Helpful vid, thanks! Worth pointing out that the white plastic gaurd piece in front of the impeller must click back in properly. It looks like it just rests in the groove, but if you leave it like that then it'll float up, then get sucked in during the drain program and the motor will make strange noises. Worse still, it tends to sink back into the groove so you don't even know it's not properly clicked in and might just assume your motor is knackered!
You are a peach! Finally, someone could explain how to get that little white part off the drain area. Cleared a TON of nasty hair and ... whatever, and now the machine is running like a dream! Thank you! :D

This was great ! I had no idea how much force to use with the spoon or what to look for . Turned out to be some grape stalks. No idea how they were there but it just shows how easy it is to block the filter !
Thanks for this! The spot where the flexible drain tube rejoined the sink drain was clogged with a eggberg of tiny eggshells. My tip that has fixed me two dishwashers: get a big plastic bin for the dishwasher to drain into. This let me determine that the flexi hose was fine.

Thx! Your video did the trick. Fixed the dishwasher at work, there was a foil wrapper like the ones on small chocolates, 3 coffee beans and a pile of chicken schrapnel blocking the intake to the chopper impeller.
Awesome video. Didn't know about the impeller area until I watched it and that's what turned out to be my issue. A small piece of glass got down there. I couldn't see it but sucked it out with my wet vac. Problem solved! Thanks!!!

Thank you! Yours is the only video on this issue that I found even mentioned the impeller, much less how to inspect it and clear it out. In my case the culprit was a rogue pistachio shell.
Thanks for this, well put together and very detailed. Turned out to the be the hose for me, there was a kink in the drainage hose blocking flow. I had to go through all the steps to discover the issue but now have a very clean and working dishwasher.
Whoever set up my dishwasher up placed the tubing together so tight, for the life of me, I can't take it apart and the connector is high up into the sink it is almost impossible to get to. I can bet plumbers love this set up. I was able to clean out some stuff in the dishwasher but I just don't think there was enough stuff to cause a problem. The dishwasher is only 3 years old. She has been running okay for the last hour so let's see what happens. Thanks for the video
@@LurgsHowToGuides I decided to pour a mixture of hot water/vinegar/baking soda down the dishwasher drain and I will see what happens. Looks like that work because the cycle is almost done. I am going to routinely do this to keep the dishwasher working.

Thank you! My filter was fine but I had a coupe of clove spice sticks and a little clump of hair down by the propellor. It didn't look to be enough to stop it from working but as soon as I removed them, the dishwasher works fine again.
Never really comment on these vids but ya got me sorted with a piece of metal stuck in the propeller!! Would never have pulled out that plastic piece covering it and would have pulled the whole thing out😮 Cheers bud 🤟🤟
Thanks Pal. The Bosch website wanted a serial number to give me a manual; the serial number has worn off. Followed your guide, and it's sorted. (A sliver of broken glass in the impeller was the culprit). And I am legendarily crap at anything remotely DIY. Next time you're in Birmingham, I'll get you a pint.
I found a tiny wad of bunched up aluminium foil in my impellor. Never knew to check in there! Thank you for thorough and clear instructions, in particular the bit about the white plastic retainer. I feared breaking it, after only reading the official instructions.

Perfect tutorial, was able to follow it despite being pretty much the opposite of a handyman. Unfortunately couldn't find anything in the filter, the impeller, the pipe or the u-bend so looks like I'll having to get someone in anyway. Dishwasher is less than a year old! :(
Thanks for this video, we have moved to a new place and I detected a funny smell from dish washer, like damp. Every time we put the dish washer on I’ve noticed the plates are not fully dried and the dishwasher remains sort of wet. I was cleaning the filter and I noticed a bit water stuck at the bottom of the filter chamber. I will try to perform the steps you have done crossing my fingers it’s all sorted! Thanks
I followed all the steps and realised there is nothing stuck in the draining mechanism. What other reason could be causing water to be stagnant at the bottom? Thanks
Will either be a blocked drainage hose \ U bend so make sure that’s not full of sludge. Or possibly the pump is faulty. First thing a Dishwasher should do is drain any water inside before it starts so start it empty with the water in then see if you can hear it draining or feel it on the pipework. Hope you get it sorted

Thanks for the entertaining video. Mine was the drain pump (E23 error code), mentioned at the very end of this video. If you're handy and willing to spend a few hours watching various videos on replacing it, it's not that difficult.
@@LurgsHowToGuides my Mrs decided to wash Lego in it and a piece had got stuck in the impeller. I'd watched about ten different ones before I found yours and not one showed or mentioned the impeller.
Great video, it sorted my problem the first time. Now though I often have a situation where the dishwasher doesn't start at all, ir stops halfway showing E25. Leaving overnight with citric acid or causic soda usually works but only temporarily. What could it be?

Hi there Lurgs! You definitely earned yourself a new like and sub for this video. My dishwasher suddenly stopped draining water. Of course, I wasn't there to see how it happened, so I am left picking up the pieces of a disjointed story. TLDR: DW didn't drain, filter and trap were pulled and relatively clean, watched your vid, found out about impeller, there was some gunk down there, cleaned out, DW works! I thought initially bad water pump which is around $50-$60 for the part, and if you call in a service person, $160 to walk in the door and say hello.
@@LurgsHowToGuides I won the lottery by getting the DW working again. That's about the extent of my luck. But, if I ever do run into a massive unexpected revenue stream, I'll be sure to pay back the people that have helped me along the way.
I have opened that grey filter so many times, i never knew the white piece was down there. I opened it and had 3 lemon seeds. Now i got it running at 70°. Hope it fixes it and i wouldnt have to open the pipes at the back

What if there is a blockage in the grey waste water hose from the back of the washer.
Squeeze it and run lots of empty dishwasher programmes to try to clear it. Maybe try a coat hanger wire inside up and down to try to clear any gunge

Plumbing can be a nightmare sometimes. Running some empty programmes with dishwasher cleaner should help clear it.

@@LurgsHowToGuides my Mrs decided to wash Lego in it and a piece had got stuck in the impeller. I'd watched about ten different ones before I found yours and not one showed or mentioned the impeller.
Saves me from calling a technician to service it. 👍👍👍

Great video, it sorted my problem the first time. Now though I often have a situation where the dishwasher doesn't start at all, ir stops halfway showing E25. Leaving overnight with citric acid or causic soda usually works but only temporarily. What could it be?
Unfortunately sounds like the pump could be faulty. Depends how old the dishwasher is on whether you try a repair or get a new one. Good luck

You definitely earned yourself a new like and sub for this video. My dishwasher suddenly stopped draining water. Of course, I wasn't there to see how it happened, so I am left picking up the pieces of a disjointed story. TLDR: DW didn't drain, filter and trap were pulled and relatively clean, watched your vid, found out about impeller, there was some gunk down there, cleaned out, DW works!
I thought initially bad water pump which is around $50-$60 for the part, and if you call in a service person, $160 to walk in the door and say hello.
Now that is a great saving! Don't forget me if you win the Lottery. 😀. Glad to help.
@@LurgsHowToGuides I won the lottery by getting the DW working again. That's about the extent of my luck. But, if I ever do run into a massive unexpected revenue stream, I'll be sure to pay back the people that have helped me along the way.

I have opened that grey filter so many times, i never knew the white piece was down there. I opened it and had 3 lemon seeds.
Now i got it running at 70°. Hope it fixes it and i wouldnt have to open the pipes at the back
