That would've been awesome lol
They ought have been seated coughing individuals in each corner of the studio after becoming suspicious.

Yes😂😂😂
Yeah, surprised that wasn't mentioned in the video. He literally reacts with a Captain Picard facepalm.. and that may be even more telling than any cough.
I noticed that. It also seemed like the host started getting suspicious. He asked him why he changed his answer on a couple different questions. After about the eighth time I'm sure everyone started to notice the elephant in the room... Or should I say excessive cough in the room.
“Do you want to be a millionaire?”

Yeah I saw that episode!
I saw that too
wud of got away it if walk away 250 but was so greedy
In hindsight, his failure to capture the gravity of the moment during the 1M question was the final straw. The host was even trying to help him appreciate the moment, and he had this "yeah well you know" attitude about it 😆
Even his wife knew he was caught when she came down and the man kept on saying I don’t know what your strategy and sub strategy was , but the man couldn’t tell he was just to happy to win , women are naturally smarter than guys when it comes to this things
Her face when he said never heard of Craig David kept saying A1 yet suddenly changed his mind to Craig David right after his wife coughing which was so embarrassing
The confidence he gains in explaining his choices once he's heard that cough is hilarious lol

I think the guy is not guilty at all.
If you are at a contest and someone say or cough the answer and you answer where is your fault here?
Lets see:
What's the capital of England ?
(you have to answer and someone in the audience says before you (loud or not) LONDON... What you going to do? Don't answer?)
Its the same with the coughing... You reed one by one slowly and notice that someone coughs when you say one of the answers possible, if you dont know the answer and repeat the answer and the person coughs again you will try and answer that... after the first one you will allways do that don't you???
Why couldn't he just say: "Whats the problem if someone cough the answer? I'm not cheating. I heard someone coughing and I just thought that's someone helping because knew the answer." or "Why I have to lose because someone knews the answers? I'm not doing anything wrong... maybe the person is doing wrong... or not... but not me." Just because someone cough the answer I lose? Isn't fair."
Oh but the one coughing it's your brother in law...
Ok, and there are dozens of persons in the audience all in my back, how can I know that guy is my brother in law? And even if I know its him what I'm doing wrong if he knows the answers and say it? Maybe you should spoke to him to get out or be quiet or something.
But he's your brother in law!!!
Ok that but whats MY fault here??? I'm guilty of answer everything correctly just because someone cough the answers??? And if it wasn't my brother in law, or no one of my family it was ok??? If yes/no Why???
I don't know the rules, dont know the show, dont watch TV, but he says few times that he doesn't know the answer and the show doesn't stops there just stops when he answers wrong. Thats my understeanding. He couldn't know even who was Jesus Christ or the US money currency or if its the moon or the sun in the sky, the show just stops when he gets the wrong answer so what is he doing wrong?
@Gustavo Teixeira are you stupid? 🤦🏻♂️
@@GustavoTeixeira-hu1ck What is he doing wrong? let's see his friend and wife cough to indicate the right anwsers, that's litteral Cheating. If it was a random guy fine, if it was on 1 or 2 questions, fine that happen, but someone (in this case, his wife and his best mate, suspicious, isnt it...) cough at EVERY SINGLE QUESTION, specifically after the contestant read the anwsers? Look at the last question, he doesnt know what's a Googol, his friend cough and suddently, it's gotta be the right anwser (even the presenter knew something was wrong) and it's the same pattern with every single question, and you still cant see what's wrong with it? There is a reason why all 3 were found guilty for fraud.
@@F14D5KL Well... I don't know, are you?
Think a little bit before you answer, please!
The problem with you is "he is cheating", so ok lets debunk the game.
I said I don't know the rules of the show and he said lots of times that he didn't know the answer and the show continued so I guess the show only ends when he answers wrong.
If someone tells him the answer what is he doing wrong answering? Hein?
IF SOMEONE TELLS HIM THE ANSWER WHAT IS HE DOING WRONG ANSWERING??? HE SHOULD STOP AND SAID EXCUSE ME BUT SOMEONE COUGHING THE ANSWER??? maybe but... I dont know. I wouldn't.
HE SAID LOTS OF TIMES THAT HE DIDNT KNOW THE ANSWER !!! The show only stops if he answers wrong (or no? I dont know the show or the rules).
If it was you there and I was coughing the answer for you what do you do? Nothing? Answer? Even if we are toghether in the show what are you doing wrong answering? You would stop and said "someone over there give me the answer coughing"?
The show should stop and the guy in the audience should put away or the presenter should stop the show and said the answer was not valid or something but no, they didnt do nothing and when they found out that they have to pay a million pounds... upss wait lets see what we could do not to pay. Lets see the show... ok someone coughing the answers and the guy answer its not valid.
The problem is the "cheating" they are saying... Why cheating? If it was not valid I agreed. Someone answer before you and its not valid. No prize. Goodbye.
What I do not understand is why no one has questioned how the family got so many attempts at the show.
there was an organisation which i cant remember the name of which specialised on getting people on the show through many loopholes (for reference all of this was completely legal, the the producers of the show also knew this existed but couldnt do anything about it), ingram and his family were frequent customers of them.

@@srwilson3s2k14 He was a dithering fool. But maybe that was used to create a diversion with his walleyish behaviour.
@@andypeterson3070 yes but when theres such money at stake no way anyone would act like this he can still go round the houses a little bit but at least give a impression he knows it and work a better way to get the cough. @@srwilson3s2k14 Yeah I get what your saying.
Wow never even heard of this. What a wild ride, and so well put together! Thanks for the upload
I used to watch this show all of the time. The contestants were always so smart and for the most part, they knew alot of the questions. This guy didn't seem to know any. He struggled on every one. The coughing made it obvious that he was cheating on top of the fact that he knew nothing. I know that production wanted to stop that show when it was happening but couldn't. They had to let it play out and take him to court which was the right call. But, my God, it's obvious he was cheating. His wife wasn't exactly quiet about it.
Yes, I am thinking the same. This man has very little general knowledge. Normal contestants are at least good at a couple of subjects. He does not know much history, art, pop culture yet he had the audacity to compete for £1M. Seemed he intended to cheat from the beginning.
Who won the case?
Makes you wonder how he passed his exams in the military.
To be fair, that's not true at all.
Even before the coughs, his first idea was the right one for many answers : Onassis, Cricket, Holbein, the Eden Hat ...
I agree to say that the cheating was obvious and that he was indeed clueless on some subjects, but telling that he hadn't any general knowledge is going too far.
his downfall was that he wasn't confident enough to pretend to know the answers..he admits not knowing them and then gets them right. That's dodgy AF
prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the Bible ua-cam.com/video/WJSW5CA47mA/v-deo.html
He definitely made himself look suspicious as, no denying. I think they would have been caught anyway though. The coughing after every correct answer is pretty clear.
Exactly, if he played it more coldly and decisively instead of flip flopping over answers and raising suspicion he would have got away with it.

Probably did, but the show must go on....handle it afterwards..
Oh I see someone can speak the fact here, thank you for your comment.I hope you don't mind if we get to know each other, you speak with so much wisdom.
If you've been watching this show closely for a long time, you'd notice that Ingram's behaviour is so much different than your regular contestant. A non-cheating contestant would never risk his/her money if they have absolutely no clue what the answer is. The norm is to take the money and not risk it especially if the money won is a huge amount already. Ingram has never heard of 'googol' and yet he was willing to risk £480K on it. It doesn't make any sense. And you can tell that he was drawing blanks on most of those questions too. Now, compare him to John Carpenter who won $1M in the US version and you'll see how different their approaches were. John's way is how an intelligent player plays.

@@nu-agegamer3548 he also produces great horror films!!!
@@donnn-ow4rj You think your funny, dad joke boy, you are not, honestly. He isn't THAT John Carpenter.
@@nu-agegamer3548 no ??? Really??? Have you ever heard of a joke??? Lol
Greed was their downfall. Could've walked away with decent money if they had only done it a couple times.
He was supposed to stop way before the million. So he’s the greedy one.
Yeah, they said if he had walked at 64 or even 125, probably wouldn't thought anything of it. After that, the producers got suspicious.
@@GustavoTeixeira-hu1ck of course he and his accomplices are guilty. It is obvious he did not know the answers. He just mumbled his way through it waiting for help. So many members of the same family shouldn’t be allowed to enter.
Gustavo Teixeira. So you’re just sitting there answering questions, notice someone’s coughing at certain answers and start going with the answers coughed at and you wind up winning the million dollars? That’s pretty convoluted. And it would still be cheating because you’re still getting help from an audience member - whether or not there was a prior conspiracy to cheat or not.
I'm shocked by how easy the million question was...
I didnt know a single answer to any of these questions except the last one. And knew it before it even showed the possible answers lol
when the host said, "you haven't been sure since question 2" 😅😂🤣
With facepalm 🤣
"God is it a Googol"?
*God coughs*
"Yup it's a Googol"!
What a drama!!
😂😂😃
Every body should know it's googol anyway. Why did they put an easy question on the million.
Rlly
How they cheat I can't understand 😕😕
What makes this even more crazy is it was a day before 9/11.
38.42 look at Chris tarrant blinking...he can't take it anymore how Charles keeps doing a turnaround on his answer lmfao
The guy taking half n hour to answer each question. Plus the coughing. Can’t believe they didn’t stop the episode completely during the quiz lol
Have you ever seen this show? People taking their time is the point of it and the rest is editing magic. Anything can sound as loud or silent as the producers want it to.
You can’t hear consistent coughing on correct answer. You can’t hear any at all between questions 10 and 14. Tecwen has never won anything significant in any quiz and makes an completely unrealistic accomplice. Tarrant also heard nothing suspicious on the night.
Ingram is clearly running through the answers to pick up any audience clues in their reaction.
TheBrabon1 this isn’t even an argument theirs to many moments to point out how obvious it was i mean anyone who says anything remotely different has some serious issues. But good plan tho lol
I also cannot believe the Host was oblivious to the coughing that he didn't stop the show and question the woman in the audience doing it and told the man he is cheating.
Vayank123 the host has come out and said many times all the clips we see our with enhanced sound on the coughing and with the clapping and music quieter when he was in their i can imagine its quite hard to concentrate on just the coughing as he is concentrating on the contestant answering the question then all the clapping would just drown out the coughing obviously its easy for us to say why didnt he hear it as we are looking and listening for it.
I’ve got to admit, the defence lawyer in Quiz put up an extraordinarily strong case
Chris Tarrant said he was disappointed that ITV didn’t show the prosecution’s closing statement
Unfortunately it is not a reflection of reality at all, even according to Chris Tarrant himself (Good Morning Britain); Tarrant says it is obvious they cheated, and he's spent hours with the fraud squad
It was half an hour of a courtroom drama it’s gonna not show the full story in order to keep the drama up
IKR ITS INSANE
Every defence lawyer is like that
The host was like you haven’t been sure since question #2
And the Oscar Goes to.......for one of the greatest actor of this decade
Even without the coughing - the way he reaches the answers & was behaving was highly suspicious. You can tell that Chris Tarrant was thinking it's wierd.
No Chris Said that he never suspected a thing
@@user-uq1fq6gs3i I said that Chris was thinking it was 'weird' - not that he suspected it. I think we can all agree that it's unusual for someone to guess that many answers in a row & risk that amount of money.
Kkk

At least the “cougher” sounded pretty legit. When the wife coughed it was so fake! She even put her hand on her chest. Could she make it any more obvious?

She ought have coughed more than usual or in another sequence to stop that. However, it is better the way it is, really.
40:45 40:58 43:01 wife academy award winning bad acting moments.
No she actually wanted him to quit at £125,000
Since that completely takes away all suspicions of cheating.
Three or Four questions with a cough is easy to get off scot free.
But all the way to the end is what destroyed them.
The last question got me on Transformers so I said Megatron.
Shouldve known how clueless that he didnt know who Craig David or Coldplay was lmao
I remember watching this when it was first shown on TV, my parents answered questions pretty well. They have never heard a song by Craig David music but they recongised the album title from the TV adverts and supermarket promotions.
I’m surprised it took the coughing to make people suspicious......surely the sheer fact a player was storming towards the prize completely “clueless” should’ve rang alarm bells
the luck was the alarm bells , the coughing was the evidence
He wasn’t clueless. Two sides to this story. He passed that Mensa test 👍

@@matthewgriffy exactly
Or maybe not. Tarrant has said in interviews the chaps in the monitoring room grew suspicious early on, and the Craig David moment raised suspicions even further so they immediately began reviewing the tapes once filming stopped. They found the evidence at the second viewing of the raw footage.
@@JacoWium someone done their research
Jaco Wium yeah they deffo knew earlier on, but it would’ve been a lot harder to prove in court. The fact that he played the last two questions in the manner he did made it 10x more obvious he was cheating, thus having a stronger case against him
Host: Charles, how are you feeling?
Charles: Waits for.cough.
And if it was: the producers during the show also got suspicious so they just had to take a break. They had to point a camera from where the coughing came and then they would see who was coughing and just had to remove him. But they did it go on while they easely could detect the person coughing a´d remove him. Even with the excuse tha the coughing was to loud and distracting without telling him they suspected him of helping the player. So at the end the producers who knew somethings was wrong during the game could react easy but decided not to. So, who can say even the head of the producers was also not in the game and would also get some money at the end? Cause they knew something was wrong but the head producer did nothing while, again, they easy can see who is coughing but do nothing. So maybe a lot more people where involved. And got some part of the money!
