  • Hi Everyone,
It's Christos here, aka, THE FRAG!
Today, I review my latest acquisition, the beautiful Fender, Made In Japan, Hybrid II, Precision Bass.
I provide this review having purchased the bass with my hard earned CREDIT CARD! It is not gifted nor loaned. This baby is mine!!! And hence, my review is unbiased, fair and factual.
Please, hit like, subscribe, and exchange comments with respect and dignity.
I forgot mention two points in the video. Firstly, in part one on specifications, this model comes in an array of colours:
    Modena Red
Forest Blue (the bass I bought)
    Olympic White
    Black
    3-Colour Sunburst
    Natural
And contingent on the colour scheme, some will either come with a rosewood and/or maple fretboard and either a tortoise shell or, a white scratch plate/pickguard.
Secondly, I also forgot to add, in part four, post-purchase customisations, that I will be upgrading the bridge, to either to a Gotoh 201 or, a Hipshot Kickass.
Thank you all for making my channel what it is. I could not have done it without you.
Take care, and God Bless you all.

Thank you very much for your considered review. I have recently been fortunate enough to receive a Fender MIJ Hybrid 2 Strat. The build quality is really amazing and it’s certainly far exceeded my original expectations! The neck is an absolutely beautiful, ‘one-piece’ maple and I’m delighted to report that to me, it feels just as smooth as the neck on the Ultra! I’d love to own one of these Precision Bass models one day, so I better start saving! Cheers 🍻

Another great review. What do you know about the sustain block under the bridge? Have you ever removed the bridge to take a look? Doesn't seem to be much info online. Thanks & keep up the good work.

Hi Kyle, Thank you for your kind words. The sustain block sits right under the bridge in a cavity carved into the body. Of the five bridge screws, the middle one is a small and short screw that secures the sustain block to the bridge. The two screws either side of the middle screw go through the sustain block and into the body of the bass. And the two most farthest bridge screws either side of the middle screw go straight into the body. The sustain block is brass and is a little less narrower than the base of the vintage bridge. I removed the bridge when I fitted a Hi-Mass bridge and saw it. Hope this helps.

@@christosfragias592 Good info. Thanks. Do you think the design is "built to last" regarding the connections, wood and design? Any concern that after 10-15 years---the design will hold up? Thanks!!

Thanks for the review Christos. A wealth of good information really useful to those starting out, or for those who are not inclined to research. Great job. The piece that struck me as a really useful reminder was the use of metric. (Crazy that NASA uses metric for all of its endeavours, yet the US' industry is reluctant to adopt...).
    Anyway, thanks again.
Ad an ex-Sydneysider, it would been nice to see the magpie and black and white on your eall instead of what you have... so I can only give you a 98% score. 😊 Cheers.

      Hey Ross,
Thank you for your kind words, and it is indeed my pleasure. I'm glad you got good insights from my video, and I understand your point on metric measurements. Sorry, but I can only support the Rabbitohs. South Sydney Till I Die. 🐇❤️💚 Keep ROCKING! 🤘🎸🎸🤘

That's a very nice P bass. I tried a red one of these a few weeks ago and it sounded and felt wonderful. Funny thing is I thought the two raised pole pieces were a defect. Even the sales guy in the store thought it was strange. Now I know it's supposed to be a feature.....LOL.

I have the jazz bass one and the poles height also gave me a panic since I bought that one used on Ishibashi.

So, how does the Japan bass compare to the Mexican?
I'm thinking about to get the same bass with maple fretboard, but doesn't know if it's worth the money.
I just played a Japan Jazz and the built quality was amazing.
But it was a Jazz and i only play P's.

Hey P M, thank you for your comment. The MiJ basses are noticeably better quality, feel and playability compared to the MiM Player Series. I think it is worth the extra funds, if you have budget for it, of course. The quality of the woods and components, fit and finish place it, in my honest opinion, up there with the Fender USA basses. I personally play both, as I like the grunt of the P Bass, while the added masses of the J Bass, feels nice to hold and play. Keep ROCKING. 🎸🤘🎸🤘

      @@christosfragias592 Nice!
Well i have my problems with J basses cutting through the mix.
With a P i just have to eq the mids and treble a little bit and here we go.
But with the J i always find myself frickling on the potis go find a good sound.
In my opinion a J lacks the mids which are very important for bass players to get heard in a mix.
I want to have the same volume level than the other band members but want to get noticed.
With the J i always have to increase the volume.

@@christosfragias592 I got one imported from Japan!
      Also in Forest Blue.
But with maple neck and white pickguard.
Actually they didn't glue a maple fretboard on the maple neck how it's mostly done nowdays.
Instead it's one big maple neck.
      I love it!
I always wanted to have a real one piece maple neck.
I put my favourite flatwounds on it.
      Stunning instrument.
Very well constructed with impeccable fretwork and top notch pickups.
      I'm very happy with it.
It has a pretty chunky neck that i love.
      I'm a big tall guy.
So, a wide thick neck suits me the best.
Don't spend money on a MIA Fender.
      Instead get a MIJ Fender.
Even with import taxes and custom fee it's way cheaper than a MIA
