    As a Brexit refugee from the uk i had to work hard to secure Residencia in Spain so i am not sure why those people from North Africa should just turn up on a boat and secure Residency without any question?

    I'm glad to hear there's a good forecast for the olive oil harvest this year, despite my own trees having another year of zero fruit. I really hope we all get back to olive oil in the Spanish kitchen, not only for cultural reasons, but for health reasons. The ultra-processed alternatives have a bad reputation, health-wise.

      Likewise, my trees, another non crop.... Sod's law; 2 months ago l invested in an olive mill.... Better leave it in the box for now ☹️

      One year of no havest is not odd but natural. That year is called vecería in Spanish. If the "another" year is consecutive, those trees need some profesional care

      I love olive oil. And because I have high cholesterol, I used it as often as I can. But now it's too expensive. Why???

    Olive oil , wonderful stuff. It would be nice if the price comes down so we can all enjoy it often.

    Scoter regulations came into force in ireland last month. Over 16 only. Helmet, one person only, no seated escooters..etc...two lads aged 15 and 17 killed yesterday in waterford City at 2am when the scooter they were both on hit a bus..laws are only as effective as the people who follow them..

    How many people have to die due to irresponsible e-scooter drivers, before laws in Spain will hold them responsible? All e-scooters should have tags, compulsory insurance and helmets!

    Hola Stuart, I will not be buying anything else other than olive oil no matter what the prices are. If the price goes down that's fantastic I purchase olive oil because it's very healthy for you👍👍👍

    I looked at booking a train from Granada to Barcelona.
    Seriously shocked by the price.
    Could only find first class tickets to start with, and the cost was over 400€
    It is cheaper to hire a car and drive and funnily enough it won't take much longer than taking the expensive train.

    • @craphead9842

      Alex a simple check would have told you that you can't go direct from Granada to Barcelona... Bus and Train works out at about 60€...Alsa bus from Granada to Madrid then Madrid Train to Barcelona.... Takes about 10hrs.. Job sorted... ...Tony cuenca

      @@craphead9842 No sorry but you can do Granada direct by train to Barcelona. Just not cheaply.
      Anyway, cheaper by road.
      Would take my own van but it's too old and slow. Plus I need the space of a van ( hiring from Motril ) as have just sold a farm up there and need to empty it of personal belongings that were not included in the sale.
      Thanks for the reply though.
      There is also a direct bus service as well and I will grant you that is 96€ however I am not a good passenger on a bus, I get travel sick.
      Funnily enough though I prefer the Jaén A4 and A3 route across to Valencia and up rather than the Murcia way. Don't know why just do.

    Stu, bit confused perhaps you can shed some light.
    How can the "experts" predict/state that this year's olive oil harvest will be much better than last when the olives are not gathered until late October? Here in Portugal, I learnt over the years that the quality of the harvest depends on early October rain and lots of it.

    Government needs to realize that they need to compete rather than whine.

    • @ah84868
      @ah84868 3 місяці тому

      It's not as simple as that. If the competitor is operating in a manner where they are offering artificially (operating at a loss or only trying to break even) low prices with the aim of trying to increase market share and drive out other competitors then it's going to be viewed as anti competitive behavior. This is the reason the EU is looking to put tariffs on the Chinese electric vehicles.

  • @maartenb100
    @maartenb100 3 місяці тому

    Job vacancies should follow normal market forces. Pay more and vacancies will be filled. Prices will of course rise but that is normal. What isn’t normal is keeping wages low to maximize profits and then importing labour to fill the vacancies. That is criminal and should be dealt with.

    Why does govt not follow Benidorm for scooter riders. Compulsary to wear a crash helmet, compulsary florescent jacket and compulsary insurance. Riders seem more sensible there.

    I strongly believe the solution to all migration is the provision of opportunities for young men to gain skills and be economically active. This requires investment by the same counties complaining of the influx. Asylum is a separate problem from economic migration.

    • @terriblepainter7675
      @terriblepainter7675 3 місяці тому

      That is a very narrow perspective on a solution. It’s not just about skills. It is also about learning the language and respecting the local culture. Some cultures do not integrate, don’t respect the host country and don’t want to. See Germany, 45 knife attacks a day from immigrants against german locals and some enlargement of Islamic groups requesting the shariah law and order.

    Olive oil has to be much cheaper next year. Every one can see the olive trees here in Spain. If it keeps expensive we know it's an artificial made up and enough for a coup.

As soon as León has its autonomous community Salamanca will needs it own, ad infinitum. I guess when you live in Spain you have to create problems for yourself, lord knows it's a spectacular place.

    Training schemes - not sure that will work, but let’s wait and see. Will jobs be available at the end of it that pay a decent wage? Better idea in principle than the British Rwanda scheme

    • @DropdudeJohn
      @DropdudeJohn 3 місяці тому

      It won't work, it will just be money down the drain, if the sleazy lawyers and ECHR stopped supporting and assisting the illegals and instead supported and assisted people living legally then Rwanda is an elegant solution, tragically our politicians aren't serious or brave enough to carry it out.
