Dale jr. raced his heart and soul out on that track! He was determined to win. I'm sure his dads spirit was out on that track with him. Best speech by Dale at end~ :)
Every week we hear (& Junior hears) how he'll never be his Daddy. Today he achieved something even his Dad never did. #TwoTime500Winner For those who like to keep track of this sort of thing -- and many do -- it's been 0 weeks since @DaleJr last won a race....
@@zacharyh1747 26 wins aint a bad career. By most driver's standards, that actually pretty good. Just think of how many drivers enter the Cup Series and never win even one. As for championships... Well, Mark Martin never won one either, but he still had a damn good career. So, why not give Junior credit where it is deserved? Yeah, he ain't the greatest ever, not even close. But why bash him just because he never managed to put together a championship season?
@@zacharyh1747 Yea but the Daytona 500 is the Super Bowl. The most coveted prize in Nascar. If Dale Sr. never won it people would say he won 7 championships but he never could win the 500. Dale Sr. also won 7 championships using the original points system. The chase format ruined Nascar. Winning 2 500s is the bigger accomplishment. It took Sr. 20 yrs. and it's all he cared about
Jr is in the top 5 best restrictor plate drivers of all time, and anyone has yet to beat his record at Talladega winning back to back for 6 years and then getting his 7th Talladega win a few years later. 26 Cup career wins, 2 time Busch series champion and 6 back to back Talladega wins, in total 7 Talladega wins, 2 time Daytona 500 champion and winning 6 times in total at Daytona, and he’s so dominant at Super Speedways, and being in the top 10 more times than many other drivers, and to top it all off he is now in the Nascar Hall Of Fame so yea... Dale Jr is one of the best drivers of nascar.
This race is very special to me. I didn't watch Jr's 04 Daytona 500 win as I was so young. I always wanted to see my favorite guy win the 500. Before speedweeks my Grandma moved in with us as her health was heading down. This was the first race I watched with her, and it happened to be the race Jr would win. And it happened to be the biggest race in North America. As a 14 yr old die hard Dale fan I remember screaming and crying as he won and the image of when I looked up at the TV screen and seen "Dale Earnhardt Jr 2014 Daytona 500 Winner" is locked in my mind. That day was so special to me, I cherish it forever. After a couple months she passed, it was truly meant to be and I miss her so much God Bless you Mawmaw and thank you God for that amazing day that still makes me cry. ❤️❤️🙏🏻 - Garrett

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Appearing remarkably refreshed in spite of limited sleep, and with the prospect of a weeklong media tour staring him in the face, Dale Earnhardt Jr. said he believes the time has come for he and his team to rise to the occasion. "I think it’s our time. This is our year," the two-time Daytona 500 winner said Monday morning during the annual champion’s breakfast at Daytona International Speedway. "Every year we’ve gotten marginally better," said Earnhardt Jr., now a 20-time winner in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series. “It just seems that we would continue to do that this year. We ain’t got far to go before we’re one of the best teams, if we’re not already. "Being able to start the season with a win certainly solidifies my belief in our team. We ended last year finishing second (at Homestead); we were one of the best teams in the Chase, one of the more competitive teams when the season wrapped up. If we just continue on our path to improving, we don’t have far to go. We should be winning races. That’s the way I felt in the offseason. Then we come right out of the gate and win one."
One of the best Daytona 500 ever I witness and make it more great dale wins second 500 nascar had one of the highest tv rating in last 20 laps pipe piper of Daytona was wild think if dale wins championship every 88nation will go nuts
Seeing these Jr haters whine is music to my ears lmao! Go to the Jr sucks forum and man they are whining over Jr winning lmao. Dale Jr the best Daytona racer out there son! Goooo Jr!
If Jr didn't block Hamlin coming into 3 on the last Hamlin would've won the 500 cause he was comin strong. Anyways congrats to Dale and from the New format of the Chase he will probably be in it.

Dale Snr. Would've been very proud. It's hard to live in the shadow of a great late Dad. Congrats, Dale Jr!! Hope there will be more.

Awesome 😇
I feel as if carl stayed on gordons bumper, it wouldve been the 24 going to victory lane.. that car was FLYING at the end

And Jr. did it for his old man he won the Daytona 500 for his dad.
Good Race
You know they loved yelling that last name at the end of the race 💪
still cannot believe he won his second Daytona 500
Hell yeah!

Good for him he deserved it. That said, Rowdy's gonna own Phoenix next week :P
Better jr, than Johnson or, God forbid, Kryle shrub..... Bush has NO class at all, and never will.

I don't know what race the officials were watching but Jeff Gordon was clearly 3rd not 4th!
Yeah! I was thinking that!
Caution was thrown before the line.
Oh! Yeah! Forgot! :)
