I’m only three sheets to the wind at the moment and this popped up on my “suggested for you” and I can’t tell you how much this warmed my heart. I wish I could have spoken to Delores just once, she seems like such a wonderful person. I think I would have been just as nervous, and I wouldn’t have had the wherewithal to record the conversation. Thanks for posting this, my friend. Cheers from Fort Worth, Tx.
I'm a bassist who was also inspired by Randy. I've talked to Dee on her bday the past few years of her life. Met her twice. It was like meeting Gandhi. Great job. I wish i had the nuts (or the toll) to call her back in the day.
wow man i can't believe i never thought of calling musonia to talk to her or or anyone else then that may have even known randy back then. I'm the same age as you and was a huge randy and ozzy fan as a kid trying to be a rockstar myself. really cool.
My dad went to Musonia in March '83 for the first anniversary. Delores met them outside and was incredibly kind to him and gave him a tour of the school and directions to the cemetery. I have a picture of him, his buddy, and maybe a dozen others (mostly immediate family) at the mausoleum where Randy was originally interred. She also gave my dad her home address and phone number. He sent flowers yearly snd would give her a call every now and then and she always answered chatted for a bit.
If there is any material that would've been for 3rd album PLEASE Sharon release some or all of it. There are a lot of Randy & Ozzy fans that need 2 hear what a masterpiece it probably is & so many of us fans r getting older & would absolutely love it including myself!!! RANDY 4 EVER. 😢 🎸 🌈
I called Mrs. Rhoads in '97 on my PC and she answered. Didn't want to bother her, but felt the need to connect to Randy's world. She and I talked about 5 minutes and it was a connection to a world I never thought I would reach. She told me if I was ever in the Santa Monica area to look her up for a free guitar lesson as she was still teaching at the time. She seemed concerned about how I found her number though- I told her... on the internet. We talked about technology a bit after that.
Me and my friend called her as well back in 84 or so and she was very nice , I don't have a recording of it unfortunately but thank you for putting this out because it reminds me of how nice of a person she was to me and my friend as well.
I called his mother at the school as well in 1984. I had a magazine that did an article on Randy shortly after the accident that showed the front lawn sign for Musonia with the phone number on it. I tried it and she picked up on my first try. She was just as nice as you hear her on this. I was a nervous wreck but I just wanted to tell her how much Randy meant to me as a guitarist. Sweet woman.
Awww..Such a wonderful woman sweet and wonderful just like Randy was ;-)Thank you sooo..much for sharing this with the world!~Jeannine R.I.P.Randy love you forever...
That's really great man. Thanks for sharing the vid.I have been to Randy's grave site twice now and hope to make it to the next annual celebration they have at mountain view cemetary in San Bernardino California.Long live the king of gothic rock guitar Randall rhoads!
great job, I have heard was interviews 20-30 yrs after the fact, you called just 2 yrs after and her memory of what was happened seems to be more detailed, talking about early work on the 3rd record ect. the impact of his greatness still was not fullly realized back then as metal was still growing in 1984.
Oh man this needs to duplicated a few million times so its never lost. And the original needs to be given to God. He's the only person i can think worthy enough to keep it safe for ever and ever and ever and Well i think you get the point. You have to research and find the phone that Randy's mom's voice come thru. And put it in a museum. And the house that the phone was in should be registered as historical property the land The land that the hou😮
Well.....i've heard of many people having called Mrs Rhoads at home etc. I guess it helped her grieve , all of the kids calling to say how much they loved |Randy. I don't know if it ever got too much for her or how often they called...but i think it must've been nice to hear how much people loved his music , she never got over him though. Such a tragic loss.
They started on ideas for a 3rd album before he died? Never heard that confirmed before. Must have tapes of that somewhere. Sharon won't let us hear it though. Great job on the call! I'd have been so nervous.
I've heard, from a good source, that "Bark at the Moon" (Randy version) was supposed to be a bonus track on the 3rd double L.P. but wasn't used because of the title?
I briefly met George at a small club Dokken gig in IL right before Tooth and Nail came out...84 still I think? Anyway I asked him if he ever heard of RR! God what a moron I was but we just didn’t have the info back then. He just gave me a basic response. Little did I know he taught at Musonia and lost the Ozzy gig twice by then!!

Wow that's awesome to hear! She was so sweet and kind..you can see where Randy got his humbleness from.

Delores was such a sweet woman and kind to everyone. Her life was dedicated to family and to music. Rest In Peace, Dee... 🎶🎻🎸🎼🎤🎺🎷🥁🎹
I love that she was gracious enough to entertain these guys. Just amazing.
I'm jealous...Randy is my guitar hero and influence

All I hear is a phone ringing
Wow, she sounds like a genuinely nice person, it's cool that she actually has a conversaition, instead of just answering the questions..
Awsome!

So cool!
Did the same thing in 1984, as well! She was so sweet and kind.
Hope all is well.
The Clarences
Yeah she sounds like a nice parent, which is why every kid that turns out good has great parents backing them. Randy truly loved his music.
That was awesome!

Robert Tornello Wrong
Randy had nothing to do with Bark at the moon. It was written by Bob Daisley after Randy passed away.
Dude thats George Lynch who answered the phone!!

Awesome! No wonder Randy was a sweet guy! His mom is the sweetest!
