Jesus asked His disciples, "Who do you say I am?" It's a question that still needs an answer today.
Author Jared Brock explores this question in his new book "A God Named Josh", and the answer to that question may challenge everything you once thought about who Jesus was during his time on earth, starting with his very name.
This is a charged, provocative book that Jared has researched, studied and pushed the boundaries of his own comfort to learn all that he can about Jesus, the most revolutionary man who ever lived.

I'm a huge fan of Jared's on Medium. I'm not into religion for the most part, although I'm not an atheist either. Political economy leads us to where Jared goes. Once a person understands what private property is, they can figure out how destructive it is for humanity and the world. Most people don't spend time thinking about the issues. Instead, they choose a group or a philosophy, or a school of thought that they can attach themselves to. This is a bad thing because it makes you a tool of power. What might seem like a road to heaven becomes a road to hell, and it's almost always paved with good intentions. Jared doesn't do this. He builds a solid foundation.

love this insight Peter! that these concerns he raises are not just for a religious person, but rather for a human person- as how we live and get and spend and share property/resources is something we need to think more about. He offers a different lens

8:26 "churches really just don't seem to care about economic injustice"
Oh Jay! What a perfect sentence. I find this prophetic turn compelling and important. Gently and humbly indeed. Haha.

26:24 "... with his aunt Joanna!" Haaaa. What a great little moment, and from there to the foot of the cross. Wild conversation.

Religion makes economic injustice possible by creating an authoritarian character structure in the population. This is not restricted to Christianity, but is present in all patriarchal religions that place ultimate truth to be in a non physical realm. I'm speaking in terms of anthropology, not in terms of patriarchal nonsense you hear from woke people in today's media. Matriarchal society in prehistory put truth in our world as well as in a non physical world. Everyday people had direct access to truth for matriarchal society. This is why those cultures in prehistory were egalitarian and emotionally healthy.
