Did u do this upgrade for your magnum yet? I have a 05 & 06, I want to upgrade both as well but I’m being told so many different things about what gear to go w/ & what’s needed. I wanted to go 3.09 but I’m but told the 3.06 would be better
@@moparcardi I have not yet I’m in Ohio and we are still getting snow. My car has been in storage for the last 3 months. Soon as it warm up I’ll be back at it.
I have a 2006 charger srt8 did a transmission swap now front coupler that connects to transmission is and has to be a 6 pattern coupler and rear one that connects to differential is an 8 pattern coupler question is could I just find a drive shaft with the 3 pattern that goes into the 6 pattern coupler towards the transmission and connect it to the one that’s on right now witch is a 4 pattern thing witch connects to the 8 pattern coupler at the rear . basically so front will connect to the 6 pattern coupler and rear let it be factory with the 8 pattern coupler
Is there a way to use a scat pack diff the zf on a nag one car like that … I know it bolts in my question is can you use the nag one driveshaft and customize the rear part to fit the zf 8 bolt flange. Ink no is they sell a 1200 one piece. There has to be a way …
Like the install instruction video. I have a 2007 charger R/T and want to put the 2015 Charger 3.09 LSD 230mm on. Will I need the SRT axels, hubs? Anything else I’m overlooking?
I don't know if that's a direct swap because 2014 and before are 226mm and I believe have to vertical mounting posts as opposed to one vertical like the 226 have. If you're going from open you will definitely need axles and the driveshaft coupler. I've heard of people getting away without the hubs but if you're going to do it all do it all you know what I'm saying.
Im guessing you need to program with predator etc so theres no limp mode? Or does it work right out the gate after the swap? I have an 07 charger srt8 and i want LSD
You definitely will need a HP tuners or Diablo or something on that line to change the gear ratio in the computer otherwise you will get errors, check engine light and more than likely limp mode.
@@BigOdawgg93 it all depends on what you want to do with it. I ran 3.91 for a long time. It's awesome off the line but if you have an automatic you pretty much eliminates your first year and your going to be pulling about 3,800 RPM around 80-85 mph. The 3.73 is the next step down but they are but awful expensive because they're rare. Next time from that is the 3.06 which is what I just put in. I haven't had a chance to run it yet cuz I'm working out of a transmission control module issue. But that should give you a good running gear as well as freeway speeds with limited slip. If you're not worried about going with limited slip and okay with staying with open and you don't have to upgrade the axles and there are different Geary ratios available. I have a set of 3.23 gears that I think would actually be just about ideal for an automatic with 3.55 being about the max for a daily driver but in order to run those you would have to get it custom installed and differential rebuilt. I differential guy said if I bring him the differential they would charge me 480 to rebuild it with the new gears that I supply. If you go that route I suggest checking out a post on Challenger talk where a guy figured out that the GM ZO6 clutch packs are the exact same size as the dodges only you get twice as many friction surfaces. It looked like an awesome upgrade and if you're going to have it all torn apart an extra like 400 bucks on top of that is definitely worth the longevity. I picked up my 3.06 off of car-parts.com for 375 with 40k miles on it. Given it's a huge death and I don't really know what abuses it has been through but I'm able to sell my 3.91 for almost double that to cover my cost and if it shot then I'm going to wind up rebuilding it anyway and I'll just go with my 3.23 gears. If you have an automatic I would say go with the 3.06 if you're going out of the box. If you can find the 3.73 cheap you can give that a shot but I still think if you want to go fast you're going to be hurting on your freeway speeds and especially freeway gas mileage but I can tell you that 3.91 was a kick in the ass off the line LOL
@@yotamaster760 Where did you get your 3.06 LSD? I have a 3.06 open diff in my 2014, but I want to upgrade to the LSD. Also is it just direct swap for me? Or would I need axles, ect?
For my 08 charger do I need the rear half of the driveshaft? They seem identical from previous, and if so what year Deiveshaft do I need, 09-14 challenger?
No. Just get a new LSD for a 6.1. Have your performance shop put it in. Its not worth DIYing you gotta have the proper tools a lift and hours of time. Let a pro get you one. Dont let any mechanic do this go to a reputable place that will also tune your vehicle.
For sure that 3.64. one horse was a V6 I did that upgrade and it was perfect. You really don't need the limited slip in the V6 and that diff and unopened off eBay is like 200 bucks and it is a straight swap. It will really wake that car up and you won't lose a whole bunch of gas mileage
Thank you for sharing this. I want to upgrade my 2005 Dodge Magnum R/T differential as well. Very useful information.

Did it put your car in limp mode
Must be a 2008 Charger SRT8. The 2009-2010 Charger SRT8, 300c SRT8 and Challenger SRT8 all came with the Getrag 226 LSD rear differential.
Close, it's a 06.
Performance specs say 3.06 open
3.06 open, 2011-14 came with getrag 3.06 lsd and manual 3.91
got a part number on that longer bolt or the specs for the front mount?
do you know if a scat pack differential will be a direct in a 2006 chrysler srt8?
It won’t fit because scats use zf trans and years prior to 15 used the nag1
I have a 2006 charger srt8 did a transmission swap now front coupler that connects to transmission is and has to be a 6 pattern coupler and rear one that connects to differential is an 8 pattern coupler question is could I just find a drive shaft with the 3 pattern that goes into the 6 pattern coupler towards the transmission and connect it to the one that’s on right now witch is a 4 pattern thing witch connects to the 8 pattern coupler at the rear . basically so front will connect to the 6 pattern coupler and rear let it be factory with the 8 pattern coupler
What did you end up doing?
So front coupler is an 8 pattern one and rear coupler is a 6 that the shaft connects too ???
U need to do an update on this
Will a 2018 scat pack differential fit in a 2007
R/T ??

Excellent job y'all, I'm loving the upgrade.
If I already have a 2012 and up hemi would I need to also change the axels and rear half of the drive shaft or is it optional
So wat kind of hubs did u use an wat spline on axles
2013 challenger srt8
Will it not need the TCM from the 2012 SRT

did you end up doing the 3.09 LSD in trying to do it to my srt bro
Any aftermarket axles that will match that differential?
yes there are.
Or the TCM FROM THE DONAR CAR
Thank you for this video. I wanted to point out the 3.09 is for 2015+. 2014 and before is a 3.06 ratio Getrag 226mm.
what would be a good one for an 2006 r/t ?
