My top book of the year was The Seven Year Slip, but The Rom-Commers was a close second. I loved hearing that you liked Funny Story. Have you thought of reading the books on her backlist? I read her whole backlist this past year and fell in love with a couple. My favorite of them was definitely A Million Junes, which is like Romeo and Juliet mixed with magical realism.
Always makes my day to see the notification that there's a new video from Ellen!!! I am so glad you loved My Vampire Plus One! They were absolutely darling to me!!!
I definitely think Check & Mate should've been promoted as new adult rather than YA, there were surely moments that went beyond what YA usually entails. I adore the book so much, regardless.
So many great books on this list and some books I’m looking forward to that are on my TBR! Top 5 books: 1. Babel by R.F. Kuang 2. Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez 3. The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah 4. Funny Story by Emily Henry 5. Legendborn by Tracy Deonn Bride and Love of My Afterlife were also in my full top books list!
Ooooooohhhhhh! I'm excited! I think you're favorite of the year is either going to be "Play Along" by Lim TomForde or "Hello Stranger" by Katherine Center (hopefully I got one of those right😂). Also, are you going to be doing a "worst books of 2024" video as well?
My guess was first time caller which was wrong but it still made the list so I’m gonna count that as a win lol my top five of 2024 are: 1. unloved by Peyton Corinne 2. The ex vows by Jessica Joyce 3. Off the beaten path by Madison Wright 4. The secret fiancé by Catharina Maura 5. Then there was you by Laura Beth
My top three books really surprised me in 2024! My top book was Spearhead by Adam Makos which is a WWII nonfiction and it was just soooooo good. My number two book was One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig and I was not expecting to love it so much but it had me captivated! And then Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger was my third favorite, it is just a beautiful coming of age story mixed with a kind of small town mystery and I just really liked the messaging in it.
Thank you for making so many fun videos throughout 2024! My top 3 of the year were The Seven Year Slip, You Again and Summer Fridays by Suzanne Rindell!
Hey Ellen! I think my top 3 for 2024 were Project Hail Mary, Bloom and Heartless Hunter (Crimson Moth). I couldn't guess your top book but I should have known! 😆Looking forward to your worst book video! BTW I have started Apprentice to the Villain this morning. 🐸
Love this video because I really wanted to see your favorites in order and to be reminded of them. As you say Ellen, with 180 books read, we’re seeing just 1 out of every 18 books you read this year. I’m new, in fact I’ve never read one to date, to the romance genre, but you are my primary guide to what romances I will try reading, so I thank you very much for providing specific titles! I’m excited to see if I will enjoy them. Emily Henry, I’m casually compiling data in my head about her books, seeing which of her books are booktubers’ favorite, so chalk up points for “Happy Place” and “Funny Story”. And never apologize about your tastes! Anyone who tries to lord what they read over someone else is a pretentious jerk who you wouldn’t want to be friends with anyway. For me, a few of my favorites were, “The Motel Life” by Willy Vlautin, an excellent American novelist who isn’t well known, I loved a couple Agatha Christie mysteries, “Murder on the Orient Express“ and “Cards on the Table“. My mom read all of those so I wanted to reconnect with her by reading some. I really enjoyed Cormac McCarthy‘s, “No Country for Old Men“ though I was disappointed to hear the news about McCarthy that came out recently. Lastly, a very good non-fiction book is “The Quickening“ by Elizabeth Rush about an expedition to Antarctica to check out a gigantic glacier that will give us an indication about how climate change is progressing.
My top 5 in no particular order were: Warcross by Marie Lu Acotar the whole series The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo The love hyothesis The infatated fae series aka How does it feel? (go read it Ellen) I am realising now that these are all very different books 💜💜
My top books of the year were: 1. Daydream by Hannah grace 2. Twisted games by ana haung 3. Twisted lies 4. Play along by liz tomforde 5. The right move I think I found my favourite authors as well
My top 3!! (Because I love giving my opinion haha): 1 - Next to You by Hannah Bonam-Young, 2- Out on a Limb also y Hannah BY, and 3- The only light left burning by Erik J Brown ❤️❤️ I have a fave author
If you liked The Last Word I’d recommend No Exit which is another one of Taylor Adam’s books! I’m not usually a thriller person but I tore through it it was so tense and crazy! I think it’s a bit of a booktube darling so sorry if you’ve had it recommended before.
Not top 3 books, but top 3 series (Okay, top 5 series) that I read in their entirety I enjoyed them so much - Leveling Up by K. F. Breene, Magic on Main Street by K. M. Shea, Return of the Elves by Bethany Adams, Elven Alliance by Tara Grayce, and Elves of Eldarlan by Elisa Rae. I think my #1 favorite book of 2024 would have to be The Order of Blood and Ruin by K. M. Shea. Least favorite books were: A Duet with Siren Duke by Elise Kova, A Dawn with the Wolf Knight by Elisa Kova, Something in the Heir by Suzanne Enoch, and Gallant by Victoria Schwab. The Elisa Kova books were really my fault because I should have stopped reading that series after A Duel with the Vampire Lord but I actually liked that one and hoped that meant that the series was finally getting good, but books 4 and 5 royally tanked for me, just like books 1 and 2 did.
Omg, this is the best thing to see when I've just sat down to chill after self-care day due to period cramps ❤ thank you Ellen!
Also a top 15 all time favorite books would be so cool. Just saying.
Was refreshing every minute and watching old videos by Ellen and when this popped up I screamed 😂
best way to spend a sunday afternoon
I decided to take a break from studying and went on UA-cam and saw you just posted! Made my evening🩷

My guess for the top book would be hello stranger or maybe Quicksilver idk for sure.
I was right you did pick hello stranger for number 1. I also read this book last year and loved it.
I feel like top read may be Hello Stranger.... will find out soon!! 😁
We need a bonus hair tutorial for 2025. Your hair looks sooo good!
3 of my fav reads of the year: The mindf*ck series, Reckless by Lauren Roberts and Ruthless Vows
DARN IT!! I almost picked Hello Stranger as my Book of the Month this time and talked myself out of it. Next time I guess ❤
If you liked The Last Word I’d recommend No Exit which is another one of Taylor Adam’s books! I’m not usually a thriller person but I tore through it it was so tense and crazy! I think it’s a bit of a booktube darling so sorry if you’ve had it recommended before.
Yes, Funny Story!
Bride by Ali Hazelwood was my number 2 for 2024! :)
My guess is Hello Stranger. Future me, was I right?
GIRL YES!!

I would love to see you read we used to live here by Marcus K. It's an amazing thriller, blows your mind, AND has sapphic MCs.
i’ve been desperate to read this one!! i had no clue it had sapphic MCs, that’s made me even more excited🤭 might need to go and buy it!!!
My reading list for 2025 just became even longer...
you should do a video where you rank your five stars ⭐️!!!!!
Have you read The Writing Retreat by Julie Bartz? Don't read the summary, go into it blind, just read it.
