I have ordered mine. I can’t wait to get it😎
i have ordered too but a long wait here in australia july or august how about you how long do you have to wait
You guys are rich.
@@gizmangr the dealer has promised me delivery by 9 April at the latest. (In Denmark)
How? This thing offers decent value compared to the competition!?@@silvery2850
@@mortenolsen3391 when did you put down the order?
I bought the 2021 when it came out, and everyone was raving about the improvements. Looks like they've done it again, but I have to say, I still love my 2021 version.
I just bought a 2023 and I noticed the clutch engagement point changes drastically as it warms up.
Can’t wait for the R9 based on this platform…
We are all waiting so patiently!
😂 🫵🏽🤡
World supersport is dropping the R6 after this year and the R9 track version is replacing it. So hopefully the street version will follow and come out in 2025. I hope at least haha
@@dylanswafford1301I call bs on track r9 why would they bring the r9 to track? It’s useless engine for track it can barely do 220-230kph
@@Nine.siixxxdiffeeent tunes and components man. Look at the r1 and the mt10 they have subtle changes you don’t see like titanium valves and I think shorter stroke not sure but su the changes. So more hp I bet out of the r9 but less torque than the mt09. I’m sure Yamaha knows what they are doing.
I can't be the only one that would like to see a fairing between the seat and the radiator. Much like the OG MT-10. In fact I was sad to see the MT-10 lose that fairing. But overall this bike is a MASSIVE improvement in looks, I also dig the seat.
The seat is much better. It's comfier and you now have a pillion perch to rest on as you accelerate.
Quickshifters work WAY smoother after you do the first oil change and put some full synthetic motul in them
The views are spectacular !
It's like riding a bike on another planet over there!
In the brazilian market, which is a big market for yamaha, its too bad that the brand doesnt want to invest here updating their models, the 09 is still the 2020 model and the 07 is still the FIRST 2016 MODEL, and they’re all assembled within the country, the only bike they brought the newer model is the mt03 which sells like crazy
that's a shame as they have all got steadily better. Is there much appetite for 600cc + machines in Brazil? Or is it mainly smaller capacity 125 to 400 cc bikes?
@@visordown yes there’s a lot of appettite for all kinds of bikes here, you should look up brazil’s bike culture even tho there are a lot of idiots in it xD. Mainly lower cc’s because of the utilitary pov and price, but for instance last year Brazil’s top 5 naked sportbikes sales are MT03 at 2500 registered, 1160 CB500s, 760 MT07’s and 750 MT09s. High CC sportbikes with fairings are also very popular, from the R15 to S1000rr which is also assembled here and sells like crazy.
The main reason yamaha and the other brands dont update their models if because of high taxing gov and burocracy i guess.
I also own a ‘22 MT09 and a ‘23 636 and sportbikes are getting popular again apparently through isle of man TT, social media, MOTO GP and unaffordable sportcar prices. Nice review btw
Love the looks of the new model, can't wait to see what the mt07 will look like.
You and me both!
Mt07, and mt03 have stayed the exact same unfortunately.
@@dylanswafford1301 thats sad, got the feeling they dont wanna mess with something thats still selling strong.
But would have made it better (in my opinion)
@@karsconijn1876agree. Well i guess i wasnt fully honest. The mt07 did get the new tft screen with the phone connectivity. But thats it. In the U.S. market atleast. I cant speak for Europe models lol
2:33 the suspention doesn't look firm enough, right?
Damn, don't even get to hear the motor the whole vid. Thanks for describing the sound with words though?
Picking mine up in 3 days can’t wait
Nice review and bike! What a superb place to ride, epic!!
Great review...always appreciate your comments.
Torn between buying a new mt09 or waiting for the R9. I wanna upgrade 🥲
My deposit has been paid, 2024 MT-09SP. Can't wait. Fingers crossed we get enough in the country for me to get one.
what is your quote delivery date?
May, maybe
@kwaka140 that's early. I heard the SP release was june 👍
Does new SP has steering damper?
@@MrKaurT I don't think so
I have a 2022 MT09SP and it has none of the shortcomings Toad had with his bike. I must have gotten lucky and really love the bike (looks aside).
One of the good things about my 2022 was the ergonomics. You wasn’t pitched forward putting more stress on wrists and neck trying to hold your head up. So this change is not good for ergonomics. It seems they are trying to make a sport bike out of the MT09. The taller slightly wider tank design in conjunction with the headlight area shape changes not good. These shapes forced the airflow out and down away from the rider. The lower flat top tank allows the airflow up into the rider’s middle and to swirl up underneath rider’s helmet. This also isn’t an improvement in my mind. Ride them back to back and you’ll see this.
Here I thought the VMax or the RD350/400 were the most famous Yamaha naked bikes. Thanks Toad.
Here I thought the Yamaha VMax or the Yamaha 350/400 was the most famous Yamaha naked bike. Thanks Toad.
The Japanese are masters. ❤️
Nailed this one for sure!
Masters of torque* haha I had to
Excellent vid. You didn't mention cruise control? I think I heard somewhere that the new base model has it. If so, I'm certainly getting one.
Yep, there's not much to say, it's a one button arm/engage system with a rocker switch to adjust the speed. It works is about all I can say! :-)
Clutch, I find my Tracer 9 GT, is the same as you describe, grubby. I find it tough to get a smooth launch unless I do a track-style launch.
For me one of the selling points was the super moto style riding position so I'm disappointed that they've changed it.
@visordown
So with the quickshifter, it actually interrupts the ignition spark to automatically rpm match and up or downshift. So don't let off the throttle when you upshift, and let all the way off when you downshift. This is coming from a friend of Arnett industries, and dreyer yamaha. Suzuki, and kawasaki of Indy.
My personal bike is the 2024 honda transalp, and the quickshifter does the same as the new yamaha one. However. The mt09 and the sp models have a much smoother QS than the honda, and it feels a little more heavy duty.
I will be calling around to get mine this week. Dont have one local so Florida or NC,SC maybe GA
Im confused, the other shots that you are showing with the modified exhaust, is that the latest version too?
U have a dealer option for akrapovic exhaust
I wonder if my akra exhaust for my 22 will fit in this one
Great Review 👍Fantastic Bike
Thanks for the feedback and for watching!
best looking version
Had before 2016 mt 09 not sure if im coming back.
I had an FZ09 in 2015, it was an absolute blast to ride. I'm sure the 2024 MT09 is a dream to ride, but damn the design reminds me of the street fighter bike scene of the 90s, when they made naked bikes out of crashed sport bikes. Add to that horrendous colors and its just so disappointing. I love Yamaha, unfortunately there's nothing really in their lineup that is truly sexy (The T700 properly modified looks good), but overall their lineup looks a bit immature, and looks more like plastic manga toys than real motorcycles. They would gain from really revisiting their heritage (a bit like Triumph did). The XSR900 looks much better, but than put it next to a Kawasaki Z900RS and again, the yamaha will look a bit cheap (even if its high quality).
Great Review!
Now... I konw it's not very likely since the R1 is discon the MT10 will prob be the same. But I RLY RLY want one with this styling! I'd buy it at most one minute after beeing anounced.. :)
I’m not sure the MT10 is going anywhere just yet
@@visordown Rly hope ur right :) I did a photoshop with the new MT09 parts on the current MT10SP and I didnt get less excited... XD
Was hoping for some more interesting colours with this gen. Hopefully they’ll do some variants
Yamaha tends to keep it fairly moody, esp with the MT range - it would be interesting to see some colour for sure.
Yes, The accent colors are terrible.
How's the vibration at the handlebar at various RPM? I rode an older MT that had high frequency buzzy vibration. Maybe it was a lemon?
No issues on this one, and we did some longer stints at higher speeds.
@@visordown Thanks. Can't wait to see one. Too bad they don't do demo anymore in Canada....
Of all the Japanese middle weight bikes the coolest and the most sexiest is the Z900 no doubt about it.
Lots of doubts... Haha.
whats the song at 11:03 ?
How does it compares to Street Triple?
Not as focused and with more of a fun factor you don't get with the Street Triple.
9:12 sounds like my Tenere clutch - maybe it's a Yamaha thing?
Centurion's mask Toad? Surely you mean a Samurai's? I thought that was the look they were going for tbh haha 🤔
I don't think that'd look out of place on Russel Crowe!
Well, maybe nowadays it would! :-)
Does this mean the 2023 model would sound better than the 2024?
No, it's the other way around.
Is it now easier to get your knee down? Is the seating position sporty enough to compete with the street triple?
No idea, we only rode it on the road
Not worth a upgrade from my gen 3
The mt09 sp or street triple?
Same question here, I think I will go with the Triumph I guess due to material finishes, build quality, brand and most important for me high redline ❤️
@bogdanm7873 I'm leaning that way too. Although here in Asia the triumph is alot more expensive
@@chriswest2290 funny thing in Romania MT09 SP is more than Street Triple RS by 8-900 Euro
@bogdanm7873 it's a no brainer. Go with the triumph.
The front looks even worse now 😂. Giant white plate looks hideous.
Which white plate?
@@visordownactually it looks to be on one but not the other. It looks maybe to be a fly screen. Possibly covering the speedo.
nice video!
I just might swap my SP for the new base model, finally a decent face!
Just wait for the SP, the new styling in that colour scheme is gonna look mint! 🤟🏼
This or Monster??
If you are asking, the Yamaha will be easier. Monster is a big twin, you either hate it or love it.
It's perfect
Pretty much!
That's a bit of a reach in my opinion.
Still lacks a few things example braided lines, brembos rear brakes, heated grips, could look better, things still look tacky and unfinished, ohlins up front, could do with more power and torque.
So in my opinion it's quite a distance from perfect. And this is me talking about the sp version not even this base model
Think you meant audibly not orally pleasing. 😅
Cyan color would be cool at night but with sun light it looks like baby blue 🫠
The SP is the best looking!
@@visordown are we going to see your review soon or we will have to wait for it ??
Oral pleasure > Aural pleasure
A few what!!?!? 😭😭
They ruined the SP with that stupid keyless ignition.
grey color are so boring, need more colors
Yamaha like to keep it simple, the motto is 'The Dark Side of Japan' after all!
agree, i dont like any of the colors
Williams Nancy Thompson Linda Thompson Sarah
The front looks like a Nuda . Cool .
It’s a better look than before!
Ruined :| Should have kept the supermoto style.
I love the features but it's ugly as f... So ugly I might choose z900 over that.
Don't do it the z900 close up looks a mess to much going on gaudy glitz
What's with the Mt09 in the low light with all these better specd items.
Akro exhaust, yamaha bar end mirror/ gillies.. And I think some aftermarket rear sets or maybe just foot pegs been changed to black and the yamaha brake levers/gillies collab similar to the mirrors
That's highlighting the accessories you can bolt on either at the dealer or post-sale.
@@visordown ohh okay.. They should sell it that way haha. It makes a night and day difference in astetics
The icon becomes even more iconic as gen4 - for me, the new SP will be my next bike 😃👏🔥💯🏁
We can’t wait for the launch of that, should be this spring!
@@visordown Any word on when that wil be dropping?
@@hendrikjdebMarch
Launch in the spring in the UK we think but not confirmed
This was the last bike I expected Yamaha to update, and man it's such a great update for basically the same price.
Feels a bit painful to have gotten a gen3 just recently last year :D
But I guess I'll manage until the R9 comes out.
Had a test ride on the 2024 model, though I was looking at a new 2023 one with a £1500 discount. The bike is really outstanding - far better than i was expecting. I really like the new indicator switching, it works very well for me and I hope others follow the lead. The engine is such a peach even compared to the Triumphs of which I'm on my 3rd different new one since 2020. The best bikes are the ones you test ride and then just can't wait to have another go on - and this was one of those. However, it was also very uncomfortable for me (I have spinal injuries and AS) so it's a deal breaker. Such a shame - the dealer put a fantastic offer together for me and I had to turn it down.
Would this bike be too tall for me who is 165cm? I've always loved the MTs, can't wait to get my hands on this bike
if only they could make the MT-10 look good. Fantastic bike and engine but I can't get over how ugly it is.
Nice Bike, But quite Motorcycles are Horrible! Vents to make you hear the Motorcycle wow. Motorcycles are not Cars. We need some exhaust sound to let motorists know were there. 25+yrs of Riding and your all Brainwashed to think that a Moderate Loud Exhaust sound doesnt save some accidents and lives with oblvious Motorists not hearing you beside them.Especially European Motorists who need to Travel out of town as Europe is so congested like England there all about small cars and quite motorcycles righto.
The clutch on my 2022 MT-09 is the same, nothing until the last 15mm
I didn't remember it being like that on the long term bike I had a couple of years back.
why does he sound like he is talking from a spaceship
It was blowin a gale and super windy, so the mic was a little crowded! 🌬️
made beautiful vs spontaneous beautiful.....
Does it have a steering damper ?
Respect ♥️🫡
Cheers!
Don't buy this bike..it's frame is weak..videos and pictures on internet.
I have the gen 3 sp and really happy with it no niggles so far but id like a test ride on this to see the difference.
Those colored wheels Yuk. Big negative on resale IMHO.
I hatenthe front. The last one was so much better. It looks les agressive.
Does this actually be a good one for a 6’ rider. Anyone
Where can you find those lower profile Yamaha mirrors that I keep seeing in the B roll?
that's a very beautiful bike for me , i love MT-09
Does the new SP has steering damper also?
Man those bars 6:00 look Harley high.
Speed Triple 765 RS or MT-09 hmm
Oral or auditory?
I have to admit that I miss it when the occasional goof would interrupt T’s reviews. Ah the memories. Cheers. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
Yeah, they had this area roped off pretty well!! 😅😅😅
hmm nice, now I just got to wait for the xsr 900 to get these updates. Hopefully next year. 🤞
The XSR got it's revamp a little while back, it might be a year or so before that's tweked again.
Already put my money for 2024 SP, have to wait till July but 😔
What region are you in?
Waiting for the SP will be a delightful upgrade from my 2016 first-generation MT-07.
The fourth generation MT-09 is the ideal choice due to its comprehensive refinements.
Man I am excited for you, the MT09 is so much more meaty than an 07
We are all waiting patiantly for that!
How does it compare to the new 990 Duke?
Better value but we haven’t tested the 990 yet.
Did they fix the clutch basket issue ?
It gets more dogteeth now and engages sweeter. The Q/S is better on this bike too.
Cant wait to get mine and slap it a "coca cola can" as a exhaust tip
You have to change the full exhaust. You can't get just a slip on
@@amococ2487 i know, i might go for the SC crt
How much will we have to wait for the sp ?
The way I understand it, USA gets the SP in May or June
Coming to the UK in the spring we think.
