Every time you give us a thumbs up a Narwhal gets its horn! (maybe..)
So what you’re telling me is that Buzz Lightyear was played by Steve McQueen’s son, Chad McQueen, the actor who played Dutch in the Karate Kid. He would’ve been 35 at the time of Lightyear’s release in-universe, and he raced just like his father until 2006 after crashing during training for the Daytona 24 hour race. It took him a year to finish his physical rehabilitation, and by that point he became the owner of McQueen Racing, LLC, a custom motorcycle and car company. Cars 3 might as well have been based on that part of his life.
this seems more plausible than whatever tinfoil hat conspiracies Ben's rambling on about in this video lol 🥰
Buzz and Zurge Play the roles as father and sun play catch. So how can they say woody do something no you ever does. Maybe seeing that is what made Woody's Buzz encourage life with another fallow toy
It’s just a theory… a FILM Theory… thanks for watching
@@karebear3152 😊
This adds the the video and ties it all up nicely 👌
The way the movie Lightyear started, made me realize that 1995 cinema within the Pixar Universe is way more advanced than it was in real world 1995.
I hated that. Should be in turning red.
exactly😂😂
they also had superheroes in the 50s so that probably helped
@@arachnidsjacket57 and AI and Robots
I mean the buzz lightyear was very loosely based off of Star Wars which the OG trilogy started in the 70’s and the prequel trilogy was late 90’s- early 00’s, so I wouldn’t be surprised that the Pixar universe movies would be somewhat more ahead of the time than ours.
I think that in-universe, the lightyear movie had a LOT of practical effects like a remote control puppet of Sox and giant suits for zurg and other robot characters along with early cgi effects like laser blasts, just like Star Wars does behind the scenes. But reality is that it’s just a cgi animated movie.
I miss the times when Pixar would make fake bloopers and in universe marketing like interviews, they were so fun.
Petition to bring back These Socks Are Amazing! Make it happen Carlin Brothers!
You’ve convinced me that Lightning was the consciousness of a former Racecar driver, but I see almost nothing in this video that connects that to Buzz other than that an actor could theoretically also become a racecar driver. This was a video about how Lightning is Steve McQueen, not about how he is Buzz. What you need to be able to do is show that Buzz is also Steve McQueen in the Pixar universe.
Amen. They probably didn't go that far because Steve McQueen died in 1980 and could not have played Buzz (and probably wouldn't have been willing to if he were alive).
@@carlrood4457 In their defense, I think they were simply trying to set a real-world precedent if their idea seemed unrealistic at first, and I think they did well in setting that precedent. So Lightning McQueen's former human self wouldn't have been Steve McQueen himself, just a Pixarverse analog for him. However, I do agree with Katie Robinson that they could have done more to directly link Buzz's actor in Lightyear to the Cars universe, which is pretty impossible because it doesn't seem like we'd see much of this actor outside of his role in the in-universe Lightyear film. Maybe we'll see references to this actor or the Lightyear film in future Pixar projects going forward, but at this moment this theory's main premise seems fairly flimsy. If it were actually a video on McQueen's real-world inspirations, then it'd make significantly more sense.
@@chansesturm7103 I get what you’re saying, however, Ben at the beginning of the video explained how cars in the Cars movies are created (with their personality and technological limitations stuff), and that is supposed to tie in where the personality and conscience of Mcqueen really are from. Yeah, yeah, I get that it’s a bit of a stretch and it’s definitely not my favorite theory of theirs, but it’s really funny to think that there’s a guy out there in the Pixar Universe who filmed a lot of movies and was a racer AAAAND also happens to play Lightyear
In the first movie when they show lightning in the season standings they say he came into the season unknown but everyone knows him now
Right? I'd even go so far as to say that he's convinced me that Lightning is the consciousness of Steve McQueen, but he did nothing to prove to me that *the actor playing Buzz* is Steve McQueen, so I don't see how Lightning = Buzz beyond the idea that it's technically possible for someone to be an actor and a racecar driver.
Anyone else think Buzz (or the actor who plays Buzz) looks a lot like Mr Incredible? If Dash grew up to be a speed loving actor (similar to mcqueen/newman/cruise) could the actor be Dash? Does that timeline even work?
The superhero, Thunderhead, died on November 15th, 1958, according to Edna Mode. So that means Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl got married shortly before that, presumably a year ago (1957). The film then flashes forward 15 years in the future, bringing us to 1972, and Dash is 10 years old at this point, so he was born in 1962. So, if Lightyear is a movie within the Pixar universe that premiered in 1995, by subtracting 1995 from 1962, we get 33. So, Dash would be 33 years old at that point so the timeline fits up for Dash to have played Buzz. I love this idea so much.
@@sadhbhcorr942 the more I think of it, the more I actually love it. His mother even describes him as being a "bit if a showoff" and :?"competitive". Now I am not calling actors those things but surely the best racers are competitive. Dash also loves cartoons and movies and geeks out at the super villan house the family stays in in I2.. he also adores his Dad's old car.
@@sadhbhcorr942 also thanks for doing the actual math here.....I didn't pay the math budget.....
@@kellylouisefoley6442 That is so true. He really wanted to fight crime with his family and be better than everyone else. So, I can imagine Dash as a grown up wanting to become the lead actor in a popular blockbuster film because everyone would adore him. That feels very in line with his characters. I also imagine him in a lot of sports and/or other action movies. The Parr family are literally in Coco, as a painting on a wall in the Land of the Dead. So, that could imply they became famous worldwide and Dash is remembered for his acting role.
@@kellylouisefoley6442 No problem. SCB don't have time to pay the math budget.
Just by title alone this might be the most out-there SCB theory yet, I’m here for it

❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
"Snape = Luna" is hard to beat for that.
Thought the same thing
30 seconds in and floored by how casually he said "the general motors idea here"
I always figured the name Lightning McQueen was a nod to Steve McQueen, as John Lassiter (the guy behind Cars) was a huge enthusiast.
Yeah, hearing all this, that also made sense to me. The point about Glenn doesn't make clear they named the character after him, just a dedication in Finding Nemo (unless I missed something).
Fun theory. I was hoping you would come up with something about the Buzz actor’s life.
Paul Newman and Steve McQueen starred together in The Towering Inferno, one of the best 70's disaster movies. For that movie, they came up with a way to credit them equally., Newman's name was on top to the right, while McQueen's was on the bottom to the left. If you looked at it top to bottom, Newman's name was first. If you looked at it left to right, McQueen's was first.
Did Newman ever do a cowboy/sheriff character?
Fun fact, Michael Fassbender is also an actor who is also a race car driver. He raced in Le Mans 24h this year
Also Patrick Dempsey. I think Frankie Muniz raced Atlantics at some point didn't he?
I think indycar driver Jack Harvey is a fan of this channel too.
These SOX are amazing!
fact
I understood that reference.
...and so are these shoes!
So does that mean there’s an in universe doc that who buzz has a rivalry with? Woody by chance???
Imagine if Pixar theory was just an animated recollection of two actors turned racing drivers who didn’t enjoy each other’s company in the slightest 😂
12:34 I already knew that, but I still laughed quietly to myself when I heard that. Maybe it was just Ben's delivery, but still.
Hearing old information can give new reactions.
Loved this video. Also both Buzz and Lightening think that they dont need anyone else to help them win/finish the mission.
I always smile while watching SuperCarlinBrothers. Coincidence? I think NOT!
*gasp* Skinner has the same facial hair as Ercole? Coincidence? I think NOT!

Cars and Cars 3 are CRIMINALLY underrated Pixar films. Are they PERFECT? No. But they're cozy. And that's why they work; they're perfect movies to put on after a long day, or during a rainy day, when you just...need to feel like there's a nice warm blanket around you. Not to mention the animation in the first still looks really good for a 2006 film.
I used to watch these in 4th grade im a Junior now in high school coming back to this channel in a new video felt so nice
What happens when the car is owned by 2 different people? Like when you buy a pre-owned car.

@@Huebz I love this reply so much
I love whenever you guys talk about Cars and bring up real life racecar drivers to connect them to lol
So basically what you’re saying is that my 2 favourite Pixar characters are the same guy? I love it
I agree with about 95% of your guys’ theories but this was is a bit of a stretch. However I thank you for teaching my the valuable and crucial fact that Lightnings real first name was Montgomery. I never knew that, so thank you
I’m all here for super out there theories like this, but I’m not quite convinced. That being said, you guys are still doing great. Also, side note one: instead of a detective hat maybe it should be a tinfoil hat. :). And side note two: “Monty McQueen” would be a pretty cool name. Even if it’s less memorable.
Buuz& Zurge Play the role as father and son so how can they say woody does something no other toy ever does . maybe seeing it was spired Woody's Buzz to encourage woody to choose a life with another to as an equal . instead of acting like an object. And talking about something no toy ever does . In the first movie He flat out tells a human we don't like being blown up .
Of course the Omi droid also Breaks his programing self pressure. But woody was saving a friend.
And later Even put her directive aside for wall.e
How are they doing great? They put more and more sponsored content into their videos (actual content starts at 4:29), they have Patreon and still run UA-cam ads. Their greed knows no boundary.
@@Exarathas That's not fair to them mate. They sponsor things they genuinely think are important or fun that they often use. The majority of their UA-cam viewers probably aren't on Patreon, and you don't make much at all via UA-cam without sponsorship.
You may not love all their content, but they can do great in other ways. Creating a community, sharing good vibes, being positive, relaxing and chilling out over movies that seem to drive many to literally get angry.
The band-aid just pulls it all together
I haven't watched these guys in a awhile but I still remember to say "HEY BROTHER" in the intro lol
Edit: also there oldest intro has the best song fight me
This will just make it all the more cool when lightning finally meets the progenitor, a millenia-old Woody, augmented by all manner of mechanical parts, and lightning is the the embodiment of the inspiration for one of his early best friends.
Great video! But I do want to say, why would we assume it was a live-action movie for Andy? It could've been a cartoon movie. We know he is not, but he doesn't know he is not. It makes more sense that a kid would watch a cartoon movie rather than a live-action movie.
As well, not many movies that are about space have toys made, like never seen one for Deep Impact, Interstellar, or Apollo 18. It makes more sense that a cartoon movie gets toys made and the target audience is kids.
Counterpoint: one of the most successful toy franchises is based on a live action movie about space. Star Wars.
I actually feel this is one of the better SCB theory videos I’ve seen in awhile. I also like that you’re in a small way introducing a younger audience to Steve MeQueen and Paul Newman. My only slight criticism would be that there have been more than 2 actors that also raced cars. James Dean, and James Garner for example.
James Garner was in The Great Escape with Steve McQueen.
Yep. James Garner was also in another great racing movie Grand Prix.
Next Theory: Woody is Wall-E's UNCLE becouse andy's Grandson is his humman.
Edit: this wasn't supposed to make sense just a joke.
Steve McQueen was an avid motor cyclist. When he was working his way up, he raced them to earn money. That became the back story of his character in The Great Escape (based on a true story. Look it up and watch the movie). He insisted on a scene of him riding a motor cycle be added to the movie. He also acted as a stunt rider since they didn't have enough stuntmen who could ride as well as him. There's actually a scene where he's chasing himself. However, he did not do the famous jump in the movie, as he was too valuable for something that dangerous.
DUDE ,you just blew my mind with the “it was a live action film in Andy’s universe.” I’m 5 mins in and already floored.
Omg! Great video! This is my 3 year old’s absolute favorite movie! This was so cool because McQueen and Buzz are the two characters he has been drawn to the most! I can’t wait to tell him!
Aw that's awesome!
@@SuperCarlinBrothers *le gasp* HE READS THE COMMENTS. +Respect 999
Wasn't Lightning Mcqueen names after Steve Mcqueen. An actor who often drove racecars
Nope. He was named after Glenn McQueen, an animator.
Someone didn't watch the video.
I think that settles it: Invest enough time and mental energy into the Pixar Theory, and you eventually become completely insane.
Kachow kinda makes more sense now what if it was mimicking the sound of Buzz's Lazar. A movie that big would definitely would've made an impact on buzz.
I once thought Lightning McQueen could of been based on the motorcyclist Marc Marquez, as they have similar color themes and almost identical numbers. Moreover, both were the youngest at their time to win the championship. However, I later found out that Cars came out over a decade before Marc Marquez’s rise to fame and two years before he began racing.
For the sake of simplicity, I’ll assume the actor playing Buzz Lightyear in Andy’s universe is Chris Evans. Does that mean that Chris Evans is a variant of Steve McQueen?
Well most folks tend to headcanon the Lightyear film is a 2020's reboot movie instead of the 1995 film it's claimed to be which the show (and first three episodes turned into a pilot movie) Buzz Lightyear of Star Command fits better as the film Andy saw as a kid in 95.
And every episode opens with Andy's toys watching the show.
Yeah, that’s what I always said ever since Lightyear was first announced. I just think it makes way more sense if Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is the movie that the toy was based on in 1995, and then at some point after Toy Story 4 the company that makes the Buzz toys saw that their sales were dropping and decided to reboot the movie to try to get a new generation of kids interested in Buzz Lightyear toys.
The beginning of Lightyear literally states otherwise. Pixar did not like the Buzz of Star Command tv show and it is not canon to the Toy Story world.
@@TECfan1 do you know what the word *HEADCANON* means?
There's a dirt track racer near San Antonio who's name is Lightning McDream, and he races a Lightning McQueen car! He didnt win any, but that's not what matters, he had fun.
Frankie Muniz was also an American actor turned race car driver, who would have been someone to have watched the movie as a kid in '95!
“The count hasn’t been off for centuries” a jerry from soul
The meteor misses the dinosaurs… The songs were supposed to go onto the conveyor belt of afterlife but they do not, the dinosaurs threw the count off
Paul Newman just makes me think of the first line of The Outsiders
So if Lightyear was an in-universe movie, wouldn't there have been different end credits for the movie that Andy saw in 1995?
The Pixar theory gets more and more complicated the more I learn about it
Just like some religions. More you try to figure things out the harder to wrap your mind around it!!🤭🤪🤯

Idk why but I feel like the Pixar theory has just gotten to the point where it’s not realistic anymore and y’all are jus reaching for something that’s not there.
Possible. But there are wierd coincidences.
They have talked about that before. They like to think of it as a game to make everything fit and the point isn't to disprove the Pixar theory
more or less
they seem to have fun trying to patch it together tho so eh
@@saanvitammana271 Yeah exactly. I also like to believe this. It’s just so much fun trying to make out there theories and people who keep complaining about it make me a bit sad.
I always thought of Lightning of being based on Jeff Gordon, but just realized that he has his own character, Jeff Gorvette.
"The general motors idea" ok i see you SCB well played
"General Motors idea" lol
This is a very bold claim. I haven't seen light-year. I thought Buzz was a fictional character in the Pixar universe.
He is yeah
The theory is about the presumed "actor" in the film, since, to the people of the Toy Story world, it's likely a live-action film.
Really good theory, to potentially make this more realistic the race driver “McQueen” in universe became so successful he went on to do the movies he wanted to do in his day dreaming. So instead of movies first racing 2nd, it’s racing first then movies
All he has to do is wear some square glasses to become Dr. Freeman from Half-Life
For me, the first actor-turned-racer to come to mind is Patrick Dempsey. Reading the other comments, racing isn’t that strange of career change for an actor.
I think you may have it backwards: a younger guy, who was a great race car driver, would make an excellent spaceship pilot with his better than normal reflexes and vision. Buzz (or the actor playing him) seems a little old to start an entirely new career as a race car driver - plus, as he movie was such a success, he may have been making sequels for years afterwards.
Sort of how the best of the best in the Army get picked for Special Forces or the best of the pilots become "Top Gun" pilots. Also, a young guy who was a good race car driver may turn into a good aircraft pilot who could then be recruited for a Space mission.
Of course, this depends on if the actor is the one who was a race car driver, then a pilot. If he was just an actor, he could have started by making race car movies like the "Fast and Furious" franchise, then moved on to playing "Buzz Lightyear" type roles.
great video y'all the theory itself doesn't really connect in my brain but I loved learning about the actors/race drivers it's an extra tad of knowledge I otherwise probably would've never known
I swear recent pixar theory videos are becoming so unhinged and I'm all here for it
If Lightyear is a real movie in the Toy Story universe, doesn't that include credits? So wouldn't the actor playing Buzz be...Chris Evans?
touching that they named lighting after a Animator who passed away
Yeah but in the first movie when the announcers talk about lighting in the standings of the season they say he showed up unknown but everyone knows him now
(Disclaimer: The following theory has literally nothing to do with the video)
Okay... hear me out. Skinner (Ratatouille) is Ercole's (Luca) father. First, Ercole is Italian, and Skinner is French (Italy and France are extremely close to each other.) Also, we see Skinner use the exact same Vespa that Ercole owns, so it's likely Ercole would have inherited it. Even though Ercole claims that he bought it, lying about this seems like such an Ercole thing to do. Also, not for nothing, but they both have VERY similar facial features.
Wait hang on... *checks when both movies take place* oh......
Ben for Kvothe!🧙🏻♂️🗡 J for Elodin!🗡🧙🏻♂️
I laughed at Lightning's actual first name as i thought his name was Lightning but in my opinion, Lightning McQueen is Owen Wilson. ❤️
So Basically, Lightyear is A movie, inside of another movie, and the guy who plays Buzz in said movie inside of another movie is turned into lightning McQueen when the world gets super futuristic and stuff?
Harry Potter video idea: In the Prisoner of Azkaban during the bogart lesson lupin says but no one has ever seen a boggart its true form. However, in Order of the Phoenix there is a bogart in the drawing room confirmed by mad eye moody who sees the bogart in the box it's in with his magical eye. The bogart didn't know that moody was looking at it so does that mean that moody is the only person to see a boggart on its true form? (hopefully that made sense)
There's one more actor who has become a racing driver, this time within Nascar. Frankie Muniz is currently racing in lower, local divisions of Nascar, trying to at least make his way to the truck series.
If McQueen is buzz then I'm calling him lightyear McQueen.
I'm sorry Ben, but I personally love y'all's "The Cars are actually biological beings" theory from 2016 that answers everything so well. The cars are their own species in a universe parallel to the other Pixar movies and have a mixture of organic and mechanical parts inside them.
But isn’t it still possible that the biological cars in that parallel universe are based off of humans from the main universe? So this theory could still be true, because there would have to be a human Lightning McQueen to explain the merch we’ve seen in movies like Toy Story 3, Finding Dory, etc.
@@MiloMurphysLaw The cars in cars are just knock offs of famous celebrities such as Michael Schumacher (Ferrari) and like Ben said, the two racing announcers shown at the beginning. The product placement could just be because there are real Nascars in the Pixar universe who are not alive. Or maybe there is some Cars movie in the Pixar universe that a kid from Sunnyside Daycare went too and his t - shirt with the number 95 on it is from a fictional character who is not Lightning McQueen.
I like how this theory does nothing to say how buzz is this character. Just giving us the story of the creation of lightning. By this logic any actor from light year could have become lightning McQueen
As a NASCAR fan and massive fan of the channel, I love this theory!
Same cars helped me love nascar as a kid, I still think McQueen is Jimmie johnson though
Let me guess Lightning is a Loki too? Ps: I hope you have a nice day
No he is a mobius. Where he wanted to race instead of jet-skiing
Love watching these videos while board
Fun fact: Frankie Munez (of Malcom in the Middle fame) is currently a race car driver as well! He doesn’t race in nascar, but he does now race more than act so it counts!
Buzz part is from buzz aldrin. and at that point in time, astronauts were given a corvette. I dare say this played a big inspiration too
Ever realized in the Toy Story Universe, back in 1995, Lightyear the movie actually looked more realistic than real life?
I wish Lightning McQueen's namesake would have been his voice actor, to make it more comically obvious if the man Steve McQueen had still been alive.
this is the most out-there theory........but makes so much sense!
Also, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz (current gorilla one drivers) VOICED characters in lightyear is so weird! To my knowledge they have only ever used F1 drivers and drivers in general in the Cars franchise… come ON!!!
Bonus: Arnold at one point owned 15 Humvees and that's why he was given the Hummer as his vehicle.
Marty Robbins was a famous country/western music singer who went on to race in NASCAR, he also had a few film roles.
“So instead of lightning McQueen you get… Jeff!… Ka-Chow!”
If you think Jeff Gordon is a boring name, that just means you haven’t added the right amount of world building to it yet. You switch one of the letters and change his name from Jeff Gordon to Jeff Ford-on!
I thought Lightning McQueen’s daydream was about staring in a more action centric War of the Worlds
Steve McQueen could have voiced Lightning McQueen instead of Owen Wilson
Lightyear: "In 1995... There was a boy named Andy... This is that movie"
Andy: 👁👄👁
Although I can’t say I believe in the Pixar Theory (I can buy the idea that some of these films take place in the same universe but all of them is pushing it a little) i’m always fascinated to see your guy’s fascinating theories about how they could all fit together. It’s very entertaining to see a different way to interpret stories. Keep up the good work.
I think you guys forget James Dean and Patrick Dempsey who both are famous actors/racers. Both of which have ties to Porsche, making the Sally connection plausible too.
Clicked for the explanation, stayed for the GM (general motors) pun in the first minute 🤣👏🏻
Always thought cars was a movie inside toy story
When you talked about Buzz being live action, it got me thinking: what’s the deal with the B&L CEO videos in Wall E? They’re live action from our perspective. What would that even mean in universe?
Buzz Lightning, Lightyear McQueen
The person at Pixar who decided to make that bandaid have the number 95 on it as an extra quirk:
This is just a small snip bit, no one will really notice, totally wouldn’t change anything.
SuperCarlinBros: 🤯this changes Everything!
Love you guys
Wasn’t Jeff Gordon already in the Cars universe? I believe he was in Cars 2 as Jeff Corvette in the Tokyo section.
He was, I have a Jeff Gorvette hot wheel lol
Lightning McQueen's daydream was a car's version of War of the Worlds.
I think it's worth noting that Jeff Gordon does exist in the Pixar universe and he later went on to be Jeff Gorvette from Cars 2
Did you know that Tim Allen also races cars? So there's that.
Wonder if Steve McQueen ever played a role with the no-chill-comedy as Buzz Lightyear.
I think the entire cars franchise has to be a movie series. The idea that the cars all came to life in succession of being built would suggest that most if not all cars are actually "born" in the junk yard. That's whare broken cars go. That's also ware they would all be returning. That's like everyone being born in a graveyard instead of a hospital. That's just dark. And most of those cars would come to life rusty and broken. Then again in another theory you already suggested that cars reproduce. Speaking of that I remember quote when the were talking about the Sistine chapel. I have to wonder if they saw cars with no pain on them, or if they still saw human paintings and think of them as aliens.
Cars could’ve taken place after Monsters Inc so it can explain that every organic lifeform’s dead but no it’s before Wall-E which doesn’t work at all
@@ShockwaveFPSStudios interesting idea, but why would there still be a lightning McQueen band-aid?
Other Famous Actors who raced cars. James Garner - 1969-1971 24 Hours of Daytona,
Patrick Dempsey - 2009 24 Hours of Le Man, 30th, 9th in class, 2011 24 Hours of Daytona, 3rd in class, Baja 1000 off-road race, American Le Mans Series
Even Gene Hackman - 1983 24 Hours of Daytona
This is my theory of who was a lightning’s driver:
Owen Wilson.
I wonder what would be a CGI world’s equivalent to a CGI film from our universe if a CGI film in a CGI world is an equivalent to a live-action film from our universe
I never knew people DIDNT think Lightning McQueen was based on Steve McQueen! I always thought that! BTW - Paul Newman and Mario Andretti were partners in a racing team!
The actor who plays Buzz also stars in a popular movie about racing he plays the character McQueen
The darker park...
He crashes in the last scene of the movie and wakes up in his racecar form and for all of Pixar time will forever be Lightning McQueen
