Exploring Glass Beach in Fort Bragg

- Glass Beach in Fort Bragg is a unique California spot that has become a popular tourist attraction over the years. This beach was an area where the locals dump their trash in the early-mid 1900's and over the years the ocean has broken down the glass into small smooth pieces that coat the sand. In this video we explore the beach and talk a little bit about the history.

We visited Glass Beach in August of 2021. We were totally disappointed. There is very little glass there, mostly just a dirty sandy coastline. It was so bad we were literally laughing as we walked back to our car. We spent two weeks travelling the California coast and redwoods and we decided that Fort Bragg and especially Glass Beach should get the award for the most overhyped place we went to.
Overrated. So little glass. Can't recommend it.
I heard that it used to look even better back in the day, but since a lot of tourists took glass there’s not much of it left anymore. It still looks nice though:)
Ironic: determine trash is scenic therefore don't pick up the trash
It’s so cool to see Fort Bragg through a visitors eyes. I was born and raised here and unfortunately I sometimes take a lot of its beauty for granted. Glass beach for example, I don’t even remember the last time I was there! It’s a beautiful day here so I just might have to take my son on a beach trip after school. Great video!!
I used to go to glass beach in the 80's when it was so much more full of glass. I remember old hippies with multiple buckets collecting different colors of glass and looking for different glass shapes. I think they were making some sort of art with it. We used to collect it for our fish tank back then, when it was ok to take the glass. I remember finding numerous Indian head pennies in the mix.
Locals call it trash beach
Born and raised in California, and im just now being "introduced" to this beach. From the comments, it seems like it's been ruined😭. But, I still think it's worth visiting. Adding to my bucket list❤️
Thanks to videos like this, there is no more glass on glass beach. Just add humans!!
Glass from the world fairs
I remember going here about 15 years ago, it use to be COATED in glass. I wish nobody took from there, it was so cool. I remember finding a part of a bottle buried super deep that still had the Coca-Cola stamp on it, still left it though!!
We live in the Bay Area and have been wanting to visit Fort Bragg. Hopefully soon.
I'm at glass beach watching your video lol!
Fun history! It is smaller than I imagined... not sure what I imagined, but larger apparently - ha ha! Always a pleasure watching your videos.
I was there just in December!
I'm headed up that way next week on my motorcycle. Can't wait to check it out. Cool video 👍
