Not really. One uranium mag needs 9 iron and 5 copper and 1 u238. With lvl2 upgrade you 3 shot medium biters, so the cost will be 1.5 copper, 2.7 iron and 0.3 uran, while it will yield 2 ore. So it will eat more then it yields. It would be cool if it would work.

Just nuke all excess coal. Collect in buffer and nuke it once it is full, it should give you a lot of time if buffer is big enough.
