Skydive Atlanta. I was at the hangar in a lawn chair watching this happen. A couple of safety people at the drop zone were waiting for plane to land so we could admonish them. It never came back.
I'm a pilot. When I'm flying, I listen to the area frequency and often hear jump plane pilots broadcasting their intentions. It is a cue for me to stay well clear of the area, and I reply to him/her over the radio, telling them my position, altitude and intentions. I wonder if ATC tried contacting the pilot flying into the jump zone, they normally work in with planned jumps.
@@TheOcco99 it’s the same in the USA, all flight maps show parachute drop zones. Regardless at my local DZ we’ve had military Blackhawk helicopters fly directly over our parachute landing area at low altitude on a number of occasions..
Aviation sectional charts have parachute symbols on them to alert pilots which airports have drop zones. Unless you are setting up to land at that airport, a pilot should assume the drop zone is "always active" and give a wide berth when flying near the airport if not landing there. The radio should be tuned in for that airport as well. Most planes have two built in radios and most good pilots keep a spare portable handheld in their flight bag as well. There is no reason not to know when an airport is being used by skydivers. When landing or taking off, the plane is down low and the skydiver's chutes are open so its easier to see them. But flying at 7,500 ft. directly over an airport which has a parachute icon on the chart is just inviting trouble, IMHO.
+spearofthor I'm a pilot my self dumb dumb. Once your jumpers leave the plane you SHOULD continue on out for another mile or two before turning and losing altitude. The pilot should have NEVER pulled and turned down that quick. That's why he almost hit the guy. Evidently you do not know anything about flying or skydiving.
+Chad Cole PIlot here as well, guarantee I have waaay more hours than you do. IF you were also a pilot then you would MOST LIKELY be an observant person. That would mean that you would have noticed that the plane the skydiver almost hit was not the same plane he jumped out of. If you were a pilot youd also know that it is fucking impossible to see a person falling out of the sky until they are nearly on top of you.
+spearofthor Do you not have anything better to do than start a argument on UA-cam.?. GROW UP!!!! And like you know how many hours I got idiot. I have been flying for 30 years. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Usually the pilot will announce jumpers in the air about 2 minutes prior to jump run and doors opening. It's up to other pilots in area to be on alert when they hear the callout. It's up to the other pilot to know he's in a skydiving drop zone area and to be aware. If the other pilot signaled on the radio that he was in the area or over the DZ the pilot might have just did a go around.
Hansjørgen Buhrkall My point exactly. See and Be Seen. No one owns the air. We must share it. Look out the fucking door and while in free fall you should be doing the same thing. Looking around. We used to try to learn from others mistakes. Today everyone is too cool to do so.
Are y'all fucking stupid? One this is not Europe we have rules here about flying over a dz when jumpers are out. Two unless your superman your not going to see a flying plane that low at those speeds.
Temple McLaughlin Wrong on both counts. You are the stupid one. By the way you can't spell.. Both skydivers and pilots share the air. The rule is "See and be seen". There is no law that says a pilot may not over-fly a DZ. It may not be a good idea but there is no law. DZs do not own the airspace above them. And YES... You CAN See aircraft below you. If you can't you should not be in the sport. And you should check the airspace in front of the jump plane, behind it, and to the sides. You should also look down a few times while in free fall. Hey it's YOUR life. If you want to make excuses instead of surviving go ahead. Be stupid.
Think about this for a second, your at 13,5 the jumper broke off around 5 and tracked to what I guess to be around 3,5 then the plane comes into frame.....OK now let's factor in the time this all took, if the plane was beneath him by his pull time the plane was not going to be seen from the jump plane upon spoting
As an ex Jump pilot, I would love to know what the pilot did to get that FAR DOWN so fast as to beat a freefaller ? It is illegal to spin the aircraft down, which is the fastest way to do it, so how did he loose all that altitude so fast ??
GoPro's have a tendency to make close objects appear farther away as well. Which means if it looks close, it's probably even closer
GoPro's also curve straight lines giving false impressions of what is REAL

May I ask from which country you are? In Germany the skydive areas are marked in all maps. And as I know it is illegal to jump outside this areas.

Everyone on UA-cam is a pilot 🤣
That's horrible man someone needs to do something about that before it kills someone@@avimech8546

And Spaceland DZ's tend to operate 7 days a week too
Who else watched this after giving up on trying to find the recent video of 2 skydivers who almost got hit by a jet (supposedly recorded on a go pro)
The pilot shouldn't have been anywhere near over the drop zone.
+Chad Cole WTF are you talking about? The drop zone is at an airport, thats where PLANES hang out. And everywhere else in the air.

+Chad Cole yeah, 30 years of flying Microsoft Flight Simulator probably.
someone get a drink for the man with the big eyeballs ..... big sky theory has flaws
This is why I’m glad my DZ is in class B airspace
This is why we listen to the atis boys
Nice flying though...
Good thing he tracked away as long as he did. Had he flipped over just a second sooner, he probably would have impacted the plane. Wow
this pilot probably overlooked NOTAM for the dz
how can this happen even by mistake?

@@gouda2872 , Thank you.
Why is there a plane flying through a drop zone..?
That looks like Skydive Dallas.
There is another video of an American Airlines plane going under some jumpers. Has to be fake, but it looks so damn real.
I'm just upset that there's no 'Friday freakout' intro before the video
Bad airmanship.
hey the DZ is Spaceland Dallas.
What a dummie for flying anywhere near an active drop zone!!
The go pro boys on tour
I was wondering why everyone had a snag hazard on their heads...
I agree ... that plane shouldnt have been over the DZ.
why?
My home DZ i operating from a small commercial airport (like most DZ's in Europe are)... we all share the airspace, equally ;)
Hansjørgen Buhrkall My point exactly. See and Be Seen. No one owns the air. We must share it. Look out the fucking door and while in free fall you should be doing the same thing. Looking around. We used to try to learn from others mistakes. Today everyone is too cool to do so.

NOT almost ... Get your perception fixed
That would have freaked me out a bit lol
Wow. That could have been very bad. What luck
There is another video I saw a while ago where the intruding aircraft was much closer than this one. I'd link it here but I can't find it right now.
Sorry, too fast for hitch hiking.
In uncontrolled airspace do your homework
Again. My point exactly.
As an ex Jump pilot, I would love to know what the pilot did to get that FAR DOWN so fast as to beat a freefaller ? It is illegal to spin the aircraft down, which is the fastest way to do it, so how did he loose all that altitude so fast ??
It was not the Same plane as the one They jumped out
"As an ex jump pilot", there's no excuse for failing to understand that it was a different plane.
damn
