Dan Dierdorf was an infrequent play-by-play commentator for _ABC's College Football_ in the 1990s. This particular weekend, they were shorthanded as Brent Musburger (normally the No. 2 play-by-play commentator behind Keith Jackson) was on assignment covering the 1993 Tour Championship. He was the network's PGA Tour on-site anchor back then as well. Roger Twibell, in turn, subbed for Musburger covering the Notre Dame at Navy game from Veterans' Stadium in Philadelphia.
Thanks for uploading man. I'm a Dawg fan so this one stung but it was a classic, it was the last one in the old Gator Bowl, and the full version hasn't been on UA-cam before. If you 89, 92, 97 or 04 GA-FL I'd love to see those as well. I appreciate your hard work, not only in uploading UGA games but all the others as well.
The reason why they didn't delay this game is twofold: 1) There was no lightning in the area-- and although the NCAA did not have a lightning delay policy and would not until 2001, a year removed from a scheduled game between Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech getting called off after persistent lightning and an unplayable field-- the decision was made at the head referee's discretion back then. 2) Although the field was in poor condition for the game, it was still (at least somewhat) playable.

It was only on occasion that he'd work college games. In 1991, he worked the Houston at Illinois game as the analyst with Frank Gifford as the play-by-play commentator. @@fantasticvoyage262

This is the only time I've ever seen Dierdorf do play by play before. Was he filling in for someone?
