I started compound exercises barbell training 3 months ago and now I just got a Concept 2 rower. Great that Cassi is bridging the gap between these two activities I'm involved in. I'll soon be 63 and about to in the best physical shape of my life, hopefully injury free.
    Thanks for the great vids!

Thank you for showing a quick release way to remove your feet from the feet straps. Mind blowing! 😅

This is getting spooky. Every time I have a rowing query up pops a vid on my recommend vids that answers it. 😱

You would think getting your feet in, and especially OUT, of the straps would be a
    no-brainer!
    NOT!
Thank you so much for sharing this technique!

Very helpful in explaining a quicker way to get out of the straps. I never knew that. But again, these videos give a lot of discussion of where to place the straps, but for whatever reason don't comment on the comparable # setting on the stretcher itself. You seem to keep it at #2 or #3. I've always been comfortable at #5 because that's where my coach put it and its felt fine. I have a size 11 foot but honestly don't know if that is average or large.

If you have a size 11 shoe, you probably DO need the strap around a 5, so you're probably ok! I don't mention the numbers because it's simple enough to look at your own foot and get the strap around the ball of your foot, widest part, or where the bottom of your shoe laces are. You want to have enough mobility to allow your heels to raise up (should you need to raise them... not saying they should or shouldn't) and that you're in a good position to push down through the legs to produce force for the drive. The strap over the widest part of your foot is a general starting place for most people - but there are definite times when people have it higher or lower!

@@CassiNiemann Thanks. After experimenting with the 4, I'm sticking with 5. I very much appreciate your reply. Now onto today's workout. 6 x 1000

Do you have to strap your feet in ? My knees are really stiff and I don’t have complete Rom in them it is difficult to strap in and out. I am a beginner and I am rowing for time and not speed . Working out for weight loss.

You don't have to strap your feet in, but it does help to keep you on the machine as your intensity increases or stroke rate goes up. You might try dropping the height of your feet (less holes showing) or even elevating your butt up further (sit on a hand towel). See if that helps your range of motion by making you higher than your feet. I would suggest strapping in if you can make it work!
