Violence doesn't bother me. But when you have goofy dudes doing it just for shock value, it comes across as comical. Still don't see them as "badass", but it is funny nonetheless.
I loved the match. It made me wince throughout the first half and was uncomfortable on the whole. But for this particular story with these particular guys, especially Hangman, it was nigh perfecto.
If people enjoy this I guess to each their own but I find this stuff strange and masochistic I don't understand why people want to see other people actually hurt each other. Pro wrestling was at least originally two talented people putting on a show protecting each other trying to be safe and that is what makes it so Impressive any person can mutilate themselves that's not a talent.
@@polarfamily6222 that's not a argument my point is either valid and fair or invalid and unfair. I watched it because i watched the entire show and enjoyed some parts but did not enjoy others was just sharing my opinion which is what these comment sections are for.
Did you ever watch the Taker vs Mankind match? How about Rock vs Foley? Ever see anything the guys in ECW were doing? Maybe an Edge & Christian Con-chair-to. Rey Mysterio getting his eye popped out? Vader getting it popped out for real? My point: the whole purpose of professional wrestling is to make the audience BELIEVE you’re killing the other guy. That’s why all the punches, the kicks, the chairs, the sledgehammers, the tacks, the barbed wire, the endless bludgeoning and mayhem. Mutilation is the goal. And yet, pretty much nobody dies. Because it LOOKS horrible, but it isn’t ACTUALLY horrible. You think one needle is worse than 1000 thumbtacks? Ask the guys that landed in them face first. It’s still wrestling, still an illusion, still the point of the whole thing, and still why we watch. The “good old days” you reference died before Gorgeous George put on a robe.
@@thatboybearno the problem is alot of the stuff people are doing looks horrible and IS HORRIBLE. Guys are getting fd up and legit hurt all for the sake of trying to get over. Traditionally you pretended to be massively hurt and got over. Now wrestlers get legit hurt but they dont get over. That's why wrestlers almost weekly are bleeding or going through tables all to get an ounce of audience engagement. You give examples like vader's eyeball except neglect the fact that it was a pure accident and not meant to happen. Things like the conchairto when performed well, its 100% safe- no contact even gets made on the target. Theres no art in just self mutilation. Thats just shock value and you might as well just watch jack ass.
@@BigDaddyColawho’s legit hurt? Who’s hurt in AEW more than in any other wrestling promotion? Getting hurt is an expected part of the job. Taker wrestled that Cell match with Foley on a broken ankle. And how are you saying those guys aren’t over? Swerve was just the frikkin champion; Hangman was champion before. How “over” do you want them to be? Despite the protracted and dedicated hate of the promotion, it’s still thriving, still selling shows, still impacting the business. Hell, TK single-handedly resurrected ROH and his deals with NJPW and the lucha scene are expanding the market globally. The company works. The styles work. The “over” works. Just because it doesn’t work for you doesn’t mean it doesn’t work.
Brad says thats not what wrestling is about! Who are you to decide? Opinions are like butt holes, you know? Maybe dont be so soft. You dont like it, dont watch. Have someone else cover AEW due to your sensitivity
The needle, the cinder block it was hard for me to watch the match, but is a blood feud!? Both objects had a point and I'm sorry I love The Undertaker but is the same the Mandkind chokeslam, need it no? At least Hangman and Strickland had a reason
If every wrestling company did the same crap it would be pretty dull. Also can someone remind me?,how many people have died in AWE and how people have died in WWE or even been paralyzed for that matter🤔
Aew really scares me sometimes with the lengths their willing to go through. I get that wrestling is scripted and all, but at the end of the day. The human body is still the human body.
AEW is not choosing the lengths they will go to; the WRESTLERS are choosing the lengths they will go to. Spike Dudley’s done interviews on some of the bumps he took, one in particular Taker choke slamming him over the top rope to the floor. He had to convince Taker to do it. Taker asked Bubba Ray, and Bubba said, “If Spike says he can take it, he can take it.” These guys are choosing the risks they want to take and they’re not gonna do anything beyond what they’re comfortable with. The human body is still guided by the human brain, brains they’re all using as they have will and agency to do.
First of all I think the Needle spot looks dumb, but it's been used in death matches in Japan since the 90's and its nothing new. Doing a Needle spot isn't something fans are going to chat like they do Tables for Dudleys. And AEW is about variety so they are probably going to do everything there is to do in wrestling at least once, that does not mean that they are going to Make a habit of the Needle spot. Also, the Needle spot doesn't have anything to do with illegal drugs. I've never heard any wrestling company that did a Needle spot associate it with some kind of substance. Maybe that's what you think, but the original idea of the Needle spot was supposed to be that the Needle had AIDS on it. And it was used in Japanese death matches where they also had piranhas, baby alligators, scorpions, beds of nails and panes of glass, and contraptions like Scissor ✂️ boards and gusset plates. The fact is that Needle spot to the AEW Sickos, they knew that it was just a Japanese death match gimmick. It doesn't matter if you or I like it or not, the fact is that it is a standard death match gimmick and AEW like I said does everything and anything that has already been done and there is a fanbase for death match wrestling. I hate death match wrestling but everyone knows that a good wrestling show will have something for everyone. From comedy to lucha, joshi, hybrid style, old Memphis style, the popcorn match, women's matches, midgets, etc... so bottom line let's not discriminate against the fans that enjoy crappy death match garbage wrestling. I mean AEW is the alternative to Sports Entertainment and the WWE. AEW is for the Sickos. AEW is not going to sacrifice their vision or betray being true to themselves by toning down, going PG aka PC or catering to casual fans over their actual fan base. AEW is like a death metal band in wrestling. Everyone always says that if the death metal band changes certain things and made the vocal easier to understand or didn't play so loud and heavy that the band would have better success. Well anyone who is interested in death metal already knows that the band plays death metal because they want to, not because they want to make it and be successful in the music industry. If a death metal band wanted to be more popular and successful, then they would probably just play Metallica or something more radio friendly. This is why AEW is the alternative to Sports Entertainment. They play wrestler for the sake of wrestling. Tony Khan is a millionaire mark and AEW is his fantasy wrestling league. We should be happy to have a company that is in good shape and provide opportunities to fans to see an alternative and for the men and women to come to an make a living outside of the WWE
Anything regarding needles gives me the heebie jeebies. Living on the streets you lose a lot of people to overdoses. BUT I need to express, that's MY sensitivity coming into play. To each their own. I mean it's definitely getting a heck of a lot of attention. Do I like it? Nope. But does prowrestling revolve around me and my tastes as a middle aged man? It certainly better not.
AEW has guys who came from a Deathmatch background and are very aware of the Deathmatch scene in general, that's why they keep bringing in staple guns, glass and syringes, the syringe spot was a thumbtack jack thing back in the day and lighttubes are obviously a Deathmatch thing, it's not going to be everybody's cup of tea but being a fan of Deathmatch wrestling I love that they keep pushing for the more brutal spots
We get both opinions, the level of violence was carried out for the story. Swerve invaded his home, hangman burned his childhood home, there is more to it, but with that there is already a level of taking it personal. In Ecw no matter the storyline there is some extreme rules to it, since that is there habitat. Whereas this match was violent due to the story being told.
I literally, watch a match between Kurt Angle, Big Show and two jobbers. Kurt shot Big show with a tranquilizer gun, twice in the back. Needle hanging out his back. Then they beat him down and shaved his head. It was on smackdown during the attitude era. Just saying
This the thing I don’t understand ecw had as bad matches and everyone loved it now that a company battling wwe now it’s a problem I don’t understand it
To be fair I don't think most audiences have seen the craziest stuff of ECW. Because remember that the WWE did release a ton of that stuff for the DVDs especially the stuff with New Jack who could take it to very over the top levels.
I don’t think it “went too far” because it was violent. I think it went too far because it was silly and over-the-top. It just reeks of “Look how edgy we are!”
I respect Booker's opinion but I don't necessarily agree when it comes to the supposed Shenanigans of tag team matches not being in WWE. I remember the same kind of shenanigans back in the day granted the style in the way they wrestles a little different but it still existed.
I have to say even though it's more violent and it's a bit exaggerated the AEW matches. However WWE still used to have brutal matches. I will even say the Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood was brutal. Not on the level that AEW did add double or nothing but it was still brutal.
In my personal opinion there's not one type of wrestling there's a bunch of different types of wrestling. As far as going too far if you're asking if it's going too far they're doing everything right. You can't be a afraid to be what you're supposed to be. That's what that type of wrestling is meant to be. And that kind of wrestling there is no such thing as too far if it goes too far then doing right. What I found about Aldi wrestling is it consists of multiple types of wrestling. To me pro wrestling isn't one thing it's whatever it is to whatever you like. It just so happens I like all wrestling types.
The only thing that I didn't like was the the cinder block. A hole in a cheek will heal, but they could have been paralyzed from that cinder block. I want to see them walk away and fight another day.
The thing is you have a company trying to make it look real as possible so you have to men beating the hell out of each other there is going to be blood don’t care who you are now needle may be to far but come on that’s what they wanted to do so leave it alone man if you don’t like it don’t watch it’s that easy
I wanna say it went too far I've seen MFs get bladed with weed whackers in matches so even though I think it was idiotic, it certainly wasn't t the worst ive seen
A man died on WWE pay-per-view and continued the paper view. Stop the hypocritical shit. They for sure continued a show when Mick Foley received CTE by going off a cage twice while concussed.
This feud was all about the gore can give. A visceral fight between two humans who hates each other.. If this was scripted and booked by WWE I bet everyone will push this to be match of the year and talk ajout the feud and stuff...
Go back and catch up with the whole story!!! After what these guys did to each other what did you expect, a hand shake and chain wrestle?? That's the great thing about having an alternative to wwe! It was a one and done, it's going to spawn "we want needles". If you don't like it don't watch.
I think everyone has their limits on how much or what kind of violence they'll let pass. For me I don't mind the blood for the most part but there are times when I see the wrestlers facr is a crimson mass and suddenly go I'm not having a good time. Not always but many of Triple H's matches during that rein of terror often times against HBK his face would be crimson and maybe it's a five star, but I wasn't enjoying it. Same with Eddie Guerrero's matches with JBL for the WWE title, when those two started turning the whole ring red I found I just wanted it to end. Everyone is different and my advice would if you have more people not liking it, then pull it back, because if the audience isn't having fun they may not return.
Not my favorite thing and also kinda disturbing at times but sometimes at the same time still enjoyable it’s weird I watch and enjoy it but I also don’t at the same time I respect what they do and put their lives on the line it all depends what mood I’m in sometimes I want hardcore wrestling and sometimes I don’t I don’t think it should be canceled as long as they make sure it’s save enough and gimmicked enough just have age warning and trigger warnings

People should check out CZW if they think AEW was violent for that match.
I am not a big fan of weapons, violence or blood shed either. I am still a HUGE wrestling fan regardless.
Why are you AEW haters here in the first place? Go home and stay away from all of professional wrestling......PERIOD!
Violence doesn't bother me. But when you have goofy dudes doing it just for shock value, it comes across as comical. Still don't see them as "badass", but it is funny nonetheless.
Only people who say it went to far are the PG company fans 😅
I loved the match. It made me wince throughout the first half and was uncomfortable on the whole. But for this particular story with these particular guys, especially Hangman, it was nigh perfecto.
Chairshots to the head was a common use in the past. People didn't see the hell in a cell match between Taker and Mankind, need to watch.
Ever thought about just not watching it?
So You want things to go back to pg13 and more blood in matches, but when you get more mature and violent matches you complain.
Brad says thats not what wrestling is about! Who are you to decide? Opinions are like butt holes, you know? Maybe dont be so soft. You dont like it, dont watch. Have someone else cover AEW due to your sensitivity
I enjoyed the AEW show thought it was crazy.
I did too.
"Who said give me the needle?" - dude would have loved the 80's backstage
Aww is not for kids. WWE is so watered down now.
Everything was all good. Loved how hangman smashed swerve with the chair. And the needle was new I like it
Outlaw Mudshow fan detected
I didn't have a problem with the match I like hardcore wrestling but the needle thing was too much shit was gross.
If you don't like it stop watching TV, Movies and Anime this makes no sense that match was awesome
Brother there are legitimately like 30-40 people on AEW’s roster currently out for injury.
Give me the needle
Jack Perry : Cry me a river
Hangman had a world championship run too, lol. It was as memorable as you forgot.
Waaahhhhhh that fictional violence was too violent!!! waaaahhhhhh
S.A.W.F.T.
Everything is soft now dont people know who Abdula The Butcher is. LoL
In 1980 Jerry Lawler and Terry Funk had an empty arena match. Funk broke out a knife 🤣🤣🤣. These type of violent matches have been in wrestling
The big bossman dragging the casket of an alleged big show dad. lets stop the bullshit
Man i love this feud, these men have changed eachother
It’s wrestling, you know it’s fake right ?😂
@@krismar97This is brand new information
No shit @@krismar97
@@krismar97it’s called a storyline. Mayhaps you’ve heard of it.
I like those type of matches bloody & hard cor wrestling will WWE bring it back on there shows i know im not the only one
Nah never again.. they choose PG
The more these networks give them artistic freedom, the more they will eventually go too far. Even by accident.
I didn't like the needle spot cause it didn't make sense didn't need it for it to be a good match
It’s a violent and very real feeling feud, the match was perfect for the storyline. The hate comes from those who don’t know the story
These guys dont even watch
Daniel bryan vs jungle boy
Swerve vs ethan page
I literally, watch a match between Kurt Angle, Big Show and two jobbers. Kurt shot Big show with a tranquilizer gun, twice in the back. Needle hanging out his back. Then they beat him down and shaved his head. It was on smackdown during the attitude era. Just saying
When I was a kid in 70s the best matches was Dick the Bruiser and Crusher tearing mfs
It just reeks of “Look how edgy we are!”
one of the best PPVs in years
Whats his nickname? Hangman? Needs to be crazy horse
“They went too far”
WWF: Val Vennis gets tied up and gets his friend chopped off by a samurai sword.
I respect Booker's opinion but I don't necessarily agree when it comes to the supposed Shenanigans of tag team matches not being in WWE. I remember the same kind of shenanigans back in the day granted the style in the way they wrestles a little different but it still existed.
It’s wrestling bro this what we want to c💯💯💯💯💯
You sound like Vince russo
@@javaleroseboro6846and u sound like a old cornete brain washed fan 😂
@@HemaJoshi-kv1bv ur absolutely right 😂 but so am i
I have to say even though it's more violent and it's a bit exaggerated the AEW matches. However WWE still used to have brutal matches. I will even say the Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood was brutal. Not on the level that AEW did add double or nothing but it was still brutal.
Neither one of those guys can believably lose to a wrestling move ever again. That’s why I hate it.
Pg wwe has made many too soft
Of course, TK doesn't have kids. Tony Kahn never lost his virginity
Funk Approved
Guys soft nothing compared to WWE Ever done gotta stop giving ur biased reviews.
It was horrible. Disgusting
What worst to see a needle in a man mouth or someone falling off a cage
It was an amazing match
Hell in the cell undertaker vs mankind was far more gruesome people have selective memory. Swerve/hangman is doing amazing work
I wanna say it went too far I've seen MFs get bladed with weed whackers in matches so even though I think it was idiotic, it certainly wasn't t the worst ive seen
Did you want them to lock up?
You know there’s spots I think are “too much” but then I remember Mick Foley.
A man died on WWE pay-per-view and continued the paper view. Stop the hypocritical shit. They for sure continued a show when Mick Foley received CTE by going off a cage twice while concussed.
I wouldn't be surprised by anything that shows up on that show.
The Sheik, Abdullah the Butcher, Terry Funk, Etc….
I’m not seeing the problem
No they didn't go to far
If u want sweet kisses, hugs u can watch WWE.....though most fans watch AEW bcz they don't have scripts n they do creative hard stuffs
All Out was legendary!!
"WE WANT NEEDLES!" lmfao!
😂😂😂😂 Give me The Needle
The match was against two dudes that hate each other and it wasn't supposed to feel comfortable. I think they nailed what they were aiming for.
First off this dude looks like he’s 12
Not my favorite thing and also kinda disturbing at times but sometimes at the same time still enjoyable it’s weird I watch and enjoy it but I also don’t at the same time I respect what they do and put their lives on the line it all depends what mood I’m in sometimes I want hardcore wrestling and sometimes I don’t I don’t think it should be canceled as long as they make sure it’s save enough and gimmicked enough just have age warning and trigger warnings
