Thank you mr Oracle for all your well and patiently instructed video's on Bosch dishwashers.
I encounter error 15 as well. I had to remove the sump in order to remove a big piece of junk from the heatpump.
After reassembling the machine carefully, I tested the machine and the error showed up. (after almost completing a cycle)
I could see water dripping from the sump, just above the heatpump. Fortunately the pump housing is shaped smart and runs the water down without entering into the motor or heater connections.
I hope my local part store can supply a repair kit.

Cutting off the 2 grey plastic ‘fins’ on the RH rear screw pillar is only required when installing the seal with the sump still in the dishwasher. These fins would impede the installation of the hollow silicone seal which has to be ‘threaded’ through the pillar hole in the stainless lower panel. If taking it all apart, you don’t need to cut these fins off. (But useful to show so anyone doing the job with the sump in-situ knows what to do - although slightly more awkward when the panel is in the way).

@crakhamma It just my preference to do it this way as the silicone oring seal is some what oversize.

I have a Bosch dishwasher that’s leaking- I’ve changed the circ pump and the drain pump. I’ve spent several hours watching it underneath while it’s running- I’ve run a camera in there as well. It’s like the water appears out of nowhere! Could this be my issue??

Excellent Bosch 800 series Dishwasher E15 error (leaking sump seal) Repair videos - Bosch finally has a Repair kit (12005744) to permanently fix this design-flaw which has been a huge problem. As you suggested (& I highly recommend if your D.W. is out of warranty & 6 years or older), I replaced the plastic sump, (both the drain & wash/heater pumps) & the Alternative water distributor. Now there are No more leaks on our 9 yr D.W. (I recommend Parts Dr for your Web OEM parts Retailer).
The wire is to install the Repair kit seal if the Sump isn’t removed but it’s easier if removed.
Thanks Soooo much for your video where you used this Repair Kit - I & even our local Bosch dealer didn’t know this kit was available until I watched your video.

Your video is very well done and I have watched it several times. However, I need to know how to remove this unit and also how to remove the safety switch from the sump. The Kit number you furnished may be helpful to me in the future.

      Hi Stanley
Here comes the link on how to install the sump seal.
Iam sending you two links to my youtube videos to help reassemble the sump seal.

This Machine has a Heat pump which is a band heater built into the wash pump and has the Temperature sensor built in to the pump.
A defective heater is one of the many reasons why the safety switch can trip. There is no safety switch under the sump.
Can you tell me the model, so we can verify.
So if the heater/ sensor is defective you replace the whole wash pump.
Do let me know what your error code is or is it tripping the breaker ?

@oracle thank you so much for an excellent series of videos. I am about to replace the sump seal in my serie 8 machine. I was going to just do it without removing the sump. But you recommend removing it. Do you have a video on how to remove the bottom tray to get access to remove the sump? I have looked through your videos but can't see one showing that.

      Hi Karl
I have done a video on my channel on replacing the sump seal. I always prefer to remove the sump as you can clean it completely and seal the new seal properly.
The seal is somewhat oversize and needs to be seated. This is quite hard to do in reality when the sump is still Installed

Normally you do it without disassembling the sump. You can do it from the inside of the dishwasher. In this case you need the wire to pull the seal through the holes in the metal dishwasher cover.

    • @theoracle6005
      @theoracle6005  2 роки тому

      Hi Zolv
Yes it can be done from inside, however it's a good opportunity to clean out the dirt and muck hidden between the sump and the chamber, hence I remove the sump completely to clean and ensure the seal is properly seated around the black sump seal.

Request for Tech advice: E15 error AGAIN 1 year after meticulously following your step-by step Bosch Repair kit install instructions:
Our DW leaks from the Sump into the base (even when not running) just with manually adding water in the tub to normal level. This is the 4th Sump that has failed on our DW - this one lasting only one year even with the new silicone O-ring installed last July 2021. I gently re-tightened the four sump screws and there are no other detectable leaks from the other common places that you point out in your excellent videos. Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. In the past, just replacing the sump alone solved the problem for 2 to 3 years at best on our 10 year old Bosch 800 series DW. It has otherwise been a very reliable machine.
    Thank you

      Hi Mike
When you replaced the silicone oring seal did you remove the whole sump and clean the surrounding areas before installation.
Can you send me a video of the leak and the internal of the sump please.

      Hi Mike,
When you replaced the sump are you replacing both the black sump gasket and adding the clear silicone gasket in addition to the existing black sump gasket.
For E15 error make the following checks
      1) Leaks from Sump seal
      2) Leaks from Airbreak seal located on LHS rear grid
      3) Leaks from condenser drain valve to chamber - check the small gasket, inside the chamber you have a half moon cover in grey towards front LHS , remove this and use a Allen key to tighten the lug nut.
      4) If the condenser check valve on the LHS is clogged , then you will also have a leak from the rear LHS part of the condenser vent.
      5) Leaks from Orings for the intermediate drain hose and main drain hose.
      6) check the oring connections on the resin chamber as well
      7) internal resin chamber locking.
      8) check for Leaks around the top rack support rollers by removing the side panels.
Do take a video of the leak and send it to me and we can get a clearer picture on what's happening

Yes I completely disassembled the lower tray and removed the sump, cleaned all contact surfaces, installed new parts (drain pump, heater pump, actuator motor assembly, Carefully installed the silicone O-ring per instructions and your video and Replaced the drain hose that connects to the garbage disposer) last June 2021 and it’s been leak free since then. I carefully and very gently re-tightened the 4 slightly loose Sump screws And ran an empty loads but cannot see any leaks at any of the hose connections or from the sump. With the machine off & the tub fillies with water to the normal fill line, the drip tray fills with water in about 30 minutes.I’ve had this machine completely apart at least six times to replace the poorly designed sump 4 times. (I’m an electronics Technician and work on cars & equipment all the time) so it’s not a case of operator error.
Since there’s no visible water leaking I really can’t send you a video because there’s nothing to show. The model number of my machine is SHX8ER55UC/55 with AquaStop and water softener.
      Thanks

Following your suggestions & noticing the D.W. Leaking when my wife emptied the dish water in the sink, I disconnected the drain hose ( still partially filled with water) from the garbage disposer and I blew into the drain hose to test the check valve which revealed the water leak from a crack in the 18” drain- pump hose that directs drain water into the large clear plastic water inlet manifold & out to the sink drain. That is complex and a lot of work. Better to just remove the four screws inside which will drop the sump by a quarter inch (or use some wooden wedges after screw removal to force the sump down creating a gap). Go buy a $6 roll of Oatey Plumbers Putty. Push the putty into the crack between the stainless steel and the sump (from inside the machine). Take care to push the putty in all of the way around (no gaps). This will "reseat" the sump. Then replace the four screws and tighten.
Also, slide the dishwasher out and you can sop up the water under the float switch (from the side). No need to take everything apart.

Bosch dishwasher is 10.8 yrs old. Yes, gasket seal leak. Poor design. All 4 screws from the stainless tub go into the plastic sump housing. So don't tighten too much, easy to strip!
Bosch should have a twist-on between the pan and sump. Then have a lock bolt so vibration dosen't affect it over taim.
Vibration over the 10 plus years caused the screws to loosen and allow particles to wedge between. Tightening the 4 screws again helped again to where there was little water making it through.
After tightening the were a couple of drips oner the 2.5 hr cycle.
Decided to unscrew the 4 screws, cut the one side holding tab, dropped the sump.
Use a hand-held mini high pressure air blower. blew out all the water and particles in-between.
Got some Permatex RTV ultra silicone gasket (up to 500 degrees F), fill all the gaps between the gasket and the opening (so it would ooz out when tightened).
Inside of dishwasher reaches 185 f, max.
Tightened it up again to where it ooze out, cleaned up the excess.
Wait 24 hours for the silicone to cure. Put it all together.
Tested it, to see if any water leakage. No leakage, so far.
Looked at Bosch's seal repair kit and their wire, seems like it's a difficult solution that may not work.
Bosch, fix your attachment to the sump pan!!! Vibration over time almost guarantees a leak,

@@giddysmiles2901 Yes that's the reason why I install the seals using this method as it ensures that the oring seal seats properly before assembly.
In my opinion the lazy method of installation shown by many others doe as not guarantee a proper seal as the seal supplied is slightly oversize
