Yes. The source material isn't really the stuff of sitcoms. A film adaptation was sufficient if you want an uplifting comedy.

I am the head of the house. I am the man of the family. I don't have to take all of the money out of the account because my wife knows God gave me final authority of my family. She won't spend money unless she knows I would approve of it. I love my wife like Christ loves the church. I would die for my wife. She knows I have her best interest at heart and she would never, as a woman of God, defy my leadership. To counsel otherwise is not biblical. It feeds into this horrible toxic modern society to enable women to operate independent of her husband.
