Honestly I thought she would retire after Inuyasha finished She made all almost all her money off of Ranma and I'm pretty sure Inuyasha was just her fulfilling a contract she signed in the 80's i figured if anything she would just be writing one shots when ever she would get bored or whatever her favorite hobbies are to do
She's going to work until she dies or a stroke forces her to retire. She still has that same working all night to meet deadlines from when she did Urusei Yatsura. That workholic lifestyle will always be ingrained in her.

There are many posible prequels about Inuyasha. Naraku's work 50 year before Kagomes arrival, Shishinin tai origins, Moroku's grand father, Midoriko, the relation between Inuyasha and Kikyo, Inuyasha's Childhood, Sesshomaru´s life, Inu no Taisho's life, etc.....
