feel too afraid of them. The scenario you describe certainly makes sense - we open up to having more than 1 CV in a match. That said, there are some factors that got me to direct my own prediction towards "this isn't going to be too bad", at least for random games. First, the skill floor. I can see BB players or casuals picking these up, but without at least some CV experience, the wings are going to be shot down straight away, and the DBs have a devil of a time hitting smaller targets. Also, flipping between carrier and normal view requires a good amount of timing, and the lack of armour makes those things good targets for enemy long-rangers. If CV players start picking them up, it'll be more interesting, but that lessens the amount of actually skilled folks playing CV. And they'll be more inclined to hide in the rear, and not use the guns to their potential. A good, coordinated division is always a problem. Triple Smolensk, triple DzP, those are nightmares, but far from the norm. Yes, destroyers will be spotted. If that means Shima players actually have to learn positioning and counterplays, rather that just hiding at the edges & spamming torps, that's a welcome change I'd say 😜 but jokes aside, DD counterplay is possible, and especially if things normalise a bit after the first excitement, I don't see massive changes in my crystal ball. Of course, I might be completely wrong, but we shall see 😂
That isn't to say that those aren't good ships, btw. T9 & 10 definitely are, and I would have liked to see maybe a RR taken away or something, because right now, you can ignore the planes and still do 100k with the guns alone.
USS Louisiana BB 71. The final ship to be in the Montana Class Battleship and would have been the last battleship in the US Navy. The US Navy wasn't going to attach a flight deck, so In game, the ship isn't completely fictional. Out of the five Montanas, we got 3 in game.
I was Angrybear playing as the Vermont in game 2. No doubt Louisiana was more squishy than I expected. I landed at least one citadel per salvo on you in that game for all 3 Salvos.
Nice, thanks for the insight - I haven't played against one yet, but those things have minimal deck armour, and I would expect the hangar to be the same (I think Louisiana is just above 50mm or so), so that's the best place to aim, since it's also in the central hitbox (i.e. citadels). I probably should have disengaged earlier, those ships need to be played at max range. Well done, and GG for the win
8:43 I’m not sure if you’re entirely correct there Terry; angling your ship definitely does increase the ships armor. The problem is that angling your ship only works for side armor and not deck armor. At range, majority of the shells will end up penetrating in the deck armor though so yes angling does become somewhat useless (armor wise at least)
I'm reasonably certain that the angle of armour doesn't matter in Blitz, it's a penetration check between the armour at impact zone (bow, stern, deck, belt) and the remaining pen of the shell. The chonky flight deck & hangar gives these ships a pretty large superstructure hitbox, which is going to have significantly weaker plating than belt, and sits in the citadel area. I've seen this with Kearsarge, you can easily citadel the hangar with 150mm AP.
@@FunandGameswithTerry well if armor angling doesn’t count, I’ll need an explanation as to why my BB shells are bouncing off light cruisers for 0 damage. It doesn’t happen very often but there’s no way that light cruiser armor should bounce large caliber shells (unless angling is a factor) 😅. Given that BB shells have penetration of ~1.1 multiplied by their caliber in millimeters, it seems unlikely that they would ricochet on a light cruiser (even after factoring in shell velocity loss over time and distance) 🤷🏻♂️
5:05 It's worth mentioning that Louisiana can fire 9 or her 10 secondary turrets over the port side. Nevermind, that doesn't happen in blitz. By the way, I think it may be worth reviewing the Sun Yat-Sen
I'm not planning to grind it, but I'd probably start with that as well while everyone is excited and trying them out, and once the novelty has worn off, switch back to a BB build. I see these as long-range ships due to poor armour, so unless there's sufficient air on the enemy team that's actually going after you, you can't really easily "insert" yourself the way you can in an AA cruiser or DD. Either way, Seattle time for T9 and DM for 10 😁
The game need a complete AA rework and a complete CV nerf, i had a game against 1 cv and 2 of this new ships in platoon and it was a disaster bombs, planes, fires everywherere if wargaming doesn't put a fix the game will be ruined, tier 8,9, 10 at least
How about a short on the ship battle honours since it gives steel. I expect Battlecarrier battle honours to be at the easier side of the scale. It maybe one of the main reasons to grind the line.
I played against a Lexington or Sanzing and a Nebraska and it was carnage. Over half of my team was back in port in the first 3 minutes and it wasn't even close. These almost need to be classed as CVs and not allowed to be teamed up with other hybrids or CVs. It is just too overpowering for even ships with Kansas. I have not seen any ship that is able to withstand the onslaught. I know that I won't be playing t8+ because that one game soured me against the lack of fun these ships produce. Definitely a fun-sucking series of ships.
I personally don't expect a massive change, after the novelty has worn off, but even if things change a bit, it's a good shakeup. DDs are afraid the most atm, since they can't just sneak around the map unspotted anymore, but the dive bombers are actually pretty harmless against them. In my opinion, the biggest losers of this whole thing are carriers. They now have to contest with extra fighter wings, buffed AA everywhere, potentially more turteling (because everyone has gotten their panties in a twist), and those things can now spot enemy CVs and shoot them from halfway across the map. Honestly, if I was a CV player, I'd be complaining about this the most.
Well great games. Always I see the GK, I have to think about, that the AP is the most powerful AP in the game compared with the strongest Armor. Only Shima and Incomparable are maybe better AP-wise. And I find that pretty interesting. It's incredible strong, even if you don't play the GK on secondaries, it's brutal, if your AP hits. Pure Citadel monster. I'm interested in the black GK. About the ship in this video, well yeah, no I don't would play it. 😂😂
I might be a little biased by practical considerations... can't help looking at them and think, yes, that's looking good, but how would that ever work?
Those games were from a series of losses / throws, I only have so much time to play-test those ships, and teams were ... uncooperative over the weekend :)
I was going to suggest removing one RR, since right now, the guns alone are pretty good, even if you don't really use the planes, but we'll have to see.
It's a predictable reaction. When I play DD, if there's a CV in game, I have to adapt my approach - can't just rush ahead, get spotted & dropped in the second minute, and then cry about CVs being OP. Have to play it smarter. Track the airwings. Stick with your team first. Find ways around it. Use smokescreens etc. Also, those dive bombers are so inaccurate, they mostly just miss DDs.
Nice video but the stupidity of career player is really very much not acceptable especially in t10 like your friendly cv doesn't give a f about team 🤯🤯
It happens. I'm frequently seeing players in top tiers who have very little regard for their teams. I guess it doesn't take that long to reach T10, if you focus on boosters etc. I think team play is a skill that needs a lot of experience and map awareness

What the difference between these and the tier 9 Kearsarge?
Kearsarge has one airwing, but with a better reload, precise aim instead of rapid reload, and basically Monty's guns at T9 (4x3)
OK then... So much for the current meta, MORE air everywhere so AA up kids!

Best way to balance them are made slower turn rate , slower bomber , limit the range of the plane
