I just wanted to comment and say thank you for making this content. I went from casually watching you to now watching every video you drop and you’re becoming one of my favorite UA-camrs to watch. I like all the car and truck channels that do crazy builds in one or two videos but I think it hits home much better to watch someone work on their personal vehicles and create a transformation that really means something, it feels much more personal even to the viewer, so again thank you and keep up the good work :)
Definitely some good speakers that can be used when upgrading your system. I put those in a 2003 Silverado, and the sound quality definitely improved. Infinity speakers are known for good mids and highs. If I’m not mistaken, I think those speakers come with the adapter to fit GM style clips like your OEM speakers, you just need to cut off some tabs. If it doesn’t I highly recommend getting them to fill the hole thats left between the door and speaker, so you don’t lose audio signal out of that hole. That foam is used to put on the back of the speaker, so when you butt it up against plastic or metal, it doesn’t rattle as much. I would also either buy “fastrings” or get foam and out it around the outside of the front of the speaker and cut it down to size to fit the gap between the speaker and the door to increase audio signal.
I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe, and I just had to bypass my factory Bose amp, due to my Main sound stopped working with my new head unit. All I did was disconnect both Bose amp connectors, and matched up all 8 output speaker wires, got sound back, and it sound so much better without that Bose amp. ran speaker wires straight from the head unit to the Bose amp main harness. Easy fix! That Bose amp restricts low pass sound, causing clipping and distortion. Nice door speakers and install video.
This video made me order the same exact speakers! I have absolutely 0 regrets and I’ve been buying from Crutchfield for years!!! They’re cheap, ship fast, and always willing to help!!
Speakers are pretty good for being just a little upgrade from the stock Bose speakers. My dad’s Chevy has the Bose speakers in a ‘17 2500 they have a lot of bass but considering Chomper is 14 or 15 years old those speakers needed an upgrade anyways
sounds good! I have all stock bose speakers in my 06 Yukon, except I put infinitys on my rear doors. I'd go back and dremel flat the ridges on the rear doors or file them down. If you Dynomat the doors it will sound better. I also did the Y91 Lux Bose amp upgrade along with the LUX touch screen radio. The stock Nav touch screen radio sounds much better and sends a cleaner signal to the bose amp.
It looks amazing! You did an amazing job. The only thing I’d recommend is if you’re noticing vibration and distortion at high volumes get yourself a foam speaker kit (comes with 3 rings) I did that when I bought infinity kappa series for my 18 Elantra value edition and midrange bass improved 10 fold and no vibrations at all.
I had a 2002 Sierra SLT crew cab, and I did the same infinity series, but the step up to the Kappa's......: 6.5" components for the front and the 4x6" in the rear door. 75w x4 and 300w x1 Kenwood 5 ch amp with 2-8" old school Bazooka passive tubes under the rear bench seat !! From factory to that setup, it was impressive!!!!!!!! 😊
Sorry I'm pretty late, for the amp for the door speakers, where does it go? And how do you set it up? I plan on replacing all 4 doors speakers on an extended cab, and also put 2 10" subs in it. Thank you for your time.
@@rxst.R6 you may be able to use a micro 4 ch and 1ch monoblock amplifier, under the front seats to power all the doors and 2-10" subs in a ported underseat enclosure. 😊
@walterhicksiii3525 appreciate it. I think I'm just going to pay to have it done because the whole process for everything is complicated. Possible but I'm just going to spare the headache
Oh nooooo!! You can use 1 - 5ch amp to do the entire system!! Its not hard to do this install. I had the same truck and speakers the amp can fit under 1 of the seats . Look up Audio Dynmanics SD2400.5 5 ch amplifier it will give you more power than you need for now and for later "upgrades " in a very small package! 😊
Noticed your door panels are starting to fade me and my buddy painted his with vinyl paint from o riellys and matched up super well to his factory tan. Would like to see a video of you doing it to yours
That has a amp stock because it has the Bose system. It also has a 6.5 inch sub in the center console. Both amps are in the center console. At the bottom. I know this because I looked it up and also took apart my center console and I have the same truck but an ext cab
Another very very good brand would be Focal. They are quite expensive though but also very worth it. The quality is insane. I have 4 6.5 focal speakers in my 06 Denali and they sound beautiful.
I used Crutchfield (they are super helpful) to upgrade my 2015 Chevy Silverado. New touch screen, 4 channel 1000 watt amp ( Kenwood) powering rear doors, front doors, and a-pillar speakers with crossovers (all Polk Audio) 800 watt amp (Kenwood) powering 10 inch subwoofer. The Bose sounded clean but literally had no volume. After my upgrades, the new system pounds 🔊 🔊🔊🔊
Sick vid. You’ve inspired me to look into getting an older truck to do some dope tlc to it like you’re doing with yours. My first ever vehicle was a single cab Silverado 05, I ran that thing into the ground and haven’t stopped regretting it since. The main reason I bought a crew cab same color 21 Silverado a little over a year ago. Love the “pretty daggone good” haha I listen for one every video!
Two things. 1.) Good choice choosing Crutchfield. Their customer service is top notch! F--- the naysayers! 2.) The GoPro picked up the bass really well. I watch YT on my TV with my home audio system. My two 10" subs with a 300 watt amp were working a lil bit when you were sitting in the truck! 🔊🎶
Great speaker choice being that I know your not an audiophile and don’t want anything crazy loud even being with adding a sub and I’m really happy they convince you to go with a component system being that when you add power via amplifier it sounds 10 times better than a coaxial speaker
When you go with aftermarket speakers vs Bose is that your Bose speakers are 2ohm and the aftermarket speakers are 4ohm. Not a huge difference but you don’t get much base from the 4ohm speakers like you would the the 2 ohm Bose speakers. The aftermarket speakers will give you more clarity and better sound. I replaced my door speakers with alpine R speakers. Components in the front and coaxial speakers in the rear. I do have a 7” Kenwood touch less head unit and I’m fixing to get 1 JL audio 8 “ micro sub box with the amp in the box for a little base, not too much. It should sound really good once im done. Good luck man
Hi quality speakers are always a great investment and probably the best place to start if the head unit is still good enough, but I always replace the head unit first LOL Infinity makes excellent speakers as well, the factory Bose system sound pretty good even though their speakers aren't really all that great, there's always room for improvement in any factory sound system.
I've had alot of infinity speakers. My experience has been the mids and highs are very tight and clear. They sound great, but need some bass help. For a full range from just the factory speaker locations I've always found pioneer to be great. They don't have the audiophile level of the infinities at mid and higher but get alot more bass with very good mids and highs for people who don't want to add subs
Surprised Crutchfield didn't sell you the speaker brackets that clip in like factory. Makes it much easier to install. I've bought from Crutchfield for every vehicle I've had. I actually had those speakers in my old 06 impala. They sound great compared to the cheap junk these vehicles come with.
@@ThatGuyDrew16 bose isn't that great. If you ever hear a good audio system that's done right you'd be amazed at how bad those Factory systems sound. Most folks wouldn't do the things I do. My vehicle's all look Factory but are far from it. The Factory radio is just used as a source of audio input. The processor and amps power everything. My father got me Into it as a child and it's expensive but once you've been spoiled by it nothing compares.
I was thinking about upgrading my speakers in my 2002 F150. They’re 6x8 with the stock radio and 6cd changer but they have no amplifier I believe. My truck comes with the premium audio package which to me really just means the 6 CD player and cassette. I’m worried that I won’t see much of an improvement due to no amp. Mines has decent sound especially when playing CDs but it distorts and sounds a little bit messy at really high volume.
Wow, thats great coming through a go pro. I can actually tell how good that sounds. Best video demonstration of sound quality Ive heard. Wasn't terrible at all. Question, are those 6.5 inch in the back? If so, does your window roll all the way down? I know it sounds dumb, but I was told by a "professional" that i couldn't use 6.5 inch. Good video though.
Awesome truck. Link to headlights Did it look like the areas would accommodate a 6x9..seem like the flat metal was in the shape of a 6x9 and could be cut?? Thoughts What are the wheels off of?? Thanks Dennis
For this truck with the Bose sound upgrade, yes but you'll need an adapter harness for multiple reasons like door chimes but specifically because there is a Bose amplifier. Believe it or not, the Bose head unit doesn't supply any 'wattage', it's like a 2 wire RCA level output that gives the Bose amp the signal to then amplify. If you start throwing 50 watts TO the amplifier, you won't be happy, the adapter bleeds off the wattage like an aftermarket amplifier does when you use speaker level inputs instead of RCA cables. It's possible, but complicated, to bypass the factory amp with basically a jumper harness but nobody makes one, you'll have to make it yourself. OR, spend like $30-40 on the adapter from Crutchfield, more if you want to keep steering wheel controls.
