My name is Danny Beal. Dolores (Mrs. Rhodes) was my piano teacher. I started with her when I was 6 years old. On the big grand in the big band room. As of this video,it is still there.I was inducted into the Musonia band when I was 14 around 1971. Kelle played drums. Randy was on guitar. Mrs Rhodes got us a few gigs at youth events. I have made my living on the piano for the last 43 years and continue to do so. I am very thankful for my piano lessons at Musonia. It is fun seeing Mrs. Rhodes and the old school in this video.
I seen Randy live at Seattle Center for his last show before his tragic accident Diary of a madman, it was incredible, he was so talented, my #1 favorite guitarist.
Jay Good true all that! Met him here in puerto rico before the tesla concert and i bought directly from him the first cd that he took out of the box right there in front of me. And, of course signed it and all the stuff i brought! Talked awhile and had a great time!
Frank, The look on your face when "D" was signing this is priceless. I was like a kid in a candy store just watching it and could only imagine how you were feeling. God bless the entire Rhoads family!
That lady deserves the most utmost respect & honor for her raising such a professional genius. Plus her loss (no parent wishes to outlive their children) in a sense to the rock world. So, she should be thanked continually, knowing that his short life still yields much fruit.
What a touching video. I had no idea that Randy's mom and brother were still involved in teaching music. Even though Randy died way too young and before he had a chance to get married and have kids, it's nice to know that his family is keeping his legacy alive. Interesting that they kept that one room exactly the way he had left it.
Hey Frank. Greg Dana here, I used to teach at Drum & Guitar City and Skips. When I was 18 I went to Musonia to meet Delores. She was so kind and gave me the royal tour. She even gave me one of his teaching cards. I gave it to Tommy Armstrong-Leavit who displays it proudly in his studio at Skip's. I'm glad you got meet her. What a blessing!!!
hard to believe the legend Randy Rhoads would be 60 now, imagine the influences and the music he could have produced in that 35 years, thanks Frank for allowing us to see and hear his mum Delores. Randy has gone but with the influences he has had to guitarists around the world his legacy will live on in the generations that will hear you guys performing
Gracious, loving lady. I'm so glad she was able to take comfort from the thousands of Randy fans who contacted her and told her what Randy meant to them.
Some rock stars/musicians who've died before their time became bigger legends for just that reason. I know that statement sounds a little cold, and perhaps biased, everyone is someone's beloved son/daughter. But it certainly does not apply to Randy Rhoads, he was the real deal. His talent, and unique style at the time, inspired so many to this day. We were given such a tiny taste of his talent, and it never ever gets old. Some guys are just great players, some are great musicians. Rhoads was both, and he would have kept pushing his limits. We were all robbed of what he could have given us. No mother should ever have to bury their child, but my god, what a talent that guy was. His mother must have been so proud of her son. Then to have it all come literally crashing down. Yet anytime you see her interviewed, she remains so gracious towards fans, despite how painful it must be. Rest in peace, Randy.
God bless and peace to Dee Rhoads who passed today 11/11/15. Such a classy wonderful lady, and you were very good with this interview Frank. Thanks! I am sure you are very sentimental tonite on hearing the news. She is with Randy now.
What a well-done instrumental played for Delores, Frank. You can hear the influence and simplicity of Dee as well as the unique and rich sound of the Les Paul custom - no wonder it was Randy's favorite.
It is truly amazing how quickly he progressed in his classical training! Just dabbling for 6/8 months before ozzy and then starting lessons! Amazing he was so gifted
Rest in peace, Dolores Rhodes… You’ve gone home to see your son, Randy, and your husband. ❤️🩹 Frank, this was an awesome interview and video, thank you to Randy‘s brother Kelly as well.!
R..I..P. Dear Sweet Delores, thanks for memorials, your music school, all artists who have practiced so long praying to be heard, we admire you. You’re close family, close friends, and pray someone will come close to Randy and you again. Bless your heart! What a legacy💔we can’t wait to meet you in Heaven someday. You’re so special and so inspiring here on Earth. Thank you!🌹🌹🇺🇸❤️💔🙏🏻✝️
When i was in highschool (1996-2000) i discovered Randy's albums with Ozzy and was mesmorized. I felt like i was the only one. But now I see there are lots of people who feel like me.
Thank you Frank!! I really appreciate it that you let us see your visit with Delores Rhoads. I have always loved Randy work. I have loved Telsa, from the first tour & beyond. I saw you on your first tour with Def Leppard. After you show you, Jeff Keith & Tommy Skeoch were riding around on a golf cart hanging with us fans. You were all so nice & humble. I met you again later at a baseball game here in Charlotte,NC. and lastly 2012 at show here again in Chlt.NC. Thank you Frank.for all that you.do
Thanks Frank, you're an alright dude. That was super cool that you shared that with us all. I can tell you guys were a bit nervous. Wow, she had lost her son when he was just 25 and she was 89 in this. No mother ever wants to experience that. I'm glad you played for her, that was sweet. Oh, and that room they keep just the way he left it for "meditation". I sure hope no one is trying to strike any faustian deals in there. Keep on rock'n, thanks again.
Hi Frank! My guitar teacher posted this video on facebook! I luv it and thank you for signing my guitar the way Randy Rhodes mom did! :I'm still rockin, singing, playing my guitar and writing my own rock music:) Peace - Haleigh
Great interview Frank. Glad you took the time out to do this. I always been a big Tesla fan. I remember you all played on the beach at Padre Island, Corpus Christi TX. I was a county lifeguard and I had the best seat in my lifeguard stand. That was 1986, boy does time fly !
Thank you for the great video. I'm not sure if you'll remember me Frank but my name is Eric Denton and I got to play with you guys in Amarillo Texas one year because I'd won a rock guitar contest and we were jamming and I played Angel by Jimi Hendrix and you said "Put this guy in the mains" you were very gracious and everyone treated me great. We play 2 or 3 songs that night and it was a highlight of my life. Thank you for that. Eric Denton
thanks poster!! Delores is such a kind and generous lady. I had the privilege of speaking with her on the phone back in 84. it was about a 20 minute chat that ill never forget. and i can see randys smile in her when she smiles.. thanks again and God Bless

RR has reached beyond this realm and will always be a legand and a musicians way of life. Tesla, thank u guys rock for doing that and devoting your time to share that experience. Thank You.
+Brian Potter Or….every guitarist could just be inspired by Randy's music, and not make a pilgrimage, and let his family live in peace. Cuz….sometimes it's not about what we wanna do.
Randy was the reason I picked up guitar after years of wanting one when I discovered him in 1986 it was the push I needed. I had always wanted to go out to see his grave and meet his family and tour the school he taught in. But now with his mom gone doesn't feel the same so I guess I missed out. Was my dream once though I hadn't realized his mom had passed till I saw one of the posts below. RIP and all that. Thanks Frank for doing the video and posting it. Life goes on.
Frank, not sure we've ever met, but I wanted to say that this is one of the coolest video clips I have seen on youtube in sometime. Very genuine and sincere. Very cool of you to share this and show your great respect to the Rhoads family. Respect! Stevie Rachelle - Tuff
Thanks Frank. Great Video. Really nicely done. Very sincere and thank you for being so respectful to his Mom. What a dynamite lady. Sharp as can be too. Very nice touch having her sign your guitar.
Awesome hearing about Randy from his mom. You can really see where he got his humbleness from. This interview definitely could have been alot longer though. I would have loved to hear so much more about Randy. Especially considering the lack of footage there is to see of him. But I still appreciate this and I'm sure Frank was super excited to meet her. Though that response to Dee when she asks if he has any questions leaves alot to be desired. Really sad to hear she passed away recently as I initially came out here last night to watch whatever I could on the anniversary of Randy's death. RIP Delores and Randy Rhoads
I met Dee in 1985 on a pilgrimage to Randy's resting place and she was so proud of Randy and she shared lots stories about her boy. she is a wonderful lady. Great interview. thanks guys
AWESOME video! So kind and sweet of Delores Rhoads. I remember going by Musonia many times in the 80s and when Craig Collins Turner was teaching there. She was always warm kind and inviting. She was a blessing to so many artists. God Bless her and Randy. Love Frank Hannon's playing and he's such a gentlemen and to share his great song with Delores. Randy was a truly inspirational player and you can easily see how it comes from his Amazingly supportive and loving Mom. Both of them are beacons of light.
Amazing video... thank you for sharing this experience.. it’s always been on my bucket list to get out to the west coast and visit Randy’s family, sadly it’s too late to meet his mom, but we did speak briefly on the phone in ‘88. I also spent time with Rudy Sarzo and we talked about Randy, he shared some fond memories... still weighs heavy on my heart, even after all these years... I wish we had more from this brilliant young musician.
Cool video. What a sweet woman. 89 year's young and she still "has it". God Bless her. What a great story. Thanks so much for taking your time to make it.
Randy Rhoads continues to inspire people to pick up the guitar today. He's still influencing generations that aren't even aware of it, as they learn his technique and style from the 1st generation of Randy Rhoads followers.
What makes this interview even better is that the guys from Tesla are famously humble, working class fellas. It definitely shows here, as well. You’re very fortunate to have had this meeting with Dee herself.
Thanks for the upload, awesome!! , & much respect to the Tesla band ! God be w you!! Rip Randy You are loved by all forever and always. He has touched more lives in the few years of fame, than i believe any other guitarist/artist, he put more music in one song than some put in an entire album, and who knows where he would be today besides holding/playing his favorite guitars. Love You Randy
Guys Thank You so much for not only sharing this video,But also and more importantly showing so much love and respect to this wonderful woman,Not too many people in this world today that go out of their way to honor someone for the contributions they’ve made in our society!!!!Im sure Randy is looking down from Heaven with a big ole smile on his face!!!RIP RR and DR!!!
Seeing Frank play the intro to Love Song for Dee Rhoads is one of the most enjoyable things I have ever seen on UA-cam...seeing this for the first time this morning...it has really made my day and I will never forget it...
Such a great video! I'm a RR fanatic and never knew of this interview. Also... My fav band of the 80's is TESLA! Just saw you guys in Charlotte last year. Me and my friends must have wore out our Tesla albums in the late 80's. Can't wait until you guys are back around! Thanks again, Frank!
I don't think I took a breathe the whole time she was signing the guitar. Christ - I'd be thrilled to just sit and watch Wheel of Fortune with her........
I think I'm now officially a fan of Deloris' :-) She gives off that grandmotherly type of feeling, when she's telling stories about Randy, it'd really be nice if she could do a full length feature film of her best Randy stories, I'd not only pay to go see it, I'd pay to own it!
I can't describe the feeling I got watching this video, but I know I don't have to, because I'm sure it was exactly what you were feeling while you were there. I don't think anybody who didn't grow up like us, in the time period that we did, listening to the music we listened to, and playing the music we played, can understand. This was practically a religious experience, to be there, in that place, with Mrs. Rhoads. What a wonderful, sweet lady. May she rest in peace. She and her son will never be forgotten as long as I'm alive. ❤❤
Awesome Frank! She is amazing and it was so great to hear her stories and watch her sign your guitar. The look on your face was like WOW! I love your Les Paul!! I have been an Ozzy tribute singer for 16 years now and still am just a homebody. Maybe some day I will get out there. Thanks again.
You and I think very much alike at times Frank because I remember talking to you "after" you shot this video and I made the comment to you about the one thing I trip on with Randy's playing is when you listen to what he is doing on rhthem parts under Ozzys singing and you suddenly hear these amazing little neuances and riffs that pop out at you, even after having heard the song a hundred times. It shows the level of concentration you use when listening to music- which is why your a great player
This is so sweet and heart warming. She is such a nice person. Frankie Hannon is an amazing guitarist, I heard him say that he was inspired by Randy. I love hearing that. I’m a crazy Randy Fan like Big time, huge huge fan of Tesla, They jam 💙💜🧡💚💛❤️💙💜🧡💚❤️💙💜🧡💚❤️😊🦋🌷🤟🪸🎸🌻😊
@Frank Hannon I really enjoyed this Vlog, it was so cool seeing you be a fanboy and getting an autograph. I had the privilege of meeting you a couple times and really appreciate you and your music. God bless you

Without Randy,I would not be who I am today..
Frank Hannon has always come across as a gentleman and true musician . And also one of the best guitarist to come out of the '90s .
Jay Good true all that!
Met him here in puerto rico before the tesla concert and i bought directly from him the first cd that he took out of the box right there in front of me. And, of course signed it and all the stuff i brought! Talked awhile and had a great time!
Someone started cutting onions when Delores said she loves to hear these stories....
Wow! Imagine having a guitar signed by Delores Rhoads. Awesome!!!
Frank got Delores Rhoads stamp of approval. Nice , very nice. How cool is that.
Frank, The look on your face when "D" was signing this is priceless. I was like a kid in a candy store just watching it and could only imagine how you were feeling. God bless the entire Rhoads family!
Frank is an amazing guitar player in his own right.
That lady deserves the most utmost respect & honor for her raising such a professional genius. Plus her loss (no parent wishes to outlive their children) in a sense to the rock world. So, she should be thanked continually, knowing that his short life still yields much fruit.

He wanted to keep recording albums with Ozzy, but wanted to stop touring. That third album would have beyond incredible.
That's right. He wanted to go back to school and earn a degree in classical guitar.

Thank you so much for giving us such a precious interview!
I’m a crazy Randy Fan like
