Here are 10 PS4 games that provide next-gen experiences when played on the Playstation 5. These improvements include 4K support as well as the option to play in 60fps.
In order to see the differences in gameplay please watch this video in the highest quality possible, preferably a laptop would be best. Don't forget to choose 2160p60 in the settings. Please do not watch this on a tiny little cellphone and tell me you cannot see a difference🤦🏻♂️
Playstation 5 includes a feature called game boost which offers increased loading speeds and improved or more stable frame rates for Playstation 4 games. If the PS4 game has an option to run at an uncapped frame rate then most likely it will be able to reach 60fps on the PS5.
For PS4 games that were originally capped at 30fps, Sony has recently released a patch that allow these games to run at 60fps on Playstation 5.
Game boost is enabled automatically on the Playstation 5 so no need to turn it on.

Sekiro is perfect at 60fps. The combat is amazing, definitely one of my best games of all time

Except that sekiro runs at an unlocked frame rate across last gen consoles. It’s not 30 fps.

Nier Automata is another good example. It was never locked 60 on PS4 Pro with occasional loading stutter. On PS5 it's now really smooth.

Do I buy the PS5 disc or the PS4 disc variant. Do they perform the same?
Ex. I just got Guardians of the Galaxy and Ghost of Tsushima (PS5 disc) Should I bought then in PS4 disc instead? I'm thinking if I will get the same performance at a lower cost.
@@Neakhiz13 congrats on landing one! Yea so it can be a little confusing at first, but both digital and disk perform the same. As far as ps4 disks and ps5 disks, it's good you got ghost of tsushima ps5 edition, otherwise if you had gotten the ps4 disk it would cost you 10 bucks to upgrade and get the ps5 version through the ps store. But than games like the last of us 2, you buy the ps4 disk version and when you put it in to download, you'll get the update installed with it for free so the performance is that of ps5. Same goes with God of war, I got a used ps4 disk version and when I installed it I got the updated upgraded version of it to perform on the ps5. I tell ya, I'm experiencing all these PlayStation classics for the first time on the ps5, honestly the funnest gaming experience I've ever had. Guardians of the galaxy is a blast btw

Awesome list! I would also like to add Infamous Second Son and days gone to this list. Both games have PS5 upgrades and now run at locked and silky smooth 60 frames per second with the maximum pixel output Allowed by PS4 and PS4 Pro. It's really transformative the way these games look and feel to play at 60 frames per second on PS5. The backwards compatibility from PS4 games is quite underrated, because there are still a lot of people out there who mainly game on Xbox who don't even know that the PS5 actually does this. Its crazy that some of these end up looking and playing more "next-gen" than actual next-gen games.
Completely agree with you about these games playing more like next-gen than some of the "next-gen" games out there. Backwards compatibility really does add new life to these old games. It's like I'm playing them again for the first time🙂
Infamous didnt get a next gen update it already had a 60fps target on ps4 pro
@@Pointman11111 so did Killzone shadow Fall. The Last Guardian did too until it was patched. There are a few games that had 60 frames-per-second modes for PS4 Pro but failed to actually achieve that Target consistently. No reason they shouldn't be mentioned here. Infamous Second Son did not run that well at 60 frames per second. Now it runs perfectly

Despite owning a ps5, I didn't even bother buying ps5 games as they feel like a downgrade to me compared to ps4 pro games that were already 60fps now playing in BC mode. I feel we will only ever get this kind of smoothness when we play a last gen game on a current gen console. I'll start picking ps5 games when I purchase the ps5 pro. My 146 physical ps4 games on my ps5 will tide me over for now (I only have 13 30fps games)

Great video! One great thing about these games still being PS4 titles technically, is it allows for more storage options. I'm grateful for the wide variety of PS5 enhancements/upgrades to PS4 titles that are being released, but that internal SSD storage is hurting!
Yeah man tell me about it. My external hdd is almost full with ps4 games and I’m constantly running out of storage with my ssd for ps5 games🤦♂️getting tired of having to delete and redownload games all the time.
Next year ssd gen 4 will be cheaper
These improvements don't happen if you play off an external HDD, it just plays like the regular PS4 version
The backward compatibility for PS4 games is fantastic, especially with their 60 fps patch with no compromise for the resolution mode of the pro for these games, but I think it's a bit sad that PS3, PS2, PS1 games can't have the same treatment to be able to played on PS5. Even the PSP and the Vita, could have emulators on the PS5. It was understandable for PS3 games to not have the ability to be played on PS4, because the Cell architecture is hard to emulate, but with the PS5, we easily have enough horsepower to be able to have a working emulator on PS5 as well as a a better compatibility for PS2 and PS1 games, since they already have existing emulators for PS4. The PS1 emulator in Medievil Remake could play the the PS1 games at 4k on the pro flawlessly. If we compare with the Xbox, we are able to play four generations of consoles on the serie X and I'm not yet talking about the other possible emulators once we start using the developer mode.
Yeah that’s definitely one area where MS has Sony beat is in the backwards compatibility department. I’m pretty sure it’s a lot more complicated then it seems to get emulators to run on ps5 hardware but I do agree it would be awesome to play all those last gen games again at 60fps. That’s probably the only compelling reason for me right to pick up a series x.
Even if they had PS1-3 backwards compatibility it would be half assed due to licensing issues. Ideally they would just release the base emulator and let everyone install PS2/3 discs testing on a game by game basis and slowly add 100% working titles digitally. There’s no CD support so PS1 full compatibility is out of the question and so many devs from then are gone the library would be bad.

And even the cheapest 4k drive plays CDs, hell even the goddamn xone and Xsx.
Im sure CD playback could be activated on the ps5 per Update

The PS4 already has a built in PS2 emulator which is what is used everytime you run one of the dloaded ps2-ps4 titles ie. Primal. It's just another example of Sony's anti consumer policies not letting it be used to run disc ps2 games. Don't get me started on the confusion of the whole PS+ range and the ludicrous price rises. I own a PS5 and love it but Sony are not helping themselves.
The only thing missing for me is the PS5 itself. 😅

Just in case you don't know... go to the Playstation store and register for a chance to purchase a PS5. I did this and about a month later got the email with the invitation. Following their instructions I was able to click on the link they sent me and was able to buy one at cost!
I’m still amazed at how hard it is to find a ps5 almost 2 years after launch. Ps6 will be out by the time everyone will get their hands on a ps5 🤣

Out of curiosity, did you try The Order 1866 while making this video? That was plagued with performance issues when it was first released on PS4.
Nah, that game was capped at 30fps on ps4 I think so I figured the best ps5 could do was maintain a locked 30fps so I didn’t bother to try.

Great list, man! I played Killzone Shadowfall a few months back on PS5 and I agree completely. It is astounding that it was a launch PS4 game with how freaking fantastic it still looks. And that buttery smooth framerate now. Mmmm.... And the bump in performance on Sekiro really makes me want a PS5 patch for Bloodbourne. I just can't play it, even on PS5. Way to much stutter and screen tear. Honorable mentions for Infamous: Second Son, Nier: Automata, and The Order 1886. All games I played since getting the PS5 and they look and play so good.
The only reason I feel like Bloodbourne hasn't gotten a patch for 60fps yet is because I think they're gonna remaster that game soon. Just my speculation🤔
@@SuperJumpReviews Yeah, I think you are right. I am hoping it will coincide with/ immediately precede a sequel. It's the only thing that makes any sense as it is one of the most popular PS4 games and has had nothing done with it for next gen.
The order doesn’t have any ps5 upgrade, does it? And yeah shadowfall looking that good at 1080p is insane, btw the fact that in consoles 1080p with an stable 60fps was never a standard is atrocious

I still have to try Killzone and the Last Guardian. I loved Crash and beat it on PS4. When I played it on PS5, I did notice a difference, but I don't think it was significant. Maybe that's just me.

I was playing killzone and god of war on the ps4 pro then got a ps5, wow these games look and run so much better. Love killzone sounds amazing on the home theater.

Games that had checkerboard rending on PS4 PRO and temporal anti-aliasing solutions on PS4/PRO may see a minor improvement to visual quality due to the higher frame rate because the information from the last rendered frame used to improve the current rendered frame is more recent and can improve temporal image stability.

Hey since it's confirmed the 3DS store is closing, you think Sony will re-reverse its decision and close the Vita store this year?
With no new games being allowed to be put on there and not accepting cards, I fear it will be closing soon too since they're seeing other do it...
Honestly, I don't think it really matters at this point. There's only a small handful of gamers left who buy actual games off the store anyway.

Facts. The console’s excellent backwards compatibility features provide a virtually unlimited new games collection for every PS5 owner. I’m now continuing my play through of Infamous, HZD, and GOW before the next sequels drop; however, I already have my copy of Forbidden West, so it may prove too irresistible.

imo 30 is very bad in any situation.
I found an XSX before I found a ps5 so I’ve been playing that since they released.
But now I finally got a ps5 I have to say that flying in to an asteroid field in No Man’s Sky on PSVR2 is now my most unforgettable gaming moment.
Uncomfortable, a bit blurry and awkward at first, it took me two big gaming sessions over two days to train myself and tune the picture but THEN… oh boy.
(pulling out my knife and just looking at it in Resident Evil Village is my second most memorable moment. That heavy, hard looking steel blade with signs of wear looked freaking incredible.
Be patient at first and then it’s 10/10 must recommend.
The problem with Last guardian without a patch, is a game breaking bug that makes the game freeze... the only way to " avoid" this is to play the part that has the glitch With the update, let the game save after the place that has the glitch, delete the patch and load the game.
Ugh, that's so annoying. That's why this game desperately needs an official patch for 60fps.

Skyrim kinda has that enhance but still has those glitchy parts an frame drop at some points even after ps5 upgrade gotta say killone port to ps5 made a big difference helped with frame rate or whatever issue that ps4 version had

A few games i stopped playing on 4 due to having experpenced it on 5. Faster fps makes a big difference and something more smoother in motion simply looks better even withlower pixel count. Cyberpunk was one i dropped, aside from all it's other...issues.
Absolutely agree. Frame rate is more important than ever this generation. I refused to play anything in 30fps. Also Cyberpunk looks and run a lot better after the next gen Ps5 update.

I'm playing Horizon Zero Dawn for the third time and now on PS5 with 60fps. The game looks absolutely gorgeous and it's still better than Forbidden West for me. More interaction with people, more buildings to explore.
I'm not sure if it's true but I heard a rumor they were planning on remaking the first Horizon game? Hope not cause that game already looks amazing like you said.

Good video and List SJR. I have Finally got a PS5, Sony invited me too Buy one from the PlayStation Store, so pumped too Finally have one. I Played Through Horizon Zero Dawn on the PS5 before Forbidden West came out and arguably Zero Dawn looks better than Forbidden West if you are Playing HFW in Performance Mode but anyway the PS5 makes all PS4 Games Look n Run better overall.

@@SuperJumpReviews it's 1800p 60fps in Performance Mode and 4k 30fps with all the Bells n Whistles in Resolution Mode, so alot of People are going for 4k/30fps but you can't beat the Smoothness of Playing in 60fps tho, especially for a First Playthrough at least.

I'm very disappointed games like Battlefield have not yaken advantage of PS5 hardware. But on Xbox you can play at 120fps.
My biggest gripe about the system. Sony even quietly added 120hz support for PS4 titles through a patch last year and only 2 games bothered to update. Great system but disappointing BC compared to Xbox

No that’s not it. In every one of these videos I always get a few people who always ask me why I didn’t include this game or that game when in fact I already mentioned it in a previous video. Truth of the matter is most people who watch my videos normally haven’t seen my previous videos so they always come in asking about such and such game. But of course my loyal fan base will pick up on it☺️

I instantly notice the difference between 30, 60 and 120. 60 vs 80 is a small difference. It also depends on the TV’s technology, 60 on a plasma looks like 120 on led and oled because of differences in persistence blur.

It would be nice, if you could include an information, if a games runs better because of a patch (like Horizon) or it runs better natively even without using a patch (like Sekiro). I know in some cases you mention the patch number, but in some cases you don‘t.

I played the last guardian on ps4 and still thought it was a great game.
Yeah I just wish they had tighten up the camera a bit. Then it would have been perfect!
Horizon zero dawn is great on ps5, I’d recommend. Just bought it the other day and it’s been very cool, but you can tell a bit of the animations and dialogue are dated.

It's basically a rendering technique to keep the quality of an image when upscaling to 4K. It makes things that are not native 4K look good on a 4K monitor. Oh great, here comes that prick again. Let me have it.

So when you download the “ps5 upgrade” version of a PS4 game - is it still considered a PS4 game?? I’m basically wondering if I can save these games on an external HDD or if they’d have to be on an SSD like PS5 only games.
Some of the games on this list can be stored on an external HDD and played from there as they are not official ps5 upgrades. Just enhanced. However, No Man's Sky and Crash Bandicoot 4 must be stored on the SSD since the ps5 upgrade make them official PS5 titles.

@@pegtweedy Yes, if you download the PS5 patch, then when you hover over the game icon in the PS5 dashboard, there should be a little icon stating whether its a PS4 or a PS5 title.

I prefer to game at 30fps. I know that's controversial but it shouldn't be. We don't watch movies at 60fps because 30fps is more cinematic. So is gaming!
Gaming I prefer 60fps but movies I prefer 24fps🙂

The Last Guardian is mind blowing, i loved it so much but the fact that you have to skip HDR to get 60fps is a joke..
Also some game logic is bound to framerate so it’s borderline impossible to proceed at one point.
Yeah, someone else mentioned that. You have to revert back to 1080p, progress through that one part then reload it again unpatch. It's a headache. That's why they game desperately needs a 60fps toggle switch.
