Good to see that some ppl still care about the work they do and understand the importance of doing the right thing by their customers. A rare occurrence in today's automotive industry.
Hi Ross Westmore. I couldn't agree with you more. It is a very rare occurrence and that's why when I find a company that stands out from the crowd, I like to show it.
Bloody awesome truck mate! Love that set up! Love the videos keep them coming! I wanna see this beast out on the tracks, I'll be a long time subscriber! Cheers mate great stuff!
Hey Storm Anderson. Cheers buddy, thanks for the compliments. I have a few great trips planned soon which will involve some great tracks so check the channel regularly.
Hey, I'm not sure if you're still running the unichip Q4 or not but have you thought about doing a video of your experience with it over the past 3 years? I'm looking at getting 1 but i would like to hear people's long term experience with them
Thanks buddy. I have still got the. Extreme outback extra heavy duty in there and yes, still have the unichip in there also. I have been very happy with both products.
Fantastic George! I just bought a 3 inch DPF back exhaust system. It should give me 8KW and about 26nM of torque. I won't touch the factory tune as yet. The 3 inch system sounds good and it should lower my EGT's a bit. I know this video is 2 years old now....how have you found your unichip? Cheers.
Well done Jim. That will sound really nice. I would highly recommend the unichip. I haven’t had a problem with it so far and it does everything it is meant to do. Also still love the power gains I got from it. Go see the boys at Dynomotive when you’re ready and tell them I sent you. You won’t regret it.
Hi George great clip and overview.... and good guys by the sounds... i have seen another tuner promoting NPC HD Clutches and flywheel combo's, have you looked at that and if so what are your thoughts... ideally i guess, i seeing your clip, in terms of sequencing i am guessing the HD clutch should go in first right? I am glad i saw this because whilst i heard a new clutch is needed with these fitups it is good to see it first hand... cheers
Hi Mike Sherwood. The boys at dynomotive have been fantastic to deal with. I have heard and researched the npc clutch, but I didn't like something I read about them a little while ago. You will need a new clutch as soon as you decide to do anything to gain more power. The original clutch won't hold as soon as you get any gain over the factory power. Also, the clutch that was in the truck at this stage was actually a HD clutch and again it started slipping when we got the massive power gains from the unichip. You will see in a future video which clutch I am now running.
Great video George, very thorough and comprehensive. Was already thinking on taking my 76 to Dynomotive. since I'm in the eastern suburbs already. After watching this I know now what to expect. Just a couple of questions: Where are you planning to fit the HD clutch and what clutch will you be getting? Please make a video of this too. It will show us the whole picture and no-one has done a video of this before. 2. Is the intake and valve cleaning separate to the unichip install?
Hey Venom2007s. Thanks buddy. They really know what they are doing. Ask for Paul and tell them I sent you down. I am doing my research on what clutches are available and what information I can find out about them, but at the moment I am leaning towards an xtreme outback extra heavy duty clutch kit. This kit wasn't available when I bought their heavy duty clutch. When I have decided, I will make another video of the process. If your truck has more than 40k on the clock, it is all part of the service, but please feel free to chat to Paul about it. Cheers
Hi samuelstylin. I did my research before changing my chip. My thoughts were that the safari armax is more of a comparison with the steinbauer rather than the unichip. The armax claimed to give you slightly higher output figures than the steinbauer but the steinbauer has been tested and proven more. Both of these chips are a generic tune which means they need to be ultra conservative as to be effective on every car they go into. The unichip puts YOUR car on the dyno and gets it tuned specifically for YOUR car. I believe this is the best way to achieve the best results.
Thanks George. That is my one concern with the Safari Armax ECU. It's been tuned to various vehicle types, but I have a custom exhaust and snorkel, which I thought would have an impact to the tune required for my vehicle. The Safari model seems a slightly higher build quality. It also costs more and is untested in the market as yet. Anyone else know any other differences between the two?
Hey Steven Burger. Thanks buddy. The unichip Q4 is worth $2k-$3k depending on vehicle type. When you have the unichip installed, the vehicle needs to be put on the dyno and tuned in real time.
Hey buddy. I would highly recommend it. I haven’t had any issues with mine and I have tested it in all situations. It gained a lot of power and torque and still drives beautifully. Just make sure you do your research on the installers as that makes a difference. I have recently heard of one of my subs that’s having a few issues with his and after talking to the boys at Dynomotive hopefully they have helped him out as it wasn’t installed properly. Let me know how you go. Cheers
Thanks for the reply George. My vehicle is going into PDP in Perth for all it’s work, they have a very good reputation for knowledge, attention to detail and workmanship quality. Keep up the great videos👍🏽 subbed.
Great to hear buddy. I have spoken and bought things off them also. They seem like a great bunch of guys who know cruisers. Keep me posted how you go. Thanks for subbing 👍
Warranty was gone as soon as it left the dealership lol. I had most modifications done before it even was registered so when I picked it up from Toyota it was modified. Now if anything happened, they would blame it on something else any way. Plus, it’s a Toyota, they don’t need warranty lol.
Hi Joe. I agree that it will shorten the life, but depending on the person that tunes the 4wd, I’d done properly, it won’t shorten it by a lot. I am happy to sacrifice a little bit of life to gain a lot more driveability and power.
I like to watch your videos, they are good, but sound is very bad. Dont get me wrong. :) If you fix sound in future videos, you will have one more subscriber :). ps my English is not very good, but...hope you understand. All the best.
Hi milja86milja86. I am actually looking into more camera gear and new microphone setups at the moment so in the future the sound will be better but not for at least the next few videos. Cheers

What's your long-term review on the unichip? Had any issues with it, I'm looking to get one for my 79.

Hi mate, nice vid. What clutch did you end up going with and did you stick with unichip product?
Thanks buddy. I have still got the. Extreme outback extra heavy duty in there and yes, still have the unichip in there also. I have been very happy with both products.

Is this sold and supported in California?

I'm tossing up between a Unichip Q4 and Safari Armax. Anyone done their research and compared the two?

samuelstylin I’m thinking about getting an Armax ECU myself did you end up getting one?
What are the seats in your landcruiser? They look really good.
Hey RJC17. They are the standard seats with the neoprene seat covers. They are fantastic!!
Hi Uncaged Expeditions, Yes I'm going to get myself a pair because they look 10 times better than the standard ones. Cheers, RJC17
If don't mind me asking mate but roughy what is a uni chip q4 with map select worth? and can you install it yourself? Great content btw.
Hey Steven Burger. Thanks buddy. The unichip Q4 is worth $2k-$3k depending on vehicle type. When you have the unichip installed, the vehicle needs to be put on the dyno and tuned in real time.
Alright thanks for that
Hi uncaged expeditions, love your videos, cant wait for your channel to grow, i hope you don't mind asking but what do you do for a day job?
Hi Luke miles. Thanks buddy, love making these videos. Glad you are enjoying them. I work in the seafood industry.
Uncaged Expeditions thanks mate.
You're welcome buddy.
Hi George, great video. I’m looking at getting the same system on my new 2018 VX 200 series. What’s your thoughts after using it for a while now?
Hey buddy. I would highly recommend it. I haven’t had any issues with mine and I have tested it in all situations. It gained a lot of power and torque and still drives beautifully. What's cost of uni chip for your 79.
is Unichip software locked for dealers only ?
Hi USA4thewin. I believe it is, that's why I have the 5 selector switch to change between tunes.

Goodbye warranty

As you say,

If you add a chip to increase power on your V8...you will shorten the life span of your engine.
Hi Joe. I agree that it will shorten the life, but depending on the person that tunes the 4wd, I’d done properly, it won’t shorten it by a lot. I am happy to sacrifice a little bit of life to gain a lot more driveability and power.

Thats one noisy cabin...
Hey Juan David Escobar. It is a little noisy but it’s not designed to be quiet. It’s more like a truck than a car but that is why I love it. Cheers
