I'll say at that point of time everybody knew he was the main man. He was the only player known capable of playing at the level of Messi, plus he joined us when we were trenches below Barcelona.
The situation here is different because Mbappe enters a team that has won the CL since he chose to stay at PSG, plus the fact that we have a player already who has shown a comparable, even better level of decisiveness as a player, one around whom the team easily could have been built around.
He had to play a season with the shirt number 9 to show deference to Raul and the crowd didn’t love him for a while. Defo have to earn your stripes no matter how good you are.

I think Mbappe will actually understand this. He has been the center of attention, the big star at PSG. It’s a conscious decision to leave and he will have te earn his place in Madrid’s team, and to be part of something bigger than just his own ego.
