Running away from submarines is sound advice tbh. Not only does it make it harder for their torps to hit, but you can later on force them to engage you in more favorable conditions. That, and someone else might take them out while the sub is busy trying to catch up to you.
Subs can be a horror show to deal with.

i see what you mean, but so long as its clear your opinion about lootboxes, i think a video would be good. i didnt pay for any santa crates, but the ones i got while grinding the holiday thing for scharnhorst were kind: i got anhalt first off which i enjoy playing, then another batch i got hyuga and california, and the next ones i opened i got 90 days premium, and 100000 commander points. someone said taking the mega santa was the highest chance to get ships but i found using tokens to get the smallest one and then opening all 3 or 4 containers at once (not singly) was how i got the ships. so im sticking with that in future.
i try to increase distance from subs but i do get fixated on sinking them. ive been sunk by other enemy ships because i was in a BB and main battery at sub until it was sunk. even when in a sub my primary target is to sink the enemy sub and that means i dont watch out for getting too close to enemy ships, detected and depth charged. but at least i got the sub first!
I got somewhat lucky with my crates (bought the largest bundle once). Got Rochester, Mutsu, Tone, Weimar, Blyzkawica and some tier VI Japanese light cruiser. Fun ships, love Rochester and Weimar, except for the Tone which I havent figured out yet.
Would definitely like to see what you get from your boxes.

9:46 Counterpoint: in BBs I often get the most value out of my heals if I take a lot of fire damage. However, because you can't angle against HE the games where you take a lot of fires you typically end up with not enough potential damage before you burn through your heals, especially on Ohio. I'd say the advantage of the 3-pointer is marginal overall.

Got super unlucky with these boxes this year.
Opened 17 free mega crates, got Siroco from the 14th pity container.
Everything else was mostly captain xp. Disappointing, but at least free.

Every twenty Xmas crates get's me around 2-3 ships. The chances pushes less rare ships your way first before you will get tier X or rare ships. So if you do not have a ton of premium ships then don't expect a Smolensk right out of the gate.

I am curious what drops you get (but considering you have most of ships, the drops could be nice).
With you being a CC you probably have most premium ships already so the crates will probably seem underwhelming

I'd watch the video of box openings. This was the second year that I refused to spend any money on the game including lottery boxes. I opened about 30 free boxes and got six ships, mostly t5 and t6. But I did get the t9 Johan BB which is pretty fun. Merry Christmas and Happy New year.
I quite like the santa box videos, I spent about £400 which was stupid as I had a lot of tier V-VII gaps which are now looking much more full! I only got one tier IX a German DD.

I spent quite a bit as well bought around 80 megas. Got a Tromp and a Iwami but everything else was meh. I regret doing it, as thats not a great return for the money. Pixel stuff just doesnt hit like it used to.

i would love to see you opening some loot crates on the channel, i opened quite a few of them myself and would love to see other people's luck (or bad luck mayhaps)
My opinion is I'm not interested in crates but wouldn't mind seeing it at all. It is nice that you should be asking us, although you do what you enjoy.
im actually quite curious as to what you got cause i got insanely lucky so far, out of the crates from the free battlepass alone i got myself 1500 doubloons, 90 days of premium time and then the karl johan, anchorage, and velos. honestly the only three good ships i have ever gotten out of crates in my 6 on and off years of playing this game
Opening the boxes would be interesting, mostly the statistics. Like how many real Euros/Dollars are in every ship. This would be fair i guess, with a samplesize of 120ish.
Yes PQ, show us the Crates you opened. I have seen sooo many crate openings and of the Hundreds and hundreds of crates, have i only seen the Musashi drop once !!

I really wish they’d reduce the amount of HP in superstructures. Nothing crazy like French DD saturation but experimenting with it would be nice.

Your right subs are very OP the homming torps are just stupid OP ! I make every effort to kill them without getting torps. And i always take fire prevention with all the HE spam
My free crates were strange. Got two T7 Maya & FR 25 from a couple small ones and Ashitaka (T7) & Mysore (T6) from the few Megas i was able to get.
I got T9 Giuseppe Verdi :)
I hit the tx and rare ships bracket.. and got tashkent 39
Got 3 ships out of 30 crates.
My free crates got me Rochester, Leipzig and enough dubloons for Michelangelo shipyard starter package, which i got and now i'm confined to the game until i finish building it.
upd, just got 3 big boxes from the battlepass, got Wichita, 2500 dubs and coal. Good stuff.

As someone who has played a fair bit of subs, "running away" is the only advice I give people, too. Unless you are in a destroyer with hydro, it's basically the only way you can make it hard for a sub to kill you. A decent sub will always kill you in your BB no matter what, but if you run away you make yourself an unappealing target.
I got a fricking tromp from FREE crates. I did not spend a penny on crates and got tromp, W.Virginia '41 (colorado in tier 6 lol) and perth

I say open the crates on video. We’re adults. We can decide things for ourselves. I did ok on the Santa crates. Didn’t pay for any and got a Z-44, Wichita a couple of T6s. Nothing I wanted but it’s all coal/steel so still a plus. Several coal drops which got me to Napoli though.

Have you seen or heard anything about a possible 50 percent of a year of premium for the Christmas/New Year sale? I haven’t seen anything this year for it. Also I probably wouldn’t watch a loot box video.

i feel you with subs, as a German BB main i gotta say though DDs are the most annoying, there is nothing worse then pushing a point, seeing a smoke wall appear 7.5km away and then your hydro picks up the 14 torps that no matter what you do you cant avid taking a few hits, your personal hell is subs, i just f*** hate destroyers
It’s easy to dodge because those torps are not homing, they go straight. While subs have fcking guided underwater missiles, which reload faster than any torps of DDs in the game
battleships are the best sub fighters in the game. ... appreciate you running from the subs as a sub player.

Personally I wouldn't put the crate opening on the channel, it can be looked at in a bad light. I remember a few channels had a lot of hate a few years ago. It just fuels the WG lootbox debate
Couldn't care less what's in those crates. My premium time expires in ~2 months. Maybe they get their act together in 2025? Who knows. I was looking forward to Maine.

no. fire prevention is indespensible.
I don't really see why you'd be happy to save 4 points on Fire Prevention but then spend 7 points on Secondary skills which you go on to save you almost never use. Either go for a tank build or make more effort to get into Sec range, IMO.
You should post a video of opening the boxes, just out of "obligation" to the WG.

I’d say feel free to make a video of it. Just because you get ships doesn’t mean they are the ones that everyone wants. A proper commentary could also assist others in making proper financial decisions.
Don't worry PQ I won't buy anything from them anymore. I have some traumatizing loot boxes experience. Just upload it, I'll be happy about it
There are plenty of channels out there doing the unboxing. Overwhelmingly nobody recommends the crates. Five years ago they were a good buy. WG being the disgusting company they are have completely obliterated that.
When it comes to loot boxes, I would suggest you ought to do what YOU think is "right".
I don't think it's advisable to outsource questions of "right/wrong" to what "people might find interesting or entertaining".
If you don't think it matters either way, fair enough as you won't really be compromising anything.
If you believe, however, that you ought NOT show such things, my advice would be to remain loyal to your principles.
Just putting forward some thoughts in a way I hope you find suitably respectful and constructive.

I personally don't care about containers. The probabilities of receiving certain items are available, at least here in EU, so there's really no information to be gained. I also find the format quite boring.
I personally don't care to watch someone take part in gambling for virtual items. I don't think that should be prompted.
Perfect choice to run away from them. Also, promoting such a frustrating aspect into a game really doesn't make their game design and balance teams look great.

me personally dont need to see box opening. i play this game since 2017 and i never spend money on this game (not even premium time) and in nearly 6 years of playing, i never had a single ship in any box. so fuck WG because i know you only get something when paying money. because in 6 years i shold have get a ship when RNG based.
