- The Jumbo 76mm in War Thunder is an absolute monster! At least... it used to be! Where most heavy tanks at this battle rating such as the IS-2 and the Tiger II can rely on their armour AND their firepower, the Jumbo still has the same little 76mm cannon that's found in the M10 tank destroyer at 3.3!
Today, I wanted to find out just how bad it is! :)
The M4A3E2 76 W is a pretty iconic vehicle, I hope it's still good for my sake. At least I don't need to fight BMP-1's and Marders with ATGM's as well as IS-6 and Ho-Ri Prototypes. Right? RIGHT?

Thank you for being the only CC to say the jumbo 76 is overtiered. All the other CCs are like oh we rack up kills with it (forgetting they're better than the majority of players) so it must be balanced. Oxy had the worse take ever in his vids saying the reactionary factor for it's armor makes it 6.3 material(which there is none since pretty much every cannon past 6.3 lol pens it but hey he sold out quite obviously) which is the same thing we've said bout the Panthers. I've died so many times to panthers cause I have to line up specific weak spots while they lol pen.

I would not disagree except the L3 can be exceedingly difficult to get kills while using. I would agree with Locust, Tetrarch, or, my favourite for such a challenge, the Squeezy Boi.

The 3.7 RAM tank in the US Premium side might be fun with that decoration. Its armor is weird and trolly and covering it up might make that much worse.
Ram II is so good in a downtier. I love just driving zig zag at people and bouncing a dozen shots. 6pdr just shreds everything you can see too, even without HE filler.

I think 6.0 was a good middle ground. If the Jagdpanther can be 6.0, then the Jumbo can be 6.0.
the problem that gaijin refuses to acknowledge is that the average 76 jumbo player is 10x better than the average Jagdpanther player, and the problem has only gotten worse now that only people who really like the jumbo are playing it at 6.3.

They moved it to 6.3 because of me I guess xD I had lot of games with over 20 kills with it so they problably check logs and recon hmm, that tonk must be OP lets nerf it xD I never played Jumbo after BR change, its much more pain than fun now. I played Bigel after that change so they moved Bigel to 9.3, now I play AGS so they will change it to 11.0 soon xD
Take the stabilizer and the Jumbo can be at 5.7 , this Stab is a huge advantage .

The thing is, the jumbo has a stabilizer and that's the only thing that makes it good, it's gun is mediocre. It's armour is very easy to deal with if you have more than 2 working braincells, it's mobility is about on par with a Panther A which has better armour and a better gun.
@@Gary_The_Metro As I said , take the stab from the Jumbo and put it at 5.7 . It's at 6.3 cause of the stabilizer , gun barrel shooting on the move . Most maps in WT are close combat , with Panther's you can't drive and shoot . That's just a luck shot .

the jumbo 76 still works, although i only take it out in downtiers where if played smart can become a beast of a tank even at 6.3 and for some reason 6.3 gets downtiered all the time, but it doesnt belong at 6.3 with the tiger 2 p and is2 1944, but its still fun

@@antonklein4339 im actually serious because great guns and armor dont matter when you're uptiered, and the jumbo has soft factors that make it more meta.
its smaller, faster, has a stabalizer, has the reload advantage, has a faster turret, and most maps in the game are urban brawlers not long range sniper maps.
(and by faster, i mean its more nimble. it accelerates and pivots better than the other two, and as such it gets around the maps quicker; outside of downhill straight line drag races)
is the tiger 2 better in a full downtier? maybe, but have you noticed how they never get downtiers? jumbos get them every other battle. tiger2's get a downtier maybe once in every 10 hours of play.

I have zero idea why they thought this thing needed to be at 6.3 lmao. They keep upping U.S vehicles and downtiering German ones. This thing needs to be at 5.7
and what do you propose the 75mm one's BR is? it was 5.7 maybe a couple of years ago and the 75mm was at 4.7 and it was so ridiculously strong..

Slightly off topic: There needs to be a better filter for customization. Like a section for "customizations I own" vs just the blob of everything that is hard to filter through. IMHO.
I love this. It’s been suggested but apparently it’s too much work.
The worst part about 6.3-7.0 is the uptier is constant, and it's far harder as the jump in technology just flattens most tanks at that BR in every field.

If the penetration was corrected back to the 127mm I think it could warrant being dropped down to 5.7-6.0. I love the US tech tree, and the changes to the short 75mm were closer to accurate, but the 76mm got way to much penetration with the update to penetration calculation years ago.

@@curtsauce3947 It isn't rediculous to say in the slightest, the 76mm M1 was a stopgap gun between the short 75 and the 90mm. Even the crews hated the thing. It didnt have the HE effect the short 75mm did for anti-infantry and for tanks where the 75mm couldnt penetrate them, it still couldn't penetrate.
@@corrodan2995 The point is that from a balancing perspective, other nations get medium/heavy tanks with thicker armour and over 200mm of pen, but U.S. doesn't even have tank destroyers that can do that. The closest we get is the m41 shooting a crappy little apds that germany gets a better version of anyway.

@@curtsauce3947 If that is the correct performance then yes. Even at the 127mm it would still be adequate enough. Every nation has its weakspots, around this BR for the US it would be innadequate to alright guns. This is made up for by most of the US vehicles having short stabilizers. But at the BR the gun is comparable in penetration to all other guns it is introduced with. If the penetration was reduced, things like the jumbo 76 would go down, and perform overall better.

The 76 jumbo is my favorite and best tank in the game, and even at 6.3 I sill do just fine, but I think it needs to go back to 6.0

The only ATGMs America gets, are shitty gun launcher ATGMs at 8.0
M113 APC's with TOW missiles never get added to the American lineup apparently. The only one that does, ends up being a premium basically.
The allouete also used to be the same BR as the AH1Z, despite having ATGMs while the AH only had mighty mouses.
The leopard is faster, has the same gun as the M60, more stable, lower profile, and litterally better in every way to the M60, but the Leopard used to sit at 7.0 (now 7.3), while the M60 sits at 7.7 (often uptiered to 8.7). The m60 armour is also improperly modelled while the Leopards isnt.
The german M48 used to also be at a lower BR than the American M48, even though the German one was straight up superior.
German mains get coddeled by gaijjin and play like litteral toddlers, only to be rewarded for it.

I'm currently in the Jumbo 76 and it is goddamn hilarious at how the heck does the wise minds at Gaijin think that this tank is somehow equivalent to the menacing King Tigers or IS-2??
I mean, look at the jumbo, and look at the KT or IS-2! It looks so tame and non-menacing compared to those 2 famous heavies.
I have some success at the Jumbo 76, but i really have to change my mindset. The Jumbo is not a heavy tank, it's a fat medium. I flank, i back off from frontal engagement like a pussi, basically i play it like a normal Sherman.
It's not even a fat sherman lol, it's just a sherman with the correct amount of mobility. As gaijin loves to do they nerfed the shit out of the shermans, they currently have less mobility than the panther A and are about comparable to the panther D G and F, only the jumbos still have their original mobility. And when I say mobility I don't mean max speed, I mean their actual mobility such as power to weight ratio. And of course, the m4a3 having had it's turret speed nerfed into the ground, nowadays you're better off playing 5.3 if you want to play the US, or going straight to 6.0 unless you really love the m18. 5.7 is just a bad BR right now.

so am i just bad or the protection analysis on the jumbo while facing any Panther is bugged...? It says that from 500m the long88 should pen it frontally anywhere, even the mantlet can be penned but i've never managed to do it... Also i constantly face jumbos because i'm always uptiered as Germany lmao
The long 75 cannot reliably penetrate the Jumbo upper plate, not sure why Oddbawz said that like it was an easy giving fact.
The Panther can only pen it if is closer than 500 meters and isn't angled at all.
Only the long 88 can reliably go through the Jumbo ufp.
Put the decoration on the zis-30.
I love the 6.3 lineup that the US has. And i'd rather fight leo's and other lighter tanks. They rarely got a stab, and i still got mine. And i have APHE that can still oneshot reliably

Average German bias supporter. It’s a fact that the tiger 2h is suffering. Look at it, can’t even pen a jumbo upper front plate from 5km away. How are we supposed to cope with that? It should really be 5.0max. And I’m not even going to start talking about the Panther which is facing tanks instead of battle ships, that’s a direct insult to history.
I really like the 76 Jumbo honestly. It's better armored than the Panther and T-44 and since it has decent mobility the gun is good enough to get the job done if you know how to use it.

Hey i have a idea for a challenge video. I think it would be interesting to see you play with a Controller 😂
If you know how to play it, it's more than good. It gives overconfident players with their "big guns" a run for their money. It even does well against Tiger II's. Barrel first, then tracks and you have a harmless kitten.
So just for anyone who missed that, Oddbawz didn't hit that plane directly with his main shell. He actually hit the BOMB it dropped with the main shell, detonating it midair and killing the plane in the process from the blast. Neat little detail there. 25:10 is roughly when it happens.
Put this decoration on asu-57 and try too not get killed and get five kills.

What's that you always say to german mains whenever they complain about getting front penned in their tigers? Angle! Angle your jumbo and stop crying about having to put two more braincells into using your armor effectively.
For the Jumbo it would be use your goddamn stabiliser to disable the enemy while the enemy's gun is still stabilising! And the Jumbo's armour is already angled for them so they don't need to really angle making it easier for Jumbo's.
I would imagine even the fuel trucks would be "good" with Odd driving.

its armor can bounce tiger 2's, as demonstrated in the first game.
its gun is just capable enough to get the job done shooting weakspots larger than the one you yourself have.
it accelerates and maintains its top speed better than any other conventional heavy tank.
it has a stabilizer that always lets you shoot first if you stumble into an enemy whos also not sitting still. this stab also lets you shoot whilst retreating back into cover, so it has an edge brawling over all its competition.
ya just get youtubers who only consider hard factors though, and go "its trash only reason its there is german mains"
and another soft factor people dont consider is that jumbo's get far more downtiers than tiger 2p's. like a LOT more downtiers.
it only bounces a shot from a long 88 if the person using the gun has no idea what they're doing and saying that its gun is good enough because it can disable barrels, tracks ect is like saying the 75 jumbo could go to 6.3 cause it can break a barrel or a track.

The reason the sherman is 6.0/6.3 is solely because of the stabilizer, It makes your aim snap into place instead of wobbling around as you come to a full stop and let your enemy aim at you, Germans dont have stabilizers which makes it extremely hard to snapshot someone. which affects even high ranking players, there's a reason why the sherman WNR is so high and why you seem to be having good games in it.
What good is the stabiliser if your cannon is a potato launcher against the thick armor of a German tank?
Meanwhile German mains do not have to play Surgeon Simulator with weak spots and can mostly point and click to get kills.
And yes, I've tried both German and US tanks and would say that Germany is wayy easier, except for the braindead teammates.
@@M8M8ss in the literal start of the game the stabilizer shows it's purpose, sure German tanks are easier to play but your performance in them still is low compared to their American counterpart, the only tanks I would agree are OP in the German tree are the tiger IIs and the jagdpanther.

There's a great lack of APHE except for the tank destroyers which do not possess stabilisers.
Meanwhile German tanks constantly get stock APHE rounds which have excellent penetration capabilities and can consistently one-shot a tank, unlike solid shot rounds.
Sure, shermans get APHE, but it doesn't come stock and is not as powerful as that of the panzer 4s.

The Jumbo is a struggle bus. A stop gap sherman with half an inch of extra armor, is equal to or superior to a Tiger 2 H, and can take on a leopard. "Balance".

Jumbo is another victim of BR compression. In a downtier it is still quite good, but not good in an uptier.
I use a Jerry can to cover the real port and a helmet to make a fake MG port slightly above the real one
you should play the conqueror heavy tank, I mostly play it because the Maus can only pen u in one spot and its funny to bully them

No, because Gaijin rigs the game. Just a few minutes ago, my Jumbo Sherman could not pen a lightly armored M24 (3 consecutive hits) at point blank range WTF! Next game, I killed a heavily armored KV1 from across the screen at a long distance. Total BS.
you should add the shield decoration with the elephant on it directly on the elephant tank with some other customs

Come on guys, you all know in your heart this thing would be fine at 5.7 or 6.0. Panthers, T-34s, 17pdrs, Tigers I & II and all the other HEAT and APDS bois from 4.7-7.0 can absolutely deal with the Jumbo from the front. You know in your heart that Gaujibbles only does this to nerf line-ups that are effective for grinding. They always break up line-ups that are effective, but not overpowered. They want you grinding as slowly as possible even if it means making the player experience shite.
Imo if they made APHE realistic, a lot of vehicles like the Jumbo 76 could go down in BR.
Right now anything with more then 50g TNT can basically kill all crew of an enemy anywhere you hit.
Completely redundant firing APHE with 500g+ as it doesn’t make the enemy more dead exactly.
Basically if they fixed the APHE forward cone like it was supposed to it would help a lot.
But also would nerf gajobs fav nation (USSR) and their crutch ammo would not be as good.

Dp you think it's time for gijin to add a WW mode with only historical WW2 vehicles even if it's only tanks because it's just ridiculous what we have to face with these new vehicles with heat APDS,HEATFS,ATGM's,laser guided missiles,etc. We can only hope and dream right and a tank only mode aswell.
