My parents moved to Lahore from Bombay in 47. Had a memorable struggling time and my older 4 siblings still remember those times. They stayed mostly in model town. They have sweet beautiful memories of Lahore and the people.

Yes... there was a Caltex Petrol Pump near the tail of FC College connecting to Zahoor Elahi Road turn. and Yes there was a khokha too which also offers Chai. I have been to that place many times and had chai too from that khokha. and Yes even 20 to 25 years before Lahore still had its tehzeeb, but now it has all gone. Thanks for inviting Salman Sb.

I visited Lahore in 1985 in the summer vacations of my intermediate exams. I fell in love with Lahore. Especially the Lake and area around it. I wish i was born in Lahore too and experienced it as a child. The only confounding variable was the presence of the new age politicians with their ill gotten wealth alongwith generals who are after the same. I had an uneasy feeling about it, and now in 2024 i can say with confirmity that i saw it coming.

I was lucky enough to visit Lahore in Feb 2006.Watching the test match was just an excuse and watching Lahore was the reason. Enjoyed my stay extensively but just one complaint in could not buy news paper except on last day I could lay my hands on it from a shop that sold samosas,news papers and magazines.I gained 3kg in 9days.Food Street was just outrageously good.

As a Lahoree I am totally agreed with him. The culture and atmosphere of wonderful Lahore is destroyed by the people who came from small cities and towns.
Now I also avoid to go outing in my own city because there are other people and there actions.
It doesn't matter which small town or city people come from. One they are in Lahore they become a Lahori... that's the magic of Lahore. To me a real Lahori is one that speaks in Punjabi and not an urdu speaker. Once you lose your language you no longer are part of that fabric.

When talking of old days Of Lahore not to forget Model Town, Mall Road, Gulberg, Lawrance Garden, Government College, Kinnaird College, Flattie's Hotel, Plaza Cinema, Shezan Chain of restaurants and many more things. So it was not all about narrow lanes,phajey ki paye and Anarkali as U have mentioned. Please note that grand shopping malls, multiplexes, upscale restaurants and five star hotels, U see nowadays are also built by lahories and not people from small towns.
