People have different opinions on Jey. Not everyone is a huge fan. Some people have always thought he’s mid and others might take exception to Breakker losing the title so fast
Personally, I like that Bron loses unexpectedly to veterans like this. The story is that he’s still a rookie and his arrogance is his weakness. It leaves a lot of room for character development which is convenient because his push should be a longer game.

My thing is bron already ate a pin 2 months ago. Which didn’t need to happen. Seeing him take yet another pin, 2 pins in 2 & a half months despite being presented as an unstoppable monster isn’t a good look. There should’ve been a fatal 4 way or something months ago & jey could’ve won all while protecting bron. But jey only gonna have the title for under 60 days as well probably not even that, because of what? The bloodline. It’s weird they gave him the title to use as a prop for the bloodline just so bron can get it back within little time

The people mad about Bron losing just don’t get it Jeys been in the WWE for forever. I think it’s a lot of newer fans who are mad because they don’t know the Usos history. They might have heard about it but they weren’t a kid like me in the early 2010s watching the Usos tag. This is Jeys first singles title ever and he’s getting a lot of money right now. Bron Breaker is gonna be just fine.

I feel like a lot of jeys fans just started coming around. People don’t know about pre singles jey & pre bloodline jey. It happens. & if that’s the case a lot of guys should have won because they were around for a long time but it didn’t happen to some of the guys who deserved it. My point is bron should have been handled better. Him taking 2 pins since July doesn’t sit right considering who’s presented as this unstoppable force. First off I apologize for the essay. But, with all due respect, I've seen Jey from the beginning and I'm still not sold. Watching the Uso's go from face painted Samoans to "Day One Ish" was cringe. Watching the Uso's fake the gangta persona was cringe, and as fun as it may be to say "YEET"... It still makes me cringe considering how late into the Yeet meme they decided to bring this to WWE.
And with all that aside, that's not even the reason I'm not sold on Jey. For me personally it's his moveset. I, along with a lot of people I speak with on wrestling all agree that Jey's moveset is extremely limited to Superkicks and default moves. Not to mention how he just took Romans Spear as his finisher instead of coming up with something more innovative/original.
Bron Breaker just feels like more of a breakout star when it comes to actual wrestling. Jey however was just given a gimmick that's SUPER over. Not to mention that the gimmick wasn't even created by him. A lot of people forget to realize that Jimmy was the first to Yeet. Thus making Jimmy the original Yeeter of worlds. I still don't understand till this day why they took Jimmy's Yeet and gave the whole persona to Jey. Hope this explains the other half 👍

@@Strange_Da_Range I agree with most of what you said there I grew up with them face painted them got out of wrestling and got back into it in 2022. So I’ve missed a lot of character development there so I can’t speak on that. But what Jey does in the ring it’s a lot of superkicks, slap punches that don’t land and thigh slapping a lot on his kicks. If you gave Jey Uso a empty bag and drove him to Fort Knox and said if you have one match without slapping your thigh on a superkick you can walk in and take all the gold u want he’s coming out empty handed 😂😂 But the guy has the personality and charisma to carry off what he’s doing right now. Is the YEET meme old as hell and dumb when he says “catch a Yeetdown” yeah it is but he’s found a way to make a lot of money right now. His bank account ain’t complaining that it’s cringy. Bron Breaker is gonna now just have to absolutely destroy everything. If you thought what he was doing before was raising hell he’s gonna take that up to 150% Adam Pearce is getting fucked up definitely now he’s not just gonna stand there and say “Nooo stop” Bron is taking him and throwing him into a wall or something.

I don't hate it. Jey getting a big win and finally paying off his main event moniker, getting a title change on TV, playing into Bron's weakness that he's too cocky and lacks ring experience, and now freeing him up for maybe a main title picture. This feels like it's a lot of positives for the negative of a short reign for Bron, which I don't feel like hurts him too badly. Not every reign needs to be 6+months changing on a major ppv

Jey Uso EARNED this opportunity to finally be crowned the IC Champion. I’m a firm believer in your most over guys being rewarded for putting the work in and in this case, it works out for all parties
You presented Bron like this dominant beast and his lack of trying to finish the job when he had the chance to, is what’s making him lose.
He wanted to destroy Jey by putting him through a barricade and that is what led to his downfall. Bron is 26 years old and is CLEARLY the next top guy for the company, so for everyone saying he’s buried, take a breather and relax lol😭

For future opponents for Jey, I think we still have more fuel to burn with a Dominick Mysterio vs Jey Uso feud, with Jey needing to overcome the same gang tactics he used to employ in the bloodline. Bronson Reed clearly deserves to be in the title picture. Maybe after survivor series, due to a choice Jey makes, he starts getting targeted by the Wyatt 6 for hurting his family. I think you could have a really interesting program with any of these options and have a believable threat of Jey losing the title against them

My opinion: Bron didn’t get buried, it just made the Bron run lackluster…
He lost to Zayn on first challenge, and now he’s barely defended it before losing to Jey Uso (who is somewhat of a comedy act)…
Bron isn’t completely buried, he’s young and he’ll get his momentum back, but this hurts Bron more than it helps Jey (who is/was already over, while Bron is still trying to get over on that level)
Also, would have meant more on a PPV + after Bron already had an established run with the title (I get the surprise element, but Bron needs to be booked stronger than others for his character)

It seems they arent building Bron to be an unstoppable beast, because he is already getting over with the audience, so they are doing a pivot and telling the story of him being overconfident, losing, going back to the drawing board, and learning from his mistakes. Which people could eventually get behind, when he goes for the world title. Maybe thats been his character since NXT if I think about it.

    Thank you.
I've heard this "WWE just buried [add name here]" so often I feel like the entire WWE roster got "buried" somewhere in their career. Well the entire roster except Roman Reigns who "got shoved down our throats" the majority of is career.
A good chunk of the IWC seems to not having much patience and trust in storylines. Does WWE underutilize a good part of the roster? Yeah for shure!
But like Austin Theory (who got "buried" after his unsuccessfull MITB cash-in), Bron has decades of time in the ring in his career left and I think both will be maineventers in some years. Losing the IC title is nothing like being buried, it is taking a run-up. He is still in his "rookie-phase".
I even can see Jey being only a transitional champion, because he looses the title in the build towards Survivor Series due to the involvement of the new bloodline, giving him motivation siding with his family again.

Tbh, I think this is good for Bron's story. He's torn through the roster since his debut in NXT, he's thought himself unstoppable, and it goes to his head a lot. Maybe now that he's been knocked down a peg or two, it'll make him a bit smarter and overcome that arrogance. A few spear tackles and an Uso Splash will hopefully do the trick. I'm only disappointed that Sami didn't come out and sweep Jey up in a big ol' hug when he won.

  • @seanred7681

People are hating it because people can be stupid. Honestly, this is stupid. You are 100% right, this is NOT a burial. Bron losing the title this soon was something of a surprise, but I don't even know that it should have been. The problem is we're just coming away from Roman having the WWE title for several years and Gunther having the IC title for a year plus so now I think some fans have it in their heads that every new guy needs a long title run of months to years to really establish themselves - they don't and Bron doesn't. We can see Bron will be a big part of WWE by what he's already done - he won the title in a few months, he's been destroying people. This is not a burial, he will be fine. On the other side, how long could they keep pushing Jey Uso and having him be as over as he is without giving him a title? Jey needed and deserves it.
If Bron had held the title non-stop for another 6 months, the accusations would start that HHH books too many long title reigns and that would be the conversation.
This is just a case of you can't please all of the people all of the time. I wasn't expecting Jay to win, but it makes sense and I don't hate it.

There is one good argument I've seen against the change, which I partially but not entierly agree with. It's not specific to this case, but it's that all current main eventers are in their 40s or late 30s now. There’s a feeling that younger talents like Bron and Trick Williams need to be elevated quicker, so that they can start peaking in their physical prime, and then be legends in their 40s, like how things used to be. For example, Austin and Rock started peaking in their early 30s and late 20s respectively. The same ages Trick and Bron are now. The reason it's somewhat misleading is that wrestlers take care about their health much more now, so they can go longer. But I do agree that we should be going for younger talent when possible, to make sure there are legends for wrestlers 10 years from now to have great matches with.

  • @Fieryxjoe
    @Fieryxjoe 3 місяці тому

I think that Bron got so many Lesner comparisons, that the company was slotting him into Brock's spot and giving him stories and rivalries originally intended for Brock.
This got people in the headspace they should treat him as a Lesner level threat and of course Lesner would never lose to these people. People expected a Goldberg/Asuka style undefeated streak.
WWE booked themselves into a corner with Jey, can't call a guy "main event" when he never wins anything. He needed a win and they aren't actually willing to give him a top level title or King of the Ring or a Rumble win or anything. So they had to sacrifice some of Bron's momentum to prove Jey isn't a mid-carder and finally give the fans some kind of payoff for supporting him so hard.
I bet they give Jey the title for a while and he will have to prove to the company he could actually be a top guy at some point.

Generalizing here, but most people who don't like Jey Uso are part of the "work rate" corner of the internet wrestling community. Anyone who doesn't have "good" matches will generally not be looked upon favorably. Most of that crowd does not like Jey's ring work, so it's tough for him to win them over.
The Bron Breakker aspect to this is, again generalizing, people being afraid that his momentum will be killed by losing matches. I don't think that's the case really because there's storytelling in his matches that explain how he he doesn't just run through everyone. He's inexperienced and arrogant and those things sometimes costs him in matches. The arrogance cost him the match on Monday. The other part to this, and this is just my opinion, is that most of the time wrestlers who are booked to flatten the roster aren't actually good. The aura around them is what makes it work. I don't think we have much to worry about with Breakker. This isn't like Goldberg or something, he's a lot better.

ill start off by saying im a fan of both jey and bron. i think the people who are upset over bron losing are newer fans or people who just don’t understand pro wrestling. bron has consistently been put in a prominent role on tv since his call up. hell they gave him the most prestigious secondary title in his first year. plus, as you mentioned, bron was given a bit of an out. he underestimated his opponent, belittling jey in a backstage interview and even opting for pushups instead of following through with a pin mid match. this to me feels similar to the story they told with sami and bron where bron underestimated sami only to come back and destroy him and take the ic title.
if i had the pen i would’ve kept the title on bron but im not upset with jey winning. he’s been in the company for a long time and he’s super over. it could be argued that jey didn’t need any title because of how over he was but i digress. jey’s win was a special moment and im happy for him and jey fans.
there’s a part of me that also thinks they wanted shut rikishi up lol.
i don’t think jey’s title reign will last very long, as i mentioned before this feels similar to the sami and bron story. i think bron will eventually come back, run through jey, and get the title back. again this isn’t necessarily what i want to happen but since the company gave jey the title, i predict that’s the path they’ll take. long term, i kind of want to see sheamus and bron for the title at wm. it would obviously be a kick ass match and i’d have sheamus get the victory, finally winning his first ic title.
if bron doesn’t get back the title that’s ok, i think either way he’ll be a world champion by the end of next year. bron’s a badass he’ll be fine.

Bron will be FINE. If people think he's not going to get his heat right back next week they're kidding themselves. This is a big deal since it breaks the streak of every title reign "needing" to be long and drawn out and it presents the idea that a title can change hands on Raw, not just a big 4 PLE. Bron's 26, been on the Main roster for 6 months and has already accomplished a ton. He'll be a world champ before anyone knows it.

I feel like Jacob Fatu will get the belt from Jey since Solo made him give up his tag team belt. It was bittersweet though, i love both jey and bron so i wanted jey to get his belt but i also wanted bron to have held it and defended it longer.

I'm only sad because I pictured something and it didn't happen. At this point I hope it happens in the rematch.
Jimmy coming in and helping Jey win. Maybe Jey is injured and he's getting whooped. He's getting pinned when suddenly a hooded Jimmy forces a rope break. Then the referee gets knocked down and Jey scolds Jimmy because he doesn't want his help, he doesn't need it. Jimmy responds with a superkick and Jey dodges and it hits the actual opponent. Than Jey caves it's stereo superkick into 1D into the pin and title retain. Episode ends with the face-off. And it's a weird face off because Jey is pissed but grateful? It opens up so many scenarios and it makes the Bloodline Wargames everyone wants so much more interesting.

I think people are just used to the 2010s when someone would piss off Vince so he'd make them lose their title and then just bury them for no reason. This isn't the same era people. Bron will be okay. I personally am happy for Jey winning the title and I'm glad we're bringing back shorter title reigns and better weekly show matches rather than saving them for wrestlemania and summerslam.

i don’t love jey uso as much as some but i’m glad he FINALLY won some singles gold after being called “main event” for so long. however, i wouldn’t be surprised if he dropped the title back to bron sooner rather than later. if that happens, then i’ll be annoyed that he won. if bron couldn’t hold it long, then hopefully jey will have a lengthy reign with some fun defenses in his stead. maybe even defending it against sami at a ple? i don’t know, i just hope this reign isn’t as bland and short as bron’s was for me.

I think a bigger misstep than Bron losing to Jey was Bron beating Sami however many months after Sami beat Gunther because I felt like it devalued that victory. At Mania 40 Gunther came of the longest and most dominant IC title run of all time, and so when the person who will beat him eventually does his run will be a though act to follow. I think Sami should’ve held the belt for a year and lost at Mania 41. That said, I do think WWE giving Bron a big push is the right call. He’s a talented performer who has the ability to be a big star in the company, which is why I think he should’ve been in the Money in The Bank ladder match and won the briefcase. That way Bron can have has big push and Sami’s credibility isn’t sacrificed a little bit.

The people mad at Jey winning are either only being performative to get reactions or because they are shortsighted and think this will actually bury Bron. Jey is way too over to not eventually win. It’s his time now and it’s been his time for a while. There’s PLENTY of time for Bron to win a title and have a lengthy, dominant run. He’s been booked way too well and I’m sure creative has an idea to get his momentum back and propel his story forward. His time will come.

Individuals in online fandoms usually get loud like this when unhappy and quiet when satisfied, so I don’t think opinions are changing on Jey. People are basically trying to debate their individual preference on twitter because they know Triple H reads twitter. 😂 I’m neutral on it all. While I enjoy Bron much more than Jey, I liked the surprise title change on Raw as it makes future matches less of foregone conclusions. I also like to see more variety in title reign length's, so this is good. I've also heard from trusted dirtsheets (wrestlepurist) that Triple H is extremely high on Bron, so I'm not concerned in the slightest for him.

We do like Jey. This moment was AMAZING!!!!!! Definitely a minority. I think Bron is getting more character development. As you said, it's definitely shades of Sami's match with him. I think Bron is working his character very well with the getting overconfident and showboating 'causing him to lose.
I think he gets a rematch with Jey and takes him seriously and gets the title back. Either way I popped for this and I'm happy for Jey to show up at Roman like, "well, well, well..."

I don’t hate it. I get people feel Bron was a good fit as IC champion, but if WWE didn’t finally give Jey a major W it was going to cost the fans behind him. He needed a W like LA Knight needed the US title. Bron is like 26-27, he’ll clearly get the title back and go beyond that. He’s got so much time ahead of him. Jey needed this right now to take advantage of how hot he is with the fans.

Ppl don’t like their expectations upended, which is why you saw extreme joy (me) or extreme disappointment.

This idea of Loss = Burial needs to be the concept that is buried to the point of not being mentioned again if we're talking about WWE and Triple Hs booking. It's a stupid train of thought that one of the most over guys in WWE, who's got that DAWG in him, gets buried after a title match against another most over guy in the game. This match took nothing off of Bron except for that title and he's going to get it back probably sooner than we expect.
In fact if Jey hadn't won, it's his momentum which probably would have been stifled since the narrative has become for a long time that while Jey says he's Main Event, he hasn't actually accomplished anything on the level of Main Event to label himself so.
This match win helped Jey while not taking anything off of Bron. If anything Bron is going to be even more intense going forwards and I can not wait for that.

The problem with Bron losing by underestimating his opponent is that as you said, this is a continual thing that he does. He did it at least twice in NXT, he did it with Zane, and then again he did it with Jey. Every time he gains the momentum he loses, and it's not character development to learn the same lesson over and over again, he just looks like an idiot. I personally am very happy for Jey and I think he deserves it, but just think it's unfortunate that it came at Bron's expense. If this was the direction they wanted to go I think it would have been better for everybody is Jey won it off of Sammy, and kept Bron away from the belt until it was his time.
