  • In today’s #WeeklyWednesdays video, we are delighted to introduce a new young talent to LMP followers. Young violinist Leia Zhu wowed the audience at our reception at Windsor Castle last year. Now aged just 13, she is certainly a force to be reckoned with.
Over our 71-year history, the LMP has always encouraged young talent. We’ve performed with many young musicians as they start their professional music careers - including Jacqueline du Pré, Nicola Benedetti and Sheku Kanneh-Mason; while our founder, Harry Blech, launched the Mozart Memorial Prize which, like BBC Young Musician, has given a platform to the musical stars of tomorrow. We also work with YCAT and City Music Foundation who help young musicians build their careers.
We are sure that Leia will have an incredible classical music career and we look forward to performing with her at concerts scheduled next year, including at the Fairfield Halls, Croydon and the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank. In this video she introduces our 2021 concert series, and you can find out more and hear her play here:
