Here are some songs for you to listen to, Righteous Brothers, Unchained Melody, it just has Bill Medley, not Bobby Hatfield. They regularly sang at least one song each per show by themselves. Making love out of nothing at all, by Air Supply, I want to know what love is, by Foreigner, must see. And Jeff Healey, Angel Eyes. All of these songs are great. I also forgot Bee Gees Too Much Heaven. Most of these groups have many hits. The Bee Gees are one of music's greatest group as singers and songwriters. They are second only to Paul McCartney as the most hits on the billboard 100 written by a songwriter. They also have many songs on the billboard charts as singers. You'll enjoy all of these songs and many songs by them. All of these artists.
@@Johnrob1943 thank you so much for giving me some wonderful songs to react to I’ll be sure and write these down I’m going to take one of your suggestions from this list, and react to it tonight for throwback Thursday tomorrow, and it’ll be The Bee Gees one because my grandma loved The Bee Gees, and I haven’t listened to them in a long time, and I’m sure I’ve heard it, because she always would listen to them, and frank or rod stewart while we were in the car, but I do not remember the song, so it’ll be nice to hear their voices again, and listen to a group my grandma loved! I’m looking forward to checking some of these I haven’t heard out, and again I appreciate you sharing them! 💙
@@SavyReacts, there are so many groups to choose from, Reo Speedwagon, Air Supply, Commodores with Lionel Ritchie, Kenny Rogers, Marvin Gaye, Kenny Rogers, Toto, and so many more. Look up super groups from the 1960's to 1990's . I even think you'll love TLC, Toni Braxton and the Bangles. These are all women, TLC and the Bangles were all woman bands and Toni Braxton is a solo artist.
There were 34,904 at this concert in Houston. The entire Houston concert was filmed live for commercial purposes. You should check out the entire concert here on UA-cam. ua-cam.com/play/PLWwAypAcFRgKGBIwAbuJ22rv7QJya_uvf.html. I was fortunate enough to see them live 3 times. Once in 1983 (Frontiers) and twice in 1986 (Raised On Radio). IMHO, the best arena rock band ever. Even better live than recorded. Sorry for those that missed out on such great music and great times.
So true we had the best music of any era. 70's and 80's had so many great bands. A lot of them still rockn to this day. Steve Perry still sounds amazing today at 72. I always think it's great to see so many of the younger generation that appreciates the music we had back then. It was awesome growing up with so much great music so many great bands.
YUP...going to concerts back then was a packed house. Lots of various smoke in the air! LOUD! I'm glad I got to experience it. Hopefully things will come back for the younger generations, I think so.
The concert that you missed recently would have not been the epic Journey since the recent band does not have Steve Perry as the singer anymore. I went to all of their concerts in the 70's and 80's with Perry. Unbelievable energy, vocals, and instrumentals.
Lol I know I thought about that after the video when I did it I was like wouldn’t of mattered cause Steve perry wouldn’t of been there I still probably would’ve gone though
Great taste Kid , 80’s was my era the best music ever, you may like Foreigner, especially, Hot Blooded , Double Vision and Dirty White Boy🏴👍🏻 give them a listen
I saw them live in Dallas with Lover Boy opening up. I was in high school. The greatest music ever in the 80's. Journey, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Krokus, Poison, Motley Crue, Metallica, Iron Maiden, even Prince was awesome! We turned on our radios and got this music all day every day! It was a great time to be alive!
Well I just mean I feel like they deserve more streams, and stuff! I feel like some people are so closed minded when it comes to a lot of things, so if it’s anything outside of what they’re used to they don’t give it a proper chance, I mean they’ve had amazing success Im just saying some people won’t listen to older music cause of whatever the reason they think music of today is the best when really the best has already happened, still a lot of great music of today, but they just don’t make it like they used to! Haha I agree with you! I do like Kelly I think she has a good voice but everyone else can go haha
I saw them when Steve Perry was still their singer. That dude is arguably the greatest pop/rock vocalist of all time. Live, he was superb. Saw him on two tours - Escape and the Frontiers tour the following album. They are amazing. There was no one like him before, and no one, since. I wouldn't bother seeing them now - Arnel Pineda is ok, nice guy. But it's nowhere close to Perry. It WAS epic - this was back in 81 and 83. Totally different world back then. Way better music, better live performers. I sound like an old dude on the front porch but you gotta trust me on this one.
it was epic. I grew up in San Francisco, and in my teens in the 80's. I saw Journey so many times at the Cow Palace and the Oakland Coliseum many times. I feel blessed growing up during this music time. We had bands and no auto tune.
I grew up in San Rafael. Saw them 3 times. Absolutely epic! Anybody who grew up in the Bay Area remembers “Bill Graham Presents” it was the best time to be young!!
Steve was & always will be Journey ! I grew up listening to them when they were topping the charts consistently. You couldn’t go to a high school dance after a football game and their songs not be played. It was a great time to be a teenager!
100% agree I forgot he’s no longer with the band when I recorded this, so it wouldn’t of mattered if I would have gone to see them live cause he wouldn’t of been there 😅 that sounds like it was a sweet time to grow up I have a fascination for the 80’s everything seemed like a better time, love the movies, the music, and I know most would disagree with me, but I’ll still say it I loved the style haha but it’s really awesome to hear that they got the recognition they deserved! Because I think out of most bands from the 80’s that I know of they had the most consistent good music it wasn’t just a couple of good songs on an album it was hard to find a favorite, and I love bands and artists like that! Thank you for your comment have a wonderful week!
It was awesome being a teenager and having the music we had back then. All this was new and there was always a song that fit whatever you were going through. Journey packed stadiums wherever they played. Everybody loved Steve Perry
He really does it’s a whole other experience he sounds amazing now I’m gonna have to just listen to his live songs from now on! He truly is a special talent happy that I got to at least be alive, and experience his music at all cause nobody sounds like him!
@@SavyReacts I was alive and a teenager when Journey was at its peak, but never saw them in concert either! I feel like I appreciate them more now than I did back then. They were truly dominant though. Super talented band, and Steve Perry just an amazing vocalist.
@@JenLoAdaM oh man lucky! Haha yeah I didn’t appreciate them on another level till I was probably 19 and started listening to other songs besides don’t stop believing haha and now I can appreciate them on another level because I’ve heard them perform live! That’s the best thing about music it’ll always be there for you to appreciate at any point and time!
I was in the Navy 75-79 and stationed in Lemoore,Ca which is where Steve Perry is from and the other members are from small towns in that area. There was 2 good local rock bands and they both split up, Journey was formed from those bands. FRESNO is about 40 miles from Lemoore and a lot of big bands included it on their tours. Several allowed Journey to be 3rd back up at the concert. Then " Lights of My City By The Bay" came out. That was 1977-78 and you could not go anywhere in Lemoore that someone's speakers was blasting it out, cars ,houses, apartments, bars and the rest is history, but I was there and lived it and it was way better than good. Being young is what you made me think of as you were trying to convey your feeling of Journey and seeing them live. I loved the feelings in you that you were trying to get out,to explain. Enjoy your youth, you are a beautiful young lady and hold on to your passion. It can cause you pain when someone abuses your trust, but it will make the good moments much richer in your life, I have always had the same type of passion as you possess, that is why I recognize yours. Great reaction even if you felt you were having trouble getting the words out, yourfeelings were obviously strong.
I have always said that Journey reached their prime in 1981!!! The Escape album (which this song is from) put them on the musical road map!! With song like Don't Stop Believin; Open Arms and Who's Cryin; Now. I've been a long time Journey fan, since 1978. My brother was at this concert (without ME!!!!) However, I was so blessed to have seen Classic Journey in 1983 when the play for 3 sold out shows, My best friend were able to see them in 2 of those sold out shows. I also got to see them in 1986, which was Steve Perry's last journey with them! And then I saw Steve in 1994 for his first solo tour. I have not and will never seen Journey in concert without Steve, my choice. Because I'm such a Classic Journey fan!! And if you haven't please check out some other great classic Journey songs!!! If you think Perry's voice is amazing, he's blow your mind even more!! Have a bless my Houstonian neighbor!!
Oh yes I love who’s cryin now as well haha I love a lot of their music! Omg he went without you how rude! Haha I would e been mad too! Wow you got to see them live a couple times anyways that’s awesome I bet it was epic!! Yeah I don’t blame you I honestly forgot he wasn’t with the band anymore when I said that cause I don’t even listen to their new music I only listen to their older stuff nothing against Arnel it’s just you can’t replace Steve perry! So I can understand that! Oh I love their music, but I’ll be sure, and check out more of their live songs in the future! Have a blessed one my Houstonian neighbor, and have a merry Christmas or happy holidays!! 💙
@@SavyReacts Yeah, I was very mad at him for not taking me!! grrrrr....lol.... Yes! Seeing Classic Journey in person was truly amazing!!! No matter where you sat Steve Perry always made you feel as if he/they were only performing for you!! I've always loved when he would say...'Turn the house lights on, so I can see my friends!!' They would always wave and point, like they know you!! Love it!! My goodness!!! What a feeling you get!! And then whenever Steve does the 'searching' (putting his hand above his eyes, as if he's looking for you!!!) OH boy!!! I have always said that Steve Perry is like 'The Greatest Showman'!! He puts everything in it!!! Please react to the song Escape from the Houston concert!!! You'll see what I mean about the searching!! Their older stuff is simply amazing!!! Truly classic stuff right there! Merry CHRISTmas kiddo!! And you're never to old to listen to Classic Journey!!
Steve Perry had one of the most amazing voices ever, and he had no voice training. In between concerts when on tour, he didn't speak at all, since he worked his voice so hard. To the car noise - I live on a major through street, so I feel you. Hang in there, soon you will be able to afford that place in the country. ;)
He seriously did I can’t wrap my head around his vocals how can someone sing that way? He was born to sing no doubt about it! He made history in my book! Haha I’m glad I’m not alone it’s rough sometimes I’ve been doing my videos a mix between 10 and that’s why there was more noise cause there’s still some cars going by I should stick to 1, but there’s been more cars going by lately idk why! Haha I don’t think I wanna live in the country but I won’t ever live on a busy street again 😂
@@SavyReacts I hear ya. I still sing and play Bass guitar and surprisingly can hit Steve Perry's notes and carry most songs, But I lack the Velvety smoothness he has; and he has a nasty habit of saving his longest loudest notes until the end when aI am far spent. LOL. I've got the studio but We are all about my age and so afraid of Covid that we haven't got together since last March. God I hope to get this behind us soon. Great chattin!
@@lesliemurphy7808 wow that’s awesome!! How long have you been singing, and playing bass for?? That’s really something to be proud of cause he’s a beyond amazing singer! Ah but I bet you have your own sound which is amazing, you have your own voice that sounds like you! Aww I’m really sorry to hear that! I hope we do too! I miss traveling but I don’t even want to travel or anything right now, cause of everything going on, and I don’t go out and groups and stuff rn either! Great chatting!
@@SavyReacts Since I was a teenager my friends would always compliment me on my voice. ...But women, alcohol, ambitions and money had always taken me in other directions. In 2003, my buddy brought me over to his house and had a full set up to see what I could do. We really clashed on song choices because i didn't prefer the guitarist's 60's & 70's choices. It just seemed boring to me. He tried teaching me the Bass and I just wanted to blast out the vocal pipes! ...We needed a Bass player and I can't rub my tummy and pat my head at the same time LOL. Now we all agree on songs and things were going great until Covid shut us down. Cancer and COPD has slowed me down a bit but I'm healthy and the pipes are better than ever. Thanks for the interest my friend.
Perry has said that he worked with a voice coach... actually the same one who coached Chris Cornell. Steve also says that he tried to model his voice after classic singer Sam Cooke - an iconic musical legend.
I don’t know about underrated. He’s always mentioned in conversations of greatest male vocalists ever. Definitely the greatest live vocalist. This Houston show is probably the best live footage you will find of Journey. Listen to Mother, Father from the same show.
I just meant that I don’t hear many people talking about him now, especially people from my time I’m 28 and nobody around my age that I know talks about them and if they do it’s because of don’t stop believing. I wasn’t speaking for generally everybody, but even still I think they deserve more love to me they deserve even now billions of streams like some of the artists of today have, and to still be coming up in casual conversation even older people I’ve met or know they don’t talk about journey so I’m just speaking about my experience with people, and their music tastes. He is definitely the greatest live vocalist no doubt! I’m going to check it out soon!!
As a teenager in High school in the early 80s this was THE SONG at every school dance! The ultimate slow dance/make out song. THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES JOURNEY!
If they are underrated it's only by people of your generation. Journey is one of the greatest Rock Bands that ever performed, wrote and recorded. If your not from the 70's 80's 90's then you haven't a clue. Journey started in 1973 and Steve Perry joined them in 1978....Underrated ? Not a chance !!!
I should’ve used a different word they’re just so unique, and one of a kind I still feel they deserve more love from people of today, but this is really the first time I’ve talked to people about it on this video most people Ive encountered don’t typically bring them up first when we’re talking about great music unless I do, and most people from my generation only know don’t stop believing 😂 I was also thinking about their streams too because I felt like they deserved more, but I wasn’t thinking that most people that listen to them are probably listening on vinyl or cds not streaming their music wrong word but it’s too late now the videos out there haha and I’m not deleting it! 😂
Beautiful Angel Savy, you should also watch from them live these songs: "Don't stop believing", "Mother father", "Faithfully", "Who's crying now" , & "Why can't this night..Go on forever", and also these official videoclip : "Separate ways", "Oh Sherry " & "When you love a woman" , trust me you will love them all and go crazy. Ronny
I saw them early at the Academy of music in NYC a very small theater witch later became the Paladium night club that's how small it was. And hot we must have sweat 10 pounds off that night! They were so good with the original line up! I believe Evolution had just been out a while. That's when I became a big Journey fan! We could not believe how loud they were. And how good Perry's voice was! Late 70s! Those were the days!
They actually did two back-to-back dates in Houston on that tour. I actually have the DVD of this whole concert. It’s amazing. Every minute of it. Highly recommend!
I need to check out more from the Houston tour I’m from Houston so since I never got to experience the concert it would be the next best thing haha thank you for your suggestion! 💙
@@SavyReacts No problem! I know you might prefer to react to the hits in order to keep your viewership high, but I have to say some of a Steve Perry’s best vocals are on the lesser known tracks. Also, if you do see Journey in concert, just know that they have a different lead singer, so it’s not quite the same.
It is so awesome to see the younger generations listening to music like this. Got to see Journey in 81 & 83 in Wichita, KS. Steve Perry's vocals live were unbelievable on both tours. Great reaction!!
Oh I listen to so many different genres and decades I love music and there’s so much amazing music out there I want to check as much of it as I can out including going back in time cause that’s where the amazing music started from! I’m so jealous that would’ve been my favorite concert ever if I got to experience that! Thank you so much! 💙
@@SavyReacts Absolutely. My mom & I would sit & listen to big band music from the 1940s & Opera, old country with my dad. Blues & old school R&B with my oldest brother & broadway, Barry Manillo, & all kinds of other music with my other brother. I was fortunate to be exposed to a huge plethora of music. Including classical. I love music period.
Honestly I’m jealous haha I love the music though cause it gives me that little feel of what it was like growing up or living through then! Plus 80’s movies even though it won’t compare to actually being there haha i enjoy anything 80’s!
I enjoyed this song on the Escape album and in the movie Heavy Metal back in 1981.....BUT seeing them do this live in the summer of 1982, during this tour, was amazing!. I'd imagine there were 20,000 to 25,000 people there in the arena, about the same as when I saw them. That many people singing along with the songs is a trip. They are one of a few bands that sound just as good, or better, live. I've had the opportunity to see some of the greatest vocalists live back in thier day. Journey in '82 & '83, Heart in "77, Styx in '78 & '83 and Queen in '80 & '82.
This was a 1981 concert here in Houston. This is the year I graduated high school 😳. The 80's were the awesome when it came to music...no doubt about that!
I realized that after I posted this and read some of the comments which makes it even cooler for me cause I’m from Houston! I’m so jealous lol the 80’s seemed like a totally different world, love the music, love the clothes, and the movies!
Lol yeah I wasn’t I honestly forget sometimes just cause I don’t listen to their newer stuff and Steve Perry will always be journey to me! He truly is his voice is remarkable!
Young lady, Steve Perry vocals and singing has Never been Underrated! He is recognized as one of the greatest Rock Singers in the History of Rock and Roll. Do some more research and you will see this. Thank you for embracing the music of my Generation. I'm so glad you like what I grew up listening to. May I recommend Journey songs, Send her my Love, Faithfully, When you love a woman, The eyes of a woman, Happy to Give, or most songs on the "Raised on Radio" album.
You’re right lmao I think my biggest regret on UA-cam so far is saying that journey was underrated! 😂 honestly I embrace so much different music I think everyone should you know? There’s a huge world out there full of amazing music, and I want to try to listen to as much of it as I can, and that includes going back in time because without that, music wouldn’t of even been what it is today period! Ahh I love faithfully such a beautiful masterpiece I mean they were a phenomenal band, and I do need to check out more journey songs so I will do that this coming week thank you for your recommendations, and your comment! 💙
@@SavyReacts You are very welcome! I have been a Journey Fanatic since the 9th grade in 1981. Steve Perry's voice just takes me and many other people to another place and time. You should listen to Journey's older songs, before they became as huge as they did in 1982. The Live in Houston Concert is available on DVD at Amazon, Ebay it will truly take you back to 1982! tight jeans and all! lol..
If you saw Journey now. You won’t see Steve Perry. The lead singer is Arnel Pineda now. Journey was my first concert in 1980-81. Great reaction! You should check out Pink Floyd “Comfortably Numb” Pulse concert. Think you would like it.
One of the greatest, To get the chance to witness a beautiful young lady ( you ) love the music an ( older dude me ) who spent his summers on the Pacific ocean listening to this music. Has been a blessing to us all. You keep jammin little lady ❤️ 🌎❤️
So funny that a girl from the new generation is saying “ they don’t make music like they used to” I for sure thought us 70’s 80’s kids would just sound like our parents when our music got old. Yet the new generation loves our music.
According to the MTV introduction of this concert there were 20,000 fans at the Summit that night in 1981. Also, FYI a Gallup poll voted Journey the #1 band in America in 1982. Since you’re a fan of Journey, I wonder if you’re familiar with the documentary about their 1983 tour called “Frontiers and Beyond.” It provides some history of the band, focuses on the road crew and how much work is involved in putting on a show, plus offers interviews with the band and concert footage. It’s quite interesting and informative. ua-cam.com/video/M3r5iV-c8o8/v-deo.html
Wow that’s impressive! I had no idea I mean I just enjoy music I don’t typically keep up with anything outside of the music. I haven’t seen the documentary I’ll be sure, and check it out thank you for sending the link! 💙
welcome to the VOICE!!!!! What made Journey back in the day was they sound great live. Same concert, Don't Stop Believing and Mother Father. Just a heads up, Steve Perry is gone. They have a new singer. ENJOY!!!!!
Seriously though has one of the best voices of ALL time! I wanna check out mother father I don’t think I’ve heard that one! I remembered that after the video cause when they came in town it was with their new singer Arnel Pineda he has a good voice too! Thank you!!
@@SavyReacts Welcome, not a Arnel fan. I'm spoiled, saw Journey with Steve Perry. No comparison. There is a cover band called Voyage. The lead singer looks like Steve and sounds a lot like him. You can check them out on You Tube.
Hi Savy, great reaction, being 36 I wasn't around back then either but I sure wish I was. I DJ some weekends and I talk to soooo many people your age (early 20's?) who tell me how much they wish there was music today like this. I know music changes over time and I like today's music too but from a talent standpoint there's no comparison with 80's (and 70's and 60's too) with the talent level back then. There have been lots of great rock singers (Freddie Mercury and Robert Plant come to mind) but in my opinion, Steve Perry stands alone at the top. From this same tour (Escape tour '81) go check out "Mother, Father" which is Journey's most powerful song and really showcases Perry's incredible voice, and the rest of the band too. Ok have a great day, keep smiling and stay positive, I think your "look" would have been good in the 80's, talk to you soon!
It’ll probably be a couple weeks cause I don’t want to do too much of one band at a time for throwback Thursday but I promise that will be the next journey song I react to cause I don’t think I’ve heard it!!
Thank you so much Leslie! Oh wow that’s awesome you can’t beat that I’m sure they were amazing each time! I will but I post what majority of what my subscribers want to see, and I do like blackpink, but I am going to be mixing it up a little, but I’m also doing what people request to see so if you have any requests then let me know, and that will also help you get to see what you would like on my channel! Thank you so much again Leslie! Have a great 2021!!
@@SavyReacts Am I right in assuming that you get a lot of your music influence from your mother? If right or I am wrong, whomever you get your loving ear from has super great taste. The age of the professional musicians are almost all gone. It's all synthetic now and Voices are so manipulated. Bands used to me so tight and full of energy and sound. If you have the time or inclination, a few other bands are Chicago, Triumph, Styx, Loverboy, Shooting Star, BTO, Eagles, Earth Wind and Fire and so so many more when music was so REAL and singers were raw and talented through hard lessons and years of road wear and soul. I just think there’s so much beautiful music to be heard I want to listen to as much of it as I can, and that includes going backwards to seeing where music started, how it came to be, and the bands that made music possible for people today! Another FANTASTIC choice! Friday take a backseat to Throwback Thursday! That performance was AMAZING. Funny you mentioned Fleetwood Mac cause I was going to say a reaction to them would be GREAT! People think it's strange that I'm going between Fleetwood Mac and BlackPink in the car, some how it works lol.
Haha I love that!! It truly was my FAVORITE Live performance I’ve seen in a long time as far as male vocals! Steve was really not underrated. There are handful of singers that most people know. Steve Perry, freddie mercury, robert plant elton john, sting maybe a few more. Steve or Freddie might two most known for being great singers.
You have a fantastic sense for music and what makes it great, look forward to your continued adventures....I was very lucky that I had an amazing friend get me into way better music....The Smiths, Joy Division, The Cure and Roxy Music to name a few favs and some you might want to check out, if you get the chance, for your throwbacks they’re all pretty legit 😉
Thank you so much Juan! I’ll be sure, and check them out as we roll into next year, I got something a little different planned for this Thursday haha and then we’ll go back to throwback Thursday the 7th! Thank you for watching, and the suggestions! I hope you have a happy new year, and sorry for the late response! 💙
No worries, I remember being a stubborn teenager as well,my uncle tried to get me into The Rolling Stones,David Bowie and the Clash but I wouldn’t listen and absolutely love them now that I took the time...really look forward to your musical journey and I envy you for some of the absolutely magical music you’re on the verge of discovering and hearing for the first time, wishing you an amazing new year, all the best and continued success 🎶👍
The only 'dig' I ever had with this song is the way it played on the original movie "Heavy Metal." It didn't seem a good fit at the time. FYI, I still have that soundtrack album...yep, album...vinyl. You don't hear bands like this performing in the states, but go to Europe and check out the symphonic metal band like Within Temptation, Delain, Nightwish and others and you will see, (and love) the full sale productions of their concerts. I'd start here: ua-cam.com/video/hJXdk4mKM9M/v-deo.html
Yeah, they have been one of my favorite bands for a very long time. The band is still around (last I heard) and they have a new vocalist, Arnel Pineda, who sounds JUST LIKE Steve Perry when he tries. This could have changed by now I guess, because I have not heard anything from them in a while. Still, great music all the way around. Luv ya!
That’s right cause Arnel was with the band when they came to Houston a few years ago I remember that now! I forgot I don’t even think I’ve listened to their album from 2011 just their older stuff back when Steve perry did the vocals! I’m gonna have to give their new stuff a listen! It truly it amazing music as always! Thank you for watching James! 💙
Arnel doesn’t sound “just like Steve Perry”. He sometimes sounded like Steve Perry when he first started with band in 2007 -2009 but not at all anymore.
@@lucidam7722 "sounds JUST LIKE Steve Perry when he tries." Why do people never read anything in its entirety? I purposely put the end of that sentence in there so nobody would come back at me like you just did. Jesus. Get some patience.
@@jamescurfman3284 I did read your comment, dude. Arnel always tries to sound like Steve Perry but he lacks Perry’s range, modulation, and enunciation. Journey also lowered the key to the songs for Arnel in 2012. Deen Castronovo sounds way more like Perry than Arnel. Go check out Neal Schon’s 2019 Journey Through Time videos on UA-cam.
They’re still underrated in my opinion if you look at some of my other responses to other people maybe then you’ll see what I meant. Yeah they are a huge band but I am talking about my personal experience with people I know they’re not talked about much, and nobody hardly from younger generations talks about them I’m 28 and I don’t know anyone that talks about journey, except for don’t stop believing and that’s if they even know who sings it. I’m saying they deserve as much love as they used to get, and honestly I’m really saying they deserve billions of streams like artists get today. Truth be told not a lot of younger kids even in the early 20’s aren’t going to listen to bands like journey because they’re old, and if people would just keep an open mind and listen to it, to give it a chance they just might like it. That’s all the point I was trying to make. Lol
Oh yeah you also said his vocals were considered underrated his nickname is "the voice" and is probably considered maybe 2nd to Freddie Mercury as far as rock voices
Yes- they just don't make music like this any more. And I know every generation probably says that about the ones that come after them but I truly believe that's the case now.
@@SavyReacts You're welcome. Just being real. Now that I have your attention let's do some of the pretty love songs of the past. How about BeeGee's doing "Too Much Heaven" and "How Deep Is Your Love", Lionel Ritchie doing "Hello", "Sail On" and "Truly", and Bonnie Raitt doing "I Can't Make You Love Me".
Unfortunately even if you had the chance to go see them a few years ago live, the lead singer in the video (Steve Perry) hasn’t been in the band since mid 90’s 😞. He has no plans to return to the band ever again either. But great video you made! ☺️
I thought about that after the video haha I was like I probably still would’ve gone if I could’ve, but I know it wouldn’t of been the same! Thank you so much Brendon I appreciate it! 💙 they make it easy to react to!
please react to no more crying from steve perrys latest album traces. if you see that he left music and was inspired to return by his girlfriend who passed away due from cancer. check it out look forward to seeing more. keep up the good work
I’m going to have to check it out soon thank you for the request! Aww that is really sad, but really sweet at the same time I’m glad he returned doing what he loved! Thank you for the support! 💙
You stopped it so often you messed up the sync. but good reaction. Their 1981 Escape tour was awesome, especially the Houston stop, you should check out more from that concert. I saw them in 1981 during their Escape tour here in California and it was just beyond amazing but their Houston show was the best ever show, legendary actually.
It was hard to find the rhythm for reaction videos because sometimes my video would get strikes, and it would block the video so nobody could see it whenever I didn’t pause often. I know it’s annoying but I’m not that big of a UA-camr and I feel like whenever people have more subscribers, UA-cam lets them get away with the no pausing or hardly at all because they’re making the platform money! You’re lucky you got that experience, I’m from Houston I’ve seen some of the videos from their concert in 81 and I know watching it on UA-cam doesn’t even compare to being there so I can only imagine!!
I don’t think I’ve ever listened to the Styxx I have listened to Boston and foreigner but I’ll be sure to put them on my channel! Thanks for the recommendations! Happy new year!
Reaction starts at: 1:14 guys! 💙
Check also another AOR bands (Styx, Reo Seepdwagon, Night Ranger,...) although Journey is one of the finest!
Steve Perry was called The Voice! He is awesome!
Yes! One of my favorite bands of all time and Steve Perry is one of my favorite vocalists of all time in my book.
They were an iconic group for sure!! He definitely has some amazing vocals I agree!
Hands down one of the best singers!!!! No auto tune. Just him singing his heart out! 👍🏼
One of the greatest bands of all time in any genre of music. The Live version he sings of Mother Father is UNREAL during this same concert
I’ll be sure and check that out soon! But
I couldn’t agree more that sound is just unmatched, and his vocals are otherworldly!
Steve Perry made Journey and in my opinion have now become a Steve Perry/cover band for their old journey music. Steve Perry is known as "The Voice"
His vocals are never underrated. Never were. He should be the host of "The Voice." Screw the other ones. Lol
For someone that's underrated..he's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Same with me! SF = my birthplace!
San Francisco born as well... they made you feel proud to say they were from there too. Lights and Don't Stop Believing are like SF Anthems
I grew up in San Rafael. Saw them 3 times. Absolutely epic! Anybody who grew up in the Bay Area remembers “Bill Graham Presents” it was the best time to be young!!
Day on the Green?
@@vanessalore9942 Yep
With a live performance the energy the audience gives back to the performers boosts their performance like nothing in the studio can.
This was the Escape tour. I went to the show in 81 in Oakland. I was a junior in highschool. Was lucky wnough to see Journey live 3 times.
Dang that’s awesome I’m so jealous!
this entire Houston concert was FIRE
I was in grade school in the Bay Area when Escape album was released, 1981! 🤟
It was awesome being a teenager and having the music we had back then. All this was new and there was always a song that fit whatever you were going through. Journey packed stadiums wherever they played. Everybody loved Steve Perry
When a singer didn't need computers to create his sound...no autotune, no fakery, just talent, that's all.
You are spot on as to the fact that Steve Perry sounds 10x better live than on studio albums. Pretty freaking remarkable! What a talent.
First time I ever heard this song was when I watched the animated movie “Heavy Metal”, wwwaaayyy back when.
@@SavyReacts .... Okay sorry. It's not the Escape song that Steve does the 'search'. Give me some time and I'll find it for you!...lol...
@@SavyReacts Very true. Glad young people are taking an interest !
As a teenager in High school in the early 80s this was THE SONG at every school dance! The ultimate slow dance/make out song. THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES JOURNEY!
I was at that concert back in 1981 and those guys , especially Steve Perry were dead on. I'm sorry you missed that experience. Keep up the great job.
Journey - *Lovin', touchin', squeezin'* please! 😃
Ya wanna see a large crowd that Journey played for ? Check out original video live of " Send her my love " over 100,000 people in a stadium 🏟♥
Oh wow that’s so many people I’ll have to check it out now that you said that thank you for telling me! 💙
Ur welcome. It was 1983 in Philadelphia pa . I was there
I saw them early at the Academy of music in NYC a very small theater witch later became the Paladium night club that's how small it was.
Great video babe! 😘❤️ i’d say don’t stop believin is my favorite of all time of journeys 😜❤️
Thank you lover! 😘❤️ Oh man I gotta show you more of their stuff! 😜❤️
H-Town Energy Corridor here! The 1981 Houston concert is worth watching in full. All Journey does is get better and better!
80s were my favorite time of life too me after early 90s music died
It is so awesome to see the younger generations listening to music like this. Got to see Journey in 81 & 83 in Wichita, KS. Steve Perry's vocals live were unbelievable on both tours. Great reaction!!
Oh I listen to so many different genres and decades I love music and there’s so much amazing music out there I want to check as much of it as I can out including going back in time cause that’s where the amazing music started from!
So glad I grew up in the 80s.... an era of music filled with talent... so nice to see young people appreciate this music

The concert in Houston 1981 " Escape " tour.
I don't think you were alive when Journey has in Houston when Steve Perry was the singer. Steve is one of the best singers ever.
Lol yeah I wasn’t I honestly forget sometimes just cause I don’t listen to their newer stuff and Steve Perry will always be journey to me! He truly is his voice is remarkable!

One of the greatest,
To get the chance to witness a beautiful young lady ( you ) love the music an ( older dude me ) who spent his summers on the Pacific ocean listening to this music. Has been a blessing to us all. You keep jammin little lady ❤️ 🌎❤️
Steve Perry has had a great solo career. Still going.
A couple of songs that aren't known as well that you would probably love are It's just the Rain and What Was.
So funny that a girl from the new generation is saying “ they don’t make music like they used to”
I for sure thought us 70’s 80’s kids would just sound like our parents when our music got old. Yet the new generation loves our music.
Journey had a ton of hit songs.
Steve Perry is a vocal God.
Fun fact: this song was in the movie Heavy Metal....
And in movie Last American Virgin!
Imo. Heavy Metal was a better fit + better B movie.
was it!?!?holy chit i have to watch that movie again been a loooong time.
Steve Perry, Sebastian Bach, Freddie Mercury were on another level for lead singers of that era!
I agree I haven’t listened to Sebastian Bach, Freddie Mercury though woo yes his voice was unstoppable! Steve perry too!
In Houston, there were 46,000 people at the first concert
That’s impressive I need to check out more live performances from the Houston show!
It’s quite interesting and informative. ua-cam.com/video/M3r5iV-c8o8/v-deo.html

when Journey was inducted into the Rock N Roll hall of fame Steve Perry gave a shout out to Arnel Pineda and told how much of a hard worker he was
Hi Savy, great reaction, being 36 I wasn't around back then either but I sure wish I was.
If you do another journey song, you should consider mother father live; absolutely astounding.
It’ll probably be a couple weeks cause I don’t want to do too much of one band at a time for throwback Thursday but I promise that will be the next journey song I react to cause I don’t think I’ve heard it!!
@@SavyReacts react to November Rain by Guns and Roses. They are also a old band and sooo many young people.liaten to them
@@grahamvarey1144 Just as long as you don’t ever ask for sweet child o’ mine hate that song lol
@@SavyReacts lol no November Rain has 1.4 billion views....why do you hate that song
Us old people grew up with some great music.
Great reaction.... journey is amazing live
Nice reaction and easy on the eyes! Good Job
Thank you so much!!
Steve Perry is one of the idols of Céline Dion and if you are an idol of Céline Dion you MUST be an exceptional singer ❤❤😁👍
I dig you and your style. I love more your appreciation of old bands like Journey. I'm 57, so I got to see them 4 times in the 80's.
After seeing your library, please expand just a little. It's like all Blackpink... Just sayin. Have a great 2021!
You are so cute and a rare pleasure to watch with an open ear and mind. Keep up the Jams Girl! I'm enjoying! stay safe and happy!
@@lesliemurphy7808 growing up my grandma would actually listen to a lot of frank sinatra, bee gees, Andrea bocelli, my dad listened to a lot of country, but I’ve always been fascinated with the 80’s movies, music, and I just kind of found my own taste in music it’s all over the place! I just think there’s so much beautiful music to be heard I want to listen to as much of it as I can, and that includes going backwards to seeing where music started, how it came to be, and the bands that made music possible for people today! Plus like you said it’s just a different sound than it is today, and I have a love for that kind of music!
I’ve listened to a few of the ones you’ve mentioned, but I’ll be sure, and react to some of them soon, and definitely for throwback Thursday! Thank you so much that really means a lot, I’m happy to read your comments, and talk about music with you! I sure will! I’m happy you’re enjoying them, and stay safe, well, and happy!

I really like journey also and open arms is my favorite song
Another FANTASTIC choice! Friday take a backseat to Throwback Thursday! That performance was AMAZING. Funny you mentioned Fleetwood Mac cause I was going to say a reaction to them would be GREAT! People think it's strange that I'm going between Fleetwood Mac and BlackPink in the car, some how it works lol.
Haha I love that!! It truly was my FAVORITE Live performance I’ve seen in a long time as far as male vocals! I’ve been thinking about reacting to them, I’m just trying to figure out what song I want to react to I enjoy their music a lot!! Haha I love it! I don’t think you can ever have enough variety in music, and it always makes car rides more epic! Haha
You have *GOT* to react to Journey - *Lovin', touchin', squeezin'* please! 😎
Listen to Sweet and Simple. It's a beautiful song and he hits a crazy high note.
Sorry you missed concerts back then !
Was Awsome
Underrated? He’s well known as one of the best vocalist ever.
You should react to Morissette Amon....She's a Filipina singer who is just out of this world !!! She is known as " Asia's Phoenix " and she just released a new music video titled "Phoenix "...every performance by this amazing vocalist is hands down the best I've ever heard....I'm a fan of hers for about 4 years....she's 24 years old and became recognized in the Philippines about 10 years ago ....just give her a listen....you WILL NOT REGRET IT !!! New subscriber here....I also love Journey and Steve Perry's voice.....so if u love Steve....ur gonna love Morissette Amon.....😁🥰
I’ll be sure and check her out this week on my channel sometime!! Thank you for telling me about her I look forward to reacting to her this week! Thank you so much for the subscribe! 💙 oh yes I do his voice is amazing, oh man you’re really hyping her up I love it I’m excited to check her out!
Awesome reaction, Thank you,
Thank you so much! Sorry I’m just now seeing this I hope you had a great holiday, and happy new year well in a couple days! 💙
Journey was one of the few bands that actually sounded as good live, or better than, their studio recordings.
That’s very true to me they sound even better than the recordings, and for so many that’s hard to pull off!
You could wear a throw rug and look amazing 😂❤🎉
@@Watchman70 lmao that’s so sweet thank you so much!! 😂🙂
@@SavyReacts You're welcome gorgeous. Love the reaction btw. Steve was on another level.
Check out when you love a woman video, Mother Father live from Houston 81', Who's crying now live from Houston 💋💞💕💘😍😻💞💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💞💞💞💞
This was from the Sumit what is now a church.
Haha if there’s one thing I think I have pretty good taste in music, even though I listen to pretty much everything I have my favs, and old journey with Steve perry is one of my favs!
Hey that’s awesome!! I feel like once I got over being a stubborn teenager I really started opening my mind, and that’s when I really started getting a feel for better music!
I’ll be sure, and check them out as we roll into next year, I got something a little different planned for this Thursday haha and then we’ll go back to throwback Thursday the 7th! Thank you for watching, and the suggestions! I hope you have a happy new year, and sorry for the late response! 💙
No worries, I remember being a stubborn teenager as well,my uncle tried to get me into The Rolling Stones,David Bowie and the Clash but I wouldn’t listen and absolutely love them now that I took the time...really look forward to your musical journey and I envy you for some of the absolutely magical music you’re on the verge of discovering and hearing for the first time, wishing you an amazing new year, all the best and continued success 🎶👍
do "mother, father" - journey live in houston 1981
The only 'dig' I ever had with this song is the way it played on the original movie "Heavy Metal." It didn't seem a good fit at the time. FYI, I still have that soundtrack album...yep, album...vinyl.
You don't hear bands like this performing in the states, but go to Europe and check out the symphonic metal band like Within Temptation, Delain, Nightwish and others and you will see, (and love) the full sale productions of their concerts. I'd start here: ua-cam.com/video/hJXdk4mKM9M/v-deo.html
I may be late to this, but if you like Journey and grieve this level of band is missing, check out Alterbridge, probably want to start with blackbird.
I hate to just do this to you I seen Journey twice in concert one’s in the 80s and one’s early 90s with Steve Perry as the singer it was great
Ahh I’m so jealous, but I’m really happy for you those would’ve been wonderful concerts to see live!!
@@SavyReacts Oh, yeah! You are very welcome! :)
5:30 when I was a kid I thought he was MacGyver
Now you know why the 80s rule.

Aww thank you so much I appreciate the kind words, and subscribe! 💙
Lol underrated...they are a absolutely huge band
Lol
@@SavyReacts it's your opinion, I guess you'd probably tell me that someone like BTS has been more successful than them
@@SavyReacts I watch a lot of reaction channels and yours is great but I don't think you realize just how many young people watch their vids
Oh yeah you also said his vocals were considered underrated his nickname is "the voice" and is probably considered maybe 2nd to Freddie Mercury as far as rock voices
@@grahamvarey1144 okay well music is constantly changing, and evolving so it’s all matter of opinion anyways lol
Yes- they just don't make music like this any more. And I know every generation probably says that about the ones that come after them but I truly believe that's the case now.
Why do you have only 821 subs? You should have 821K subs.
Aw thank you so much that’s so sweet! 💙
Steve Perry foolish heart
Unfortunately even if you had the chance to go see them a few years ago live, the lead singer in the video (Steve Perry) hasn’t been in the band since mid 90’s 😞. He has no plans to return to the band ever again either. But great video you made! ☺️
I thought about that after the video haha I was like I probably still would’ve gone if I could’ve, but I know it wouldn’t of been the same! Thank you so much Brendon I appreciate it! 💙 they make it easy to react to!
@@SavyReacts you’re absolutely welcome darlin! ❤️ you’re super adorable and beautiful too btw!! ☺️
please react to no more crying from steve perrys latest album traces. if you see that he left music and was inspired to return by his girlfriend who passed away due from cancer. check it out look forward to seeing more. keep up the good work
I’m going to have to check it out soon thank you for the request!
You are right on !
All them ..no help with high tech crap !
Try Styxx, Boston, and Foreigner for amazing vocals and bands.
I don’t think I’ve ever listened to the Styxx I have listened to Boston and foreigner but I’ll be sure to put them on my channel! Thanks for the recommendations! Happy new year!
