started playing in 2011 as a 7 year old, i played pretty consistently for the first two years but then went on and off every couple years and eventually got to krokotopia in 2017 (13 years old), as i kept restarting new wizards in wizard city till then. also finally had the patience to do the freekigames quizzes for crowns to get into krokotopia.
then took a couple more years to get through krokotopia and entered grizzleheim in 2019, which i wasn’t aware of being a side world and not part of the main malistaire storyline. playing more consistently through the pandemic at the age of 16-17 got me more of an excuse to use mom’s credit card and buy crowns in bulk to get through grizzleheim fasted, after which i simultaneously started marleybone and wintertusk.
it was at this point in 2021 i realized wintertusk and gzheim were side worlds, and marleybone was in the main quest timeline. got through marleybone and started mooshu in late 2021, played more in second semester senior year of high school and got through mooshu before i graduated in 2022. got to dragonspyre which i did mostly in the summer before college, and then left on a long break.
i got a new PC just before starting college (up till this point all 11 years of my gameplay were on laptops), and i never got around to playing w101, mostly just other games when i had free time.
i reinstalled w101 3 days ago, and finally tied up all the loose ends in wintertusk (finishing nordrilund and nastrond), and finishing up the fishing quest i had pending in grizzleheim (could never catch the bear acuda till now) and the crafting quests from dragonspyre.
i literally left the main quest line at “defeat malistaire drake” in 2022, so just yesterday i went over and finished off that magnum opus in about 30 minutes and casually closed arc 1.
quickly i realized i had a few hidden quests from 2022, mostly wysteria stuff i haven’t touched yet, but one was a stupid thing i forgot to do at the end of the wavebringer dungeon in mooshu. so i went and did that within like 10 minutes, now i have a completely new and fresh slate to begin wysteria and now celestia upon finishing malistaire.
its taken 12 and a half years for me to do arc 1 successfully. and now i see with the power of mom’s credit card i could scale that down to 12 and a half hours.
“I went the equally dishonorable route of using the ‘credit card spell’ in the Crowns shop for 5 dollars.” 😂😂 im dead
For me, it took me 14 years to get too finally beat the first arc. Too long but totally worth it!

Started playing when I was 8 years old, now I'm 21 and the game has definitely spiraled downwards. If it weren't for greed, it'd probably be a much better experience.
the paywall keeps the game running, its a reluctant sacrifice.
The biggest issue I have with this game, and I have been playing since the day it was released, is that 99.99 percent of armor, pets, mounts, etc.. look like crap, arent cool, and dont drive me to want to go farm them. Where is the cool wizard robes? Literally the coolest robe is STILL the school robes you got as a noob in wizard city... what the hell KI? Whoever runs their art department needs a one way ticket straight to a dumpster fire.. so bad.
There is a wand called the plant punisher's spike that gives a power pip at any level

Amazing video to watch from start to finish. I bounced off my chair when I saw the Wizard101 speedrun community mention LOL. I've been one of the newer runners of the game and its been a blast knowing the community. Keep up the good work king and I'm excited to see future content!
honestly love your content so much, as someone who has been a speed runner in this game for years its pretty awesome to see you doing this, its a little rough and a little bumpy but your times are great and its a good estimate for how long a prepped wizard should take to push through the early game.
It took me 2 years to complete the game back in 2009 (of course I was like 12 so... ya know)

I started 5 years ago with couple breaks spanning from 3 months to a year but hey I'm in Polaris fire 109.
I love how krokotopia is listed as shit in the end, truly is one of the worst worlds

Gosh, I remember playing when Grizzleheim was released and playing through the crazy raid that came out before Celestia. That's where I stopped but it's cool to see this game again in 2024
The best strategy to quest:
-Get your level boosted to 60 through portable dungeons with a max-level wizard as your partner.
Skip the lengthy ones if you don't care about getting the experience at the correlated levels for quicker levelling.
-Farm waterworks via the respawn glitch/house of scales a few times - Also, we all know the drop rates are horrid for Ammit (except Bellosh for the 1% accuracy and max spell deck).
-After you are set, and have either the Sky Iron hasta/damage wand + the level 56 damage ring and athames, you are ready to solo quest Arc 1+partial Arc 2 at ease in 1-3 days if you do it all day and night.
-PS. Make sure to get the sun enchants from Celestia in the base camp and the Floating Land.
i dont think theres enough portable dungeons in the game to get you to 60 off start

you should have gone Storm x pip tempest is over powered also there is an op lvl 0 wand that gives a power pip you need to farm tangle wood terror gauntlet with a lvl 1 character also the upper level versions give a damage % boost so it a really good starting wand, also fusilier gear is really op at low lvls u can get it from farming Krampus in december plus a 50% speed mount or even 55% would be helpful.

Really great vid. I would lobe to see you try this again but with more breaks and more focus on the later worlds. I bet you could get that time down by another hour or two
I did 4+ hrs for like 3 4 days per week for 2 months grinding throughout the summer and i went from 0-120 back when that was the limit so maybe 2.5 months now.
When I came back last month I destroyed Karamelle in 2 days Lemeuria in 1 and Novus in 1 as well.

I just beat arc 1 yesterday, didn't take long. Without using any Elixers. I was playing the free membership that they gave people not too long ago, then I got the 1 month membership. I can't believe I beat it that quick, I'm so glad people were able to help me. 😅

The max was level 80 when I started playing. I remember How hard farming water works.
You can buy a multiple level 20 wands off the bazaar for cheap that gives a pip lol. The one i got is Wand of The Firewind
I remember as a kid when max level was 50. I would be able to quest from WC to DS lvl 50 over a weekend. I did this for all my characters at the time. In hindsight, game was pretty short back then.
with the power of no sleep i went from 1--120 in about a little under a month just straight gridning solo with storm

Took me 11-ish years as a f2p player. Account made in 2010, came back to the game in 2021 and did the trivia for 100 crowns. Now I'm at Zafaria
as someone that’s quested way too many wizards the average quest/hr i was able to reach across all worlds was 50/hr
By the way, you can get a level 0 wand that gives a power pip in the Tanglewood Terror One-Shot gauntlet.

If you didn’t know you can craft the +200 damage card if your smart, but people ain’t.
I miss my wizard character she was deleted for inactivity or something. Idk i didnt play for a few years then played for 2 weeks them stopped for 8 month then tried to go back. She was gone. I miss you nora ruby rider

I get stuck and then stop playing for a year. It's happened several times. Lol. I get hooked, get stuck, take a break, get hooked again and drop a crazy amount if money on my account again. Lol.
took me about a month to beat the first arc for the first time, granted i did have all the free areas totally finished up until that point
im a "new" play, played in like 2011 but never had the money to get a sub but after years i saw a little bit ago them doing the free membership so i tried the game again, super addicted rn and am like halfway through mooshu and 45h LOL

Wouldn’t death be a better suite for the this challenge? After all a death wiz never dies they are basically built for solo and imo max death wiz are completely broken & op

I dont do Mount Olympus till after I finish Arc 1, personally I don't need it. but its good to have for Arc 2

you can hit max in a month or less pretty easily with gear and pets and stuff prepared

Everyone is always buying crown gear like the Ascendant Staff and Heartsteel like you can't just easily farm for those. Makes no sense to me.
Actually the winterbane wands are f2p and can be gotten at level 1 with an extra pip. Also, you could have done the entire run faster by paying 50 dollars for 30k crowns and buying an elixir

I take my time with beaten the game storyline wise. Roughly spent casual 2yrs at reaching to enpyrea when it used to be final world. Then a few days + for new worlds.

FYI if you plan to go into this game just be aware that people are toxic in this game
And like typical human fashion:
You're expected to play solo in a game designed for multi-player
Just powerlevel thru higher dungeons (You can get to like 100) till you can equip gear with enough damage & accuracy that with a sun enchant your 4 pip aoe just obliterates everything
You can do Wiz through Krysalis in under 24 hrs by using cheat engine and deimos
took me a week to max when 110 was max level accounting for getting all gear in waterworks/house of scales/darkmoor

I’m doing a one life challenge on twitch, if I die I restart no matter the level from 1-160 unless it’s against a major boss or in a team fight and my teammates kill the boss
With the power of cheat engine you may move 5-10x faster saving lots of time
To long to beat they need to either cut the level cap to make the earlier worlds easier or cut some content because from level 1-160 is ridiculous

it depends if its your first time playing you got a good like year or a year and a half probably more if you are casual and don't get some gear by lvl 60 if you have played the game and know what your doing eh half a year if you play for like 4 hours a day

But now that I got me own money I can use adult money to buy member ship hehe >:D. Anyways... Im still not sure if it is worth when I don't have too much time to invest into it. what do you think ?
I mean it’s not anymore of a time sink then any other mmo. If you have nostalgia it’s probably worth at least one month of membership to try it out

I'm actually curious about this for like an average joe. You know, if I'm a kid just playing a couple of hours after school every day without much optimization or strategizing, what will my timeline look like?
The game is completely manageable for a fast, efficient player. But the game has this like secret, implied audience of "random kids who have parents" and I wonder what it looks like for them. (Maybe not the ones that don't know how to move fast at all, but definitely interested in someone who doesn't have a god pet, or tons of crowns gear.)
