The state of Missouri invests over 800 million dollars each year in the Department of Corrections and operates 21 state prisons. One of these is the North East Correctional Center (NECC) in Bowling Green, a good hour's drive north of St. Louis.
10,679 employees at the Missouri DOC ensure that it stays that way. 650 of them are Correctional Officers, one of whom is Deputy Warden Ashlie Brooks, 34. She and her colleagues have worked tens of thousands of hours of overtime in recent years to keep the system running. The film looks behind the scenes of everyday life in prison. From the perspective of Officer Peterson and over Richard McCool's shoulder. And the film shows a completely new development in the Missouri State Prisons.

I totally understand your emotion, but don't forget...We ALL sinners. We all heading to hell unless we find Jesus and repent for our sins. Yeah I know, anything involving kids hits us in our guts pretty bad. But that is very sensitive area cause we all love our kids, so we get a strong emotional response. Murder is ending someone's life permanently, and they're GONE FOREVER six foot under, and yet somehow we are so desensitized to it, that murder doesn't even hit us as hard in our gut, but that ain't right. It SHOULD hit us even HARDER. But lemme say this...
It IS possible for people to make a mistake, even a terrible one like taking someone's life away, or what this man did in his past, and then they repent, and they authentically change with the help of God. It has happened many times! There is an example of this from the Good Book. The most beloved apostle, Paul, responsible for bringing the Bible and the Gospel to the entire world, and writing half of the entire New Testament all by himself, was a brutal, bloodthirsty, mass murderer, who personally stoned men to death for being Christian and had Christian women and children arrested and imprisoned and executed.
Then Jesus cut him down to size to get his attention, by striking him blind and he put the Holy Spirit in him and he changed. Totally changed. He was then given his eyesight back, and For the rest of his life Paul did God's work. He was sorry for his sins and God forgave him. If the creator of the whole universe forgives a man, then who am I not to forgive a guy? Jesus said that if we do not forgive others, then we will not receive forgiveness ourselves.
No matter what a man's past sin, it IS possible that they can truly repent, accept Jesus for REAL, and change.
Prayers for all these dudes doing time. Not everybody is good outside the prison walls, and not everybody bad inside them walls. But we ALL need Jesus. God Bless you man. Have a good day, enjoyed your comment.

I have found myself thinking the same thing. One of the side-effects watching these shows is that I have nightmares about being put into prison. I appreciate the fact that it was just a bad dream that I can wake. Hopefully, it will provide a clear warning about what could happen. There are things that once done can never be undone. It would be beneficial for every youth to see. The old "scared straight" theory.

After going to college and doing all the things I thought I was supposed to do, I spent 19 months locked up off a 2 year sentence in 2018 after battling with opioid addiction. It wasn't like I expected it do be, but I also managed to work in the law library with imbued upon me some level of general safely as I represented someone who could potentially help with someone's judicial release or other legal maneuver which could get one out early. I am thankful for recovery and the gifts of no longer using, but my record has really impacted the things I can do for my career. I work with our electronic health records system and data analysis at a drug and alcohol treatment center, but working at a non-profit isn't exactly lucrative. Either way, I have a life today and will never have to see the inside of one of these places again!

I worked there for 8 1/2 years as a corrections officer. I ran housing unit # 3 for a couple years but also worked in every position in the institution. This video makes the prison look a lot better than it actually is. I have been in movement teams, I have seen people stabbed and commit suicide. The deputy warden was a correctional officer when I was there, she stated that there was an incident a couple years ago when an officer was injured. I worked there when that incident occurred. The prison is not at all in real life that they showed on this video.

@@UmdogTR please don't say African prisons. It's not a country. The 'prison' that I've been is called Devon Prerelease Center in Ekurhuleni between GP (Gauteng Province) and MP (Mpumalanga) . I was sentenced to 12 months direct imprisonment (i.e. no option of a fine). However because of parole conditions I knew that it meant 6 months IN which means my date was 20 December or 2010. Just in time for Christmas. You see I was convicted for being a threat for the ⚽ FIFA WORLD CUP 2010. tourists. I was convicted for Fraud and it was really strange that I got such a harsh sentence just for $10,000 dollar white collar crime. And they didn't allow me to represent myself instead they provided me with a Legal Aid (the free lawyer that's supposed to defend you if you cannot afford a lawyer.) But anyway that placeis a hotel. That one had a swimming pool, a library, computer labs, gym, sowing classes where they make outfits like tailoring, field work in the outside garden (that's how the weed gets in) sound system for Recreation, Sports equipment. the only contrabands were really just 3 which is weed, cellphones and weapons. Everything else is aloowed, including money, real cash is allowed up to R400. The money is used to buy at the shop. So the 'Prerelease' part I got to learn by asking guys what they were arrested for and to rep their hood and I found that some of the inmates are from Maximum prison (15years and up) and so the money and all that luxury is for these dudes to get integrated back to the community and to learn to use money and I also found that they put them in the same prison with non violent offenders who are doing no more that 2 years sentence. Now it made sense why there was not much violence. The most important thing was weed. If there was 2 consecutive days and there was no weed in all Units from B Unit to G Unit that's when they would be a small problem. Food is overdose. Everything clean. Hospital fully equipped. Everyone who wants a job gets employed and on Wednesday you can take the cash or leave it in your account. I was wearing a gold ring a gold chain I had so much cash that some days I wouldn't even go to the kitchen. I stay in my cell (4 mates per cell) 2 beds with the one on top. I slept at the bottom bed. I had a MP3 player blasting THE KING OF RNB "WHEN A WOMAN LOVES".
I'm a bit ashamed to say but it was a blast. I just felt bad for those who had no homes to return to after their done with their time.
That's was what I experienced thanks to the World Cup. If it wasn't for that World Cup I was just gonna pay a fine. I would have bailed in court already. The money was there all cash. So I blame the tourists but at least I was arrested on 20 December on a Sunday and sentenced on the next day... which was also strange. No bond. No remand. No bail. No appeal. Nothing. To protect the vulnerable tourists. At least I saw some of it plus I was in Soweto, Johannesburg 🇿🇦
I really missed out on a lot of memories and money. I even had the number of a Brazilian chick that looked just as dark as me. 😢 Now I'm arrested. No more foreign 🍑 No more forirn currency 💱
That was the only real punishment for me.
