Discovered your channel around November, didn’t know you like KDramas and I was happy to find out that you do!! I really love the way you give synopsis of the books, it really helps me choose what books I might like to read myself!
Just put Sophie Kim’s book on hold at the library! I feel like so many people have been saying 2024 was a bad year for reading, so it’s really refreshing to hear you say that it was such a good year! For me, I found so many new favorites (too many to name) but some of my top reads were My Husband + Worry + Maame + Queenie + Annie Bot + Listen for the Lie
My faves of the year were: The Starless Sea, Heartless Hunter, Barbi and the Villain, and Only Dull People are Brilliant at Breakfast This was a terrible year for quantity (only 6 books read), but a phenomenal year for quality 💖
Girl i started the series back in like 2019.... It took me 8 months to finish words of radiance. It put me in 2 book slumps however, i finished it this morning!!! and literally picking up the next immediately. I absolutely loved this book by the end. Its normal that books these sizes will put you in a slump but.... Its just how it goes. Those books shouldnt be rushed ❤ For sure journey before destination!
Words of Radiance also made it to my list, I got obsessed with Stormlight last year! Absolutely love everything about this series 😍 Loved the Shepherd King duology too!
🦋 This video was soooo good. Hope you’re well ❤ I appreciate the time you took to share the book’s plot and your opinion of it. Feeling so inspired by your joy for this new reading year!
Mel happy new year! I could listen to you talk about books for HOURS you describe them so well and make me want to pick up everything. I also started the Stormlight Archive this year after feeling so intimidated by it for so long, Edgedancer is next up for me but WOWWWWW the first two books just blew me away. So many moments gave me actual chills, made me cry, made me laugh. Such a great reading experience and they’ve become my all time favorite books 🥲🦋
Two of my absolute favourites this year were The Book that Wouldn't Burn and The Book that Broke the World by Mark Lawrence. Planning to start the Cosmere in 2025 and I'm excited! 🦋🦋
Watching your best of recap just solidifies how much our likes tend to mash up, makes me so stoked to pull some recc’s from you!! Heartless, monk/robot, Vera wong, a tempest of tea, etc! So many good ones!!!
🦋 🦋 some of my favorite books in 2024 were: Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend, The City Bakers Guide to Country Living by Louise Miller, The Liars Crown by Abigail Owen, Academy of Villains by Ever King, The Rose Bargain by Sasha Peyton Smith (I got an ARC of this one), Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer, Stars and Smoke by Marie Lu, A Million Junes by Emily Henry, The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, When in Rome by Sarah Adams, and Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.
We definitely had some overlap with "The Shepard King" duology! It was so good, and one of my favorite reads of the year. I also have in my top ten: "Middlegame," "The Murderbot Diaries" (1-4), "The Gravekeeper" series (1-4) by Darcy Coates, "Parable of the Sower," "Harrow the Ninth," "The Serpent and the Wings of Night" (thank you for getting me back into my vampire era!), "Don't Let the Forest In," "Honey & Spice" by Bolu Babalola (started my romance era), and "The Wren in the Holly Library."
One book I ended up really liking last year was 'Josie the Tiger and the fish' I read the manga version but I am pretty sure it is also a light novel. I put off reading it for months so its funny how this turned out. Also really liked the first volume of a graphic novel series called 'Rainbow.'
A couple of my favourites of this year were actually your recommendations - Our wives under the sea (I cried so much), A psalm for the wild built duology (also cried). Others are Gideon the Ninth, Adventures of Amina Al Sirafi, Lyla Sage's Blue Ranch series, and Book Lovers.
🦋🦋I already have so many of these on my mental wish list🦋🦋 My faves of 2024 were: this is how you lose the time war, gideon the ninth, iron flame (dont add me 😂😂) and Ninth House
🦋 20:57 No more installments?? Noooo I read so many books in 2024 - 127. And ofc so many good ones. If anybody wants any specific recommendations, lemme know.
Just so you know the third book oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson is the slowest of all in the Stormlight archive. It is ok if it takes a long time to read it. It took me 8 months to read oathbringer. They are all worth it though.
