Good to see a recent review of this cover. Most are a couple of years old and changes have been made in that time making it hard to compare. The biggest change I noticed is the tail gate weather strip. That's a huge improvement. I also noticed the bumpers up front are different on yours. Someone else put one of these covers on and one bumper was falling off the next day. Another video showed those being about 1/4 the size yours are. Must be a very recent change.
Thanks for this review, very helpful. One question I have is whether or not there any issues with vibration or any squeaks, rattles, etc. Small noises like that drive me nuts when driving and so far my Ram doesn't have any issues in that regard. Not looking to add any, LOL. Thanks again!
Great review. I have a '21 Ranger and I'm considering a hard tonneau cover, but I'm doing a lot of research first. This video answered a couple questions I had, but I still have a few. Have you noticed any marks on the cab from having the cover resting on it? How is the padding they provide for that? Is it adequate?
Thanks mate, there are 3 large foam rubber strips that rest on the cab window for my truck, it shouldn’t cause marks unless you rested on some dried dirt while driving around causing it to scratch, check out the retractable rolling cover as well those are pretty cool In my opinion
I had bakfip before like 3 covers. Cs was excellent. But covers chalk up in uv. Parts seem too wear drasticaly after the first year
I just bought one for my 22 Ranger and what terrible quality. Waiting for a replacement cover but that could take a couple weeks from Bak. Hope the replacement is good
What was wrong with yours?
@@WeekndGarage On one panel all the screws were over torqued in the aluminum and fell out. The seals on the rails were all wavy with adhesive exposed. The cover seals are on crooked. One of the little rear corner seals was half torn away and the little corner caps are twisted in the front. Very low quality for an over thousand dollar cover.
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 That sounds terrible man hopefully the replacement works out, i agree with you that the quality ain't great for a 1k+ product
How was the replacement BAKFlip MX4?
@@jdub1139 It was pretty good. The latch screws weren't stripped and everything functions well now. The side rails with cockeyed seals weren't replaced though so it's not perfect but doesn't leak.

I like the cover but can’t get around the fact that it leans against the truck cab when fully open.

What cover did you have before ?
Do you have a problem when you close the tailgate not closing properly where the tailgate light on the dash indicate it’s not closed? I have to slam my tailgate extremely hard for the light doesn’t come
It was a local shop brand in my area, think they imported it them self

@@dtharley3 Yea I'd try that next, if you close the tailgate first then the cover is it still hard to close?
What a joke for a 1400 cover. Tiny hail absolutely fuck the cover. Worse 1400 I ever spent. Soft trifold is the way I go form now on.
Insurance should cover if the cover was damaged in by hail?
Year late, but for anyone else reading the MX4 isn't design for hail. The company has other models designed for hail. At the time of writing if you search "bakindustries catalog" they have a chart explaining their different models. Honestly how they name their product really suck.
How would a soft cover be better in hail…….
