Micah picked the wrong Bayern team. That 2013 team should've made the list. Destroyed Barcelona 7-0 when they were at their height still. Robben, Ribery, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Muller, Neuer. What a team that was.
The 2013 Bayern squad was one of the best ever, Robbery, Neuer, Müller, Kroos, Schweinsteiger and Lahm ... Jupp Heynckes coaching them. Completly unstoppable in 2013
Well, it was great team. But Hansi Flick havent lost A SINGLE match during 2019/20 season. They won literally all possible cups and trophies they could win. I tell you this: i have never seen so consistent team as Flick's Bayern.
@@krowaswieta7944 Oh pls dont try to compare the uncomparable xD If we go down that lane we have to meet up in a pub, drink a few beers and THEN we can start the Bullshit talk xD Thats not my level, both fantastic and great teams who won it all
@@vitanus Well, you see even 2013 Bayern had its downs and ups. 2019/20 Bayern was scoring more goals but 2012/13 was conceiving much less. Overall Flick's record of winning games is more impresive than Jupps from 12/13.
Robben and Ribery are probably quite a bit stronger than Gnabre and Coman. However, Lewa is much stronger than whoever Bayern's striker was then- Olic? Muller, Neuer and Boateng were still playing in 2019-2020. Kimmich is as good as Schweinsteiger in my opinion. Kroos is quite a bit stronger than Goretzka for now but Alaba is probably a bit better than Dante at CB but Davies has been phenomenal at LB (even compared to Alaba there). Lahm was a great, great player but Pavard also won a WC and a CL and turned up in the biggest games. For me, the midfield is definitely better with the 2012-2013 side due to Kroos but the attack and defence are much more even and might even swing slightly towards the 2019-2020 side. The fact that Bayern literally didn't lose a single game in 2019-2020 and played some of the best football we've seen in recent years deserves credit.
Yea but they never got to the level other teams played like. I’d take any of barcelona’s 2009,2011,2015 teams against those madrid teams every time. Different levels.
That Ajax team for 2 seasons 95-96 played some beautiful football. A team of young players who became world class. VanDerSaar, Danny Blind, Brazil 94 world cup winner Marcio Santos, Frank De Boer, the infamous Winston Borgarde, Ronald De Boer, Marc Overmars, Edgar Davids, Jari Litmanen, Patrick Kluivert, Kanu. This was a great attacking squad with solid defence.
The Milan team from 2002 to 2007 never gets the recognition they deserve because of the 2005 final. Had they won that final everyone would say they were one of, if not the greatest team of all time.
@@specter1586 That is not a valid reason when you have teams like Man Utd 1999 and Bayern 2020 in the list. Three finals in five years with 2 wins is an excellent record, far better than any Manchester United team has ever managed in Europe. Over that period Milan were also narrowly beaten semi-finalists in 2006 and quarter finalists in 2004. They were the definition of European royalty and consistency for their era.
I don't know why people fail to mention that Madrid won 4 finals in 5. It's not just 3 in a row. I don't know, I feel like not mentioning that leaves a big hole in how great that team was.
Bc mentioning it puts messi's barca in a shadow of Cr7's real. It's also the same reason why the media acts like Spain treble wasn't a big deal, it was normal. Messi is not Spanish and see his barca teammates dominated the biggest stage without him hurt so many people. Some pundits even said on TV with no filter messi should have ditch Argentina for spain😂😂.
Bayern 2020 was so crazy, im a psg fan but this team won everything and won all games in the CL this season, Lewandowski missing the record because of the no-away-match cuz of covid, two football masterpiece ( 8/2 vs Barca, 7/2 against Tottenham), Chelsea demolition in 1/16 This was just an amazing team that crushed my dream of seeing psg win it and I have to give them credits for this
In 2020 Bayern became the first team in the history of the Champions League to win every game up to and including the final. With Barca 2009 they are the only team that won everything in a year (sextuple). They HAVE to be up there. Actually the only CL team Messi has a bad record against. Their run 2013 was impressive as well but stats wise 2020 you can't ignore. The panel almost didn't care.
@@juanfernandocastilla2845 True, but what that's supposed to mean? XD I think that season Bayern were the best and they proved it enough. Not every team can face every team in CL... Good to see Henry and Carragher both picking Ajax. I remember watching that final. Van der Sar, Reiziger, de Boer brothers, Litmanen, Davids, Seedorf, Overmars, Kluivert. Players who would have great careers at huge European clubs for the next 10-15 years. Insane team and so young at the time.
ua-cam.com/video/czQvLsZie08/v-deo.html This is the following season but Ajax absolutely dominated Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. This was one of the most impressive away performances I have seen.
Thierry I love you, picking that 95 Ajax team! They were so young but sooooo good! Litmanen, Kluivert, de Boer, Davids, Seedorf and lots of other talents, combined with aged veterans like Blind and Rijkaard. What a team
Henry is so much more knowledgeable than the other two. The benefits of being well-travelled and having tested yourself in different countries and environments I guess
@@oldskoolmusicnostalgia Carragher is the most knowledgeable of the three and it has nothing to do with their playing skills. It's Not Henry! OOH Yeah and don't forget they lost in Penalties to Juve in 96, they could have been 2 UCL..Litmanen was scoring goals from everywhere in that 96 run..omg...i think he moved to Barca after that....Ajax has produced some of the best Talents ever...
That barca team was something else. if anything we should have done better in the 2009 final ( which barca shouldn't even have been in?) No shame what so ever losing to them they were the best ever hands down.
Mate that barca team was really unbelievable, I stood in front of the TV as I watch the game I knew we will not win, our players did their best, but they had Messi, simple as that aside from having a great squad they had Messi at his peak, no chance.
Even rooney told fergie to play defensive just shown how great that team was, but as a barca fan i respect fergie to stay on his philosophy until very end which is attacking football even they got humiated so bad
@@bajilucu7997 I Wouldn't call 3-1 humiliating considering we pulled it back to 1-1 and against that team who would beat any team. I agree though we should have sat back like inter did but buyern proved the best way to sink that team was all out attack. But this wasn't our best team either even though we played good football. We should have played better in 09 when we had ronaldo and tevez in the team but its all history now :)
For me personally, the greatest i have ever seen, expect for guardiola's barcelona, is ac milan in 2005. The team they had was something absurd. Having player like maldini, nesta, pirlo, kakà,shevcenko, crespo, cafu, gattuso and many more was simply unbilivable. Such a shame that they lost the final against liverpool. Especially the way they lost, from 3-0 to 3-3, is what makes people forget this extraordinary team
That 2005 was the peak of Ancelotti Milan. 2003, when they won UCL was the start and 2007 when they last won it was the end of the era. From that period (5 years) they went to 3 finals but lost 1. Ironically, they lost it in 2005 when all the players were in their prime. Kaka was emerging while they still have Rui Costa. Sheva and Crespo upfront and still had Inzaghi on the bench. Not mentioning their defense rosters lead by Maldini. Unreal
One team that will never get the recognition has the best of all time because they lost in '05 was Milan from '03 to '07. Unbelievable superstars and some all-time greatest players scattered all over the pitch.
Stupid good team Maldini-Nesta-Stam-Cafu Gattuso-Pirlo-Kaka-Seedorf Shevchenko- Crespo Sure, some of them weren’t in their prime (older - Stam, Maldini, Cafu etc// younger - Kaka, Pirlo) but my lord what a starting XI. Who is the worst outfield player? Gattuso? Crespo? Says everything
That's what I would say as well. I am a Barcelona fan but in that 3-peat Real was the most dominant in 2016-2017 I think by far. If you remember 2016 not to not give them credit by any means but their draw was probably the easiest, they have ever had till the final, and in 2018 the way they beat Bayern wasn't the best as it was with quite a controversy as I think VAR was still not available, but that has happened for basically any football team ever. But when I think of the best team, I basically look at what weak spots a team have, and in that 2017 lineup you couldn't find a single weak spot, I think Juventus was the best defence in Europe at the time and they smashed them 4-1. Definitely in the top 5 of all time imo over the 2018 team.
@@muhammadhasham9547 Great team I already mentioned it, but they didn't create enough chances or score a lot of goals. If you wanted a draw or win 1:0 yes it was probably one of the best teams, but to humiliate opponent I'd pick Real Madrid 2017
Bayern 2013 was a bigger force who had certainly been missed..Let's not forget Bayern was the same team that reached CL finals 3 in 4 years from 2010-2013....it had the same core team...Also the way Bayern demolished the Barca in 2013 and again in 2020..are stuff of legends
Yeah Bayern reached 3 finals in 4 years.....stuff of legends you say, but let's not forget that Madrid won 3 IN A ROW, and 4 in 5 years. The disrespect to them is insane.
They all had the wrong Barca team at #1. The ‘08 had some great players. But the 10-11 version had the best team. David Villa, Pedro , and Busquets were so much better for the system that Pep was building. The ‘10-11 had to be the greatest team to ever grace the game.
No 2009 was better team. 2011 had messi doing tons of individual stuff But as a team that 2009 barcelona could do eventhing and thy were not as dependent on messi to succeed. In fact, in 2009 they kept better posession, had better defenders and etoo and henry would sometimes do better than messi. In the final in 2009 etoo played better than messi. Etoo was so good he carried inter the year after in 2010. The 2011 team was tough to beat but they were more dependent on messi.
Ridiculous that they didn't mentioned the Ac Milan 2005 squad, I know they lost at penalties against Liverpool, but I think that was one of the most outstanding team i ever seen: Dida, Stam, Nesta, Maldini, Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso, Kaka, Shevchenko and Crespo. What a team!
Because they lost that unfortunately they cant be one of the best UCL teams. You can be the best team, but you cant be the best ucl team when you dont actually win the competition. That is the sad truth: there is no place for runner ups:(.
I think 10/11 Barca is probably the greatest. 12/13 Bayern and 19/20 Bayern were absolute machines can't say for sure which ones was better but 19/20 Bayern was certainly one of the most dominant teams, they put every team to the sword, they scored 43 goals. No team has ever scored as many in a regular UCL campaign, and they did it in 2 less matches, put 10 past tottenham, previous year finalist, put 7 past chelsea, put 8 past Barca. Went on a 15 game winning streak, longest in the UCL history, which only ended when they fielded a second string side with 3 - 4 18 year olds against an Atletico said fighting for their life in the group. You probably gathered I'm a Bayern fan by now lol. Anyways 2014 - 2018 Madrid team rest would be that 92 - 94 Ajax team Those are the 4 standouts I can think of. There's the AC milan teams, the 00 - 02 Bayern team. the current Liverpool team.

I’d say 2010/11 is the best club side ever. 2008/09, I think, showed the system of tiki-taka but 2010/11 showed it executed to perfection. What made it better was that I think the 08/09 team was actually better based on players. But 2010/11 was where they had the perfect players for the system and they had done their roles as well as they could have.

The 16/17 madrid has to be better than the 17/18. They were the best european team ever. Every player in that team were at their prime. They had one thing that other teams lacked was the mentality and switching on whenever they want to.
Nope. The Milan team from 03-07 is the greatest team assembled. Each position was played by the best in the world at that position. Every position. The fullbacks and midfielders the attackers. All ballon d’or contenders in the top 5 for their position it’s crazy
Exactly. As Henry was saying that it 08/09 Barca team was academy players so was that United treble team that was mainly homegrown players and academy players
Ajax - 1994/1996 went unbeaten for almost two years in the CL with only four foreigners (Kanu, babangida, finidi George and the great Jari litmanen) veterans like blind and the legend frank Rijkaard and the rest of the squad being youth products from the academy. Beat one of the great ac Milan sides of all time twice, beat bayern twice and absolutely battered real Madrid at the bernabeau so much that the crowd actually applauded the Ajax team when they left the pitch after 90 min.
If I'm not mistaken it was Panathinaikos who eventually ended their unbeaten run? How unlikely. I still get shivers watching the footage of the teenage Patrick Kluivert scoring from veteran Rijkaard's assist in the final. P.S: little correction to your comment, they didn't beat Bayern twice, the first leg in Germany finished 0-0 and in the second Ajax trounced them 5-2 in Amsterdam. The season after it was Real Madrid whom they beat twice.

Other teams that younger football fans should know about. Johan Cryuffs Ajax Amsterdam won 3 European Cups in a row between '70-'71 to '72-'73 and included legends like Mühren, Rep and Neeskens. This team, first managed by Rinus Michels, revolutionised football with their Total Football style of play and was the foundation upon which the playing style of the great Barca sides of the mid-to-late-2000s was built. The original Galacticos, Real Madrid of the late 1950s. Captained by the great Alfredo di Stefano- arguably the footballing G.O.A.T.- this team was stacked with star players such as the great Brazilian Didi, Hungary's G.O.A.T. Puskas and Paco Gento. The won five (5!) consecutive European Cups and their 7-3 win over Frankfurt in the '59-'60 final played in Glasgow was an inspiration to Sir Alex Ferguson, "Eintracht Frankfurt beat Rangers 12-4 on aggregate in the semi-final and, being a Rangers fan at the time, we thought those guys were gods. They were the best team I'd ever seen in my life, and then they got slaughtered 7-3 in the final! That put into perspective how good Real Madrid really were."

In retrospect, Sacchi's Milan (1989), Van Gaal's Ajax (1994) and Pep's Barcelona (2011) were the greatest teams to watch while they were winning trophies. Real Madrid has outperformed all other clubs in terms of trophies but they were more ruthless than entertaining - except for the era of Zidane as a player, with that memorable goal against Leverkusen (2002). Real surely has winning in their DNA, they showed it this year more than ever.
Real outperformed the others in terms of silverware over a few years so they have to be in this list for that impressive acheivement but it never felt like they were the overwhemingly dominant team in the way that some of these others were. Little story. So back in 1994 the World Cup came to the USA, but most of the games were shown on ESPN and ESPN2, which were cable channels. My dad noticed that both my brother and I loved playing soccer and wanted us to watch it so finally decided to make the move and ordered cable tv. After the World Cup ended, I still wanted to watch soccer but the only channels that had it were the same ESPN channels from before. Crazy enough, because ESPN were still somewhat “new”, they didn’t have many tv deals for sports and the only soccer league they had was the Dutch Eredivise. I would get off the school bus after elementary school and run from my bus stop to my house and turn it on. I always remember seeing this 1994-95 Ajax side destroying teams and became a young fan. Also, because of Ajax, I started watching Champions League for the first time. After seeing the coaches wearing the champions league ball patches, I decided that I wanted to be those coaches. So in the end, because of my dad ordering cable for the World Cup, I fell in love with the game, and followed my dream and goal of wearing the champions league ball patch and became a college/professional soccer coach. One day I’ll wear that patch on my sleeve. Thank you dad and thank you Ajax.
Jose's tactical brilliance brought out the best of that Inter team. Sneijder was robbed of the Balon d'Or that year. Also they bested Pep's Barcelona which is no small feat
@Layen GallagherTrue. I agree 100%. I suppose it’s why I instinctively labeled them as “Jose’s Inter”. Take Jose away from that equation, and you get a Bale hattrick at the San Siro. That treble winning side was peak Jose - they would’ve died for him.
@Layen Gallagher I would argue that they had top 5 to 10 players in every position (Chivu and Stankovic probably the weakest ones). Cesar Maicon Lucio Samuel Chivu Zanetti Cambiasso Stankovic Sneijder Milito Etoo Jose made a real team out of them and got them to perform according to their potential. When you say overachieved, are you saying that squad wasn't really good enough to win CL?
@Layen Gallagher If I remember correctly Inter won its 5th consecutive league title that year, so they were definitely better that Milan och Juventus at the time. Inter might not have had the world's top 1 player at all positions(what team has had that ever?), but they didn't have holes in their eleven as most of the other teams had where the quality dropped a lot in some positions.
Covid and the format was weird. They also started the season badly and Kovac got fired. Beat Lyon and PSG. We're talking about the 5 best teams ever. Bayern 2012-2013 was more dominant.

1. Zidane's Real 2. Pep's Barca 3. Del Bosque's Real 4. Ancelotti's Milan 5. Heynckes' Bayern 6. Ferguson's Manchester United 7. Capello's Milan 8. Lippi's Juventus 9. van Gaal's Ajax
Referees won 3 champions leagues in a row never forgot the fake gifted penalties late on the matches to save Madrid against Juventus,Bayern munich, Wolfsburg if you actually watched them you will know how bad Madrid was paying the referees
1. Pep's Barça 2.Enrique's Barça 3. The rest doesn't matter. Madrid fanboys should accept Real ain't top 5 any season. There are many treble winning teams
I think when i look back at every Champions League final then I have to say Liverpool in 2005 when they came back from 3-0 down and coming back to 3-3 against AC Milan and wining penalty kicks that was for me the greatest Champions league final that I have watched on TV
Barcelona 2009 to 2011 by very very far the best club team ever. The way they played, the dominance the opposition, the amount of titles, the fact that in the same period the spanish national team whose backbone were Barcelona players won everything Euro, World Cup...
A team that’s always slept on is the 1991 Red star team the amount of talent that came from that region was insane they were all extremely intelligent players and they won trophies while the country was at war.
Barca in the 90s was pretty amazing, led by one of the most underrated players of all time, Michael Laudrup. There's a famous player from that team who is now an extremely successful coach. He's quoted as saying "All the important lessons about football, I learned from Laudrup." That coach is Pep Guardiola.

I haven't watched this video yet but the first team that came to mind was mid 90's Ajax. I have never seen a more dominant side in Europe than them. Steamrollered every one in that seasons competition.
It was a dynasty followed by another. 80s was all Liverpool, but by the time they got banned due to Heysel and lost grip of England cuz of Arsenal and Everton, AC Milan took the mainstage as the ruler of Europe in the wake of the 90s, then by mid 90s they couldn't hang with a young Ajax who took notes from them (Danks Rijkaard), but then they got challenged and outmuscled by a rising Juventus whose Trap era was responsible for ending Liverpool's dynasty in the 80s. Juve was the main dominator of the late 90s until Man United, Bayern and Real Madrid came along to end the decade into the early 2000s.

Yea i thought so too, but when Milan won it two consecutively in '89 & '90, the tournament wasn't called "UEFA Champions League", hence why they probably didn't consider it. So they basically picked the best European squads in the last 30 years.

2010 Inter deserves a shout. Not only did they won the treble, every player would fight for the team and the manager Jose Mourinho. The connection between the manager and the players was special, you just cannot have that.
The barca team of 2009 have been the greatest I have ever seen on the grass. How they dominated games, especially that midfield trio of Buskets, Xavi and Iniesta. What an orchestrated midfield.
Barca 10/11 played the greatest team football ever and had amazing chemistry, 08/09 and 14/15 Barca had amazing talent but the team chemistry and football wasn’t as good
Exactly, I saw all of them, but with the 10/11 the opponents couldn't even get a touch. Not just in the final but the hole season. Never seen anything like it, before or after, was like a well oiled machine. And also was by far the best Messi, was his absolute peak, he was so unpredictable, you just couldn't defend him. The 09 was great, love Thierry and that Samuel Eto'o is probably the most clinical striker ever, Agüero couldn't even wash his shoes. But as a team, the 10/11 was better, I'd argue that even the Heynckes Bayern of 2013 were better as a team.
Sheeesh great times the goat team. They set the trend winning 6 in a year. Good luck to Liverpool if they can get 4 titles that would be dope and would put there team and era in top 5 teams all time imo

They played well but the finals were close and either team could have won it. When you look at the Barca 2011 team, there was no debate on who was the better team. It was complete domination. That is why most people put that team as the greatest club team to ever be assembled.

United 1999 were actually facing lots of top class teams
I mean they faced Bayern 3 Times, they faced Barcelona with Rivaldo and Figo, and then 2 Italian Giants inter and Juventus
I actually thought that the opponents each team faced on route to glory should play a considerable part in this list making
I mean it's easier to beat Roma, Wolfsburg, city on route to the final rather than psg, Juventus, and Bayern
Or even psg, Chelsea, and city
so real madrid 21/22 has to be named
Agree totally same group as Bayern and Barcelona. Meet a free scoring Inter with Ronaldo then Juventus go over to Turin and win also to play Bayern in the final without Scholes & Keane and still win . Also this united team were pushed all the way in the premier league by a great Arsenal side
