- The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 continues the smart flip phone revolution -- one that has reached the mainstream in more ways than one. After finding out that I'm actually a big fan of the larger Galaxy Z Fold 4, I make sure to spend a week with the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and see if it's still everything that I enjoyed last year. Is it normal to have some settings that you cannot go in without the paid version? Im going to support but just want to know if the app icon in the bottom gonna work.

I've had the flip 4 now for 2 weeks, no issues at all! very well built and really is a practical phone. This phone is definitely here to stay!
I just got my pre-order flip 4 a couple of days ago. It's a great phone and my first foldable phone. Coming from a long time user of Apple models its a breath of fresh air to use something new and unique. I forgot how much I loved the customization you can do with Samsung phones. Great video Josh!

@@joiazs nope it works out pretty well mostly because you'll have something the iPhone doesn't a cover display vs the thing crapple calls dynamic island
Just got my Z Flip 4 today, and so far I've had an incredible experience. It's quite compact, which is a huge upgrade for me from my Samsung S21 FE

I got the Z Flip 4 a couple of days ago. I was a long time iPhone user and after all these years, finally, i can feel the definite upgrade here! Beyond the unique experience of the folding screen, this thing is blazingly fast and fluid in any operation!! And i came from iPhone 12, not from a very old iPhone. Lots of customization and features that i didn't even thought that was available on a smartphone... Apple is years behind in software and lightyears in hardware!!

Isnt it annoying having to open the phpne all the time to randomly check social media for example? Or can you leave the phone "open" and lock the screen when not using it?
@@joiazs look, if you are using your phone a lot the open/close thing will be annoying. You can always leave it open on the table and you can have your always on display as on any other Android device (the iPhone 13 has not AoD), but in my opinion, the Z Flip is better for users who want to reduce their screen on time or for those (like me) who are moderate users. I usually open and close my Z Flip about 30-40 times during the day and I make most of the phone stuff on the outer screen. But if you compare the Z Flip 4 to iPhone 13… there is no comparison! The Z Flip 4 is a full fat flagship, with a modern 120hz LTPO AMOLED, better build quality and the latest Qualcomm chip. Plus it is a foldable, so a whole different using experience. The iPhone 13 has good cameras and a last years fast processor but nothing else! The screen is dated and is too pricey today for a year old device.
After 10 months of using my z flip 3, the device has been great for me. The only reason I would upgrade to the 4 ever would be storage and battery, yet due to my habit of backing up my photos and carrying a portable battery pack, I decided to keep it and wait. I am glad to see the improvements of the Z Flip 4, yet I love my phone (Z Flip 3) cause it is in my favorite shade of green.
hi i just wanted to askh how your zflip 3 is holding up after 10months ? are there any problems with the crease after this or is it still in good condition ?
@@Zlevkun the original screen protector started bubbling up by the left side but other than that it's as good as new
@@Zlevkun my screen cover bubble up... however Samsung was able to replace the screen cover fee of charge..as for the crease...still working like I purchase it yesterday....had it for a year so for..the Tom Browne edition 256 GB.....

I received my flip 4 and still using my apple Pro max as main phone but I cannot put the flip down! It makes using the phone so much fun as compared to apple. I love it when I can use Spotify as an alarm and that the phone is so much lighter than the apple ^^
I used to think I'd want a Flip. I still think that type of folding phone is the future. But I just got the Z Fold 4 (my first foldable thanks to Samsung's great trade-ins and preorder bonuses). I have to say, I can't imagine going back to a smaller screen. I just love using this big screen and being able to put in back into my pocket.
Whats the battery like with heavy usage with screen folded open?

It's particularly appealing to the 30+ crowd, but I've noticed the Flip has appealed to other audiences as well (it appears to be a big hit with women, iPhone users seeking something 'new' and 'different', also people who just want a phone that's more portable and pocket-friendly.
But I can also see the appeal of the Fold 4 for users who want to carry a tablet experience on the go, and have it combined with a mobile form factor that's familiar. I'm sure there are other reasons to go bigger instead of smaller, but that's what stands out for me.
It's a great strategy for Samsung to have their foldables available in both vertical and horizontal folding configs. I can definitely see the Z line becoming the S line at some point in the future. And I think this is Samsung's goal. The Z line is the experimental premium, the S line is standard (or stable) premium. Just a beer-induced hunch 🙃
After-thought: Perhaps that's when we'll see rollables from Samsung? Maybe Z Flip becomes the new S2X/S3X line, and Fold either joins the S line and/or becomes the Z Roll? Who knows what's going on in Sammyland? lol. There's some pretty impressive innovations going on, that's for sure.
I've had mine a few days as well. I found putting the battery into "light" performance mode has helped with battery consumption. Out of the box the battery life is so-so even compared to my 2 year old S20 FE

Loving my Flip4, was a bargain at 999 with a Galaxy watch 5 Pro lte thrown in. I use Cover OS app to get more use of the cover screen, can even watch tiny youtube videos without unflipping my phone.
If you're getting the Flip 4, just be wary of the screen protector bubbling up at the crease. I finally removed mine on my Flip 3 today at Ubreakifix AKA Asurion for free. Took only 2 minutes. It was only getting bigger and annoying to look at. We'll see how it holds up without one but I do take really care of my phones and Gorilla Glass Victus is very scratch resistant.
Had I got the screen protector replacement, it would just bubble up again after 6 to 12 months depending on much I use it which surprisingly isn't much. I think if you only use one phone, you need to go for the Flip 4 over 3 just from the battery life alone. Since I carry two phones daily, I don't need the battery life upgrade.
My biggest concern without a screen protector is if the black cracks starts developing at the crease? From what I've read, Flip 3 is durable enough without it unlike the previous two gens. It is water-resistant and the display was much stronger than the previous ones, so I'm guessing most likely not. Be a rare case if it happens.
If it does crack, then c'est la vie. They're just material things. Will have it recycled. Warranty expires tomorrow. Will be using my other four phones that still works fine in 2022. I do believe Flip 3 will hold up well without a screen protector. If it doesn't, then I know for sure it will be the last Z Flip I'll ever buy. I'll stick to the Motorola Razr line. I much prefer their cover displays.
My Flip 3's crease does feel less shallower without the screen protector. It actually feels nicer. Our screen protector for these foldable flip phones is basically when they're closed.
They put a little system in the side of the crease for the s reen. Definitely more solid than the bubbling screen of the 3.

man you love alot of Korean dramas cool also I took the plunge with the flip 4 myself it's my first foldable actually and I'm absolutely loving it😁 oh and that reminds me the trade in deals don't only apply to flip it applies to other galaxy devices as well
I bought both there flip and fold I use the flip for work and school where I can't use the fold.. and I use the fold when I'm off.. fold is big for work and the flip is small and perfect

S22 loses on battery life bigtime. Thats why im now hesitating whether to go for iphone 13 or samsung zflip 4. Just curious if its not annoying having to open the phone all the time when you randomly want to check social media for example. I think ive read that you can answer a call without flipping indeed... Im not sure which to go for as im not sure if flipping will annoy me at some point

I am still satisfied with my z flip 3. Since i am not heavy user. My wife likes it also she can put it in small purse. And the coolest thing is it is eye catching.
It's a great phone. Samsung defines innovation. And flex mode has many uses.
I'm definitely getting a z flip when I can upgrade from my s22 ultra which is just to big and I don't use the s pen as much as I thought

0:35 Myself included. I grew up with flip phones, and I'm also sick and tired of *_GIANT_* phones, so this compact form factor appeals to someone like me.
I own the Z Flip 3, and as someone who doesn't spend all day on the phone, I have not experienced any problems with my battery. There isn't enough difference between the Flip 3 and this one to warrant or justify an upgrade
Battery lasts around 20% longer, and you can get it for maybe $100 out of pocket and u can gain free buds2 pro with a code (ppl selling codes for $10)
Its a nice compact device. Bought the flip 3 for my wife, she loves the functionality she gets out of the foldable screen. The battery life is good if you're not a power user, if you use your phone a lot then the battery is disappointing. After a year now the phone is with Samsung because the screen protector started cracking/peeling at the crease, it would make an annoying noise while folding the phone close. Apparently this is something only Samsung can fix, anybody else trying to fix it will void its warranty.
I just picked one up on Amazon they had an early Black Friday special cost 859.99 for the 256 MB and 799.99 for the Zflip 4 payments are 35.84 for two years with an 88 downpayment. The 1 major downer of this phone is no Dex. I have an S21 plus though so will use that for my Dex on my PC. I picked up 2 Otterbox cases on Vine for this phone I don't want to take any chances of breaking it. I thought bout getting the Google 7 pro as it's the same cost, but I am deeply entwined in the Samsung Ecosystem with over 200 purchased Themes and Apps.

I traded in my S20 for the Flip 4 and love it! It's more nostalgic for me to be using a flip phone again and so far I don't have any complaints!

Hey Joshua love your content...but need help, I am a Type-1 and have been able in the past to have a widget display on my watch from Deacon. The issue that I am having is the fact tried doing again since I have a new Z4, G5 Pro. There's no way I can get it to be sent to the watch. If you have time will appreciate a hint. Thank you.
If folded the sound button is reversed. So louder is still up and quiter is still down,
i think some android apps can be installed to add more widgets to the cover screen.
Isnt the gap necessary tho? Cases fill the gap up usually so if there was no gap they wouldnt close properly, especially with heavy duty cases. You could mak the case flush with the phones screen ofc, but that would provide a lot less protection. Also i dont think youd want the screen touching when its closed and making the edges of the phone itself raised would be pretty counterintuitive and ugly looking. Im sure theyll figure out dust resistance for it eventually tho.
Loving my samsung z flip 4 but i still love my Samsung note 20's camera and graphics when im playing genshin. Otherwise, i have no complaints. It's so refreshing how small and convenient they feel on my hands being a Note user for years.

I have one word for Samsung lazy in making real improvements on both foldable products by practically controlling the market was leaning on the flip but opted on the s22 Ultra instead. Enjoy your UA-cam videos very informative

@@mathieudecola5645 iPhone 14 Pro & pro Max has a A16 chip! The only one still using the A15 chip is iPhone 14 & 14 plus models.
Is there a holster that fits onto one half of it that has a spring loaded pocket clip to ensure you don't drop it? And make it fit more securely in your hand? Y'know like the Motorola krazor...? And so many other flip phones that were perfect? Until trying to stuff a tablet into your pocket went mainstream brainfart drop and crack it up mania? Or should I say....marketing?

I’m pretty sure you could add that app you wanted to the cover screen. I think I saw a video of someone doing something similar.
Flossy Carter's video names the app and he actually shows UA-cam on the 2nd screen unfortunately I've forgotten the name.
I want one but not until they put flagship cameras & battery on it! Maybe in the next 2 years while i hold on to my S22U!

@@columbuscowboy2522 yep,it s amazing ! It s wayyy better than what everyone made it look like to be. Everyone talked about the drawbacks like camera and battery but they re actually really good. In real life all you notice is quality battery, really good and fast processor ,vibrant and wonderful camera that doesn t give you great zoom shots , really smooth and sharp screen. And, you don t see the crease nor feel it unless you want to.
It is simply the best.
Samsung has released some breakthroughs on their phones, one of which is a foldable phone. But, I don’t know why. It never occurs to me that I would trade my iPhone for Samsung.
I have the flip 3 and whenever I'm trying to take a photo using the cover glass and I double tap the screen, it doesn't show the entire frame of the camera and just defaults to the cropped in version. Anyone know why? thanks

Downgrade for battery, cameras, no S pen. I honestly don't see this phones porpoise
Basically what others have said -- the Ultra has the S Pen and better cameras for sure, but then you're dealing with the larger size phone when the Flip can get compact. The Flip does have the better processor, but it's not leaps and bounds better that you should totally disregard the Ultra in that department.

It all depend on how you sue a phone really, if you like pictures or battery life, I have seen that it a ncie device but it lack thign that should be in it like better cam, they had a side by side with a S22 and and some time the S22 is better but then they beat it in other ways. Just say this to you, do you needa new phone or upgrade or do you think yoru phoen good for now, I mean next year they come otu with new one and from the Flip3 and Flip4 it didn't change much. I came froma S10e which I miss realy, I went with a S22 which i do like and the refresh rate is nice just not to sure on ti eyt, it hasn't been a week, wondering if should have gone with a S22+. As for the flip don't think it all that good yet for me without missing features, all I can say do you need a phone or are you just following everyone else.

Wow! We've become a generation of complainers. We've been coddled and spoiled so much that we rather complain that we almost dropped our phone twice because we were trying to do it with one hand instead of doing the obvious and using two hands. Have we become that lazy or that spoiled?
Wasn't a complaint, it was just an anecdote. Ease of use is a metric, so I shared how it worked for me.

Here is the think with foldables. When you see this kind of reviews you wanna buy it. After you buy it, you realize that you don't need something like this. Also flex mode is overrated, just help you in some photos situations.. I had fold 3 and returned. The problem with this phones ia that when they are flexed you can't do almost anything. We live in the era of texting. You can't text fast on the flip, nor the fold!!!
Also the battery and charging are ridiculously weak
@@clariSax90 u can text like normal phones for flip, and fold 3 had narrow screen but fold 4 is wider and hopefully fold 5 gets wider too. And their battery life lasted better than 22 ultra
@@vdvehe4044 fold 4 is not wide enough. Battery is almost half lasting especially when you use the big screen for fold.
50 % of my typing is Swype. The other 50 is voice dictation. So yes, I can type fast with this
@@clariSax90 they did a test agasint s22ultra in unfolded screen and it lasted 30min more. Hmm yeah ig its still not wide enough but its actully same width as iphone13mini. But yeah hopefullly gets wider

I think I'm going to wait a few more generations until the battery can provide 8-10 hours SOT.
You're looking at your phone for 8-10h a day? Open this phone does easily 5-6h which is more than enough when watching videos with max settings. You'll get more of course with less power hungry apps/tasks but closed I've been able to get over 20h SoT due to the smaller cover screen.

Every year people review phones for their camera not the actual phone...you're buying a phone not a DLSR camera. Its like if the phone is great and feature rich, it will get shit on cause of not so great camera performance.
I've had this phone for 3 days now and I will say, when I have a friend that's extra chatty and constantly texting, I'll just leave the phone open during that conversation. Ain't nobody got time to flip this thing open and closed constantly. lol. flip fatigue is real.
