- Data loss is terrible.
Imaging losing everything you build up over your lifetime, all videos, all photos, documents, poems, music all gone...
What would you be willing to pay to get it all back?
Luckily you can do a lot to prevent this from ever happening. In today's tip we take a look at how to build a proper backup strategy, which drives to use, and how to set it up.

Hi Frank, very informative video, could you clarify one area for me, for Lightroom use, are you proposing that all images are on a standalone drive which is then backed off to the NAS (if so any recommendations on how), or should Lightroom access the files directly on the NAS (not according to the video), or should Lightroom work from Smart Previews stored with the catalogue which Lightroom then syncs back to the NAS? This is very timely for me as currently I edit directly from the NAS and no, its not the fastest way to work…...
The library should be on a very fast ssd
The folders and photos are on the Nas.
In essence this means you only really use the Nas when opening a photo. Even small adjustments are often done on the smart previews.
It's important to split the library from the photos.
Is there a working Linux based system? I mean all Linux both client and the NAS. I don't want to use Windows, Mac or ChromeOS in any way.
No idea. Best it to check on the synology website.
I don't have any experience with Linux because there is simply put no software i can use for what I need.
