Homeless to Harvard: Teen talks "surreal" journey

  • Athena Capo-Battaglia and her mother went into the shelter system after her mother was diagnosed with cancer. But the pair never gave up on Athena’s education - and after she graduated with a perfect GPA, she was accepted to Harvard University. She just finished her first year, and is studying to become a neuroscientist. Michelle Miller reports on the teen’s “surreal” journey from homelessness to Harvard.

    Wow !!!! What a challenging life for Mom and Daughter. Some people gets life so hard. Harder, especially for health wise. Dealing with cancer or any illness is such a struggle. So much ups and downs from day to day. Good Luck to you both and may your suffering days be ending soon.

    This is a police officer I support and admire and if you speak with her you can see the difference you can see it in her eyes and her smile the lost and the pain a d she been out there so she knows God bless you girl

    Beautiful but being homeless should not happen in America.. I hope the rich will contribute to good causes instead of buying art pieces for millions of dollars.. I hope we as a society can establish a program to prevent this type of sudden homelessness and poverty
