Agreed. I just got the (US Available) MIJ Aerodyne Special Jazz and it is incredible. I've had Squiers, MIMs, currently 2 other MIAs, and boutique Jazzes. This Aerodyne Special is far and away my favorite J. Build, finish, feel, electronics... everything is just perfect for me. I'm currently looking to sell some older basses and sniff out more MIJ goodness!
I got a MIJ pbass recently and it’s perfect. I played a USA American Performer at my local shop and while nice didn’t feel as put together as the MIJ. I was nervous but may import one from Japan to the states. Just co corned about damage while shipping.
ESP E-II and Edwards basses destroy Performer and Professional II series. I did a side-by-side comparison. US Fender bassses felt like Squier in comparison. Really shattered by beliefs.
Why do bass videos when you dedicate less than 1% of your store to them? Please give basses some more space in your store rather than putting them in two broom closets in a forgotten corner.
Perhaps more than 99% of their sales are online and therefore, still worth doing the videos. My cousin bought a bass there a few months ago. They were more than happy to bring out any basses from the warehouse for us to try out. We tried about 6 or 7.
This duo is tops, Lee is the best there is an the Queen brings that it factor. She has stage presence like we wish we all had. She plays a lot of cords and harmonics but can also hold down the bottom in a trio. I would like to see and hear Nathan abuse a bass or two, miss him.
Been playing and dealing in guitars and basses since 1972. Owned and played everything. In my opinion Fender Japan (Fuji Gen) make very special guitars/basses. There is something indefinably..."Just Right" about them.
I've got an E serial Japanese P bass which I bought new in 1987 & JV Squier Jazz bass from 1983, which I imported 2nd hand from Japan. Both absolute bargains & becoming quiet collectable now. I wouldn't swap them for Fender custom shop basses.
These are awesome I can't wait to buy, what's that? Oh, the US is isn't getting them. And your making another American series that costs to much. And the MIM basses still don't have rosewood fingerboards. Well I guess I won't be buying any Fender products then. At least not directly, to reverb.
Do my eyes deceive me or did they make a traditional bass with an appropriate amount of frets (21)? If so, those are on my list - I’d prefer to get one stock instead of having to buy a neck from Warmoth - who make great necks, but you know…modified.
Been jonesing for a Hybrid II Jazz V for the longest time, being that they are very hard to come by in the States. The red finish I’ve seen looks SO sleek!
So why did you guys decide to raid Ritchie Blackmore's hat stash? When asked about Ritchie Blackmore, Lemmy once commented 'Great guitarist, tragic taste in hats!'
THE MYSTERY OF THE SUSTAIN BLOCK IS REVEALED!!! Firstly, great review. I own a Hybrid II MIJ Precision bass, in Forest Blue, and love it! OK, I can confirm the sustain block is positioned directly under the bridge in a routed cavity. The top of the sustain block rests flush with the surface of the body. It is slightly narrower than the width of the base of the bridge. This is where it gets interesting. Of the five screws that secure the bridge to the body, the middle screw, (screw 3, looking left to right,) is actually a very small and short screw that secures the bridge to the sustain block, with the ground wire tightly set between the bridge and sustain block. So screw 3 makes NO contact with the body! The two most outer screws (screws 1 and 5, looking left to right,) screw straight into the bass through the bridge. However bridge screws 2 and 4, screw through the sustain block and into the body. Just be mindful, there is very little wood between the holes of screws 1 and 5 and the cavity wall of the sustain block. Remember, as the sustain block is only slightly narrower than the base width of the bridge. So take care not to over tighten screws 1 and 5, otherwise, you may crack this thin space of wood. I trust this clarifies.
@panych3198 it does add sustain. Equally, if you replace the standard bent steel bridge with a HiMass bridge, that too, will add more sustain. Personally, I would forgo the sustainer brass plate for a HiMass bridge.
Another example of Fender putting a different name on the same old product. Next year it'll be the new "Vodern" series. 2024 will see the new "Oldie-But-Modern-Too" series, followed by the "Vodern II" series.
Will someone please Photoshop the name Chelsea on Lee's arm in old English lettering? For laughs...those who get it will have a great laugh with that one. My guess is Pete will be the first to have the "oh that's really f***ed up" moment.
As a bass player for nearly 40yrs. Guys. Just don't be taken in by this fender japan.mexico .player. I have a number of fender jazz bass special 1986.. American pro 1 jazz.bass And a player series p bass all awesome basses in their own rights. But. Tone is in you not the bass ! Sick of fenders new basses coming out and really be honest is their really a difference in USA,Mexican ,Japan I think not much. But when ya young your so eager to get the latest love the bass you have 👍
Fender MIJ stuff are just a cut above even their US made line, and I will die on this hill.

Fender really pushing the boat out here. Another jazz and P.
10s in and I'm like 'ah Japanese player plus bs'
Thank God it's a modern C neck
Ooh a 'sustain block'
Yeah should be 21 standard
Nothing wrong with that. Sells well and works good for them. Smh.
MIJs are solid instruments.

😢
I agree with this too
Perhaps more than 99% of their sales are online and therefore, still worth doing the videos. My cousin bought a bass there a few months ago. They were more than happy to bring out any basses from the warehouse for us to try out. We tried about 6 or 7.
Imagine not realizing this is how they market to the rest of the planet. Lmao
This is not Fender Japan. This is Fender made in Japan. Fender Japan was an another company and it doesn’t exist anymore.
I’m angry with Fender Japan. I’ve wanted a short scale Jazz bass forever, and when they finally make one it’s Japan exclusive.
Is Nathan ever coming back?
I agree the man adds that something and has the chops. Dust him off and bring him bach.
I own the P in forest blue.
Outstanding craftmanship.
Way better than MIA
I own the same Forest Blue P bass and can't get enough of it.

FINALLY 21 Frets!!! (I Guess that's where the "Modern" comes from, LOL!)
I love the Fender Japan basses. 21 frets is awesome, too.
5:20 Jaco Pastorius in the house! Great playing & also amazing sound from Fender. They never dissappoint 😌
Thanks for sharing 👍

Love how Cici plays bass like a bass player. Epic (without all the solo noodling).
You two really groove, that outro reminded me of Stanley Clarke, superb!
Great jam guys! Cici you are so kick a$$ 😁 Lee you are amazing!! Cici that black P is soo you!!

Now maybe it's a tall skinny bloke thing, but between Lee and Dave (Simpson) poor ol' Cici can hardly get a word in!
Cici is the bomb, keep bringing her back!
I'll take one of each, thanks..
You guys are awesome
Nice, I have a ibonez 4 string, that sounds great!!👍yours, I meant
£1300 is too close to US pricing.
'this or a used Spector euro 5?'
Fender takes a millimeter off the neck and calls it a new profile.
MIJ? say...no ..more! These are awesome! I love MIJ Fenders!

cc you rock loved this ,,be well and rock on

Cool hats 🎩
I wonder how long before Fender or some other major Guitar builder goes Bankrupt? Inevitable these days.
Gibson restructured last year. Fender are huge and could shrink
@@PorchBass Fender have already laid off over 300 staff in California earlier this year . They are losing $ hand over fist.
@@EnglishVeteran aaah! Thanks
Cici 🤘🤘🤘
i love this bass jams
Love the bass vids - cheers !
What‘s a „sustain block“ in a solidbody instrument?
That Jbass is probably the same body as thhe american performer. The neck is sick and feels soo good
💙👊😎💙👊😎
P should have been In white
No
So why did you guys decide to raid Ritchie Blackmore's hat stash?
When asked about Ritchie Blackmore, Lemmy once commented 'Great guitarist, tragic taste in hats!'
I already have a custom built J bass which I love but I heard the intro and want a Fender J bass again. Lee's playing is mad.
Wearing the hat in the intro, Lee looks like he should be cast in a 90s teen movie set in Midwest USA suburbia 😂
Great video and playing. Has nathan left ?

Huh I never noticed that when I took out the bridge on my Hybrid II Jazz Bass Olympic White. Can I have pictures to know what I'm looking for?
Thanks for information re the sustain block. How does it work? Does it enhance the sustain of a bass?
@panych3198 it does add sustain. Equally, if you replace the standard bent steel bridge with a HiMass bridge, that too, will add more sustain.
Personally, I would forgo the sustainer brass plate for a HiMass bridge.
Why does this look like "The Hobbit"?
Free hats with the purchase of a bass???
I'm the first brotha!
I can’t even find these on Fender’s website? Which is too bad, they look so cool!
What material are the threads out of?
Супер ! І навіщо ті противнючі соло гітари !..🙂
2:25 That's what she said
Thost thing are huge
Need a high mass bridge
I have a MIA jazz and a MIJ jazz. I prefer the MIJ, better tone, build and overall quality. I’m looking for another MIJ jazz and sell the MIA jazz.
what is her youtube?

yup I need to buy both and switch the necks . Love a J bass but have big Chunky hands . I need that big neck ! So rare now ,Love it .

These just sound like farts.
